then_o a_o beast_n yet_o will_v they_o speak_v as_o confident_o of_o their_o eternal_a state_n and_o the_o welfare_n of_o their_o soul_n as_o if_o they_o have_v the_o most_o excellent_a experience_n of_o any_o man_n or_o woman_n in_o the_o world_n say_v i_o shall_v have_v peace_n deut._n 29._o 19_o when_o as_o i_o say_v even_o now_o the_o lord_n know_v they_o be_v as_o ignorant_a of_o the_o new_a covetous_a desire_n after_o this_o world_n unlooked_a for_o as_o by_o themselves_o or_o their_o companion_n hence_o it_o be_v also_o that_o man_n do_v so_o wonder_v at_o such_o tiding_n as_o this_o there_o be_v such_o a_o one_o dead_a such_o a_o one_o be_v depart_v it_o be_v because_o they_o do_v so_o little_o consider_v both_o the_o transitoriness_n of_o themselves_o and_o their_o neighbour_n bury_v he_o be_v carry_v from_o his_o dwell_n to_o the_o grave_a and_o there_o he_o be_v bury_v hide_v in_o the_o dust_n and_o his_o body_n do_v not_o so_o fast_o mold_a and_o come_v to_o nought_o there_o but_o his_o name_n do_v stink_n as_o fast_o in_o the_o world_n as_o say_v the_o holy_a scripture_n the_o name_n of_o the_o wicked_a shall_v rot_v and_o indeed_o the_o name_n of_o the_o godly_a be_v not_o in_o so_o much_o honour_n after_o their_o departure_n but_o the_o wicked_a and_o their_o name_n do_v as_o much_o rot_n what_o a_o dishonour_n to_o posterity_n be_v the_o death_n of_o balaam_n agag_n achitophel_n haman_n judas_n herod_n with_o the_o rest_n of_o their_o companion_n thus_o the_o wicked_a have_v their_o name_n write_v in_o the_o earth_n and_o they_o do_v perish_v and_o rot_v and_o the_o name_n of_o the_o saint_n do_v cast_v forth_o a_o dainty_a savour_n to_o follow_v generation_n and_o that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n do_v signify_v where_o he_o say_v the_o godly_a fast_o asleep_a and_o secure_a in_o their_o sin_n that_o they_o scarce_o know_v well_o where_o they_o be_v till_o they_o come_v into_o hell_n and_o that_o i_o gather_v from_o these_o word_n in_o hell_n he_o lift_v up_o his_o eye_n he_o be_v asleep_o before_o but_o hell_n make_v he_o lift_v up_o his_o eye_n as_o i_o say_v before_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o there_o be_v a_o hell_n for_o soul_n yea_o and_o body_n too_o to_o be_v torment_v in_o after_o they_o depart_v this_o life_n as_o be_v clear_a first_o because_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n that_o can_v lie_v do_v say_v that_o after_o the_o sinner_n be_v dead_a and_o bury_v in_o hell_n he_o lift_v up_o his_o eye_n now_o if_o it_o be_v object_v that_o hell_n be_v here_o mean_v the_o grave_a that_o i_o plain_o deny_v first_o because_o there_o the_o body_n be_v not_o sensible_a of_o torment_n or_o ease_v but_o in_o that_o hell_n into_o which_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o damn_a depart_n they_o be_v sensible_a of_o torment_n and_o will_v be_v very_o willing_o free_v from_o it_o to_o enjoy_v ease_n which_o they_o be_v sensible_a of_o the_o want_n of_o as_o be_v clear_o discover_v in_o this_o parable_n send_v lazarus_n that_o he_o may_v dip_v the_o tip_n of_o his_o finger_n in_o water_n to_o cool_v my_o tongue_n second_o it_o be_v not_o mean_v the_o grave_a but_o some_o other_o place_n because_o the_o body_n so_o long_o as_o they_o lie_v there_o be_v not_o capable_a of_o lift_v up_o their_o eye_n to_o see_v the_o glorious_a condition_n of_o the_o child_n of_o god_n as_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o damn_a do_v in_o he_o lift_v up_o his_o eye_n and_o let_v i_o tell_v thou_o o_o soul_n whoever_o thou_o be_v that_o if_o thou_o close_v not_o in_o saving_o with_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o lie_v hold_v on_o what_o he_o have_v do_v and_o be_v do_v in_o his_o own_o person_n for_o sinner_n thou_o will_v find_v such_o a_o hell_n after_o this_o life_n be_v end_v that_o thou_o will_v not_o get_v out_o of_o soon_o as_o ever_o they_o depart_v this_o life_n do_v descend_v into_o hell_n this_o be_v also_o verify_v by_o the_o word_n in_o this_o parable_n where_o christ_n say_v he_o die_v and_o be_v bury_v and_o in_o hell_n he_o lift_v up_o his_o eye_n as_o the_o tree_n fall_v so_o it_o shall_v lie_v whâ—â—â—er_v it_o be_v to_o heaven_n or_o hell_n eccl._n 11._o 3._o and_o as_o christ_n say_v to_o the_o sad_a state_n i_o say_v by_o nature_n but_o though_o now_o they_o be_v willing_o ignorant_a yet_o in_o hell_n they_o shall_v lift_v up_o their_o eye_n that_o be_v in_o hell_n they_o shall_v see_v and_o understand_v their_o miserable_a condition_n and_o therefore_o to_o these_o word_n in_o hell_n he_o lift_v up_o his_o eye_n he_o add_v be_v in_o torment_n as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v though_o once_o they_o shut_v their_o eye_n though_o once_o they_o be_v 2_o pet._n 3._o 5._o willing_o ignorant_a yet_o when_o they_o depart_v into_o hell_n they_o shall_v be_v so_o miserable_o handle_v and_o torment_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v force_v to_o lift_v up_o their_o eye_n while_o man_n live_v in_o this_o world_n and_o be_v in_o a_o natural_a state_n they_o will_v have_v a_o good_a conceit_n of_o themselves_o and_o of_o their_o condition_n they_o will_v conclude_v that_o they_o be_v christian_n that_o abraham_n be_v their_o father_n matth._n 3._o 7_o 8._o and_o their_o state_n to_o be_v as_o good_a as_o the_o best_a they_o will_v conclude_v they_o have_v faith_n the_o spirit_n good_a hope_n and_o a_o interest_n in_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n but_o then_o when_o they_o drop_v into_o hell_n and_o lift_v up_o their_o eye_n there_o and_o behold_v first_o their_o soul_n to_o be_v in_o extreme_a torment_n their_o dwelling_n to_o be_v the_o bottomless_a pit_n their_o company_n thousand_o of_o damn_a soul_n also_o the_o innumerable_a company_n of_o devil_n and_o the_o hot_a scald_a vengeance_n of_o god_n not_o only_o to_o drop_v but_o to_o fall_v very_o violent_o upon_o they_o then_o they_o will_v begin_v to_o be_v awaken_v who_o all_o their_o life_n time_n be_v in_o a_o dead_a sleep_n i_o say_v when_o this_o come_v to_o pass_v lo_o it_o will_v then_o in_o hell_n they_o shall_v lift_v up_o their_o eye_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o torment_n they_o shall_v lift_v up_o their_o eye_n again_o you_o may_v observe_v from_o these_o word_n and_o in_o hell_n he_o lift_v up_o his_o eye_n be_v in_o torment_n that_o the_o time_n of_o the_o ungodly_a man_n smart_v for_o their_o sin_n will_v be_v in_o the_o torment_n of_o hell_n now_o here_o i_o be_o put_v to_o a_o their_o tongue_n say_v any_o thing_n for_o a_o little_a profit_n for_o two_o penny_n or_o three_o penny_n gain_v but_o o_o what_o a_o grief_n will_v this_o be_v at_o that_o day_n when_o they_o that_o thou_o have_v befool_v thyself_o in_o that_o thou_o do_v spend_v that_o time_n in_o seek_v after_o outward_a momentary_a earthly_a thing_n which_o thou_o shall_v have_v spend_v in_o seek_v to_o make_v jesus_n christ_n sure_a to_o thy_o soul_n and_o now_o through_o thy_o anguish_n of_o spirit_n in_o the_o pain_n of_o hell_n thou_o will_v enjoy_v that_o which_o in_o former_a time_n thou_o do_v make_v light_n of_o but_o alas_o thou_o be_v here_o beguile_v and_o altogether_o disappoint_v thy_o cry_a will_n now_o avail_v thou_o nothing_o at_o all_o this_o be_v not_o the_o acceptable_a time_n
