holiness_n but_o terror_n of_o conscience_n which_o may_v be_v in_o all_o unregenerate_a man_n because_o they_o be_v already_o in_o all_o the_o damn_a into_o who_o no_o part_n nor_o piece_n of_o regeneration_n can_v enter_v be_v far_o different_a from_o this_o first_o degree_n of_o the_o work_n of_o a_o new_a birth_n the_o sanctify_a spirit_n lay_v the_o filthiness_n not_o alone_o the_o danger_n of_o sin_n before_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o mind_n it_o cause_v a_o man_n not_o alone_o to_o be_v in_o extreme_a anguish_n because_o he_o fear_v he_o must_v be_v damn_v but_o even_o to_o loathe_v and_o abhor_v himself_o and_o to_o be_v very_o

spirit_n of_o god_n be_v fain_o to_o batter_v down_o the_o height_n of_o his_o heart_n and_o make_v passage_n for_o himself_o with_o horrible_a fear_n and_o terror_n then_o satan_n labour_v often_o to_o revive_v those_o terror_n and_o by_o infinite_a cavil_n and_o objection_n to_o make_v he_o even_o despair_v of_o his_o salvation_n there_o be_v none_o end_v almost_o of_o the_o devil_n strive_v in_o this_o case_n but_o he_o will_v labour_v continual_o with_o new_a doubt_n and_o objection_n to_o call_v his_o salvation_n into_o question_n and_o to_o make_v he_o think_v that_o he_o shall_v never_o enjoy_v the_o quiet_a possession_n of_o his_o heavenly_a inheritance_n yet_o against_o all_o these_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n so_o strengthen_v he_o that_o by_o virtue_n of_o the_o gracious_a promise_n of_o god_n and_o by_o the_o power_n of_o constant_a prayer_n and_o supplication_n he_o support_v himself_o and_o still_o continue_v to_o rest_v himself_o upon_o the_o free_a goodness_n of_o nature_n have_v frame_v he_o so_o that_o he_o can_v but_o grieve_v at_o natural_a inconvenience_n if_o they_o befall_v he_o for_o the_o passion_n be_v not_o simple_o at_o the_o command_n of_o the_o will_n in_o their_o work_n but_o alone_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o measure_n so_o grace_n do_v in_o such_o sort_n rule_v his_o hart_n that_o spiritual_a inconvenience_n and_o chief_o sin_n can_v but_o will_v not_o seem_v to_o you_o unreasonable_a nor_o the_o motion_n light_n and_o not_o worth_a harken_v to_o when_o the_o god_n of_o heaven_n sue_v unto_o you_o that_o be_v his_o enemy_n to_o be_v to_o regenerate_a yourselves_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v a_o idle_a attempt_n of_o i_o to_o persuade_v you_o to_o become_v such_o as_o you_o can_v make_v yourselves_o to_o be_v for_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n must_v regenerate_v and_o who_o can_v command_v that_o to_o come_v upon_o he_o to_o which_o i_o answer_v that_o indeed_o a_o man_n can_v possible_o regenerate_a himself_o this_o be_v god_n act_n not_o he_o he_o be_v a_o mere_a patient_n in_o it_o but_o yet_o i_o say_v moreover_o that_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v the_o ministration_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o where_o and_o petition_n unto_o god_n for_o his_o spirit_n of_o regeneration_n go_v thou_o and_o muse_n thus_o with_o thyself_o alas_o i_o see_v most_o evident_o that_o as_o yet_o i_o be_o but_o a_o son_n
