there_o shall_v be_v a_o resurrection_n of_o the_o dead_a and_o by_o these_o word_n also_o what_o be_v the_o great_a argument_n with_o his_o soul_n to_o carry_v he_o through_o these_o temptation_n affliction_n reproach_n and_o necessity_n he_o meet_v with_o in_o this_o world_n even_o the_o doctrine_n of_o a_o resurrection_n i_o have_v hope_n towards_o god_n say_v he_o and_o there_o be_v my_o fear_n to_o offend_v and_o that_o be_v as_o a_o undergirder_n to_o my_o soul_n whereby_o i_o be_o keep_v from_o destruction_n and_o confusion_n under_o all_o the_o storm_n and_o tempest_n i_o here_o go_v through_o in_o a_o word_n this_o be_v it_o that_o have_v more_o awe_n upon_o my_o conscience_n than_o all_o the_o law_n of_o man_n with_o all_o the_o penalty_n they_o inflict_v vers._n 17._o and_o herein_o do_v i_o exercise_v myself_o to_o have_v always_o a_o conscience_n void_a of_o offence_n both_o towards_o god_n and_o towards_o man_n now_o here_o see_v this_o doctrine_n of_o the_o resurrection_n of_o the_o dead_a have_v that_o power_n both_o to_o bear_v up_o and_o to_o awe_n both_o to_o encourage_v and_o to_o keep_v within_o compass_n the_o spirit_n and_o body_n of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n it_o will_v be_v requisite_a and_o profitable_a for_o we_o to_o inquire_v into_o the_o true_a meâ—ning_n and_o nature_n of_o this_o word_n the_o resurrection_n of_o the_o dead_a and_o for_o the_o better_a compass_v of_o this_o matter_n i_o shall_v brief_o inquire_v first_o what_o this_o place_n be_v mean_v by_o the_o dead_a second_o what_o be_v mean_v by_o the_o resurrection_n three_o why_o the_o apostle_n do_v here_o speak_v of_o the_o resurrection_n of_o the_o dead_a as_o of_o a_o thing_n yet_o to_o come_v there_o shall_v be_v a_o resurrection_n of_o the_o dead_a both_o of_o the_o just_a and_o unjust_a for_o the_o first_o the_o dead_a in_o scripture_n go_v under_o a_o fivefold_a consideration_n as_o 1._o such_o as_o die_v a_o natural_a death_n or_o as_o when_o a_o man_n cease_v to_o be_v any_o more_o in_o this_o world_n
and_o how_o contrary_a to_o these_o principle_n the_o world_n have_v walk_v act_v and_o do_v the_o principle_n of_o nature_n be_v conclude_v under_o these_o three_o general_a head_n first_o that_o man_n by_o his_o own_o natural_a reason_n and_o judgement_n may_v gather_v that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n a_o deity_n a_o chief_a or_o first_o or_o principal_a be_v who_o be_v over_o all_o and_o supreme_a above_o all_o this_o instinct_n i_o say_v man_n mere_o as_o he_o be_v rational_a creature_n find_v in_o himself_o and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o all_o heathen_n that_o mind_v their_o own_o natural_a reason_n do_v conclude_v that_o we_o be_v his_o offspring_n that_o be_v his_o creation_n and_o workmanship_n that_o he_o make_v heaven_n and_o earth_n and_o have_v make_v of_o one_o blood_n all_o nation_n of_o man_n that_o in_o he_o we_o live_v and_o move_v and_o have_v our_o be_v etc._n etc._n act_v 17._o 24_o 25_o 26_o 27_o 28._o it_o appear_v further_a that_o man_n by_o his_o own_o nature_n do_v know_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o god_n 1._o by_o his_o be_v able_a to_o judge_v by_o nature_n that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o thing_n as_o sin_n as_o christ_n say_v why_o do_v you_o not_o even_o of_o yourselves_o judge_v that_o which_o be_v right_a as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v you_o be_v degenerate_v even_o from_o the_o principle_n of_o nature_n and_o right_a reason_n as_o paul_n say_v in_o another_o place_n do_v not_o even_a nature_n itself_o teach_v you_o luke_n 12._o 57_o 1_o cor._n 11._o 14._o now_o he_o that_o can_v judge_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o thing_n as_o sin_n it_o must_v of_o necessity_n be_v that_o he_o understand_v that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n to_o who_o sin_n be_v opposite_a for_o if_o there_o be_v no_o god_n there_o be_v no_o sin_n against_o they_o when_o they_o transgress_v or_o do_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v irrational_a or_o contrary_a to_o what_o they_o see_v they_o shall_v do_v i_o may_v add_v further_o that_o the_o natural_a not_o far_o from_o every_o one_o of_o they_o etc._n etc._n act_v 17._o 26_o 27._o three_o this_o light_n of_o nature_n teacher_n that_o man_n between_o themselves_o shall_v do_v that_o which_o be_v
