to_o i_o the_o meaning_n be_v this_o when_o the_o gospel_n come_v at_o first_o to_o be_v preach_v among_o they_o general_o they_o cry_v out_o o_o this_o bless_a gospel_n o_o the_o blessedness_n o_o these_o bless_a truth_n that_o be_v come_v among_o we_o such_o truth_n as_o we_o be_v not_o acquaint_v withal_o o_o they_o be_v bless_v truth_n indeed_o mark_v they_o be_v thus_o take_v with_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n when_o they_o be_v first_o preach_v but_o now_o say_v paul_n where_o be_v the_o blessedness_n you_o speak_v of_o your_o heart_n be_v not_o now_o so_o take_v with_o the_o gospel_n as_o they_o be_v at_o first_o now_o you_o seem_v to_o be_v take_v off_o from_o it_o where_o be_v the_o blessedness_n you_o speak_v of_o i_o make_v no_o question_n but_o many_o minister_n in_o many_o congregation_n have_v cause_n to_o make_v use_n of_o these_o word_n of_o the_o apostle_n when_o god_n send_v they_o at_o first_o the_o heart_n of_o people_n be_v take_v with_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n but_o within_o a_o while_n they_o be_v off_o again_o and_o well_o may_v their_o minister_n say_v where_o be_v the_o blessedness_n you_o speak_v of_o the_o peace_n of_o the_o gospel_n it_o do_v not_o abide_v upon_o they_o but_o one_o thing_n or_o other_o take_v it_o off_o from_o they_o so_o in_o heb._n 6._o there_o you_o read_v of_o some_o that_o yet_o be_v not_o save_v by_o the_o gospel_n or_o be_v not_o in_o a_o condition_n at_o least_o for_o the_o present_a to_o be_v save_v yet_o they_o have_v a_o taste_n of_o the_o heavenly_a gift_n they_o do_v not_o only_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o understand_v it_o but_o they_o have_v a_o taste_n of_o the_o good_a word_n of_o god_n o_o they_o say_v it_o be_v the_o good_a word_n of_o god_n and_o mark_n of_o the_o power_n of_o the_o world_n to_o come_v that_o be_v of_o those_o powerful_a truth_n of_o those_o truth_n that_o do_v concern_v the_o world_n to_o come_v that_o be_v powerful_a truth_n for_o so_o certain_o my_o brethren_n the_o truth_n that_o do_v concern_v the_o world_n to_o come_v as_o powerful_a truth_n they_o have_v a_o mighty_a deal_n of_o power_n to_o work_v upon_o the_o heart_n and_o these_o have_v not_o only_o the_o apprehension_n but_o a_o taste_n of_o the_o power_n of_o the_o world_n to_o come_v and_o yet_o it_o appear_v that_o they_o have_v not_o those_o thing_n that_o do_v accompany_v salvation_n many_o other_o scripture_n may_v be_v show_v that_o there_o be_v many_o that_o be_v affect_v with_o the_o gospel_n yea_o they_o be_v convince_v and_o they_o have_v some_o taste_n of_o it_o and_o their_o spirit_n take_v yea_o almost_o persuade_v with_o he_o that_o we_o read_v of_o almost_o persuade_v to_o become_v a_o christian_a and_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o this_o mercy_n that_o be_v here_o promise_v to_o the_o son_n of_o peace_n be_v not_o their_o portion_n the_o peace_n of_o the_o gospel_n do_v not_o rest_n upon_o their_o spirit_n it_o be_v a_o blessing_n beyond_o that_o which_o any_o hypocrite_n in_o the_o world_n have_v to_o have_v this_o peace_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o rest_v and_o abide_v upon_o his_o spirit_n that_o be_v first_o to_o be_v set_v up_o as_o a_o constant_a light_n before_o the_o soul_n not_o to_o come_v as_o a_o mere_a flash_n of_o lightning_n sudden_o come_v and_o sudden_o go_v but_o than_o it_o may_v be_v say_v to_o rest_v when_o the_o lord_n set_v up_o those_o glorious_a truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o a_o constant_a light_n before_o the_o soul_n and_o second_o when_o as_o the_o lord_n work_v those_o truth_n by_o meditation_n upon_o the_o heart_n the_o lord_n cause_v those_o truth_n to_o follow_v the_o thought_n of_o the_o mind_n and_o so_o to_o work_v they_o upon_o the_o heart_n yea_o into_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o thought_n of_o the_o mind_n when_o the_o lord_n give_v a_o constant_a real_a taste_n of_o those_o truth_n and_o savour_n of_o they_o that_o though_o they_o be_v not_o always_o hear_v of_o they_o yet_o the_o savour_n and_o relish_n do_v abide_v in_o a_o constant_a way_n upon_o their_o heart_n when_o the_o lord_n cause_v those_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o spread_v all_o over_o the_o faculty_n of_o their_o soul_n that_o it_o be_v as_o the_o holy_a ghost_n compare_v it_o in_o scripture_n to_o leven_n the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n be_v like_a unto_o leven_n which_o in_o a_o little_a time_n do_v leven_n the_o whole_a lump_n so_o when_o the_o lord_n cause_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n not_o only_o to_o be_v in_o the_o mind_n in_o the_o understanding_n in_o the_o conscience_n but_o to_o get_v into_o the_o heart_n to_o get_v into_o the_o affection_n and_o as_o it_o be_v to_o leven_n in_o a_o good_a sense_n the_o whole_a soul_n by_o the_o sweetness_n and_o the_o goodness_n and_o the_o excellency_n of_o those_o truth_n yea_o when_o the_o lord_n shall_v cause_v those_o truth_n to_o be_v dear_o root_v in_o the_o heart_n to_o take_v such_o root_n as_o temptation_n and_o deducement_n any_o provocation_n without_o shall_v never_o be_v able_a to_o take_v out_o those_o truth_n which_o be_v upon_o the_o heart_n when_o the_o lord_n shall_v cause_v they_o to_o stick_v so_o fast_o to_o sink_v so_o deep_a into_o the_o heart_n let_v there_o come_v what_o will_n to_o take_v off_o the_o heart_n from_o they_o or_o take_v they_o out_o of_o the_o heart_n yet_o they_o shall_v never_o be_v able_a to_o take_v they_o out_o of_o the_o heart_n as_o a_o martyr_n say_v say_v he_o you_o may_v take_v my_o heart_n out_o of_o my_o body_n but_o you_o shall_v never_o take_v the_o belief_n of_o these_o thing_n out_o of_o my_o heart_n o_o the_o blessing_n and_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n do_v so_o rest_n upon_o his_o soul_n and_o they_o have_v get_v so_o near_o into_o his_o heart_n that_o nothing_o in_o the_o world_n can_v take_v it_o off_o many_o people_n that_o be_v a_o little_a stir_v upon_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o they_o think_v it_o be_v good_a and_o the_o truth_n be_v bless_v truth_n and_o they_o have_v good_a resolution_n but_o perhaps_o when_o they_o come_v home_o from_o hear_v of_o the_o word_n they_o shall_v have_v a_o fellow-servant_n jeer_a of_o they_o or_o the_o father_n or_o mother_n speak_v against_o they_o or_o the_o husband_n the_o wife_n or_o the_o wife_n the_o husband_n and_o so_o perhaps_o they_o come_v to_o lose_v all_o those_o truth_n which_o former_o they_o be_v so_o take_v with_o but_o those_o that_o be_v the_o son_n of_o peace_n they_o have_v the_o peace_n of_o the_o gospel_n rest_v upon_o they_o as_o have_v be_v open_v to_o you_o and_o this_o be_v a_o very_a great_a blessing_n of_o god_n o_o this_o be_v a_o mercy_n indeed_o for_o the_o lord_n to_o grant_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o the_o good_a of_o it_o thus_o to_o rest_v upon_o the_o heart_n that_o the_o heart_n do_v keep_v it_o as_o a_o treasure_n within_o it_o it_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n first_o because_o it_o be_v a_o special_a fruit_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n according_a to_o that_o text_n in_o jer._n 31._o where_o god_n promise_v as_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o covenant_n that_o he_o will_v write_v his_o law_n in_o their_o inward_o part_n now_o certain_o by_o the_o law_n it_o be_v not_o mean_v the_o letter_n of_o the_o ten_o commandment_n but_o when_o he_o say_v i_o will_v write_v my_o law_n that_o be_v my_o will_n the_o great_a counsel_n of_o my_o will._n and_o the_o save_a truth_n of_o god_n be_v there_o mean_v by_o the_o law_n for_o when_o david_n express_v his_o love_n to_o law_n be_v write_v in_o adam_n heart_n at_o first_o so_o now_o those_o that_o be_v receive_v into_o the_o covenant_n have_v the_o law_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o the_o truth_n of_o that_o write_a in_o their_o heart_n that_o be_v when_o ever_o they_o shall_v come_v to_o hear_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n open_v to_o they_o they_o shall_v find_v as_o it_o be_v a_o counterpain_n of_o the_o bless_a truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n in_o their_o heart_n yea_o further_o to_o have_v the_o word_n of_o
before_o the_o great_a god_n to_o answer_v for_o all_o unto_o the_o infinite_a justice_n and_o this_o the_o gospel_n will_v have_v deliver_v you_o from_o have_v you_o entertain_v it_o do_v it_o return_v from_o you_o why_o then_o you_o stand_v before_o the_o lord_n under_o the_o sentence_n of_o condemnation_n a_o condemn_a creature_n even_o to_o eternal_a death_n and_o this_o the_o gospel_n will_v have_v free_v you_o from_o do_v the_o gospel_n return_v again_o why_o then_o you_o stand_v a_o child_n of_o wrath_n before_o the_o great_a god_n under_o all_o the_o viol_n of_o his_o infinite_a wrath_n ready_a every_o moment_n for_o aught_o thou_o know_v to_o be_v pour_v out_o upon_o thou_o and_o this_o the_o gospel_n will_v have_v free_v thou_o from_o do_v the_o gospel_n go_v away_o from_o and_o this_o the_o gospel_n will_v have_v free_v thou_o from_o be_v the_o gospel_n return_v from_o thou_o then_o thou_o stand_v before_o god_n as_o a_o enemy_n unto_o he_o he_o look_v upon_o thou_o as_o one_o that_o be_v a_o enemy_n to_o he_o and_o thou_o can_v expect_v no_o other_o but_o to_o be_v deal_v withal_o as_o a_o enemy_n to_o have_v god_n in_o all_o his_o attribute_n to_o come_v out_o against_o thou_o to_o have_v all_o his_o creature_n to_o come_v out_o against_o thou_o to_o avenge_v god_n quarrel_n upon_o thou_o and_o this_o the_o gospel_n will_v have_v free_v thou_o from_o and_o so_o we_o may_v further_o name_v infinite_a evil_n no_o peace_n to_o the_o wicked_a no_o peace_n to_o those_o who_o be_v so_o wicked_a as_o to_o reject_v the_o glorious_a gospel_n and_o therefore_o thy_o case_n be_v dreadful_a second_o if_o the_o blessing_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v return_v from_o thou_o then_o know_v thou_o have_v lose_v the_o most_o happy_a opportunity_n of_o good_a that_o ever_o creature_n have_v never_o can_v a_o creature_n be_v make_v capable_a of_o a_o happy_a opportunity_n of_o good_a than_o the_o creature_n have_v when_o jesus_n christ_n come_v to_o be_v preach_v to_o it_o here_o be_v the_o most_o bless_a opportunity_n of_o good_a i_o say_v that_o a_o creature_n can_v have_v to_o have_v jesus_n christ_n come_v to_o be_v offer_v to_o he_o now_o when_o the_o gospel_n be_v return_v thou_o have_v lose_v this_o opportunity_n of_o mercy_n the_o tender_a of_o salvation_n that_o be_v worth_a ten_o thousand_o thousand_o world_n such_o a_o opportunity_n as_o the_o devil_n and_o damn_a in_o hell_n will_v give_v 10000_o world_n to_o have_v it_o and_o yet_o that_o be_v come_v to_o thou_o and_o be_v go_v and_o lose_v and_o therefore_o it_o be_v a_o sad_a thing_n for_o the_o blessing_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o return_v three_o if_o it_o do_v return_v from_o thou_o thou_o do_v not_o know_v whether_o it_o will_v ever_o return_v back_o again_o upon_o thou_o whether_o ever_o it_o will_v come_v any_o more_o when_o god_n offer_v grace_n and_o it_o be_v reject_v many_o time_n he_o do_v cause_n the_o offer_n to_o pass_v away_o and_o it_o never_o come_v more_o again_o thou_o may_v perhaps_o lie_v hereafter_o in_o the_o distress_n of_o thy_o conscience_n and_o think_v of_o former_a day_n that_o thou_o have_v and_o cry_v out_o o_o that_o i_o have_v such_o day_n again_o o_o that_o i_o have_v jesus_n christ_n preach_v to_o i_o again_o as_o i_o have_v at_o such_o a_o time_n o_o that_o i_o have_v such_o stir_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n as_o i_o have_v at_o such_o a_o time_n but_o now_o no_o friend_n time_n be_v when_o thou_o have_v they_o and_o thou_o do_v reject_v they_o and_o therefore_o they_o be_v go_v and_o thousand_o of_o world_n will_v not_o purchase_v they_o again_o i_o do_v not_o now_o speak_v only_o of_o take_v away_o the_o ministry_n of_o it_o but_o of_o the_o blessing_n of_o the_o gospel_n perhaps_o thou_o may_v live_v under_o the_o ministry_n of_o it_o and_o yet_o the_o blessing_n of_o the_o gospel_n may_v be_v return_v four_o if_o the_o gospel_n come_v and_o return_v with_o the_o blessing_n of_o it_o thou_o be_v now_o in_o a_o far_o worse_a condition_n than_o any_o heathen_a whatsoever_o a_o heathen_a be_v not_o in_o so_o sad_a a_o condition_n some_o time_n you_o will_v speak_v in_o way_n of_o indignation_n what_o do_v you_o think_v i_o a_o heathen_a a_o turk_n thou_o be_v in_o a_o worse_a case_n than_o any_o heathen_a whatsoever_o because_o they_o never_o have_v the_o offer_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o course_n of_o mercy_n have_v never_o come_v to_o they_o but_o to_o thou_o and_o leave_v thou_o there_o be_v hope_n before_o god_n make_v a_o trial_n as_o it_o be_v before_o mercy_n have_v as_o it_o be_v she_o turn_v upon_o the_o creature_n that_o it_o may_v belong_v to_o god_n election_n but_o now_o when_o mercy_n have_v have_v her_o turn_n and_o leave_v the_o soul_n than_o it_o be_v a_o be_v a_o soul-wounding_a thought_n yea_o and_o last_o hereafter_o it_o shall_v be_v to_o thy_o extreme_a torment_n when_o thou_o shall_v see_v other_o that_o have_v embrace_v the_o gospel_n and_o save_v eternal_o and_o thou_o thyself_o cast_v out_o i_o hear_v the_o same_o sermon_n that_o convert_v such_o and_o such_o a_o one_o and_o they_o be_v now_o save_v in_o heaven_n for_o ever_o o_o i_o be_v at_o the_o same_o sermon_n and_o reject_v of_o it_o be_o now_o cast_v down_o here_o to_o be_v swelter_a under_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n will_v not_o these_o be_v sad_a thought_n another_o day_n if_o not_o your_o peace_n shall_v return_v and_o you_o see_v the_o dreadful_a fruit_n of_o the_o return_v of_o peace_n wherefore_o then_o a_o word_n by_o way_n of_o application_n appl._n for_o very_a indifferent_a matter_n whether_o their_o heart_n be_v take_v with_o what_o they_o hear_v or_o no_o whether_o they_o yield_v and_o submit_v to_o what_o they_o hear_v or_o not_o but_o learn_v to_o know_v that_o it_o be_v not_o a_o matter_n of_o indifferency_n i_o may_v well_o make_v use_n of_o that_o speech_n of_o moses_n to_o the_o people_n in_o deut._n 32._o 46_o 47._o and_o he_o say_v be_v to_o this_o place_n to_o this_o people_n &_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v preach_v to_o they_o o_o set_v your_o heart_n to_o what_o be_v deliver_v why_o for_o it_o be_v your_o life_n when_o you_o come_v to_o hear_v a_o sermon_n you_o shall_v come_v so_o as_o to_o consider_v that_o your_o life_n may_v lie_v upon_o that_o sermon_n for_o ought_v you_o know_v and_o the_o rather_o look_v to_o it_o because_o the_o lord_n with_o who_o you_o have_v to_o deal_v be_v a_o great_a god_n and_o a_o god_n that_o will_v not_o be_v dally_v withal_o and_o trisled_a withal_o but_o if_o you_o disobey_v the_o message_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o lord_n may_v deal_v very_o quick_a with_o you_o and_o that_o let_v we_o i_o into_o the_o last_o point_n which_o now_o we_o be_v to_o finish_v this_o again_o the_o lord_n will_v not_o stand_v long_o about_o the_o matter_n i_o in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o point_n have_v already_o speak_v of_o a_o scripture_n or_o two_o now_o be_v the_o axe_n lay_v to_o the_o root_n of_o the_o tree_n when_o john_n baptist_n come_v to_o preach_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o that_o in_o the_o last_o of_o mark_n v_o 16._o go_v and_o preach_v say_v christ_n to_o his_o disciple_n he_o that_o believe_v shall_v be_v save_v he_o that_o believe_v not_o shall_v be_v damn_v the_o lord_n christ_n tell_v how_o quick_a the_o lord_n will_v be_v with_o those_o that_o shall_v not_o entertain_v the_o gospel_n and_o there_o be_v many_o text_n that_o be_v very_o full_a for_o this_o purpose_n and_o because_o it_o be_v a_o great_a point_n and_o that_o it_o shall_v
