manifest_v themselves_o and_o cease_v not_o until_o they_o have_v corrupt_v the_o whole_a doctrine_n of_o the_o church_n herein_o and_o it_o be_v no_o hard_a matter_n to_o discover_v the_o principal_a of_o they_o be_v that_o our_o present_a business_n however_o it_o have_v in_o part_n be_v do_v before_o 3._o it_o be_v grant_v that_o this_o doctrine_n both_o single_o by_o itself_o or_o in_o conjunction_n with_o whatever_o else_o concern_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n by_o christ_n jesus_n be_v liable_a unto_o abuse_n by_o they_o in_o who_o darkness_n and_o the_o love_n of_o sin_n be_v predominant_a for_o hence_o from_o the_o very_a beginning_n of_o our_o religion_n some_o fancy_v unto_o themselves_o that_o a_o bare_a assent_n unto_o the_o gospel_n be_v that_o faith_n whereby_o they_o shall_v be_v save_v and_o that_o they_o may_v be_v so_o however_o they_o continue_v to_o live_v in_o sin_n and_o a_o neglect_n of_o all_o duty_n of_o obedience_n this_o be_v evident_a from_o the_o epistle_n of_o john_n james_n and_o judas_n in_o a_o especial_a manner_n against_o this_o pernicious_a evil_n we_o can_v give_v no_o relief_n while_o man_n will_v love_v darkness_n more_o than_o light_n because_o their_o deed_n be_v evil_a and_o it_o will_v be_v a_o fond_a imagination_n in_o any_o to_o think_v that_o their_o modelling_n of_o this_o doctrine_n after_o this_o manner_n will_v prevent_v future_a abuse_n if_o they_o will_v it_o be_v by_o render_v it_o no_o part_n of_o the_o gospel_n for_o that_o which_o be_v so_o be_v ever_o liable_a to_o be_v abuse_v by_o such_o person_n as_o we_o speak_v of_o these_o general_a observation_n be_v premise_v which_o be_v sufficient_a of_o themselves_o to_o discard_v this_o objection_n from_o any_o place_n in_o the_o mind_n of_o sober_a man_n i_o shall_v only_o add_v the_o consideration_n of_o what_o answer_v the_o apostle_n paul_n return_v unto_o it_o with_o a_o brief_a application_n of_o they_o unto_o our_o purpose_n the_o objection_n make_v unto_o the_o apostle_n be_v that_o he_o make_v void_a the_o law_n that_o he_o render_v good_a work_n needless_a and_o that_o on_o the_o supposition_n of_o his_o doctrine_n man_n may_v live_v in_o sin_n unto_o the_o advancement_n of_o grace_n and_o as_o unto_o his_o sense_n hereof_o we_o may_v observe_v 1._o that_o he_o never_o return_v that_o answer_n unto_o it_o no_o not_o once_o which_o some_o think_v be_v the_o only_a answer_n whereby_o it_o may_v be_v satisfy_v and_o remove_v namely_o the_o necessity_n of_o our_o own_o personal_a righteousness_n and_o obedience_n or_o work_n in_o order_n unto_o our_o justification_n before_o god_n for_o that_o by_o faith_n without_o work_n he_o understand_v faith_n and_o work_n be_v a_o unreasonable_a supposition_n if_o any_o do_v yet_o pretend_v that_o he_o have_v give_v any_o such_o answer_n let_v they_o produce_v it_o as_o yet_o it_o have_v not_o be_v make_v to_o appear_v and_o be_v it_o not_o strange_a that_o if_o this_o indeed_o be_v his_o doctrine_n and_o the_o contrary_a a_o mistake_n of_o it_o namely_o that_o our_o personal_a righteousness_n holiness_n and_o work_n have_v a_o influence_n into_o our_o justification_n and_o be_v in_o any_o sort_n our_o righteousness_n before_o god_n therein_o that_o he_o who_o in_o a_o eminent_a manner_n every_o where_o press_v the_o necessity_n of_o they_o sheweth_z their_o true_a nature_n and_o use_n both_o in_o general_a and_o in_o particular_a duty_n of_o all_o sort_n above_o any_o of_o the_o writer_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n shall_v not_o make_v use_n of_o this_o truth_n in_o answer_n unto_o a_o objection_n wherein_o he_o be_v charge_v to_o render_v they_o all_o needless_a and_o useless_a his_o doctrine_n be_v urge_v with_o this_o objection_n as_o himself_o acknowledge_v and_o on_o the_o account_n of_o it_o reject_v by_o many_o rom._n 10.3_o 4._o gal._n 2.3_o he_o do_v see_v and_o know_v that_o the_o corrupt_a lust_n and_o deprave_a affection_n of_o the_o mind_n of_o many_o will_v supply_v they_o with_o subtle_a arguing_n against_o it_o yea_o he_o do_v foresee_v by_o the_o holy_a spirit_n as_o appear_z in_o many_o place_n of_o his_o write_n that_o it_o will_v be_v pervert_v and_o abuse_v and_o sure_o it_o be_v high_o incumbent_a on_o he_o to_o obviate_v what_o in_o he_o lay_v these_o evil_n and_o so_o state_n his_o doctrine_n upon_o this_o objection_n that_o no_o countenance_n may_v ever_o be_v give_v unto_o it_o and_o be_v it_o not_o strange_a that_o he_o shall_v not_o on_o this_o occasion_n once_o at_o least_o somewhere_o or_o other_o give_v a_o intimation_n that_o although_o he_o reject_v the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n yet_o he_o maintain_v the_o necessity_n of_o evangelical_n work_v in_o order_n unto_o our_o justification_n before_o god_n as_o the_o condition_n of_o it_o or_o that_o whereby_o we_o be_v justify_v according_a unto_o the_o gospel_n if_o this_o be_v indeed_o his_o

utter_o barren_a as_o unto_o any_o good_a work_n or_o duty_n of_o obedience_n nor_o be_v there_o any_o other_o occasion_n of_o what_o he_o write_v intimate_v in_o the_o epistle_n for_o he_o make_v no_o mention_n of_o seducer_n as_o john_n do_v express_o and_o frequent_o some_o while_n after_o against_o this_o sort_n of_o person_n or_o for_o their_o conviction_n he_o design_v two_o thing_n 1._o in_o general_a to_o prove_v the_o necessity_n of_o work_n unto_o all_o that_o profess_v the_o gospel_n or_o faith_n in_o christ_n thereby_o 2._o to_o evidence_n the_o vanity_n and_o folly_n of_o their_o pretence_n unto_o justification_n or_o that_o they_o be_v justify_v and_o shall_v be_v save_v by_o that_o faith_n that_o be_v indeed_o so_o far_o from_o be_v fruitful_a in_o good_a work_n as_o that_o it_o be_v pretend_v by_o they_o only_o to_o countenance_n themselves_o in_o sin_n unto_o these_o end_n be_v all_o his_o arguing_n design_v and_o no_o other_o he_o prove_v effectual_o that_o and_o both_o declare_v themselves_o according_o for_o we_o have_v prove_v before_o that_o there_o be_v two_o sort_n of_o faith_n wherewith_o man_n be_v say_v to_o believe_v the_o gospel_n and_o make_v profession_n thereof_o as_o also_o that_o which_o belong_v unto_o the_o one_o do_v not_o belong_v unto_o the_o other_o none_o i_o suppose_v will_v deny_v but_o that_o by_o faith_n in_o the_o matter_n
