thing_n that_o guide_v to_o god_n and_o this_o will_v singular_o conduce_v to_o thy_o security_n against_o vice_n and_o to_o thy_o establishment_n in_o virtue_n and_o thereby_o in_o tranquillity_n of_o mind_n for_o two_o thing_n concur_v to_o solid_a consolation_n clearness_n of_o apprehension_n and_o calmness_n of_o conscience_n serenity_n above_o tranquillity_n below_o the_o worst_a of_o man_n may_v have_v the_o one_o none_o but_o the_o godly_a wise_n have_v both_o the_o devil_n have_v light_a enough_o in_o his_o understanding_n though_o he_o be_v the_o prince_n of_o darkness_n his_o notion_n be_v sublime_a but_o peace_n have_v he_o none_o a_o dreadful_a storm_n may_v rage_v in_o the_o conscience_n when_o the_o sun_n shine_v clear_a in_o the_o mind_n man_n of_o great_a part_n and_o gift_n and_o deep_a head_n have_v not_o always_o the_o quiet_a heart_n the_o simple_a unlearned_a say_v one_o rise_v up_o and_o take_v heaven_n by_o violence_n whilst_o we_o with_o all_o our_o and_o a_o new_a storm_n sleep_v in_o its_o cause_n if_o thou_o be_v a_o enemy_n to_o god_n the_o witness_v within_o may_v be_v gag_v a_o while_n that_o it_o can_v speak_v out_o the_o lion_n chain_v and_o muzzle_v in_o his_o den_n that_o it_o can_v worry_v thou_o but_o afterward_o it_o will_v be_v let_v loose_a upon_o thou_o arm_v with_o the_o great_a fury_n perhaps_o even_o in_o this_o life_n and_o it_o be_v more_o tolerable_a to_o be_v lug_v into_o goodness_n by_o a_o snarl_a snatch_v tear_v conscience_n now_o than_o have_v all_o thy_o bone_n break_v and_o devour_v by_o it_o and_o the_o roar_a lion_n of_o hell_n in_o his_o den_n of_o everlasting_a darkness_n wo_n wo_n be_v to_o that_o man_n that_o never_o want_v or_o be_v without_o rest_n and_o quiet_a in_o his_o mind_n a_o dumb_a conscience_n be_v a_o dark_a one_o and_o if_o the_o light_n that_o be_v in_o thou_o be_v darkness_n how_o great_a be_v that_o darkness_n if_o nothing_o within_o thou_o do_v ever_o proclaim_v war_n nothing_o have_v right_a to_o speak_v peace_n he_o that_o never_o see_v god_n as_o a_o enemy_n never_o yet_o see_v he_o as_o a_o friend_n if_o thou_o be_v ignorant_a of_o thy_o own_o state_n thou_o be_v ignorant_a of_o god_n unacquainted_a with_o his_o peace_n with_o his_o joy_n thus_o oh_o my_o soul_n if_o thou_o be_v ambitious_a to_o enjoy_v any_o real_a approvable_a quietness_n in_o thy_o mind_n thou_o must_v maintain_v in_o it_o clearness_n of_o notion_n concern_v god_n but_o although_o there_o be_v light_n in_o the_o heaven_n it_o may_v suffer_v a_o eclipse_n or_o rather_o thou_o do_v for_o the_o light_n leave_v not_o the_o sun_n but_o the_o earth_n if_o thy_o corruption_n as_o a_o opaque_fw-la body_n interpose_v wickedness_n in_o the_o heart_n oppose_v the_o efficacy_n of_o our_o notion_n of_o god_n that_o although_o we_o retain_v they_o we_o be_v no_o better_o for_o they_o therefore_o it_o will_v be_v better_o for_o we_o be_v we_o without_o they_o none_o lie_v deep_a in_o outer_a darkness_n than_o those_o that_o ascend_v high_a in_o light_n and_o knowledge_n in_o this_o life_n but_o improve_v it_o not_o he_o that_o know_v his_o master_n will_n and_o do_v it_o not_o and_o so_o his_o master_n and_o love_v he_o not_o shall_v be_v beat_v with_o many_o stripe_n our_o passion_n be_v proportionable_a to_o our_o sensation_n the_o more_o enlarge_v
