Amen The Epistile Gal. 3.16 TO Abraham and his seed were the promises made He saith not And to seeds as of many but as of one And to thy seed which is Christ And this I say that the covenant that was confirmed before of God in Christ the law which was four hundred and thirty years after cannot disanul that it should make the promise of none effect For if the inheritance be of the law it is no more of promise but God gave it to Abraham by promise Wherefore then serveth the law It was added because of transgressions till the seed should come to whom the promise was made and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediatour Now a mediatour is not a mediatour of one but God is one Is the law then against the promises of God God forbid for if there had been a law given which could have given life verily righteousness should have been by the law But the Scripture hath concluded all under sin that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe The Gospel S. Luke 10.23 BLessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see For I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see and have not seen them and to hear those things which ye hear and have not heard them And behold a certain lawyer stood up and tempted him saying Master what shall I do to inherit eternal life He said unto him What is written in the law How readest thou And he answering said Thou shalt love

John 15.17 THese things I command you that ye love one another If the world hate you ye know that it hated me before it hated you If ye were of the world the world would love his own but because ye are not of the world but I have chosen you out of the world therefore the world hateth you Remember the word that I said unto you The servant is not greater then the Lord if they have persecuted me they will also persecute you if they have kept my saying they will keep yours also But all these things will they do unto you for my Names sake because they know not him that sent me If I had not come and spoken unto them they had not had sin but now they have no cloke for their sin He that hateth me hateth my father also If I had not done among them the works which none other man did they had not had sin but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father But this cometh to pass that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law They hated me without a cause But when the Comforter is come whom I will send unto you from the Father even the Spirit of truth which proceedeth from the Father he shall testifie of me And ye also shall bear witness because ye have been with me from the beginning All Saints day The collect O Almighty God who hast knit together thine elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of thy Son Christ our Lord Grant us grace so to follow thy blessed Saints in all virtuous and godly living that we may come to those unspeakable joys which thou hast prepared for them that unfeignedly love thee through Jesus Christ our Lord. Matth. 5.1 JEsus seeing the multitudes went up into a mountain and when he was set his disciples came unto him And he opened his mouth and taught them saying Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God Blessed are the peace-makers for they shall be called the children of God Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsly for my sake Rejoyce and be exceeding glad for great is your reward in heaven for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you The ORDER for the Administration of the LORDS SUPPER or HOLY COMMUNION ¶ SO many as intend to be partakers of the Holy Communion shall signifie their Names to the Curate at least sometime the day before ¶ And if any of those be an open and notorious evil liver or have done any wrong to his Neighbours by word or deed so that the Congregation be thereby offended the Curate having knowledge thereof shall call him and advertise him that in any wise he presume not to come to the Lords Table until he hath openly declared himself to have truly repented and amended his former naughty life that the Congregation may thereby be satisfied which before were offended and that he hath recompensed the Parties to whom he hath done wrong or at least declare himself to be in full purpose so to do as soon as he conveniently may ¶ The same Order shall the Curate use with those betwixt whom he perceiveth malice and hatred to reign not suffering them to be partakers of the Lords Table until he know them to be reconciled And if one of the Parties so at variance be content to forgive
from the bottom of his heart all that the other hath trespassed against him and to make amends for that he himself hath offended and the other Party will not be perswaded to a godly unity but remain still in his frowardness and malice the Minister in that case ought to admit the penitent Person to the Holy Communion and not him that is obstinate Provided that every Minister so repelling any as is specified in this or the next precedent Paragraph of this Rubrick shall be obliged to give an account of the same to the Ordinary within fourteen days after at the farthest And the Ordinary shall proceed against the offending Person according to the Canon ¶ The Table at the Communion-time having a fair white Linen Cloth upon it shall stand in the body of the Church or in the Chancel where Morning and Evening Prayer are appointed to be said And the Priest standing at the North-side of the Table shall say the Lords Prayer with the Collect following the People kneeling OUR Father which art in heaven Hallowed be thy Name Thy Kingdom come Thy will be done in earth As it is in heaven Give us this day our daily bread And forgive us our trespasses As we forgive them that trespass against us And lead not into temptation But deliver us from evil Amen Collect. down all rule and all authority and power For he must reign till he hath put all enemies under his feet The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death For he hath put all things under his feet But when he saith all things are put under him it is manifest that he is excepted which did put all things under him And when all things shall be subdued unto him then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him that God may be all in all Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead if the dead rise not at all why are they then baptized for the dead And why stand we in jeopardy every hour I protest by your rejoycing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord I die daily If after the manner of men I have fought with beast at Ephesus what advantageth it me if the dead rise not Let us eat and drink for to morrow we die Be not deceived evil communications corrupt good manners Awake to righteousness and sin not for some have not the knowledge of God I speak this to your shame But some man will say how are the dead raised up And with what body do they come Thou fool that which thou sowest is not quickned except it die And that which thou sowest thou sowest not that body that shall be but bare grain it may chance of wheat or of some other grain But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him and to every seed his own body All flesh is not the same flesh but there is one kind of flesh of men another flesh of beasts another of fishes and another of birds There are also celestial bodies and bodies terrestrial but the glory of the celestial is one and the glory of the terrestrial is another There is one glory of the sun and another glory of the moon and another glory of the stars for one star differeth from another star in glory So also is the resurrection of the dead It is sown in corruption it is raised in incorruption It is sown in dishonour it is raised in glory It is sown in weakness it is raised in power It is sown a natural body it is raised a spiritual body There is a natural body and there is a spiritual body And so it is written The first man Adam was made a living soul the last Adam was made a quickning Spirit Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual but that which is natural and afterward that which is spiritual The first man is of the earth earthy the second man is the Lord from heaven As is the earthy such are they that are earthy and as is the heavenly such are they also that are heavenly And as we have born the image of the earthy we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Now this I say brethren that flesh and bloud cannot inherit the kingdom of God neither doth corruption inherit incorruption Behold I shew you a mystery We shall not all sleep but we shall all be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye at the last trump for the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed For this corruptible must put on incorruption and this mortal must put on immortality So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption and this mortal shall have put on immortality then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written Death is swallowed up in victory O Death where is thy sting O grave where is thy victory The sting of death is sin and the strength of sin is the law But thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ Therefore my beloved brethren be ye stedfast unmoveable always abounding in the work of the Lord forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. ¶ When they come to the Grave while the Corps is made ready to be laid into the Earth the Priest shall say or the Priest and Clerks shall sing MAn that is born of a woman hath but a short time to live and is full of misery He cometh up and is cut down like a flower he fleeth as it were a shadow and never continueth in one stay In the midst of life were are in death of whom may we seek for succour but of thee O Lord who for our sins art justly displeased Yet O Lord God most holy O Lord most mighty O holy and most merciful Saviour deliver us not into the bitter pains of eternal death Thou knowest Lord the secrets of our
