because_o it_o be_v only_o in_o relation_n to_o the_o authority_n of_o god_n for_o though_o man_n can_v challenge_v any_o do_n or_o omission_n contrary_a to_o their_o law_n to_o be_v sin_n yet_o if_o intermeddle_v with_o it_o the_o secondary_a bond_n of_o conscience_n you_o have_v hear_v that_o the_o bond_n of_o conscience_n be_v of_o two_o sort_n first_o there_o be_v a_o supreme_a bond_n of_o conscience_n and_o that_o be_v god_n word_n of_o which_o i_o have_v already_o speak_v second_o there_o be_v a_o relative_a bond_n of_o conscience_n which_o bind_v conscience_n indeed_o but_o it_o be_v only_o in_o relation_n to_o god_n word_n because_o god_n word_n put_v authority_n upon_o it_o and_o this_o latter_a be_v also_o of_o two_o sort_n 1._o other_o may_v bind_v conscience_n 2._o we_o ourselves_o may_v bind_v our_o own_o conscience_n i._o other_o may_v bind_v our_o conscience_n i._o other_o may_v bind_v our_o conscience_n namely_o when_o they_o have_v authority_n confer_v upon_o they_o from_o god_n &_o so_o their_o law_n and_o command_n receive_v vigour_n and_o force_n from_o god_n law_n thus_o the_o law_n and_o command_n of_o magistrate_n bound_v the_o conscience_n of_o people_n of_o parent_n bound_v the_o conscience_n of_o child_n of_o master_n bound_v the_o conscience_n of_o servant_n for_o though_o they_o do_v not_o bind_v conscience_n as_o they_o be_v the_o commandment_n of_o man_n yet_o have_v god_n seal_v and_o authority_n upon_o they_o they_o do_v i_o will_v set_v down_o some_o conclusion_n whereby_o you_o may_v know_v how_o far_o the_o law_n and_o commandment_n of_o other_o bind_v or_o not_o bind_v conscience_n 1._o conclusion_n 1._o magistrate_n have_v power_n to_o command_v we_o let_v every_o soul_n be_v subject_a to_o the_o high_a power_n for_o there_o be_v no_o power_n but_o of_o god_n and_o the_o power_n that_o be_v be_v ordain_v of_o god_n rom._n 13.1_o that_o chapter_n do_v most_o clear_o prove_v this_o conclusion_n unto_o we_o out_o of_o the_o first_o part_n of_o the_o chapter_n we_o learn_v 1._o that_o magistrate_n have_v power_n and_o authority_n to_o make_v law_n and_o to_o establish_v order_n among_o man_n and_o therefore_o they_o be_v call_v power_n 2._o we_o learn_v that_o these_o law_n of_o magistrate_n receive_v strength_n and_o force_n from_o the_o law_n of_o god_n for_o the_o power_n that_o be_v be_v ordain_v of_o god_n say_v the_o text_n 3._o those_o law_n make_v by_o the_o magistrate_n and_o confirm_v by_o god_n have_v power_n to_o bind_v conscience_n vers_fw-la 5._o wherefore_o we_o must_v be_v subject_a not_o only_o because_o of_o wrath_n but_o also_o for_o conscience_n sake_n and_o the_o violate_v of_o they_o be_v sin_n when_o their_o authority_n be_v confirm_v by_o god_n we_o can_v resist_v they_o but_o we_o resist_v the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n say_v the_o apostle_n nay_o we_o may_v pull_v condemnation_n upon_o we_o if_o we_o do_v they_o that_o resist_v shall_v receive_v to_o disobedient_a to_o god_n again_o so_o far_o only_o be_v they_o to_o be_v obey_v so_o far_o only_a i_o say_v as_o they_o virtual_o do_v flow_v from_o god_n word_n for_o so_o far_o only_o they_o receive_v force_n from_o god_n law_n this_o be_v the_o first_o conclusion_n 2._o conclusion_n 2._o the_o commandment_n of_o magistrate_n and_o those_o that_o be_v in_o authority_n lose_v their_o power_n of_o bind_v the_o conscience_n in_o four_o case_n 1._o when_o they_o command_v that_o which_o though_o in_o itself_o it_o be_v not_o simple_o and_o absolute_o sinful_a and_o unlawful_a yet_o it_o do_v put_v we_o upon_o a_o necessity_n of_o sin_v as_o for_o example_n if_o a_o magistrate_n command_v single_a life_n to_o all_o minister_n this_o thing_n be_v not_o in_o itself_o simple_o unlawful_a for_o it_o be_v lawful_a to_o marry_v and_o it_o be_v lawful_a not_o to_o marry_v yet_o this_o commandment_n be_v unlawful_a because_o it_o will_v put_v minister_n upon_o a_o necessity_n how_o do_v their_o law_n bound_v we_o in_o conscience_n the_o magistrate_n only_o look_v at_o the_o body_n man_n thought_n and_o affection_n and_o conscience_n be_v naked_a only_o to_o god_n it_o be_v true_a answ_n answ_n the_o magistrate_n do_v not_o undertake_v but_o only_o to_o bind_v the_o outward_a man_n nevertheless_o the_o conscience_n of_o the_o subject_n feel_v itself_o to_o be_v bind_v like_a these_o be_v civil_a thing_n and_o not_o religious_a and_o therefore_o how_o can_v they_o bind_v conscience_n we_o make_v conscience_n only_o of_o religion_n and_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n â—nsw_n â—nsw_n such_o law_n do_v not_o bind_v conscience_n under_o the_o name_n of_o religion_n but_o under_o the_o name_n of_o civil_a discipline_n and_o again_o though_o they_o do_v not_o bind_v
