aware_a of_o it_o in_o consideration_n of_o the_o latter_a and_o therefore_o we_o be_v to_o thank_v god_n that_o there_o be_v temporal_a law_n to_o restrain_v man_n or_o at_o least_o to_o punish_v offence_n and_o wrong_n that_o man_n may_v commit_v one_o against_o another_o and_o if_o we_o be_v to_o be_v thankful_a for_o they_o most_o certain_o it_o be_v very_o lawful_a yea_o very_a prudent_a be_v no_o use_n of_o they_o at_o all_o now_o this_o it_o be_v that_o plain_o show_v our_o saviour_n rule_n here_o in_o the_o text_n to_o be_v no_o hard_a and_o grievous_a thing_n that_o although_o it_o certain_o bar_v all_o private_a revenge_n and_o restrain_v man_n from_o make_v the_o utmost_a advantage_n of_o human_a law_n yet_o it_o leave_v every_o man_n free_a to_o secure_v himself_o against_o great_a injury_n or_o to_o redress_v himself_o after_o they_o have_v be_v do_v he_o by_o the_o benefit_n of_o the_o law_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v no_o great_a trial_n of_o his_o patience_n and_o meekness_n that_o our_o saviour_n have_v here_o require_v but_o 3._o in_o the_o three_o place_n it_o must_v be_v add_v that_o in_o prosecute_a he_o that_o have_v great_o injure_v we_o or_o defend_v ourselves_o against_o one_o that_o will_v we_o must_v beware_v of_o a_o revengeful_a and_o bitter_a spirit_n for_o this_o be_v as_o much_o against_o the_o reason_n of_o the_o law_n as_o retaliate_v the_o small_a wrong_n which_o a_o man_n will_v not_o do_v if_o it_o be_v not_o more_o to_o ease_v a_o angry_a mind_n than_o to_o get_v reparation_n for_o the_o wrong_n if_o he_o do_v not_o design_n the_o trouble_v and_o vex_v of_o his_o adversary_n and_o the_o pleasure_n that_o come_v that_o way_n more_o than_o any_o real_a profit_n to_o himself_o therefore_o to_o perform_v our_o saviour_n rule_n in_o right_v ourselves_o upon_o the_o great_a wrong_n we_o must_v turn_v out_o all_o hatred_n malice_n and_o revengefulness_n out_o of_o our_o mind_n design_v no_o more_o harm_n to_o our_o adversay_v than_o what_o be_v necessary_a for_o the_o right_v of_o ourselves_o or_o for_o the_o end_n of_o common_a justice_n and_o when_o we_o have_v a_o man_n that_o have_v deserve_v any_o ill_n of_o we_o at_o a_o advantage_n we_o shall_v use_v it_o moderate_o and_o rather_o be_v satisfy_v with_o less_o reparation_n than_o be_v due_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o offence_n than_o about_o it_o although_o the_o magistrate_n be_v bind_v to_o do_v we_o right_o if_o we_o complain_v of_o the_o light_a offence_n that_o be_v by_o law_n punishable_a in_o short_a as_o to_o mere_a good_a name_n by_o a_o dangerous_a calumny_n he_o do_v exceed_v the_o degree_n of_o do_v wrong_n which_o be_v not_o to_o be_v resist_v but_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n a_o mere_a contempt_n and_o such_o a_o light_a encroachment_n upon_o our_o privilege_n or_o freedom_n or_o any_o of_o our_o right_n as_o our_o saviour_n here_o mention_n can_v yield_v no_o matter_n of_o doubt_n whether_o they_o be_v little_a enough_o to_o be_v pass_v quite_o over_o and_o therefore_o in_o the_o first_o place_n be_v sure_a to_o perform_v thy_o duty_n of_o this_o kind_n in_o all_o case_n where_o it_o be_v plain_a and_o if_o thou_o gain_v so_o much_o honesty_n and_o ingenuity_n as_o that_o come_v to_o it_o will_v give_v thou_o some_o light_n and_o direction_n where_o the_o case_n be_v doubtful_a there_o be_v indeed_o such_o variety_n in_o the_o circumstance_n of_o man_n that_o that_o which_o to_o one_o man_n will_v be_v a_o very_a small_a and_o inconsiderable_a injury_n will_v happen_v to_o be_v a_o very_a great_a one_o and_o hardly_o supportable_a by_o another_o but_o if_o it_o be_v real_o difficult_a to_o know_v whether_o the_o injury_n commit_v be_v little_a or_o great_a all_o thing_n
