whether_o christ_n have_v appoint_v seven_o or_o but_o two_o sacrament_v whether_o he_o have_v command_v we_o to_o pray_v to_o saint_n depart_v whether_o excommunication_n be_v loy_n his_o law_n etc._n etc._n we_o must_v then_o either_o say_v that_o christ_n have_v make_v no_o law_n in_o these_o thing_n or_o that_o man_n can_v mistake_v in_o they_o but_o that_o they_o who_o oppose_v the_o truth_n herein_o do_v oppose_v that_o which_o they_o know_v to_o be_v christ_n law_n or_o that_o christ_n have_v make_v and_o reveal_v a_o law_n about_o these_o thing_n but_o these_o man_n can_v see_v it_o which_o be_v contrary_a to_o the_o author_n assertion_n 3._o be_v it_o not_o enough_o to_o bind_v the_o conscience_n of_o any_o who_o sober_o seek_v to_o know_v what_o be_v the_o good_a and_o perfect_a and_o acceptable_a will_n of_o god_n that_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o word_n have_v give_v some_o intimation_n from_o which_o we_o may_v gather_v that_o such_o a_o thing_n be_v his_o will_n sure_a see_v it_o be_v his_o will_n that_o bind_v the_o conscience_n whatever_o way_n we_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o this_o will_n we_o be_v oblige_v by_o it_o to_o our_o duty_n now_o we_o may_v be_v able_a in_o some_o case_n to_o deduce_v from_o scripture_n such_o a_o thing_n to_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n though_o it_o be_v not_o set_v down_o in_o such_o evident_a term_n as_o be_v here_o mention_v as_o be_v clear_a to_o any_o who_o do_v consider_v 4._o there_o be_v many_o point_n of_o truth_n or_o many_o credenda_fw-la in_o the_o scripture_n which_o want_v such_o a_o evidence_n of_o revelation_n as_o be_v here_o require_v which_o yet_o we_o be_v to_o believe_v as_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n for_o it_o be_v clear_a that_o the_o lord_n have_v teach_v we_o many_o thing_n in_o the_o bible_n as_o it_o be_v on_o the_o bye_n and_o leave_v they_o to_o be_v gather_v from_o scripture_n assertion_n yea_o many_o time_n truth_n be_v couch_v in_o duty_n command_v as_o command_v also_o be_v comprehend_v in_o assertion_n and_o promise_n now_o if_o this_o clearness_n of_o term_n in_o the_o revelation_n of_o the_o credenda_fw-la of_o religion_n be_v not_o necessary_a to_o bind_v the_o conscience_n to_o believe_v how_o be_v it_o imaginable_a that_o it_o shall_v be_v necessary_a in_o the_o revelation_n of_o the_o agenda_fw-la to_o bind_v the_o will_n to_o act_v see_v the_o lord_n do_v as_o peremptory_o require_v we_o to_o believe_v what_o he_o have_v say_v as_o to_o do_v what_o he_o have_v command_v 5._o for_o the_o exception_n that_o he_o make_v of_o the_o change_a some_o circumstance_n of_o old_a law_n i_o see_v not_o on_o what_o foundation_n of_o reason_n the_o difference_n between_o these_o and_o new_a law_n can_v stand_v but_o that_o this_o shift_n serve_v his_o purpose_n for_o to_o take_v his_o own_o instance_n suppose_v a_o stand_a law_n for_o a_o sabbath_n and_o that_o the_o seven_o day_n must_v be_v keep_v this_o circumstance_n as_o he_o be_v please_v to_o call_v it_o that_o not_o the_o seven_o but_o the_o first_o day_n be_v keep_v be_v real_o a_o new_a law_n yea_o there_o be_v here_o two_o new_a law_n one_o abrogate_a what_o be_v before_o and_o make_v it_o no_o duty_n to_o keep_v the_o seven_o day_n another_o establish_v a_o new_a which_o be_v not_o before_o and_o make_v it_o a_o duty_n to_o keep_v the_o first_o day_n now_o if_o this_o may_v be_v think_v no_o obliginglaw_n of_o christ_n without_o that_o evidence_n of_o revelation_n which_o he_o talk_v of_o why_o may_v not_o another_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o such_o before_o if_o we_o be_v to_o look_v to_o apostolic_a practice_n as_o ground_v sufficient_a why_o we_o shall_v think_v it_o christ_n will_n that_o we_o shall_v keep_v the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n to_o the_o lord_n which_o be_v not_o do_v before_o why_o shall_v we_o not_o think_v the_o same_o ground_n sufficient_a why_o minister_n shall_v rule_v the_o church_n by_o a_o parity_n of_o authority_n yea_o reason_n will_v say_v that_o there_o be_v need_n of_o more_o clearness_n in_o the_o revelation_n of_o christ_n will_n for_o alter_v a_o stand_a law_n in_o such_o of_o its_o circumstance_n as_o do_v annul_v one_o duty_n and_o establish_v another_o than_o for_o settle_v that_o as_o duty_n which_o be_v altogether_o new_a see_v in_o the_o former_a we_o must_v both_o know_v the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o abrogate_a and_o establish_v in_o the_o late_a we_o be_v to_o know_v only_o that_o he_o will_v establish_v sucha_fw-mi thing_n §_o 13._o in_o his_o examination_n of_o what_o make_v a_o unalterable_a divine_a right_n i_o agree_v to_o most_o that_o he_o teach_v only_o his_o postulatum_fw-la p._n 14._o one_o which_o he_o build_v all_o his_o assertion_n need_v to_o be_v a_o little_a clear_v he_o assert_v that_o nothing_o can_v be_v found_v on_o divine_a right_n nor_o bind_v believer_n as_o a_o positive_a law_n but_o what_o may_v be_v certain_o know_v to_o have_v come_v from_o have_v plerophorie_n in_o most_o thing_n i_o agree_v with_o he_o that_o a_o divine_a right_n be_v build_v on_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o on_o the_o immutable_a positive_a law_n of_o god_n also_o that_o these_o be_v three_o good_a mark_n of_o the_o immutability_n of_o divine_a positive_a law_n which_o he_o bring_v viz._n when_o the_o reason_n of_o the_o law_n remain_v when_o god_n have_v declare_v such_o a_o law_n never_o to_o be_v change_v when_o it_o conduce_v to_o the_o be_v of_o a_o society_n that_o he_o will_v have_v to_o continue_v only_o i_o can_v see_v how_o these_o espeeial_o the_o former_a two_o mark_n do_v consist_v with_o the_o mutability_n of_o that_o church_n government_n in_o these_o thing_n we_o controvert_v about_o which_o the_o apostle_n practise_v no_o doubt_n as_o be_v christ_n will_n and_o law_n see_v there_o be_v the_o same_o reason_n for_o parity_n now_o that_o then_o be_v and_o christ_n have_v not_o say_v that_o he_o will_v have_v it_o alter_v in_o after_o age_n §_o 14._o page_n 23._o he_o come_v to_o examine_v some_o pretence_n as_o he_o be_v please_v to_o call_v they_o for_o a_o divine_a right_n and_o first_o he_o labour_v to_o enervate_v the_o argument_n for_o the_o divine_a right_n of_o church-government_n take_v from_o apostolical_a practice_n of_o which_o he_o promise_v to_o say_v more_o after_o but_o what_o he_o here_o say_v we_o shall_v examine_v i_o yield_v to_o he_o that_o all_o scripture_n example_n do_v not_o bind_v neither_o do_v any_o example_n bound_v as_o a_o example_n also_o that_o the_o rule_n whereby_o we_o know_v what_o example_n do_v bind_v be_v not_o immediate_o obligatory_a but_o directive_n i_o grant_v likewise_o that_o in_o such_o example_n that_o which_o bind_v we_o be_v either_o the_o moral_a nature_n of_o their_o action_n or_o a_o law_n command_v we_o to_o follow_v they_o i_o answer_v as_o to_o the_o first_o there_o need_v no_o particular_a demonstration_n of_o the_o morality_n of_o apostolic_a action_n but_o this_o we_o can_v say_v for_o they_o the_o nature_n and_o condition_n of_o the_o action_n and_o the_o apostle_n do_v of_o they_o be_v consider_v reason_n will_v not_o suffer_v we_o to_o question_v the_o morality_n of_o they_o i_o mean_v it_o be_v certain_a that_o they_o be_v the_o will_n of_o christ_n for_o we_o must_v think_v that_o in_o matter_n not_o light_a and_o occasional_a but_o weighty_a and_o of_o great_a concernment_n whether_o they_o be_v well_o or_o ill_o do_v and_o which_o be_v do_v on_o mature_a deliberation_n as_o the_o administration_n of_o the_o affair_n of_o christ_n house_n in_o matter_n i_o
say_v of_o this_o nature_n we_o be_v to_o think_v that_o the_o apostle_n do_v that_o which_o be_v best_o and_o most_o approve_a of_o god_n they_o be_v infallible_o guide_v by_o his_o spirit_n now_o that_o which_o be_v best_a to_o they_o must_v certain_o be_v best_o to_o we_o also_o we_o manage_v the_o same_o affair_n except_o some_o diversity_n of_o our_o case_n from_o they_o can_v be_v show_v wherefore_o we_o be_v oblige_v to_o think_v that_o the_o parity_n of_o minister_n in_o rule_v the_o church_n be_v christ_n will_n and_o so_o a_o moral_a duty_n not_o a_o thing_n indifferent_a see_v it_o be_v so_o in_o the_o apostolic_a church_n as_o i_o suppose_v be_v prove_v by_o the_o maintainer_n of_o that_o way_n and_o there_o be_v no_o reason_n why_o it_o shall_v be_v otherwise_o with_o we_o than_o with_o they_o for_o the_o second_o we_o have_v also_o a_o law_n for_o follow_v apostolical_a example_n as_o we_o have_v for_o follow_v christ_n example_n which_o our_o author_n say_v make_v it_o our_o duty_n viz._n 1_o cor._n 4.16_o wherefore_o i_o beseech_v you_o be_v you_o follower_n of_o i_o 1_o cor._n 11.1_o be_v you_o follower_n of_o i_o even_o as_o i_o be_o of_o christ_n and_o lest_o any_o think_v that_o this_o command_n of_o imitation_n be_v only_o in_o reference_n to_o duty_n otherways_o know_v to_o be_v such_o as_o faith_n love_n etc._n etc._n it_o be_v evident_a that_o this_o last_o place_n relate_v to_o church_n administration_n for_o he_o prefix_v this_o exhortation_n to_o the_o doctrine_n of_o decency_n and_o purity_n in_o their_o worship_n beside_o that_o the_o exhortation_n be_v general_a can_v suffer_v no_o exception_n but_o where_o imitation_n will_v not_o have_v the_o same_o morality_n in_o we_o that_o give_v example_n have_v in_o they_o viz._n on_o our_o adversary_n to_o show_v a_o reason_n why_o they_o do_v such_o thing_n which_o do_v not_o agree_v to_o our_o case_n or_o else_o to_o submit_v to_o that_o way_n as_o that_o which_o be_v christ_n law_n for_o the_o other_o ground_n of_o divine_a right_n that_o he_o examine_v we_o insist_v not_o on_o they_o as_o not_o be_v necessary_a to_o the_o defence_n of_o that_o truth_n which_o we_o maintain_v wherefore_o i_o wave_v what_o may_v be_v say_v against_o what_o he_o there_o dispute_v chap._n ii_o §_o 1._o in_o the_o second_o chapter_n of_o the_o first_o part_n of_o his_o irenicum_fw-la he_o lay_v some_o hypothesis_n for_o a_o foundation_n of_o his_o follow_a discourse_n where_o i_o shall_v pass_v over_o in_o silence_n these_o thing_n that_o have_v truth_n in_o they_o thing_n need_v our_o remark_n he_o set_v it_o down_o thus_o in_o thing_n which_o be_v determine_v both_o by_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o divine_a positive_a law_n as_o to_o the_o substance_n and_o morality_n of_o they_o but_o not_o determine_v as_o to_o all_o circumstance_n belong_v to_o they_o it_o be_v in_o the_o power_n of_o lawful_a authority_n in_o the_o church_n of_o god_n to_o determine_v they_o so_o far_o as_o they_o judge_v they_o tend_v to_o the_o promote_a of_o the_o performance_n of_o they_o in_o due_a manner_n two_o thing_n in_o this_o hypothesis_n i_o condemn_v 1._o that_o he_o warrant_v man_n to_o determine_v thing_n undetermined_a in_o the_o church_n so_o far_o as_o they_o judge_v needful_a he_o shall_v have_v say_v so_o far_o as_o be_v needful_a for_o if_o we_o hold_v this_o his_o assertion_n in_o terminis_fw-la superstitious_a man_n in_o lawful_a authority_n may_v bind_v we_o in_o all_o thing_n where_o christ_n have_v leave_v we_o free_a so_o that_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v lawful_a to_o speak_v look_v or_o act_v in_o the_o church_n but_o as_o they_o think_v fit_a and_o indeed_o here_o be_v a_o foundation_n for_o almost_o all_o the_o ceremony_n that_o either_o pope_n or_o prelate_n ever_o burden_a the_o church_n of_o god_n with_o they_o be_v nothing_o but_o determination_n of_o what_o be_v leave_v undetermined_a and_o they_o judge_v they_o to_o tend_v to_o promote_v worship_n as_o it_o be_v not_o determine_v what_o garment_n a_o minister_n shall_v wear_v the_o church_n judge_v a_o surplice_n to_o tend_v to_o promote_v worship_n then_o by_o this_o hypothesis_n the_o church_n may_v determine_v this_o which_o be_v not_o only_o against_o truth_n as_o may_v easy_o be_v show_v if_o that_o be_v now_o my_o work_n but_o also_o against_o this_o author_n who_o declare_v himself_o against_o ceremony_n of_o man_n appoint_v 2._o that_o he_o extend_v this_o determine_a power_n so_o far_o that_o not_o only_a thing_n undetermined_a and_o that_o must_v be_v determine_v otherwise_o the_o ordinance_n can_v be_v go_v about_o without_o defect_n or_o sin_n may_v be_v determine_v by_o lawful_a authority_n for_o this_o we_o grant_v and_o therefore_o do_v close_o with_o his_o example_n of_o appoint_v the_o place_n and_o hour_n for_o worship_n but_o also_o thing_n that_o they_o judge_v tend_v to_o promote_v the_o due_a manner_n of_o the_o ordinance_n may_v be_v thus_o determine_v which_o a_o little_a after_o he_o expound_v of_o the_o decency_n and_o solemnity_n of_o worship_n this_o we_o can_v assent_v to_o for_o there_o be_v no_o pompous_a ceremony_n that_o ever_o man_n devise_v but_o they_o judge_v it_o fit_a to_o promote_v the_o solemnity_n of_o worship_n and_o indeed_o the_o scripture_n condemn_v the_o pompousness_n and_o gaudiness_n of_o worship_n and_o commend_v the_o simplicity_n of_o it_o say_v plain_o that_o it_o be_v not_o leave_v to_o man_n to_o add_v their_o determination_n to_o god_n to_o make_v the_o worship_n as_o solemn_a as_o they_o judge_v meet_v but_o that_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v content_a with_o that_o solemnity_n which_o be_v make_v in_o worship_n by_o god_n institution_n and_o the_o needful_a determination_n of_o circumstance_n neither_o can_v this_o blow_n to_o his_o hypothesis_n be_v evit_v by_o say_v that_o he_o speak_v only_o of_o circumstance_n which_o we_o confess_v may_v be_v determine_v by_o the_o church_n for_o 1._o all_o ceremony_n be_v also_o circumstance_n and_o he_o do_v not_o here_o mention_v mere_a circumstance_n to_o exclude_v ceremony_n from_o the_o determ_v power_n of_o authority_n in_o the_o church_n 2._o though_o he_o shall_v be_v understand_v of_o mere_a circumstance_n viz._n which_o be_v such_o before_o they_o be_v determine_v as_o the_o habit_n in_o which_o we_o be_v to_o worship_v yet_o even_o such_o when_o they_o be_v determine_v by_o man_n without_o necessity_n only_o that_o they_o may_v add_v to_o the_o worship_n a_o decency_n which_o be_v not_o needful_a by_o nature_n civil_a custom_n nor_o divine_a institution_n they_o become_v religious_a ceremony_n their_o end_n be_v religious_a and_o they_o be_v peculiar_a to_o religion_n as_o i_o have_v show_v in_o another_o piece_n §_o 3._o it_o seem_v to_o i_o very_o strange_a and_o not_o to_o be_v pass_v over_o in_o our_o animadversion_n that_o in_o the_o prosecute_n of_o this_o his_o hypothesis_n wherein_o he_o have_v ascribe_v a_o determine_a power_n to_o lawful_a authority_n in_o the_o church_n he_o take_v notice_n of_o no_o power_n or_o authority_n seat_v in_o churchman_n but_o speak_v only_o of_o the_o magistrate_n for_o p._n 38._o show_v why_o there_o be_v need_n to_o prove_v this_o hypothesis_n he_o tell_v we_o of_o some_o that_o give_v no_o power_n and_o some_o that_o give_v little_a power_n to_o the_o magistrate_n about_o religion_n and_o then_o fall_v upon_o a_o large_a debate_n of_o the_o magistrate_n power_n in_o church-matter_n which_o be_v a_o evident_a suppose_n that_o all_o church-power_n be_v in_o the_o magistrate_n and_o in_o none_o else_o otherwise_o this_o discourse_n shall_v be_v very_o impertinent_a to_o his_o hypothesis_n but_o this_o supposition_n be_v a_o gross_a falsehood_n as_o be_v full_o prove_v by_o many_o worthy_a man_n against_o erastus_n and_o his_o follower_n i_o shall_v not_o now_o engage_v in_o
and_o expose_v to_o the_o will_n of_o man_n who_o may_v and_o ready_o will_v err_v 2._o the_o difference_n that_o he_o make_v between_o the_o law_n and_o the_o gospel_n be_v most_o false_a viz._n that_o there_o all_o circumstance_n of_o worship_n be_v determine_v here_o not_o so_o yea_o it_o be_v with_o more_o truth_n observe_v by_o some_o that_o more_o circumstance_n of_o worship_n be_v leave_v to_o the_o prudence_n of_o man_n under_o the_o law_n than_o now_o under_o the_o gospel_n for_o every_o one_o of_o their_o action_n impose_v as_o sacrifice_n wash_n etc._n etc._n have_v of_o necessity_n abundance_n of_o circumstance_n attend_v they_o as_o when_o how_o with_o what_o instrument_n etc._n etc._n wherefore_o the_o more_o ordinance_n there_o be_v the_o more_o circumstance_n undetermined_a there_o be_v indeed_o this_o difference_n that_o god_n under_o the_o law_n do_v by_o his_o command_n place_n religion_n in_o many_o natural_a circumstance_n of_o worship_n as_o in_o the_o day_n of_o circumcision_n of_o kill_v the_o passover_n etc._n etc._n and_o so_o set_v they_o above_o the_o degree_n of_o mere_a circumstance_n which_o he_o have_v not_o do_v under_o the_o gospel_n but_o it_o do_v not_o follow_v that_o all_o thing_n even_o of_o greaat_a moment_n to_o church-order_n and_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n be_v now_o leave_v free_a because_o we_o have_v not_o so_o many_o ceremony_n as_o the_o jew_n have_v for_o those_o circumstance_n which_o be_v of_o civil_a and_o common_a concernment_n to_o religion_n and_o other_o action_n be_v leave_v to_o prudence_n and_o matter_n relate_v to_o the_o government_n of_o the_o church_n which_o be_v of_o that_o nature_n be_v also_o leave_v free_a yet_o we_o must_v not_o for_o that_o think_v that_o the_o government_n itself_o as_o manage_v even_o the_o substance_n of_o it_o which_o must_v lie_v in_o a_o particular_a form_n see_v a_o general_a notion_n of_o government_n be_v not_o practicable_a be_v leave_v to_o the_o will_n of_o man_n i_o hope_v our_o author_n will_v not_o say_v that_o the_o form_n of_o government_n be_v a_o circumstance_n neither_o ought_v he_o to_o say_v that_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n of_o common_a concernment_n to_o the_o church_n and_o other_o society_n the_o church_n be_v a_o society_n singular_a and_o of_o another_o nature_n than_o other_o cant._n 6.9_o she_o be_v but_o one_o the_o only_a one_o of_o her_o mother_n therefore_o her_o government_n must_v be_v suitable_a wherefore_o it_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v put_v in_o in_o the_o same_o case_n with_o the_o natural_a be_v no_o solid_a refutation_n i_o hope_v the_o church_n may_v be_v bind_v to_o a_o particular_a form_n of_o government_n viz._n to_o parity_n of_o minister_n and_o yet_o have_v liberty_n in_o abundance_n of_o circumstance_n his_o example_n of_o a_o schoolboy_n and_o one_o at_o the_o university_n of_o a_o son_n when_o a_o child_n and_o when_o at_o age_n make_v nothing_o against_o we_o for_o in_o both_o case_n they_o be_v in_o subjection_n to_o some_o positive_a command_n of_o the_o master_n or_o father_n so_o be_v the_o gospel-church_n under_o some_o such_o command_n though_o not_o so_o many_o as_o the_o jew_n be_v 2._o be_v it_o contrary_a to_o gospel-perfection_n to_o be_v under_o the_o command_v of_o christ_n as_o to_o a_o form_n of_o church_n government_n and_o to_o be_v rule_v shall_v here_o decide_v the_o matter_n by_o a_o general_a law_n it_o be_v not_o like_o the_o time_n or_o place_n of_o meeting_n which_o must_v vary_v in_o divers_a place_n neither_o can_v he_o show_v theocratia_n to_o give_v they_o both_o kind_n of_o law_n immediate_o from_o himself_o that_o see_v he_o have_v under_o the_o gospel_n do_v otherwise_o as_o to_o state-government_n he_o have_v also_o do_v otherwise_o as_o to_o church-government_n what_o a_o mad_a kind_n of_o consequence_n be_v this_o and_o there_o be_v evident_a reason_n of_o this_o differ_a dispensation_n under_o the_o law_n and_o under_o the_o gospel_n i_o suppose_v if_o the_o difference_n of_o case_n that_o arise_v from_o variety_n of_o circumstance_n do_v permit_v it_o be_v the_o happy_a case_n for_o god_n people_n must_v be_v superad_v to_o the_o determination_n of_o nature_n law_n will_v have_v make_v the_o bible_n a_o burden_n to_o man_n but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o in_o ecclesiastical_a matter_n there_o be_v nothing_o peculiar_a to_o the_o church_n as_o a_o church_n or_o religious_a society_n but_o suppose_v what_o nature_n dictate_v may_v without_o burdened_a people_n with_o many_o law_n be_v determine_v and_o impose_v upon_o all_o hence_o be_v it_o that_o the_o lord_n see_v it_o for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o jewish_a church_n to_o give_v they_o both_o civil_a and_o church-law_n and_o for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o gospel_n church_n to_o give_v they_o church-law_n but_o to_o leave_v civil-law_n to_o prudence_n guide_v by_o the_o general_a rule_n of_o scripture_n and_o nature_n neither_o do_v i_o think_v as_o our_o author_n seem_v sometime_o to_o think_v that_o it_o be_v any_o part_n of_o legal_a bondage_n to_o have_v law_n from_o god_n even_o in_o the_o least_o matter_n and_o that_o which_o be_v christian_a liberty_n to_o be_v free_a from_o god_n law_n in_o these_o thing_n when_o we_o be_v bind_v to_o the_o same_o by_o the_o law_n of_o man_n i_o shall_v rather_o prefer_v their_o state_n to_o we_o thus_o far_o but_o their_o bondage_n be_v to_o have_v many_o thing_n determine_v and_o impose_v upon_o they_o which_o be_v natural_o indifferent_a and_o so_o free_a which_o the_o lord_n have_v now_o leave_v free_a under_o the_o gospel_n answ_n 2._o it_o be_v not_o to_o the_o purpose_n to_o tell_v we_o that_o the_o government_n of_o the_o tribe_n of_o levy_n be_v like_o that_o of_o the_o other_o tribe_n for_o church-government_n be_v very_o different_a from_o civil_a government_n for_o all_o that_o viz._n in_o this_o that_o it_o be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o tribe_n of_o levy_n and_o no_o other_o tribe_n which_o be_v a_o positive_a institution_n of_o god_n that_o it_o do_v cognosce_fw-la of_o other_o matter_n than_o civil_a government_n do_v that_o it_o do_v inflict_v other_o censure_n but_o let_v it_o be_v never_o so_o co-incident_a with_o civil_a government_n yet_o it_o be_v of_o god_n institution_n which_o be_v all_o that_o be_v needful_a to_o our_o of_o the_o jewish_a synagogue_n and_o beside_o it_o be_v reason_n enough_o why_o they_o shall_v do_v this_o if_o it_o be_v not_o prove_v that_o they_o do_v other_o wise_a see_v they_o be_v guide_v by_o a_o infallible_a spirit_n not_o lead_v by_o man_n custom_n in_o their_o action_n i_o find_v no_o further_o proof_n of_o this_o consideration_n but_o that_o they_o do_v not_o only_o gather_v church_n out_o of_o synagogue_n but_o that_o in_o probability_n whole_a synagogue_n in_o some_o place_n be_v convert_v what_o ground_n there_o be_v for_o this_o probability_n i_o know_v not_o we_o read_v nothing_o of_o it_o as_o we_o read_v of_o whole_a house_n convert_v neither_o see_v i_o any_o reason_n to_o think_v that_o the_o apostle_n do_v respect_n synagogue_n in_o their_o reform_a church_n they_o make_v the_o church_n of_o they_o who_o have_v before_o be_v in_o the_o synagogue_n and_o that_o i_o believe_v they_o do_v according_a to_o the_o people_n best_a conveniency_n for_o partake_v of_o ordinance_n together_o but_o that_o their_o synagogue_n be_v their_o pattern_n i_o see_v not_o another_o argument_n from_o the_o jewish_a and_o gentiles_n coetus_fw-la he_o will_v attain_v the_o end_n of_o government_n answer_n wherein_o the_o synagogue-model_n be_v in_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o thing_n fit_v to_o the_o state_n of_o the_o gospel_n we_o do_v not_o say_v that_o the_o apostle_n will_v reject_v such_o a_o good_a thing_n because_o use_v by_o the_o synagogue_n only_o we_o deny_v that_o they_o use_v it_o because_o the_o synagogue_n use_v it_o so_o this_o prove_v nothing_o further_o it_o prove_v only_a co-incidency_n between_o the_o church_n and_o synagogue-government_n in_o this_o general_n that_o both_o be_v such_o as_o may_v consist_v without_o secular_a power_n but_o divers_a particular_a form_n may_v be_v of_o this_o nature_n so_o that_o there_o be_v no_o need_n from_o this_o consideration_n that_o the_o church_n and_o the_o synagogue_n be_v govern_v by_o the_o same_o model_n sect._n 8._o we_o see_v how_o probable_a he_o have_v make_v this_o his_o assertion_n he_o come_v p._n 261._o to_o show_v what_o particular_a practice_n of_o the_o synagogue_n the_o apostle_n do_v take_v up_o and_o follow_v and_o first_o he_o speak_v of_o their_o public_a service_n in_o the_o church_n where_o all_o that_o he_o can_v attain_v to_o be_v this_o that_o there_o be_v in_o the_o church_n as_o there_o have_v be_v in_o the_o synagogue_n solemn_a prayer_n praise_n read_v of_o scripture_n and_o teach_v of_o the_o people_n out_o of_o it_o all_o which_o be_v part_n of_o moral_a worship_n and_o will_v have_v be_v in_o the_o church_n though_o there_o have_v never_o be_v a_o synagogue_n to_o take_v example_n by_o he_o be_v force_v to_o not_o in_o it_o which_o one_o consideration_n destroy_v all_o that_o he_o be_v at_o so_o much_o pain_n to_o establish_v for_o if_o christ_n and_o his_o apostle_n have_v make_v the_o synagogue_n their_o pattern_n they_o may_v easy_o have_v conform_v to_o they_o in_o read_v the_o section_n of_o the_o law_n and_o take_v the_o lord_n supper_n from_o some_o of_o their_o custom_n as_o well_o as_o they_o do_v baptism_n as_o this_o author_n allege_v next_o he_o come_v p._n 264._o to_o ordination_n about_o which_o he_o make_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o do_v but_o to_o no_o purpose_n for_o
