luke_n xviii_o 1._o he_o speak_v a_o parable_n to_o they_o to_o this_o end_n that_o man_n ought_v always_o to_o pray_v and_o not_o to_o faint_v v._o 18._o one_o come_v to_o he_o and_o ask_v he_o say_v master_n what_o shall_v i_o do_v to_o inherit_v eternal_a life_n jesus_n say_v to_o he_o if_o thou_o will_v enter_v into_o life_n keep_v the_o commandment_n he_o say_v which_o jesus_n say_v thou_o know_v the_o commandment_n thou_o shall_v not_o kill_v thou_o shall_v not_o commit_v adultery_n thou_o shall_v not_o steal_v thou_o shall_v not_o bear_v false_a witness_n defraud_n not_o honour_v thy_o father_n and_o thy_o mother_n and_o thou_o shall_v love_v thy_o neighbour_n as_o thyself_o he_o say_v all_z these_o have_v i_o observe_v from_o my_o youth_n jesus_n hear_v this_o love_v he_o of_o the_o messiah_n the_o jew_n believe_v that_o when_o the_o messiah_n come_v those_o of_o their_o nation_n that_o receive_v he_o shall_v not_o die_v but_o that_o they_o with_o those_o who_o be_v dead_a shall_v then_o be_v raise_v again_o by_o he_o shall_v enjoy_v eternal_a life_n with_o he_o our_o saviour_n in_o answer_n to_o this_o demand_v tell_v the_o young_a man_n that_o to_o obtain_v the_o eternal_a life_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o messiah_n he_o must_v keep_v the_o commandment_n and_o then_o enumerate_v several_a of_o the_o precept_n of_o the_o law_n the_o young_a man_n say_v he_o have_v observe_v these_o from_o his_o childhood_n for_o which_o the_o text_n tell_v we_o jesus_n love_v he_o but_o our_o saviour_n to_o try_v whether_o in_o earnest_n he_o believe_v he_o to_o be_v the_o messiah_n and_o resolve_v to_o take_v he_o to_o be_v his_o king_n and_o to_o obey_v he_o as_o such_o bid_v he_o give_v all_o he_o have_v to_o the_o poor_a and_o come_v and_o follow_v he_o and_o he_o shall_v have_v treasure_n in_o heaven_n this_o i_o look_v on_o to_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o place_n this_o of_o sell_v all_o he_o have_v and_o give_v it_o to_o the_o poor_a not_o be_v a_o stand_a law_n of_o his_o kingdom_n but_o a_o probationary_a command_n to_o this_o young_a man_n to_o try_v whether_o he_o true_o believe_v he_o to_o be_v the_o messiah_n and_o be_v ready_a to_o obey_v his_o command_n and_o relinquish_v all_o to_o follow_v he_o when_o he_o his_o prince_n require_v it_o and_o therefore_o we_o see_v luke_n xix_o 14._o where_o our_o saviour_n take_v notice_n of_o the_o jew_n not_o receive_v he_o as_o the_o messiah_n he_o express_v it_o thou_o we_o will_v not_o have_v this_o man_n to_o reign_v over_o we_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o believe_v they_o can_v have_v attain_v by_o their_o own_o performance_n there_o will_v have_v be_v no_o need_n of_o this_o gracious_a allowance_n in_o reward_n of_o their_o faith_n but_o eternal_a life_n after_o the_o resurrection_n have_v be_v their_o due_n by_o a_o former_a covenant_n even_o that_o of_o work_n the_o rule_n whereof_o be_v never_o abolish_v though_o the_o rigour_n be_v abate_v the_o duty_n enjoin_v in_o it_o be_v duty_n still_o their_o obligation_n have_v never_o cease_v nor_o a_o wilful_a neglect_n of_o they_o be_v ever_o dispense_v with_o but_o their_o past_a transgression_n be_v pardon_v to_o those_o who_o receive_v jesus_n the_o promise_a messiah_n for_o their_o king_n and_o their_o future_a slip_n cover_v if_o renounce_v their_o former_a iniquity_n they_o enter_v into_o his_o kingdom_n and_o continue_v his_o subject_n with_o a_o steady_a resolution_n and_o endeavour_n to_o obey_v his_o law_n this_o righteousness_n therefore_o a_o complete_a obedience_n and_o freedom_n from_o sin_n be_v still_o sincere_o to_o be_v endeavour_v after_o and_o it_o be_v no_o where_o promise_v that_o those_o who_o persist_v in_o a_o wilful_a disobedience_n to_o his_o law_n shall_v be_v receive_v into_o the_o eternal_a bliss_n of_o his_o kingdom_n how_o much_o soever_o they_o believe_v in_o he_o a_o sincere_a obedience_n how_o can_v any_o one_o doubt_n to_o be_v or_o scruple_n to_o call_v a_o condition_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n as_o well_o as_o faith_n whoever_o read_v our_o saviour_n sermon_n in_o the_o mount_n to_o omit_v all_o the_o rest_n can_v any_o thing_n be_v more_o express_a than_o these_o word_n of_o our_o lord_n mat._n vi_o 14._o if_o you_o forgive_v man_n their_o trespass_n your_o heavenly_a father_n will_v also_o forgive_v you_o but_o if_o you_o forgive_v not_o man_n their_o trespass_n neither_o will_v your_o father_n forgive_v your_o trespass_n and_o joh._n xiii_o 17._o if_o you_o know_v these_o thing_n happy_a be_v you_o if_o you_o do_v they_o this_o be_v so_o indispensible_a a_o condition_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n that_o believe_v without_o it_o will_v not_o do_v nor_o be_v accept_v if_o our_o saviour_n know_v the_o
