our_o manifold_a oath_n and_o covenant_n we_o stand_v oblige_v to_o render_v to_o they_o to_o which_o i_o answer_v that_o if_o god_n have_v immediate_o which_o your_o word_n will_v seem_v to_o imply_v institute_v and_o appoint_v y●u●_n party_n in_o the_o parliament_n to_o be_v sole_a without_o other_o conjoin_v magistrate_n over_o we_o and_o have_v enjoin_v we_o universal_a in_o all_o case_n for_o which_o we_o have_v neither_o precept_n nor_o precedent_n in_o god_n word_n obedience_n to_o they_o it_o will_v have_v be_v sin_n in_o the_o army_n in_o resist_v they_o but_o since_o god_n set_v not_o all_o magistrate_n in_o that_o h●_n set_v not_o tyrant_n over_o we_o otherwise_o then_o by_o permission_n those_o be_v neer●st_v unto_o god_n ordination_n that_o receive_v their_o authority_n by_o his_o rule_n which_o be_v now_o only_o through_o free_a election_n and_o that_o not_o to_o a_o absolute_a power_n to_o govern_v as_o they_o listen_v for_o then_o the_o people_n lose_v their_o end_n viz._n th●ir_n own_o good_a in_o their_o choice_n but_o to_o walk_v according_a to_o the_o rule_n that_o shall_v be_v prescribe_v they_o a_fw-la great_a defect_n through_o the_o usurpation_n of_o predecessing_n magstrate_v till_o of_o late_a day_n in_o our_o law_n to_o discharge_v the_o end_n of_o their_o respective_a office_n and_o to_o perform_v the_o condition_n upon_o which_o they_o be_v choose_v or_o at_o least_o for_o which_o they_o be_v intend_v magistrate_n but_o now_o those_o that_o usurp_v authority_n respect_v none_o of_o these_o rule_n and_o therefore_o not_o lawful_a magistrate_n for_o a_o lawful_a magistrate_n can_v and_o know_v not_o how_o to_o govern_v well_o in_o that_o every_o particular_a expedient_a for_o the_o people_n good_a in_o civil_a government_n be_v not_o write_v in_o his_o heart_n without_o a_o rule_n which_v the_o people_n only_o be_v best_a able_a to_o prescribe_v see_v they_o know_v best_o their_o own_o want_n now_o then_o in_o what_o yond_o charge_n the_o army_n of_o disobedience_n as_o universal_a without_o exception_n to_o any_o yourselves_o be_v guilty_a in_o the_o same_o by_o comply_v which_o i_o urge_v against_o you_o allow_v it_o in_o yourselves_o and_o yet_o reprove_v it_o in_o they_o as_o a_o example_n unto_o though_o just_a in_o hem_o but_o unjust_a in_o you_o in_o that_o you_o now_o all●dge_v universal_a ●bedienc●_n not_o to_o ye●ld_v obedience_n to_o all_o magistrate_n against_o the_o late_a king_n let_v your_o pretence_n be_v what_o it_o will_v viz._n that_o you_o engage_v against_o his_o evil_a council_n or_o the_o like_a in_o your_o then_o engage_v against_o they_o you_o engage_v against_o he_o abet_v and_o induce_v of_o they_o thereto_o which_o be_v clear_o testine_v by_o his_o approof_n in_o which_o he_o die_v as_o to_o all_o outward_a appearance_n of_o they_o therein_o and_o therefore_o to_o what_o you_o accuse_v the_o army_n for_o oppose_v lawful_a authority_n i_o answer_v that_o beside_o that_o preci●ed_n your_o own_o example_n they_o have_v the_o reason_n and_o righteousness_n of_o the_o act_n itself_o to_o justify_v they_o in_o their_o opposition_n to_o your_o party_n which_o have_v then_o the_o major_a vote_n in_o parliament_n and_o by_o u●tu●_fw-la whereof_o you_o call_v they_o lawful_a authority_n
