the_o knowledge_n of_o ourselves_o excellent_a estate_n wherein_o we_o be_v create_v of_o our_o fall_n whereby_o we_o lose_v and_o forfeit_v that_o estate_n and_o how_o again_o we_o be_v restore_v infinite_a misery_n and_o that_o he_o bring_v death_n upon_o himself_o and_o upon_o all_o his_o posterity_n and_o so_o through_o sin_n he_o change_v the_o image_n of_o god_n into_o the_o image_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o cause_v that_o his_o offspring_n and_o posterity_n shall_v be_v by_o nature_n the_o child_n of_o wrath_n and_o subject_a to_o misery_n death_n and_o damnation_n concern_v the_o restore_n of_o man_n we_o read_v that_o god_n restore_n his_o restore_n mercy_n herein_o be_v great_a and_o singular_a who_o according_a to_o his_o infinite_a and_o unspeakable_a goodness_n pity_v man_n misery_n of_o his_o mere_a grace_n â—nd_v favour_n do_v give_v his_o own_o son_n to_o death_n for_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o that_o the_o mean_v whereby_o man_n shall_v be_v gift_n and_o grace_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n that_o they_o may_v be_v frame_v to_o express_v the_o image_n of_o god_n in_o their_o life_n and_o conversation_n that_o they_o may_v be_v holy_a both_o in_o body_n and_o soul_n and_o so_o recover_v their_o former_a estate_n and_o become_v fellow_n heir_n with_o christ_n of_o everlasting_a life_n be_v immortal_a and_o bless_a and_o eternal_o glorify_v and_o thus_o when_o in_o our_o painful_a endeavour_n we_o shall_v perceive_v that_o god_n have_v grant_v unto_o we_o to_o understand_v his_o will_n and_o his_o word_n it_o will_v breed_v a_o inward_a comfort_n in_o our_o heart_n and_o conscience_n which_o shall_v be_v a_o sufficient_a witness_n unto_o we_o both_o of_o god_n love_n and_o favour_n and_o of_o his_o save_n and_o everlasting_a mercy_n nation_n under_o the_o sun_n neither_o have_v the_o heathen_a knowledge_n of_o his_o law_n which_o great_a blessing_n and_o the_o only_a treasure_n of_o all_o treasure_n we_o enjoy_v through_o the_o mercy_n and_o favour_n of_o god_n shall_v we_o be_v find_v so_o negligent_a as_o not_o to_o search_v and_o spend_v some_o time_n and_o study_v therein_o the_o time_n shall_v come_v say_v christ_n that_o you_o shall_v desire_v one_o of_o the_o day_n of_o the_o son_n of_o man_n and_o shall_v not_o see_v they_o what_o if_o god_n shall_v send_v a_o famine_n not_o of_o bread_n nor_o of_o bodily_a return_v unto_o he_o by_o which_o forbear_v many_o be_v win_v to_o god_n as_o also_o the_o worst_a sort_n be_v harden_v against_o the_o day_n of_o wrath_n heap_v unto_o themselves_o vengeance_n against_o the_o day_n of_o the_o declaration_n of_o god_n just_a judgement_n wherein_o all_o both_o the_o best_a and_o the_o worst_a can_v say_v otherwise_o but_o that_o the_o lord_n be_v gracious_a of_o people_n who_o have_v not_o the_o true_a fear_n of_o god_n before_o their_o eye_n be_v fright_v and_o wondrous_o amaze_v do_v stand_v in_o horrible_a dread_n what_o shall_v become_v of_o they_o as_o they_o that_o be_v appoint_v to_o execution_n their_o fear_n be_v deadly_a so_o these_o consider_v how_o gréevous_a the_o judgement_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v against_o they_o for_o those_o heinous_a sin_n which_o they_o have_v commit_v there_o be_v nothing_o before_o their_o eye_n but_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n the_o which_o fear_n i_o must_v needs_o confess_v the_o godly_a in_o a_o sort_n and_o for_o a_o time_n may_v be_v touch_v with_o and_o yet_o by_o the_o power_n of_o their_o reléeve_v saviour_n they_o be_v raise_v up_o to_o comfort_n and_o the_o good_a spirit_n of_o god_n do_v seal_v in_o their_o heart_n the_o mercy_n of_o god_n the_o father_n through_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o their_o sin_n in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n but_o as_o for_o the_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a who_o be_v void_a of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n who_o spend_v their_o life_n in_o all_o manner_n of_o leaudnesse_n and_o naughtiness_n they_o be_v not_o only_o overtake_v and_o enwrap_v in_o this_o deadly_a dreadful_a and_o desperate_a fear_n but_o they_o be_v overcome_v thereof_o and_o as_o a_o ship_n in_o the_o sea_n that_o be_v sink_v and_o pass_v hope_n of_o recovery_n they_o be_v utter_o overwhelm_v fear_n three_o effect_n of_o the_o true_a fear_n for_o ever_o and_o yet_o there_o be_v a_o more_o certain_a knowledge_n of_o the_o true_a fear_n of_o god_n consist_v in_o these_o three_o effect_n first_o that_o 1._o 1._o whereas_o corruption_n and_o naughtiness_n lurk_v in_o our_o heart_n and_o will_v fain_o have_v a_o vent_n and_o issue_n the_o fear_n of_o god_n do_v keep_v that_o evil_a back_n and_o do_v so_o restrain_v bridle_n and_o keep_v in_o our_o corrupt_a and_o evil_a inclination_n that_o they_o shall_v not_o in_o any_o case_n break_v forth_o to_o the_o dishonour_n of_o god_n 2_o 2_o and_o our_o own_o shame_n and_o confusion_n the_o second_o effect_n note_n or_o mark_v of_o the_o true_a fear_n of_o god_n be_v by_o depart_v from_o evil_n for_o he_o that_o fear_v god_n true_o depart_v from_o evil_a and_o sin_n unfeigned_o deâ—esting_v and_o abhor_v the_o same_o both_o in_o himself_o and_o other_o the_o three_o effect_n 3_o 3_o and_o note_n whereby_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n be_v know_v to_o be_v in_o we_o be_v when_o we_o be_v purposely_o set_v to_o amend_v our_o former_a evil_a life_n and_o stedsast_o determine_v with_o the_o prophet_n david_n to_o keep_v the_o commandment_n of_o our_o love_a and_o gracious_a god_n which_o matter_n will_v desire_v a_o long_a discourse_n and_o hereafter_o god_n willing_a somewhat_o may_v be_v speak_v
