as_o have_v estate_n for_o life_n in_o their_o farm_n and_o do_v upon_o every_o change_n of_o a_o life_n renew_v their_o lease_n as_o general_o they_o do_v in_o the_o west_n part_n england_n and_o in_o divers_a county_n elsewhere_o all_o which_o tenant_n for_o life_n shall_v make_v fine_n to_o their_o lord_n as_o well_o for_o the_o profit_n of_o the_o tithe_n of_o the_o farm_n they_o hold_v tithe_n at_o a_o set_a rate_n of_o so_o many_o year_n purchase_v many_o difficulty_n and_o matter_n considerable_a will_v arise_v thereabouts_o for_o as_o some_o manor_n or_o farm_n in_o some_o county_n be_v as_o well_o worth_a 20_o year_n purchase_n as_o some_o other_o elsewhere_o be_v worth_a 15._o so_o in_o like_o manner_n of_o tithe_n whether_o the_o inhabitant_n be_v industrious_a to_o till_v the_o earth_n whether_o good_a or_o bad_a husband_n whether_o sea-sand_n lime_n marle_n or_o other_o compost_n may_v be_v easy_o procure_v to_o manure_v the_o land_n whether_o the_o inhabitant_n be_v able_a owner_n or_o poor_a farmer_n whether_o the_o soil_n be_v fertile_a or_o barren_a whether_o lie_v in_o the_o enclose_a county_n or_o in_o the_o champain_n etc._n etc._n these_o and_o the_o like_a will_v raise_v or_o abate_v the_o sale_n of_o tithe_n 7_o now_o concerning_o those_o that_o be_v to_o be_v the_o seller_n first_o by_o a_o act_n of_o parliament_n make_v anno_fw-la 13._o eliza._n if_o the_o master_n and_o the_o fellow_n of_o college_n do_v alien_a their_o land_n or_o tithe_n such_o grant_n be_v void_a nor_o can_v they_o consent_v to_o do_v it_o without_o ah_o and_o tenant_n and_o in_o effect_n as_o many_o or_o more_o impropriator_n than_o be_v at_o this_o present_a last_o who_o shall_v determine_v the_o yearly_a value_n of_o the_o tithe_n to_o be_v sell_v if_o the_o anti-tithemonger_n set_v the_o value_n the_o purchase_n no_o doubt_n will_v be_v under_o ten_o year_n 9_o some_o of_o the_o petitioner_n and_o namely_o those_o in_o the_o east-riding_n in_o yorkshire_n pray_v to_o have_v the_o payment_n of_o tithe_n abolish_v because_o they_o be_v at_o the_o first_o give_v for_o the_o advancement_n of_o popery_n and_o for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o superstitious_a and_o idle_a person_n for_o the_o like_a reason_n the_o petitioner_n may_v in_o case_n they_o have_v good_a success_n in_o this_o petition_n pray_v that_o all_o the_o cite_v of_o the_o monastery_n and_o of_o all_o other_o the_o religious_a house_n in_o england_n dissolve_v by_o k._n hen._n 8._o may_v together_o with_o all_o their_o manor_n grange_n farm_n and_o land_n which_o amount_v to_o the_o value_n of_o 161100._o l._n per_fw-la annum_fw-la of_o old_a rent_n and_o be_v worth_a at_o this_o day_n at_o improve_a rent_n two_o million_o of_o pound_n per_fw-la annum_fw-la be_v take_v from_o the_o present_a owner_n because_o they_o be_v at_o the_o first_o give_v for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o idle_a monk_n and_o chant_v cannon_n who_o depend_v upon_o the_o pope_n and_o be_v but_o the_o king_n half_a subject_n and_o bestow_v upon_o the_o petitioner_n because_o they_o be_v poor_a man_n and_o take_v great_a pain_n for_o their_o living_n the_o petitioner_n be_v alike_o grieve_v with_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n for_o their_o maintenance_n by_o tithe_n as_o they_o be_v with_o impropriator_n all_o must_v be_v take_v away_o from_o they_o it_o be_v a_o easy_a matter_n say_v they_o to_o order_v a_o more_o honourable_a maintenance_n for_o they_o but_o in_o what_o way_n they_o declare_v not_o we_o shall_v not_o say_v any_o thing_n concerning_o the_o minister_n divine_a right_n to_o tithe_n nor_o of_o the_o conveniency_n thereof_o for_o their_o maintenance_n we_o shall_v proceed_v in_o the_o same_o way_n as_o before_o and_o show_v to_o the_o petitioner_n their_o mistake_n in_o the_o clergy_n revenue_n and_o in_o their_o own_o expectation_n 1._o all_o that_o which_o before_o have_v be_v declare_v concerning_o the_o take_v away_o of_o tithe_n from_o the_o impropriator_n and_o give_v they_o to_o great_a landed-man_n rich_a man_n and_o to_o purchaser_n will_v be_v the_o same_o to_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n who_o shall_v have_v the_o rent_n and_o profit_n of_o their_o tithe_n take_v from_o they_o and_o put_v into_o the_o purse_n of_o rich_a landlord_n but_o with_o more_o disadvantage_n to_o the_o minister_n than_o to_o the_o impropriator_n because_o of_o the_o minister_n constant_a pain_n in_o preach_v his_o care_n of_o the_o soul_n under_o his_o charge_n with_o the_o other_o duty_n incident_a to_o his_o call_n for_o which_o our_o ancestor_n in_o former_a time_n hold_v their_o minister_n so_o worthy_a of_o tithe_n and_o be_v so_o conscientious_a in_o the_o dew_n payment_n of_o they_o that_o they_o usual_o give_v their_o minister_n a_o legacy_n for_o tithe_n forget_v to_o be_v pay_v and_o mortuary_n be_v pay_v to_o the_o parochial_a minister_n for_o the_o same_o cause_n 2._o it_o be_v in_o the_o time_n of_o popery_n one_o of_o the_o just_a grievance_n which_o the_o cannon_n have_v against_o the_o monastery_n etc._n etc._n that_o they_o receive_v the_o rent_n of_o the_o tithe_n and_o yet_o live_v 100_o mile_n off_o and_o for_o that_o many_o rectory_n be_v appropriate_v to_o religious_a house_n beyond_o the_o sea_n who_o give_v no_o relief_n nor_o assistance_n to_o the_o parish_n whence_o they_o receive_v the_o profit_n nor_o scarce_o take_v notice_n of_o they_o whereas_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v resident_a upon_o their_o cure_n and_o do_v spend_v the_o revenue_n thereof_o among_o their_o parishioner_n they_o set_v the_o able_a poor_a on_o work_n and_o relieve_v the_o impotent_a according_a to_o their_o ability_n 3._o if_o the_o minister_n do_v let_v his_o tithe_n to_o the_o parishioner_n as_o many_o of_o they_o do_v and_o more_o will_v upon_o even_a term_n than_o the_o petitioner_n the_o farmer_n have_v as_o much_o privilege_n from_o their_o minister_n as_o they_o can_v expect_v from_o their_o rich_a landlord_n after_o such_o time_n as_o all_o land_n be_v make_v tithe-free_a but_o if_o the_o minister_n do_v keep_v his_o tithe_n in_o his_o own_o hand_n then_o be_v they_o a_o magazine_n or_o store-house_n for_o all_o the_o poor_a people_n in_o the_o parish_n for_o there_o the_o poor_a man_n have_v straw_n for_o his_o bed_n for_o his_o cow_n and_o to_o heat_v his_o oven_n and_o grist-corn_n upon_o trust_n till_o he_o have_v earn_v money_n to_o pay_v for_o it_o thither_o also_o the_o petty_a husbandman_n the_o badger_n the_o waggonier_n and_o the_o carter_n that_o live_v by_o do_v work_n and_o carriage_n for_o other_o man_n resort_n for_o chaff_n for_o their_o horse_n which_o be_v a_o commodity_n hard_a to_o be_v get_v in_o those_o county_n where_o use_n be_v make_v of_o it_o and_o there_o they_o have_v for_o their_o money_n horse-corn_n ready_a at_o hand_n but_o where_o the_o farmer_n do_v inn_n their_o own_o tithe_n together_o with_o their_o crop_n they_o will_v not_o part_v with_o any_o of_o those_o commodity_n unless_o in_o a_o small_a proportion_n to_o the_o labourer_n that_o depend_v upon_o they_o 4._o whereas_o the_o petitioner_n pretend_v that_o the_o impropriator_n and_o the_o minister_n do_v hot_a pay_v assessment_n answerable_a to_o the_o profit_n they_o receive_v herein_o the_o petitioner_n be_v much_o mistake_v for_o it_o be_v a_o know_a truth_n that_o all_o the_o judge_n in_o the_o court_n at_o westminster_n about_o anno_fw-la 1635._o do_v resolve_v it_o that_o tithe_n be_v not_o to_o be_v assess_v at_o the_o ten_o part_n of_o the_o assessment_n lay_v upon_o the_o parish_n because_o that_o way_n be_v incertain_a and_o unequal_a therefore_o they_o resolve_v that_o 100_o l._n per_fw-la annum_fw-la in_o tithe_n aught_o to_o be_v equal_o tax_v with_o 100_o l._n land_n per_fw-la annum_fw-la and_o the_o high_a court_n of_o parliament_n anno_fw-la 1649._o do_v enact_v that_o all_o and_o to_o follow_v any_o calling_n he_o best_o like_v without_o any_o deduction_n of_o his_o rent_n save_v for_o tax_n whereas_o the_o minister_n be_v tie_v upon_o great_a penalty_n to_o residence_n and_o in_o case_n of_o sickness_n or_o of_o just_a cause_n of_o absence_n must_v at_o his_o charge_n see_v the_o cure_n serve_v whereof_o respect_n ought_v to_o be_v have_v in_o all_o assessment_n lay_v upon_o the_o clergy_n thus_o it_o be_v plain_a tithe_n be_v not_o undertaxed_a but_o rather_o over-taxed_a 6._o the_o petitioner_n do_v far_o pretend_v that_o they_o do_v pay_v to_o the_o
