rom._n 1._o from_o verse_n 18._o to_o the_o end_n and_o they_o be_v never_o admit_v into_o the_o church_n as_o proselyte_n or_o christian_n but_o upon_o renounce_v of_o the_o devil_n and_o his_o pompatical_a and_o idolatrous_a worship_n and_o their_o turn_n from_o idol_n to_o the_o live_a god_n as_o for_o christians_n who_o turn_v from_o the_o live_a god_n and_o chri●●_n their_o saviour_n to_o idol_n and_o the_o worship_n of_o the_o work_n of_o man_n hand_n and_o to_o receive_v the_o cup_n of_o fornication_n from_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o great_a whore_n their_o penalty_n shall_v be_v grievous_a and_o not_o only_o temporal_a but_o spiritual_a and_o eternal_a if_o they_o come_v not_o out_o of_o babylon_n and_o repent_v betimes_o as_o we_o may_v read_v in_o the_o book_n of_o the_o revelation_n especial_o chapter_n 14_o 15._o 16_o 17_o 18._o whether_o any_o sin_n but_o final_a unbelief_n be_v threaten_v in_o the_o gospel_n with_o death_n shall_v be_v examine_v god_n will_v when_o i_o come_v to_o consider_v the_o law_n of_o go●_n redeemer_n as_o they_o be_v a_o rule_n of_o judgement_n it_o be_v true_a that_o the_o law_n of_o god_n redeemer_n presuppose_v man_n as_o sinful_a require_v a_o present_a return_n by_o repentance_n and_o faith_n and_o the_o continuance_n in_o any_o one_o sin_n against_o the_o moral_a law_n or_o any_o other_o positive_a in_o force_n be_v explication_n of_o the_o word_n of_o this_o commandment_n §_o x_o it_o follow_v that_o we_o examine_v what_o the_o sin_n here_o forbid_v and_o the_o duty_n here_o command_v be_v it_o be_v express_o negative_a and_o implicit_o and_o by_o consequence_n affirmative_a the_o thing_n forbid_v express_o be_v the_o make_n of_o image_n for_o religious_a use_n and_o the_o bow_v down_o to_o they_o and_o worship_v of_o they_o the_o commandment_n do_v not_o take_v any_o notice_n whether_o in_o this_o bow_v and_o worship_v they_o terminate_v their_o worship_n either_o upon_o the_o image_n or_o the_o all_o kind_n of_o religious_a worship_n not_o institute_v by_o god_n and_o warrant_v either_o by_o some_o particular_a express_a ●u●e_n of_o scripture_n or_o ground_v upon_o some_o general_a precept_n be_v here_o forbid_a 2._o so_o be_v also_o all_o such_o manner_n of_o worship_n as_o be_v devise_v and_o invent_v by_o man_n or_o devil_n 3._o whatsoever_o tend_v to_o the_o corruption_n of_o the_o pure_a institute_v worship_n of_o god_n can_v be_v lawful_a 4._o to_o conceive_v that_o there_o be_v any_o holiness_n or_o sanctify_a power_n in_o any_o such_o worship_n or_o manner_n of_o worship_n or_o to_o think_v that_o the_o observation_n thereof_o be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n in_o itself_o or_o render_v the_o party_n perform_v acceptable_a to_o he_o be_v a_o sin_n here_o prohibit_v this_o sin_n here_o forbid_v may_v be_v call_v superstition_n in_o a_o large_a sense_n for_o to_o account_v that_o holy_a and_o divine_a as_o a_o object_n of_o worship_n which_o be_v not_o such_o nor_o can_v general_a qualificatition_n to_o which_o all_o these_o promise_n be_v annex_v be_v faith_n and_o repentance_n all_o those_o place_n both_o of_o the_o old_a and_o new_a testament_n which_o prohibit_v reprove_v dehort_v from_o impenitency_n unbelief_n blindness_n and_o hardness_n of_o heart_n have_v some_o threaten_n or_o commination_n annex_v either_o implicit_o or_o express_o and_o as_o duty_n spiritual_a and_o eternal_a reward_n luke_n 12._o 32._o and_o food_n and_o raiment_n and_o that_o be_v a_o promise_n of_o bodily_a and_o temporal_a blessing_n verse_n 31._o ibid._n so_o he_o have_v promise_v to_o deliver_v we_o from_o temporal_a evil_n and_o also_o from_o condemnation_n and_o eternal_a death_n yet_o 1._o he_o bind_v himself_o in_o these_o promise_n only_o to_o godly_a man_n as_o you_o hear_v before_o and_o in_o they_o unto_o godly_a man_n for_o temporal_a mercy_n in_o subordination_n to_o spirituall_n and_o so_o far_o as_o his_o divine_a wisdom_n shall_v see_v they_o tend_v
