most_o gracious_a sovereign_n lady_n the_o queen_n majesty_n that_o now_o be_v there_o be_v one_o act_n or_o statute_n make_v for_o the_o better_a surety_n and_o preservation_n of_o the_o say_v late_a queen_n of_o this_o realm_n or_o to_o levy_v war_n within_o this_o realm_n or_o within_o any_o the_o march_n or_o dominion_n to_o the_o same_o belong_v against_o the_o queen_n majesty_n that_o now_o be_v or_o any_o the_o heir_n of_o her_o body_n be_v king_n or_o queen_n of_o this_o realm_n or_o to_o depose_v the_o queen_n majesty_n that_o now_o be_v or_o any_o the_o heir_n of_o her_o body_n be_v king_n or_o queen_n of_o this_o realm_n from_o the_o imperial_a crown_n of_o the_o realm_n and_o dominion_n aforesaid_a and_o the_o same_o compass_n or_o imagination_n or_o any_o of_o they_o malicious_o advise_o &_o direct_o shall_v or_o do_v utter_v by_o open_a preach_n express_a word_n or_o say_n or_o if_o any_o person_n or_o person_n after_o the_o say_v first_o day_n of_o may_n next_o come_v shall_v malicious_o advise_o and_o direct_o say_v publish_v declare_v maintain_v or_o hold_v opinion_n that_o the_o queen_n majesty_n that_o now_o be_v during_o her_o life_n be_v not_o or_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v queen_n of_o this_o realm_n or_o after_o her_o death_n that_o the_o heir_n of_o her_o highness_n body_n be_v king_n or_o queen_n of_o this_o realm_n of_o right_a ought_v not_o to_o be_v king_n or_o queen_n of_o this_o realm_n or_o that_o any_o other_o person_n or_o person_n other_o than_o the_o queen_n highness_n that_o now_o be_v during_o her_o life_n aught_o to_o be_v king_n or_o queen_n of_o this_o realm_n or_o any_o other_o the_o realm_n or_o dominion_n aforesaid_a or_o after_o her_o death_n other_o than_o the_o heir_n of_o her_o body_n be_v king_n or_o queen_n of_o this_o realm_n as_o long_o as_o any_o of_o her_o say_a heir_n of_o her_o body_n beget_v shall_v be_v in_o life_n of_o right_a aught_o to_o have_v &_o enjoy_v the_o imperial_a crown_n of_o this_o realm_n or_o any_o the_o realm_n &_o dominion_n aforesaid_a that_o then_o every_o such_o offendor_n be_v thereof_o due_o convict_v or_o attaint_v by_o the_o law_n of_o this_o realm_n their_o abbettor_n procurer_n and_o counselor_n and_o all_o and_o every_o their_o comforter_n know_v the_o say_a offence_n or_o any_o of_o they_o to_o be_v do_v and_o be_v thereof_o due_o convict_v or_o attaint_v as_o be_v abovesaid_a for_o his_o or_o their_o such_o offence_n shall_v forfeit_v and_o lose_v to_o the_o queen_n highness_n her_o heir_n and_o successor_n all_o he_o &_o their_o good_n and_o cattle_n and_o the_o whole_a issue_n and_o profit_n of_o he_o and_o their_o land_n tenement_n and_o hereditamente_n for_o term_v of_o the_o life_n of_o every_o such_o offendor_n or_o offender_n kind_n of_o ware_n make_v of_o tan_a leather_n to_o great_a &_o unreasonable_a price_n to_o the_o undo_n of_o a_o great_a number_n of_o the_o queen_n majesty_n poor_a subject_n for_o reformation_n whereof_o be_v it_o ordain_v enact_v &_o establish_v by_o the_o queen_n majesty_n the_o lord_n spiritual_a and_o temporal_a and_o the_o commons_n of_o this_o present_a parliament_n assemble_v and_o for_o the_o shoemaker_n within_o the_o space_n of_o five_o day_n in_o summer_n that_o be_v to_o say_v from_o the_o first_o day_n of_o march_n to_o the_o last_o day_n of_o september_n and_o also_o in_o like_a manner_n within_o the_o space_n of_o ten_o day_n in_o winter_n that_o be_v to_o say_v from_o the_o first_o day_n of_o october_n unto_o the_o last_o day_n of_o february_n upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_n to_o the_o party_n grieve_v for_o every_o hide_v not_o curry_v and_o dress_v in_o manner_n &_o form_n aforesaid_a the_o sum_n of_o ten_o s._n provide_v further_o that_o this_o proviso_n shall_v not_o extend_v to_o bind_v any_o curriour_n to_o dress_v any_o leather_n which_o by_o do_v his_o best_a be_v not_o able_a to_o dress_v within_o every_o of_o the_o time_n aforesaid_a but_o shall_v extend_v to_o all_o such_o leather_n as_o he_o convenient_o may_v dress_v after_o the_o common_a rate_n of_o the_o dress_v and_o be_v it_o also_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n of_o this_o present_a parliament_n that_o no_o person_n or_o person_n use_v or_o occupy_v the_o feat_n and_o mystery_n of_o shoemaker_n shall_v from_o henceforth_o work_v or_o make_v any_o boot_n or_o shoe_n of_o neat_n leather_n that_o shall_v be_v mingle_a make_v or_o wrought_v with_o any_o other_o leather_n but_o only_o neat_n leather_n of_o itself_o unless_o it_o be_v in_o the_o hem_n or_o line_n of_o boot_n shoe_n or_o slipper_n and_o that_o they_o shall_v put_v in_o all_o and_o every_o boot_n shoe_n or_o slipper_n make_v of_o neat_n leather_n innersole_n make_v of_o womb_n which_o shall_v be_v well_o &_o true_o tan_v and_o curry_v and_o also_o all_o such_o other_o boot_n shoe_n and_o slipper_n as_o shall_v be_v make_v of_o dry_a neat_n leather_n or_o calf_n leather_n not_o to_o be_v mingle_a with_o any_o other_o kind_n of_o leather_n save_v in_o the_o sole_n but_o only_o of_o itself_o unless_o it_o be_v in_o hem_n or_o lyninge_n of_o the_o same_o that_o be_v to_o say_v neat_n leather_n of_o itself_o &_o calf_n leather_n of_o itself_o upon_o pain_n of_o forfeiture_n of_o all_o such_o boot_n shoe_n &_o slipper_n make_v so_o to_o the_o contrary_n provide_v always_o and_o be_v it_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o the_o one_o moiety_n of_o all_o such_o forfeiture_n afore_o name_v shall_v be_v to_o our_o sovereign_a lady_n the_o queen_n majesty_n and_o her_o highness_n heir_n and_o the_o other_o moiety_n to_o he_o or_o they_o that_o seize_v or_o first_o sue_v for_o the_o same_o penalty_n in_o any_o the_o queen_n majesty_n court_n of_o record_n by_o action_n of_o debt_n bill_n complain_v information_n or_o otherwise_o wherein_o no_o wager_n of_o law_n essoign_n protection_n or_o injunction_n shall_v be_v admit_v or_o allow_v for_o the_o defendant_n in_o that_o behalf_n a_o act_n touch_v tanner_n and_o the_o sell_n of_o tan_a leather_n the_o ix_o chapter_n for_o sundry_a good_a cause_n and_o consideration_n be_v it_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n of_o this_o present_a parliament_n that_o no_o person_n or_o person_n have_v land_n tenement_n or_o rent_n of_o estate_n of_o inheritance_n or_o for_o term_n of_o life_n to_o the_o clear_a yearly_a value_v of_o x.li_fw-la or_o above_o except_o such_o person_n and_o person_n as_o have_v any_o tanhouse_n and_o do_v occupy_v the_o mystery_n of_o tan_v at_o this_o present_a and_o except_v a_o apprentice_n and_o other_o bring_v by_o and_o teach_v or_o to_o be_v bring_v up_o and_o teach_v as_o a_o covenant_n servant_n or_o hire_v for_o that_o purpose_n by_o the_o space_n of_o four_o year_n in_o the_o mystery_n or_o craft_n or_o tan_v of_o leather_n shall_v use_v or_o have_v profit_n gain_n or_o commodity_n of_o or_o by_o the_o say_a mystery_n or_o craft_n of_o tan_v of_o leather_n after_o the_o feast_n of_o s._n michael_n archangel_n next_o come_n upon_o pain_n of_o forfeyt_n of_o all_o such_o leather_n so_o to_o be_v tan_v or_o the_o just_a value_n thereof_o also_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v that_o from_o and_o after_o the_o feast_n saint_n michael_n archangel_n which_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o year_n of_o our_o lord_n god_n m.d.lx_o no_o person_n or_o person_n shall_v use_v or_o exercise_v the_o feat_n craft_n or_o mystery_n of_o tan_v of_o leather_n or_o shall_v by_o any_o mean_n receive_v any_o profit_n gain_n or_o lucre_n by_o tan_v of_o leather_n but_o only_o in_o a_o city_n borough_n town_n corporal_a or_o market_n town_n where_o seller_n shall_v be_v usual_o appoint_v except_o he_o or_o they_o have_v be_v apprentice_n exercise_v &_o bring_v up_o as_o be_v aforesaid_a in_o the_o say_a craft_n and_o mystery_n by_o the_o space_n of_o four_o year_n at_o the_o least_o and_o also_o except_v the_o son_n or_o heir_n &_o wife_n of_o every_o such_o tanner_n to_o their_o own_o use_n and_o use_n upon_o pain_n of_o forfeiture_n of_o all_o the_o leather_n so_o tan_v contrary_a to_o this_o act_n or_o the_o value_n thereof_o and_o be_v it_o also_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o no_o manner_n of_o person_n or_o person_n whatsoever_o shall_v after_o the_o first_o day_n of_o may_n next_o come_v buy_v bargain_n bespeke_v or_o take_v promise_n of_o bargain_n of_o or_o for_o any_o raw_a hide_n or_o calf_n skin_n but_o of_o or_o for_o such_o and_o the_o same_o as_o shall_v be_v present_a in_o fair_a or_o market_n then_o to_o be_v sell_v ne_o they_o shall_v put_v or_o cause_n to_o be_v put_v to_o sale_n any_o kind_n of_o tan_a leather_n read_v &_o unwrought_a in_o any_o place_n within_o this_o realm_n other_o then_o in_o open_a market_n or_o fair_a in_o the_o place_n therefore_o common_o accustom_v and_o therefore_o prepare_v upon_o pain_n of_o forfeiture_n for_o every_o hide_n iii.s.iiii.d_o for_o every_o dozen_o of_o calf_n skin_n iii.s.iii.d_n and_o the_o hide_n or_o hide_n and_o leather_n in_o any_o otherwise_o sell_v or_o buy_v or_o the_o value_n thereof_o and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o no_o person_n whatsoever_o shall_v or_o may_v after_o the_o feast_n of_o s._n michael_n archangel_n next_o come_v buy_v bargain_n bespeke_v or_o take_v promise_n of_o bargain_n of_o or_o for_o any_o tan_a leather_n unwrought_a as_o be_v aforesaid_a but_o only_o such_o person_n or_o person_n as_o have_v be_v be_v or_o shall_v be_v bring_v up_o in_o cut_v of_o leather_n into_o make_v ware_n and_o do_v will_n and_o shall_v work_v and_o convert_v the_o same_o into_o leather_n cut_v into_o make_v ware_n wrought_v upon_o pain_n of_o forfeiture_n of_o any_o leather_n shall_v use_v or_o exercise_v any_o other_o kind_n of_o stuff_n but_o only_o ashe_n bark_n oak_n bark_n tap_n wort_n meal_n lime_n or_o culuer_n dong_o provide_v always_o and_o be_v it_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o the_o one_o moiety_n of_o all_o such_o forfeiture_n aforenamed_a shall_v be_v to_o our_o sovereign_a lady_n the_o queen_n majesty_n and_o her_o highness_n heir_n or_o successor_n and_o other_o moiety_n to_o he_o or_o they_o that_o seize_v or_o first_o we_o for_o the_o same_o penalty_n in_o any_o of_o the_o queen_n majesty_n court_n of_o ship_n convey_v or_o abbet_n procure_v or_o cause_n to_o be_v ship_v or_o convey_v in_o or_o to_o any_o ship_n boat_n or_o other_o vessel_n in_o or_o upon_o the_o sea_n or_o in_o or_o upon_o other_o haven_n river_n creke_n or_o place_n within_o this_o realm_n of_o england_n or_o wales_n or_o other_o the_o queen_n dominion_n any_o manner_n of_o leather_n tan_v or_o untan_v or_o any_o salt_n or_o this_o realm_n before_o such_o as_o shall_v have_v power_n and_o authority_n to_o hear_v and_o determine_v felony_n by_o the_o common_a law_n shall_v for_o every_o such_o offence_n suffer_v such_o pain_n of_o death_n &_o forfeiture_n of_o good_n and_o cattle_n as_o he_o or_o they_o shall_v have_v do_v if_o he_o or_o they_o have_v be_v lawful_o attaint_v for_o any_o offence_n be_v felony_n by_o the_o say_v first_o day_n of_o june_n next_o come_n shall_v be_v inquire_v of_o try_v determine_v and_o judge_v in_o such_o county_n of_o this_o realm_n or_o other_o the_o queen_n dominion_n as_o shall_v be_v next_o adjoin_v to_o the_o place_n where_o any_o such_o offence_n shall_v be_v first_o commit_v any_o jurisdiction_n authority_n or_o usage_n to_o the_o contrary_a in_o any_o wise_a notwithstanding_o provide_v always_o and_o be_v it_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o this_o act_n nor_o any_o thing_n therein_o contain_v shall_v in_o any_o wise_n extend_v or_o be_v offender_n like_o title_n interest_n benefit_n profit_n commodity_n action_n and_o advantage_n as_o they_o or_o any_o of_o they_o shall_v have_v have_v if_o any_o such_o offence_n conviction_n or_o act_n as_o the_o value_n certify_v by_o the_o presenter_n of_o that_o certificate_n to_o be_v swear_v of_o every_o pound_n in_o good_n and_o debt_n as_o be_v abovesaid_a and_o of_o every_o pound_n in_o land_n tenement_n annuity_n fee_n corrodye_n or_o other_o yearly_a profit_n as_o be_v abovesaid_a and_o the_o sum_n that_o be_v before_o rehearse_v set_v and_o tax_v to_o be_v levy_v and_o take_v least_o with_o the_o name_n of_o the_o high_a collector_n and_o in_o the_o same_o form_n shall_v be_v certife_v into_o the_o queen_n exchequer_n before_o the_o last_o day_n of_o may_n next_o come_n and_o the_o particular_a sum_n of_o every_o shire_n ride_a borough_n town_n and_o other_o place_n aforesaid_a with_o the_o particular_a name_n of_o such_o as_o be_v chargeable_a for_o and_o to_o the_o second_o payment_n of_o the_o say_a subsidy_n to_o be_v tax_v and_o set_v by_o the_o commissioner_n to_o the_o same_o to_o be_v limit_v or_o two_o of_o they_o at_o the_o least_o with_o the_o name_n party_n where_o such_o good_n cattle_n land_n tenement_n or_o other_o the_o premise_n then_o shall_v be_v or_o in_o such_o other_o place_n where_o such_o person_n or_o his_o factor_n deputy_n or_o attorney_n shall_v have_v his_o most_o resort_n unto_o within_o this_o realm_n or_o in_o wales_n in_o like_a manner_n as_o if_o the_o say_a person_n be_v or_o have_v be_v at_o the_o time_n of_o the_o say_v assess_v within_o this_o realm_n and_o that_o every_o person_n abide_v or_o dwell_v within_o this_o realm_n or_o without_o this_o realm_n shall_v be_v charge_v or_o chargeable_a to_o the_o same_o subsidy_n grant_v by_o this_o act_n accord_v and_o after_o the_o rate_n of_o such_o yearly_a substance_n or_o value_n of_o land_n and_o tenement_n good_n cattle_n and_o other_o the_o premise_n as_o every_o person_n so_o to_o be_v charge_v shall_v be_v set_v at_o in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o say_a assess_n or_o taxation_n upon_o he_o to_o be_v make_v &_o in_o none_o otherwise_o and_o further_o be_v it_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o for_o thassessing_n and_o order_v of_o the_o say_a subsidy_n to_o be_v due_o have_v the_o lord_n chancellor_n of_o england_n or_o the_o keeper_n of_o the_o great_a seal_n the_o the_o lord_n treasurer_n of_o england_n the_o lord_n steward_n of_o the_o queen_n majesty_n household_n the_o lord_n precedent_n of_o the_o queen_n honourable_a counsel_n and_o the_o lord_n privy_a seal_n for_o the_o time_n be_v or_o two_o they_o at_o the_o jest_n whereof_o the_o lord_n chancellor_n of_o england_n or_o keeper_n of_o the_o great_a seal_n for_o the_o time_n be_v to_o be_v one_o shall_v and_o may_v name_v and_o appoint_v of_o and_o for_o every_o shire_n and_o ride_v and_o other_o place_n aswell_o within_o this_o realm_n as_o in_o wales_n and_o other_o the_o queen_n dominion_n and_o also_o of_o and_o for_o every_o city_n &_o town_n be_v
to_o make_v certificate_n as_o be_v aforesaid_a the_o say_a commissioner_n there_o be_v shall_v take_v and_o receive_v the_o same_o certificate_n &_o every_o part_n thereof_o and_o the_o name_n value_n and_o substance_n of_o every_o person_n so_o certify_v and_o if_o the_o same_o commissioner_n see_v cause_n reasonable_a they_o shall_v examine_v the_o say_a presenter_n thereof_o and_o thereupon_o the_o say_a commissioner_n at_o the_o say_a day_n and_o place_n by_o their_o agreement_n amongst_o themselves_o shall_v from_o time_n to_o time_n open_o there_o prefix_v a_o day_n at_o a_o certain_a place_n or_o place_n within_o the_o limit_n of_o their_o commission_n by_o their_o discretion_n for_o their_o further_a proceed_v to_o the_o say_v assess_v of_o the_o same_o subsidy_n and_o thereupon_o at_o the_o say_a day_n of_o the_o say_a certificate_n as_o be_v aforesaid_a take_v the_o same_o commissioner_n shall_v make_v their_o precept_n or_o precept_v to_o the_o constable_n subconstable_n bailiff_n or_o other_o officer_n of_o such_o hundred_o wapentake_n town_n or_o other_o place_n aforesaid_a as_o the_o same_o commissioner_n shall_v be_v of_o comprise_v and_o contain_v in_o the_o same_o precept_n the_o name_n and_o surname_n of_o all_o person_n present_v before_o they_o in_o the_o say_a certificate_n of_o who_o if_o the_o say_a commissioner_n or_o as_o many_o of_o they_o as_o shall_v be_v thereunto_o appoint_v by_o the_o queen_n commission_n shall_v then_o have_v vehement_a suspect_n to_o be_v of_o more_o great_a value_n or_o substance_n in_o land_n good_n cattle_n or_o sum_n of_o money_n owe_v to_o they_o or_o other_o substance_n beforesaid_a then_o upon_o such_o person_n or_o person_n shall_v be_v certify_v the_o same_o commissioner_n shall_v make_v with_o and_o at_o the_o double_a sum_n of_o the_o rate_n that_o he_o shall_v or_o ought_v to_o have_v be_v set_v at_o for_o and_o after_o the_o best_a value_n of_o his_o land_n or_o substance_n upon_o he_o certify_v if_o he_o have_v appear_v by_o the_o discretion_n of_o the_o commissioner_n there_o be_v which_o commissioner_n shall_v travel_v with_o every_o of_o the_o other_o person_n so_o then_o and_o there_o appear_v who_o name_n shall_v be_v express_v in_o the_o say_a precept_n or_o precept_n and_o in_o who_o any_o vehement_a suspect_n be_v or_o shall_v be_v have_v in_o form_n abovesaid_a particular_o and_o distinct_o the_o person_n so_o complain_v and_o other_o his_o neighbour_n by_o their_o discretion_n of_o every_o his_o land_n and_o tenement_n above_o specify_v and_o of_o every_o his_o good_n cattle_n and_o debt_n above_o mention_v and_o after_o due_a examination_n and_o perfect_a knowledge_n thereof_o have_v and_o perceive_v by_o the_o say_a commissioner_n which_o shall_v or_o other_o lawful_a way_n or_o mean_n within_o a_o year_n after_o any_o such_o oath_n make_v that_o the_o same_o person_n so_o tax_v &_o swear_v be_v of_o any_o better_a or_o great_a value_n in_o
