surveyor_n be_v to_o appoint_v six_o day_n between_o that_o and_o midsummer_n to_o be_v set_v apart_o for_o the_o mend_v the_o highway_n and_o must_v give_v public_a notice_n thereof_o before_o the_o 18_o eliz._n cap._n 10._o where_o the_o usage_n be_v to_o carry_v material_n horseback_n material_n carry_v on_o horseback_n for_o such_o amendment_n on_o back_n of_o horse_n or_o by_o other_o carriage_n the_o inhabitant_n shall_v send_v they_o in_o with_o able_a person_n to_o work_v with_o they_o in_o like_a manner_n and_o under_o the_o like_a penalty_n as_o be_v appoint_v for_o cart_n the_o penalty_n to_o be_v levy_v by_o the_o surveyor_n by_o distress_n and_o sale_n and_o for_o their_o neglect_n within_o one_o year_n to_o do_v it_o then_o by_o the_o constable_n and_o churchwarden_n if_o the_o surveyor_n shall_v think_v any_o of_o the_o cart_n surveyor_n may_v command_v man_n instead_o of_o cart_n plough_n or_o cart_n needless_a any_o of_o the_o day_n they_o may_v where_o the_o highway_n can_v be_v amend_v before_o midsummer_n they_o shall_v be_v repair_v before_o the_o feast_n of_o s._n luke_n 22_o car._n 2._o 12._o it_o be_v say_v the_o owner_n of_o land_n if_o he_o be_v charge_v tenant_n to_o be_v charge_v not_o the_o occupier_n thereof_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v charge_v towards_o the_o repair_n of_o the_o common_a highway_n but_o the_o tenant_n who_o they_o shall_v think_v fit_a or_o they_o may_v gather_v loose_a stone_n in_o any_o man_n ground_n but_o may_v not_o dig_v for_o new_a stone_n without_o leave_n nor_o take_v great_a stone_n which_o be_v already_o dig_v but_o they_o may_v dig_v for_o material_n in_o likely_a or_o probable_a place_n lie_v near_o the_o place_n where_o the_o way_n be_v decay_v for_o sand_n stones_n gravel_n etc._n
