immediate_o enjoy_v so_o large_a a_o dominion_n i_o have_v already_o declare_v in_o the_o preface_n for_o although_o god_n have_v set_v abroad_o the_o inestimable_a treasure_n of_o his_o goodness_n in_o appoint_v they_o to_o be_v lord_n of_o the_o land_n yet_o he_o spare_v not_o to_o chastise_v and_o punish_v their_o slothfulness_n yea_o it_o be_v necessary_a to_o be_v fulfil_v which_o moses_n threaten_v unto_o 55._o they_o that_o except_o they_o destroy_v these_o nation_n appoint_v to_o destruction_n they_o shall_v become_v unto_o they_o prick_v and_o thorn_n with_o which_o their_o side_n and_o eye_n shall_v be_v prick_v but_o as_o by_o the_o delay_n of_o forty_o year_n in_o which_o they_o be_v lead_v about_o the_o wilderness_n the_o promise_n of_o god_n be_v not_o make_v frustrate_a and_o of_o none_o effect_v so_o the_o full_a possession_n of_o the_o landâ—_n although_o it_o be_v long_o hold_v in_o suspense_n yet_o it_o change_v nothing_o of_o the_o faith_n and_o truth_n of_o be_v sufficient_a for_o their_o commodious_a dwell_n and_o although_o it_o be_v tell_v they_o before_o that_o those_o remnant_n of_o the_o nation_n which_o they_o have_v reserve_v as_o a_o just_a reward_n of_o their_o disobedience_n shall_v become_v their_o deadly_a enemy_n yet_o suffer_v they_o no_o displeasure_n at_o their_o hand_n but_o when_o through_o their_o own_o unfaithfulness_n and_o continual_a rebel_n against_o god_n they_o provoke_v his_o anger_n against_o they_o for_o so_o often_o as_o they_o enjoy_v prosperity_n straight_a way_n they_o fall_v to_o lasciviousness_n &_o wantonness_n but_o always_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v by_o the_o wonderful_a goodness_n of_o god_n that_o when_o they_o be_v oppress_v by_o the_o violence_n of_o their_o enemy_n and_o as_o it_o be_v overwhelm_v in_o the_o grave_n yet_o they_o live_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o death_n and_o not_o that_o only_a but_o oftentimes_o there_o be_v raise_v up_o deliverer_n that_o restore_v their_o state_n when_o it_o be_v utter_o decay_v and_o lose_v by_o the_o great_a sea_n be_v mean_v the_o midland_n sea_n over_o against_o which_o stand_v the_o land_n of_o the_o hitthite_n as_o euphrates_n be_v over_o against_o libanus_n so_o we_o remember_v that_o under_o the_o name_n of_o libanus_n be_v comprehend_v not_o only_o the_o mountain_n but_o all_o the_o desert_n along_o as_o it_o be_v manifest_a by_o a_o other_o place_n of_o scripture_n 5_o there_o shall_v not_o a_o man_n be_v able_a to_o withstand_v thou_o all_o the_o day_n of_o thy_o life_n as_o i_o be_v with_o moses_n so_o will_v i_o be_v they_o to_o who_o this_o study_n seem_v loathsome_a be_v blind_v with_o intolerable_a arrogancy_n but_o why_o do_v he_o forbid_v the_o law_n to_o depart_v rather_o from_o his_o mouth_n than_o from_o his_o eye_n whereas_o some_o man_n do_v expound_v the_o mouth_n for_o the_o face_n by_o the_o figure_n synecdoche_n the_o part_n for_o the_o whole_a it_o be_v but_o frivolous_a i_o doubt_v not_o therefore_o but_o that_o this_o do_v peculiar_o pertain_v to_o his_o person_n which_o be_v bind_v to_o employ_v that_o study_n that_o be_v here_o command_v not_o only_o to_o his_o own_o use_n private_o but_o for_o the_o whole_a people_n who_o he_o have_v take_v in_o charge_n to_o govern_v therefore_o he_o be_v so_o command_v to_o geve_v heed_n to_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o law_n &_o in_o such_o sort_n that_o according_a to_o the_o office_n that_o be_v lay_v upon_o he_o he_o shall_v utter_v &_o bring_v forth_o that_o which_o he_o have_v learn_v to_o the_o common_a profit_n of_o the_o people_n and_o withal_o he_o be_v command_v by_o his_o diligence_n to_o geve_v other_o man_n example_n of_o obedience_n for_o many_o in_o preach_v will_v have_v the_o law_n in_o their_o mouth_n which_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n be_v the_o worst_a observer_n thereof_o in_o their_o life_n both_o be_v therefore_o command_v that_o in_o teach_v other_o he_o shall_v frame_v himself_o and_o his_o whole_a life_n unto_o that_o rule_n that_o which_o follow_v in_o the_o other_o part_n of_o the_o verse_n show_v that_o profane_a and_o unholy_a man_n shall_v at_o length_n have_v evil_a success_n what_o soever_o they_o attempt_v with_o contempt_n and_o neglect_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o although_o the_o beginning_n at_o the_o first_o seem_v pleasant_a and_o prosperous_a yet_o their_o end_n shall_v be_v accurse_v because_o it_o be_v not_o lawful_a to_o look_v for_o prosperous_a success_n but_o only_o from_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n whereof_o it_o be_v meet_v that_o all_o device_n rash_o and_o unadvised_o take_v in_o hand_n shall_v be_v utter_o destitute_a as_o also_o all_o arrogancy_n which_o be_v likewise_o join_v with_o contempt_n of_o god_n himself_o wherefore_o the_o faithful_a that_o they_o may_v have_v good_a success_n in_o all_o thing_n aught_o to_o procure_v unto_o themselves_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n as_o well_o by_o earnest_a desire_n of_o learning_n also_o be_v admonish_v that_o man_n do_v nothing_o right_o in_o good_a order_n or_o with_o true_a knowledge_n but_o so_o far_o forth_o as_o they_o submit_v themselves_o to_o be_v govern_v by_o the_o often_o time_n by_o interrogation_n simple_o affirm_v &_o that_o phrase_n be_v very_o common_a among_o they_o yet_o this_o interragation_n have_v a_o special_a force_n to_o confirm_v the_o former_a doctrine_n while_o god_n bring_v forth_o his_o authority_n and_o discharge_v the_o mind_n of_o his_o servant_n both_o from_o doubt_n and_o care_n be_v it_o not_o i_o say_v he_o which_o have_v command_v thou_o even_o i_o also_o will_v be_v present_a with_o thou_o this_o be_v therefore_o speak_v with_o a_o force_n or_o emphasis_n because_o it_o be_v not_o lawful_a to_o resist_v his_o his_o journey_n that_o way_n which_o he_o know_v not_o see_v he_o think_v it_o profitable_a to_o be_v first_o instruct_v of_o many_o thing_n before_o he_o enter_v into_o the_o land_n of_o his_o enemy_n neither_o be_v it_o a_o strange_a thing_n that_o the_o order_n of_o time_n be_v neglect_v and_o that_o which_o follow_v be_v omit_v be_v afterwards_o rehearse_v wherefore_o the_o second_o chapter_n shall_v be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o parenthesis_n interlace_v which_o do_v more_o full_o declare_v at_o what_o time_n joshua_n command_v the_o people_n to_o remove_v with_o bag_n and_o baggage_n
