garrison_n and_o as_o the_o say_a undertaker_n shall_v from_o time_n to_o time_n receive_v notice_n thereof_o and_o direction_n for_o the_o same_o from_o each_o respective_a commander_n in_o chief_a for_o such_o garrison_n as_o he_o have_v undertake_v for_o and_o for_o such_o provision_n he_o shall_v be_v pay_v by_o the_o public_a according_a to_o the_o rate_n before_o mention_v provide_v always_o and_o his_o excellency_n be_v desire_v if_o he_o see_v cause_n to_o draw_v off_o ten_o of_o the_o soldier_n from_o each_o garrison_n for_o the_o ease_n of_o the_o country_n supply_v the_o same_o with_o ten_o of_o his_o majesty_n soldier_n at_o each_o garrison_n and_o such_o ten_o to_o have_v the_o horse_n arm_n and_o furniture_n of_o those_o that_o shall_v be_v withdraw_v v._o a_o act_n for_o cohabitation_n and_o encouragement_n of_o trade_n and_o manufacture_n this_o present_a general_n assembly_n have_v take_v into_o their_o serious_a consideration_n the_o great_a necessity_n usefulness_n and_o advantage_n of_o cohabitation_n in_o this_o his_o majesty_n colony_n of_o virginia_n and_o observe_v and_o foresee_v the_o great_a extremity_n his_o majesty_n subject_n here_o must_v necessary_o fall_v under_o by_o the_o present_a and_o continue_a lowness_n of_o the_o price_n of_o tobacco_n the_o only_a commodity_n and_o manufacture_n of_o this_o country_n if_o the_o same_o be_v not_o by_o all_o prudential_a way_n and_o mean_v prevent_v and_o consider_v that_o the_o build_n of_o storehouse_n for_o the_o reception_n of_o all_o merchandize_n import_v and_o receive_v secure_v and_o lay_v ready_a all_o tobacco_n for_o exportation_n and_o for_o sales_n and_o disposal_n of_o all_o good_n merchandize_n and_o tobacco_n import_v or_o export_v into_o or_o from_o this_o his_o majesty_n colony_n of_o virginia_n will_v be_v one_o great_a mean_n of_o advancement_n thereof_o do_v pray_v your_o majesty_n that_o it_o may_v be_v enact_v and_o be_v it_o enact_v by_o the_o king_n most_o excellent_a majesty_n by_o and_o with_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o general_n assembly_n and_o it_o be_v hereby_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a county_n fifty_o acre_n of_o the_o creek_n which_o divide_v mr._n thomas_n chewning_n and_o the_o court-house_n in_o northumberland_n county_n at_o chickacony_n and_o be_v it_o far_o enact_v by_o the_o
authority_n aforesaid_a and_o it_o be_v hereby_o enact_v that_o the_o price_n to_o be_v pay_v by_o each_o county_n for_o each_o respective_a fifty_o acre_n of_o land_n nominate_v as_o aforesaid_a shall_v be_v ten_o thousand_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n and_o cask_n which_o sum_v the_o owner_n or_o owner_n thereof_o shall_v be_v and_o be_v hereby_o constrain_v to_o accept_v land_n what_o price_n the_o county_n shall_v pay_v for_o the_o say_v fifty_o acre_n of_o land_n take_v and_o receive_v as_o a_o full_a and_o valluable_a price_n and_o consideration_n for_o the_o say_a land_n for_o ever_o and_o for_o which_o he_o shall_v pass_v and_o acknowledge_v a_o authentic_a deed_n in_o law_n to_o such_o person_n or_o person_n his_o or_o their_o heir_n and_o assign_n for_o ever_o as_o shall_v be_v nominate_v by_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o county-court_n as_o feoffee_n in_o trust_n and_o to_o and_o for_o the_o use_n of_o the_o county_n and_o for_o encouragement_n of_o all_o and_o every_o such_o person_n and_o person_n as_o will_v build_v a_o dwell_a house_n and_o a_o warehouse_n thereupon_o every_o such_o person_n and_o person_n shall_v have_v assign_v he_o or_o they_o by_o the_o justice_n enjoin_v and_o in_o case_n any_o person_n shall_v desire_v more_o than_o one_o half_a acre_n that_o then_o there_o be_v assign_v he_o one_o half_a acre_n more_o in_o manner_n aforesaid_a he_o build_v thereupon_o one_o other_o dwellinghouse_n and_o one_o warehouse_n and_o pay_v the_o county_n one_o hundred_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n and_o cask_n for_o the_o same_o and_o it_o be_v hereby_o further_o enact_v that_o every_o such_o person_n or_o person_n as_o shall_v desire_v and_o purchase_v such_o land_n as_o aforesaid_a and_o shall_v not_o begin_v to_o build_v thereupon_o within_o three_o month_n after_o such_o purchase_n and_o so_o continue_v to_o the_o finish_v such_o build_n as_o by_o this_o act_n be_v enjoin_v shall_v forfeit_v all_o such_o tobacco_n and_o land_n the_o same_o to_o revert_v to_o the_o county_n so_o as_o to_o be_v sell_v and_o assign_v to_o any_o other_o person_n or_o person_n desire_v the_o same_o on_o the_o price_n &_o condition_n aforesaid_a and_o it_o be_v hereby_o further_o enact_v that_o the_o surveyor_n or_o surveyor_n appoint_v to_o lay_v out_o the_o say_v fifty_o acre_n in_o the_o several_a appoint_a place_n allowance_n surveyor_n of_o the_o say_a land_n shall_v be_v pay_v by_o the_o public_a their_o allowance_n be_v pay_v and_o allow_v by_o the_o public_a according_a to_o act_n of_o assembly_n and_o that_o every_o surveyor_n for_o lay_v out_o every_o dividual_a half_a acre_n and_o give_v a_o plot_n thereof_o shall_v be_v pay_v by_o he_o that_o shall_v employ_v he_o twenty_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n and_o cask_n and_o no_o more_o and_o such_o surveyor_n as_o upon_o timely_a notice_n give_v he_o shall_v refuse_v to_o survey_v and_o lay_v out_o the_o same_o or_o shall_v demand_v more_o than_o what_o be_v herein_o allow_v upon_o due_a proof_n thereof_o make_v shall_v pay_v to_o the_o party_n aggrieve_v five_o hundred_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n to_o be_v recover_v by_o action_n of_o debt_n in_o any_o court_n of_o judicature_n and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a and_o it_o be_v hereby_o enact_v that_o all_o tobacco_n whatsoever_o which_o shall_v be_v make_v within_o this_o his_o majesty_n country_n from_o and_o after_o the_o first_o day_n of_o january_n next_o ensue_v aforesaid_a all_o tobacco_n and_o other_o good_n and_o merchandize_n what_o ever_o of_o the_o growth_n of_o this_o colony_n to_o be_v export_v shall_v be_v bring_v to_o the_o place_n aforesaid_a and_o all_o other_o good_n and_o merchandize_n whatsoever_o of_o the_o growth_n of_o this_o colony_n to_o be_v export_v shall_v be_v bring_v to_o the_o say_v appoint_v place_n where_o all_o such_o tobaccoe_n and_o all_o good_n and_o merchandize_n whatsoever_o of_o the_o growth_n or_o production_n of_o this_o colony_n be_v to_o be_v buy_v sell_v ship_v off_o and_o freight_v and_o whosoever_o shall_v presume_v to_o buy_v sell_v freight_n or_o ship_n off_o any_o tobacco_n or_o other_o good_n and_o merchandize_n aforesaid_a next_o after_o the_o time_n aforesaid_a before_o the_o same_o be_v bring_v to_o such_o appoint_a place_n upon_o due_a proof_n thereof_o make_v shall_v forfeit_v and_o lose_v all_o such_o tobacco_n or_o other_o merchandize_n whatsoever_o one_o half_a to_o his_o majesty_n and_o the_o other_o half_a to_o the_o informer_n any_o law_n usage_n or_o custom_n to_o the_o contrary_a notwithstanding_o and_o all_o good_n ware_n english_a servant_n negro_n and_o other_o slave_n and_o merchandize_n whatsoever_o that_o shall_v be_v import_v into_o this_o colony_n there_o good_n import_v shall_v be_v land_a and_o sell_v there_o from_o or_o after_o the_o 29_o day_n of_o september_n which_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o year_n 1681._o shall_v be_v land_v and_o lay_v on_o shore_n buy_v and_o sell_v at_o such_o appoint_a place_n as_o aforesaid_a and_o at_o no_o other_o place_n whatsoever_o under_o like_a penalty_n and_o forfeiture_n thereof_o provide_v always_o that_o it_o shall_v and_o may_v be_v lawful_a for_o any_o person_n whatsoever_o to_o have_v liberty_n to_o buy_v and_o sell_v between_o themselves_o any_o horse_n mare_n cattle_n except_v horse_n cattle_n english_a grain_n etc._n etc._n and_o to_o bring_v the_o say_a tobacco_n to_o the_o say_v appoint_v place_n and_o for_o the_o owner_n of_o warehouse_n for_o storage_n thereof_o it_o be_v hereby_o enact_v that_o the_o owner_n of_o the_o tobacco_n bring_v the_o same_o to_o the_o waterside_n where_o it_o be_v to_o be_v take_v on_o board_n warc-house_n price_n appoint_v for_o sloop-hire_n from_o the_o say_a warc-house_n shall_v pay_v for_o sloop-hire_n no_o more_o than_o twenty_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n and_o cask_n for_o each_o hogshead_n if_o the_o say_a tobacco_n be_v within_o thirty_o mile_n of_o the_o say_v warehouse_n to_o which_o it_o be_v to_o be_v bring_v and_o at_o what_o distance_n soever_o further_o forty_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n and_o cask_n for_o each_o hogshead_n and_o no_o more_o upon_o penalty_n of_o forfeit_v one_o hundred_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n and_o cask_n for_o each_o hogshead_n by_o he_o who_o shall_v demand_v receive_v or_o take_v more_o to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o party_n grieve_v and_o for_o storage_n of_o any_o hogshead_n of_o tobacco_n in_o any_o warehouse_n the_o owner_n thereof_o shall_v pay_v to_o the_o ware-house-keeper_n ten_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n for_o the_o first_o day_n or_o for_o a_o month_n and_o for_o every_o month_n after_o six_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n and_o no_o more_o and_o whereas_o there_o be_v several_a person_n who_o be_v so_o remote_a from_o landing_n proper_a for_o take_v their_o tobacco_n on_o board_n the_o soop_n or_o boat_n for_o transport_v the_o same_o to_o the_o appoint_a place_n it_o be_v therefore_o hereby_o further_o enact_v that_o in_o case_n any_o person_n or_o person_n owner_n of_o such_o land_n which_o shall_v be_v convenient_a to_o build_v a_o house_n upon_o convenient_a for_o secure_v such_o tobacco_n until_o the_o same_o can_v be_v ship_v shall_v refuse_v to_o build_v such_o house_n for_o secure_v such_o tobacco_n as_o aforesaid_a that_o in_o sucb_a case_n liberty_n be_v grant_v and_o liberty_n be_v hereby_o grant_v to_o any_o person_n or_o person_n whatsoever_o for_o so_o much_o land_n as_o he_o or_o they_o may_v convenient_o build_v such_o fit_a house_n upon_o for_o secure_v such_o tobacco_n as_o shall_v be_v bring_v thither_o in_o order_n to_o transport_v the_o same_o to_o the_o warehouse_n appoint_v by_o this_o act_n he_o or_o they_o who_o shall_v desire_v the_o same_o and_o build_v thereon_o according_a as_o by_o this_o law_n be_v intend_v pay_v to_o the_o owner_n thereof_o such_o price_n and_o price_n as_o be_v set_v down_o and_o order_v to_o be_v pay_v in_o the_o
act_n of_o assembly_n provide_v for_o land_n for_o church_n and_o mill_n and_o that_o there_o be_v allow_v free_a liberty_n of_o ingress_n and_o egress_n to_o and_o from_o such_o house_n or_o house_n not_o commit_v any_o trespass_n act._n tobacco_n during_o their_o transport_v unto_o and_o whilst_o they_o be_v continue_v in_o the_o house_n aforesaid_a be_v exempt_a from_o any_o execution_n or_o attachment_n for_o debt_n contract_v before_o the_o make_v this_o act._n &_o for_o encouragement_n of_o all_o that_o shall_v transport_v their_o tobacco_n to_o the_o appoint_a place_n mention_v in_o this_o act_n it_o be_v also_o hereby_o enact_v that_o no_o execution_n attachment_n or_o other_o process_n in_o law_n shall_v be_v execute_v or_o lay_v upon_o any_o the_o say_v tobaccoeâ—_n in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o transportation_n thereof_o to_o the_o say_v appoint_v place_n or_o in_o the_o warehouse_n for_o any_o debt_n contract_v before_o the_o pass_a this_o act_n the_o party_n that_o remove_v or_o transport_v such_o tobacco_n have_v first_o make_v oath_n before_o a_o magistrate_n that_o he_o be_v real_o and_o bona_fw-la fide_fw-la transport_v the_o same_o to_o one_o of_o the_o say_a warehouse_n and_o for_o encouragement_n of_o carpenter_n sawyer_n brickmaker_n briclayer_n labourer_n and_o all_o other_o tradesman_n whatsoever_o that_o will_v cohabit_v dwell_v and_o exercise_v their_o trade_n within_o the_o say_v appoint_v place_n or_o any_o of_o they_o it_o be_v hereby_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o all_o such_o person_n so_o inhabit_v shall_v within_o the_o limit_n and_o bound_n of_o the_o several_a respective_a place_n be_v whole_o free_a from_o any_o arrest_n of_o their_o person_n or_o seizure_n of_o their_o estate_n for_o such_o debt_n as_o be_v former_o contract_v for_o and_o during_o the_o term_n of_o five_o year_n to_o come_v next_o after_o the_o publication_n of_o this_o law_n year_n tradesman_n who_o will_v dwell_v in_o the_o place_n aforesaid_a shall_v be_v free_v from_o the_o payment_n of_o former_a debt_n of_o five_o year_n not_o bar_v the_o creditor_n or_o creditor_n to_o sue_v for_o and_o recover_v their_o debt_n when_o the_o time_n of_o five_o year_n be_v expire_v any_o law_n custom_n or_o usage_n to_o the_o contrary_a notwithstanding_o and_o it_o be_v hereby_o further_o enact_v that_o all_o such_o tradesman_n and_o labourer_n cohabit_v in_o the_o place_n aforesaid_a &_o not_o plant_v tend_v or_o make_v tobacco_n shall_v be_v free_a and_o acquit_v from_o pay_v any_o public_a levy_n during_o the_o term_n of_o five_o year_n from_o the_o publication_n of_o this_o act._n provide_v always_o and_o it_o be_v hereby_o mean_v and_o intend_v to_o be_v mean_v year_n such_o person_n not_o plant_v tobacco_n shall_v alsobe_a free_v from_o the_o pay-man_n of_o public_a levye_n for_o 5._o year_n that_o all_o such_o debt_n as_o shall_v accrue_v by_o any_o bargain_n or_o contract_v make_v or_o to_o be_v make_v within_o the_o limit_n of_o the_o say_v appoint_v place_n or_o any_o one_o of_o they_o immediate_a process_n may_v be_v grant_v thereon_o any_o thing_n in_o this_o law_n to_o the_o contrary_a notwithstanding_o and_o for_o the_o more_o sure_o reserve_v all_o such_o tobacco_n as_o shall_v be_v bring_v to_o the_o aforesaid_a store_n or_o warehouse_n levy_n no_o collector_n shall_v make_v seizure_n of_o any_o tobacco_n while_o in_o such_o place_n for_o public_a county_n or_o parish_n levy_n to_o the_o use_n and_o advantage_n of_o the_o owner_n thereof_o it_o be_v hereby_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o no_o collector_n or_o collector_n of_o levy_n or_o parish-tiths_a shall_v make_v distress_n or_o seizure_n of_o any_o tobacco_n in_o such_o place_n for_o public_a county_n or_o parish-levy_n or_o for_o sheriff_n or_o clerks-fee_n but_o that_o all_o sheriff_n and_o public_a collector_n shall_v be_v and_o hereby_o be_v enjoin_v to_o collect_v and_o receive_v the_o tobacco_n due_a in_o their_o collection_n as_o heretofore_o be_v usual_a and_o the_o public_a or_o other_o creditor_n to_o receive_v the_o same_o according_o and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a and_o it_o be_v hereby_o enact_v that_o for_o the_o better_a adnaucement_n of_o the_o price_n of_o tobacco_n and_o lessen_v of_o freight_n that_o no_o merchant_n facture_n or_o adventurer_n whatsoever_o arrive_v with_o any_o good_n ware_n servant_n slave_n or_o other_o merchandise_n whatsoever_o into_o this_o colony_n shall_v presume_v to_o buy_v ship_n off_o or_o freight_n any_o tobacco_n whatsoever_o from_o any_o of_o the_o before_o appoint_a place_n at_o any_o time_n or_o time_n before_o the_o twenty_o day_n of_o march_n 1681._o by_o which_o time_n it_o may_v be_v presume_v and_o believe_v all_o tobacco_n whatsoever_o which_o shall_v be_v make_v in_o this_o colony_n may_v be_v bring_v to_o the_o say_v appoint_v place_n under_o the_o penalty_n of_o forfeit_v and_o lose_v all_o such_o good_n ware_n etc._n etc._n and_o all_o tobacco_n so_o purchase_v one_o half_a to_o his_o majesty_n and_o the_o other_o half_a to_o he_o or_o they_o that_o shall_v or_o will_v inform_v or_o sue_v for_o the_o same_o any_o law_n usage_n or_o custom_n to_o the_o contrary_a in_o any_o wise_n notwithstanding_o time_n person_n dwell_v within_o the_o say_v appoint_v place_n have_v liberty_n to_o sell_v their_o tobacco_n at_o any_o time_n provide_v always_o and_o it_o be_v hereby_o mean_v and_o intend_v that_o this_o restriction_n shall_v continue_v two_o year_n from_o the_o say_v twenty_o of_o march_n and_o no_o long_o provide_v always_o that_o notwithstanding_o any_o thing_n in_o this_o act_n contain_v any_o inhabitant_n dwell_v within_o the_o say_v appoint_v place_n have_v liberty_n to_o fell_v such_o good_n and_o merchandize_n as_o they_o have_v of_o their_o own_o at_o any_o time_n provide_v also_o and_o it_o be_v hereby_o enact_v that_o if_o two_o or_o more_o county_n lie_v convenient_a to_o each_o other_o shall_v within_o the_o two_o month_n before_o recite_v agree_v together_o on_o one_o common_a place_n and_o town_n for_o each_o their_o county_n and_o lay_v out_o the_o ground_n for_o the_o same_o in_o common_a betwixt_o and_o among_o they_o common_a where_o two_o or_o more_o county_n lie_v convenient_o one_o such_o warehouse_n may_v serve_v in_o common_a and_o there_o build_v house_n as_o by_o this_o act_n be_v enjoin_v that_o then_o such_o one_o town_n so_o agree_v on_o appoint_v lay_v they_o be_v by_o this_o act_n impower_v to_o proceed_v therein_o as_o they_o in_o their_o discretion_n shall_v find_v the_o necessity_n of_o affair_n to_o require_v and_o the_o governors_n honour_n be_v hereby_o request_v by_o his_o honour_n commission_n and_o instruction_n to_o confirm_v the_o full_a power_n and_o authority_n unto_o they_o and_o to_o the_o intent_n that_o notice_n may_v be_v have_v only_o for_o the_o supply_n of_o people_n necessity_n and_o enable_v they_o to_o provide_v for_o their_o subsistance_n in_o the_o vacant_a year_n from_o plant_v have_v enact_v and_o by_o the_o governor_n security_n debt_n due_a the_o cessation-year_n to_o be_v pay_v one_o half_o down_o time_n to_o be_v allow_v for_o the_o other_o half_a give_v reasonable_a security_n council_n and_o burgess_n of_o this_o grand_a assembly_n and_o the_o authority_n thereof_o be_v it_o enact_v that_o for_o all_o debt_n already_o contract_v to_o be_v pay_v this_o present_a year_n in_o tobacco_n except_o public_a due_n any_o debtor_n pay_v one_o half_a of_o the_o say_a debt_n in_o kind_n shall_v have_v liberty_n for_o the_o payment_n of_o the_o other_o half_a until_o the_o 10_o of_o november_n 1668_o give_v reasonable_a security_n if_o request_v to_o pay_v the_o remain_v half_o at_o the_o time_n aforesaid_a and_o in_o case_n the_o creditor_n will_v not_o stay_v out_o that_o time_n but_o prosecute_v the_o debtor_n for_o payment_n to_o be_v make_v soon_o it_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o liberty_n and_o choice_n of_o the_o debtor_n to_o make_v tender_a of_o his_o estate_n valuation_n of_o commodity_n for_o payment_n of_o public_a due_n be_v it_o also_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o all_o public_a due_n this_o year_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o cessation_n and_o cause_n that_o expectation_n of_o advance_v the_o value_n of_o tobacco_n there_o be_v a_o abatement_n of_o the_o sum_v former_o allow_v and_o that_o all_o public_a and_o county_n debt_n minister_n and_o parish_n due_n officer_n fee_n fine_n quit_v rent_n and_o all_o other_o rate_n and_o debt_n general_o that_o shall_v be_v contract_v and_o become_v due_a in_o the_o vacant_a year_n from_o plant_v may_v be_v pay_v in_o the_o country_n commodity_n at_o the_o rate_n here_o follow_v plant_v valuation_n of_o commodity_n for_o payment_n of_o public_a due_n during_o six_o penny_n oat_n per_fw-la bushell_n thirty_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n or_o three_o shilling_n provide_v that_o for_o prevention_n of_o inconvenience_n that_o the_o receiver_n be_v subject_a to_o if_o he_o have_v not_o cask_n to_o carry_v his_o grain_n it_o be_v further_o enact_v that_o the_o debtor_n shall_v provide_v and_o pay_v the_o grain_n in_o cask_n and_o the_o creditor_n to_o allow_v he_o ten_o per_fw-la cent._n as_o in_o case_n of_o tobacco_n no_o rate_n be_v set_v upon_o flax_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o uncertainty_n of_o the_o quantity_n nor_o beef_n not_o pork_n because_o perishable_a but_o both_o these_o leave_v to_o valuation_n according_a to_o condition_n and_o goodness_n iv_o a_o act_n for_o rate_v of_o ordinary_a keeper_n vide_fw-la act_n 3_o anno_fw-la 1671_o and_o act_n 10._o anno_fw-la 1676_o 7._o v._o a_o act_n ascertain_v surveyor_n fe_n whereas_o the_o act_n concern_v the_o fee_n of_o surveyor_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o low_a rate_n set_v therein_o which_o seem_v to_o have_v be_v first_o make_v above_o twenty_o year_n since_o when_o tobacco_n bear_v a_o great_a value_n than_o can_v now_o be_v expect_v deter_v any_o man_n of_o part_n ability_n or_o integrity_n from_o exercise_v the_o say_a function_n in_o the_o faithful_a and_o well_o discharge_v whereof_o the_o peace_n and_o possession_n of_o the_o inhabitant_n of_o this_o country_n be_v so_o much_o concern_v and_o yet_o for_o want_v of_o a_o penalty_n therein_o express_v leave_v a_o liberty_n to_o every_o one_o to_o extort_v from_o the_o people_n what_o sum_v they_o please_v be_v it_o therefore_o enact_v by_o this_o present_a grand_a assembly_n and_o the_o authority_n thereof_o that_o for_o encouragement_n of_o able_a man_n in_o that_o science_n to_o practise_v the_o same_o that_o the_o fee_n limit_v in_o that_o act_n be_v double_v viz._n double_v fee_n former_o allow_v to_o surveyor_n double_v forty_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n for_o measure_v every_o hundred_o acre_n of_o land_n if_o the_o whole_a dividend_n exceed_v not_o or_o amount_v to_o one_o thousand_o acre_n but_o if_o under_o that_o quantity_n than_o four_o hundred_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n and_o for_o the_o same_o shall_v deliver_v a_o exact_a plat_v of_o the_o land_n survey_v and_o if_o any_o surveyor_n upon_o reasonable_a demand_n fine_v surveyor_n refuse_v to_o measure_v land_n at_o the_o rate_n herein_o appoint_v to_o be_v fine_v not_o be_v by_o sickness_n or_o any_o other_o lawful_a impediment_n hinder_v shall_v refuse_v to_o measure_v the_o land_n of_o any_o person_n whatsoever_o for_o the_o consideration_n and_o satisfaction_n aforesaid_a every_o such_o surveyor_n shall_v be_v fine_v and_o pay_v for_o such_o his_o refusal_n four_o thousand_o
provision_n good_n or_o merchandise_n whatsoever_o without_o sufficient_a warrant_n and_o that_o such_o warrant_v be_v show_v to_o such_o person_n from_o who_o they_o be_v about_o to_o impress_v such_o sloop_n boat_n etc._n etc._n and_o that_o whosoever_o shall_v by_o virtue_n of_o a_o legal_a warrant_n impress_v any_o sloop-boat_n shallop_z or_o vessel_n shall_v thereby_o have_v power_n to_o cause_v two_o man_n of_o the_o able_a of_o the_o neighbourhood_n to_o view_v and_o appraise_v such_o vessel_n in_o the_o best_a of_o their_o judgement_n neighbourhood_n thing_n impress_v shall_v be_v appraise_v by_o two_o man_n of_o the_o neighbourhood_n to_o the_o full_a value_n and_o also_o to_o ascertain_v the_o value_n of_o the_o hire_n thereof_o either_o by_o the_o day_n or_o by_o the_o month_n and_o that_o instrument_n or_o write_n be_v draw_v intimate_v the_o value_n and_o also_o the_o price_n of_o the_o hire_n by_o the_o day_n or_o by_o the_o month_n of_o which_o a_o duplicate_v to_o be_v draw_v the_o one_o of_o which_o to_o remain_v with_o the_o appraiser_n and_o the_o other_o part_n with_o the_o owner_n or_o owner_n of_o such_o sloop-boat_n etc._n etc._n and_o such_o owner_n to_o bring_v such_o instrument_n or_o write_v to_o the_o next_o county-court_n where_o if_o such_o sloop_n boat_n etc._n etc._n be_v impress_v for_o the_o use_n of_o that_o county_n then_o to_o be_v pay_v out_o of_o the_o county_n levy_n according_a to_o the_o tenor_n of_o the_o write_n or_o instrument_n but_o if_o the_o same_o be_v impress_v for_o the_o use_n of_o the_o public_a than_o the_o county-court_n be_v to_o return_v certificate_n of_o such_o writing_n or_o instrument_n to_o the_o next_o assembly_n where_o satisfaction_n shall_v be_v make_v according_a to_o the_o tenor_n of_o the_o say_a writing_n or_o instrument_n but_o if_o it_o shall_v happen_v that_o such_o sloop_n boat_n etc._n etc._n shall_v be_v cast_v away_o or_o lose_v in_o the_o service_n that_o then_o the_o owner_n of_o such_o sloop_n boat_n vessel_n horse_n etc._n etc._n shall_v be_v at_o his_o choice_n whether_o he_o will_v have_v the_o value_n according_a to_o appraisement_n ascertain_v and_o the_o wage_n for_o the_o hire_n thereof_o ascertain_v or_o the_o wage_n ascertain_v in_o the_o writing_n which_o the_o public_a or_o county_n must_v see_v punctual_o pay_v and_o if_o it_o shall_v happen_v for_o the_o county_n use_v to_o be_v pay_v out_o of_o the_o county_n levy_n and_o if_o for_o the_o public_a use_n the_o county-court_n to_o return_v a_o account_n thereof_o to_o the_o next_o assembly_n where_o full_a satisfaction_n shall_v be_v make_v according_a to_o the_o appraisement_n and_o if_o the_o county_n or_o public_a shall_v impress_v any_o man_n that_o he_o be_v pay_v if_o betwixt_o the_o ten_o of_o september_n and_o the_o ten_o of_o march_n service_n wage_n allow_v man_n impress_v for_o the_o county_n or_o public_a service_n ten_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n per_fw-la day_n and_o if_o betwixt_o the_o ten_o of_o march_n and_o the_o ten_o of_o september_n fifteen_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n per_fw-la day_n for_o the_o first_o ten_o day_n and_o if_o he_o shall_v be_v continue_v in_o such_o employment_n more_o than_o ten_o day_n at_o a_o time_n then_o for_o all_o such_o time_n as_o he_o shall_v serve_v above_o ten_o day_n between_o september_n and_o march_n after_o the_o rate_n of_o two_o hundred_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n per_fw-la month_n and_o betwixt_o march_n and_o september_n after_o the_o rate_n of_o three_o hundred_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n per_fw-la month_n and_o if_o any_o horse_n or_o horse_n be_v impress_v by_o the_o public_a or_o county_n impress_v rate_n allow_v for_o horse_n impress_v the_o owner_n or_o owner_n of_o such_o horse_n shall_v receive_v fifteen_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n per_fw-la day_n for_o the_o first_o twenty_o day_n and_o if_o he_o be_v continue_v long_o than_o twenty_o day_n then_o for_o all_o the_o time_n he_o shall_v be_v employ_v over_o and_o above_o the_o twenty_o day_n after_o the_o rate_n of_o ten_o pound_n of_o tobacco_n per_fw-la day_n and_o before_o the_o impressor_n shall_v take_v such_o horse_n or_o horse_n impress_v away_o he_o shall_v first_o bring_v two_o able_a honest_a man_n of_o the_o neighbourhood_n to_o appraise_v the_o say_a horse_n or_o horse_n and_o a_o writing_n shall_v be_v draw_v and_o sign_v intimate_v the_o value_n and_o if_o such_o horse_n or_o horse_n be_v kill_v in_o the_o service_n or_o otherways_o lose_v it_o shall_v be_v at_o the_o choice_n of_o the_o owner_n of_o such_o horse_n or_o horse_n to_o receive_v the_o value_n as_o appraised_a or_o the_o wage_n for_o hire_n if_o for_o the_o use_n of_o the_o county_n to_o be_v pay_v by_o the_o county_n if_o for_o the_o use_n of_o the_o public_a to_o be_v punctual_o pay_v upon_o return_v certificate_n from_o the_o county-court_n as_o in_o case_n of_o sloop_n and_o in_o case_n any_o person_n or_o person_n shall_v notwithstanding_o this_o law_n presume_v to_o impress_v and_o carry_v away_o any_o sloop-boat_n or_o other_o vessel_n or_o any_o cart_n horse_n arm_n provision_n or_o any_o other_o matter_n or_o thing_n whatsoever_o contrary_a to_o the_o true_a intent_n and_o meaning_n thereof_o shall_v be_v fine_v and_o amerce_v double_a the_o value_n of_o any_o such_o sloop-boat_n etc._n etc._n horse_n
