light_n to_o the_o blind_a and_o to_o they_o which_o be_v lowly_a in_o their_o own_o eye_n it_o be_v our_o great_a corruption_n that_o when_o we_o know_v in_o part_n we_o simile_n be_v as_o they_o that_o have_v a_o glimmer_a sight_n of_o their_o way_n and_o therefore_o lest_o they_o shall_v be_v account_v stark_o blind_a refuse_v a_o leader_n but_o although_o we_o see_v as_o in_o a_o glass_n in_o part_n and_o in_o measure_n yet_o as_o a_o man_n may_v follow_v if_o he_o be_v not_o blind_a the_o light_n of_o the_o lantern_n so_o we_o may_v come_v to_o knowledge_n unless_o we_o shut_v our_o themselves_o in_o every_o particular_a thing_n what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v in_o darkness_n and_o therefore_o as_o we_o have_v say_v do_v no_o more_o desire_n to_o be_v enlighten_v and_o govern_v by_o another_o than_o he_o that_o have_v a_o slender_a eyesight_n &_o hardly_o discern_v his_o way_n refuse_v to_o have_v a_o guide_n as_o though_o he_o be_v blind_a and_o though_o the_o lord_n often_o in_o natural_a thing_n we_o will_v not_o easy_o run_v into_o thing_n fear_v nor_o fear_v those_o thing_n which_o we_o think_v not_o to_o be_v evil_a and_o therefore_o because_o we_o fear_v the_o they_o be_v able_a to_o apply_v the_o threaten_n of_o god_n judgement_n to_o the_o 2_o humble_v of_o themselves_o and_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n to_o comfort_v themselves_o again_o their_o and_o the_o sufficiency_n of_o it_o be_v compare_v to_o the_o sun_n so_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o wicked_a be_v compare_v to_o the_o lightning_n which_o do_v not_o give_v any_o certain_a light_n it_o do_v not_o continue_v any_o time_n and_o when_o it_o be_v go_v man_n be_v worse_o than_o they_o be_v before_o so_o do_v it_o fall_v out_o with_o the_o wicked_a for_o beside_o that_o their_o knowledge_n do_v soon_o vanish_v there_o be_v also_o in_o they_o afterward_o great_a and_o more_o dangerous_a darkness_n than_o there_o be_v before_o herein_o than_o we_o do_v see_v one_o plain_a and_o manifest_a note_n of_o difference_n second_o we_o come_v to_o our_o affection_n certain_a it_o be_v that_o the_o wicked_a do_v desire_v affection_n the_o help_n and_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n but_o look_v to_o the_o cause_n and_o that_o will_v show_v a_o difference_n between_o they_o and_o the_o godly_a the_o wicked_a do_v only_o seek_v help_n because_o of_o some_o extremity_n which_o they_o suffer_v they_o only_o desire_v to_o be_v in_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n because_o they_o 1_o will_v be_v free_v from_o grief_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v common_a with_o they_o to_o say_v oh_o that_o i_o be_v out_o of_o this_o pain_n oh_o that_o this_o my_o sorrow_n be_v take_v from_o i_o by_o which_o speech_n they_o show_v that_o so_o they_o may_v be_v at_o rest_n or_o live_v at_o their_o ease_n they_o will_v little_o weigh_v of_o the_o help_n or_o favour_n of_o god_n but_o the_o godly_a find_v such_o sweetness_n in_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n that_o for_o the_o desire_n thereof_o they_o can_v be_v content_a to_o forgo_v all_o the_o pleasure_n of_o this_o life_n yea_o they_o can_v be_v content_a to_o suffer_v much_o and_o endure_v the_o cross_n patient_o so_o that_o rather_o vouchsafe_v to_o bless_v his_o ministry_n he_o must_v pray_v continual_o for_o himself_o and_o his_o people_n both_o open_o and_o private_o &_o be_v very_o circumspect_a in_o administer_a the_o sacrament_n 3._o he_o must_v live_v a_o godly_a life_n and_o set_v himself_o as_o example_n for_o his_o flock_n to_o follow_v and_o so_o much_o the_o rather_o ought_v he_o to_o look_v more_o near_o to_o all_o his_o way_n because_o the_o adversary_n if_o any_o thing_n be_v otherwise_o than_o well_o with_o the_o minister_n will_v straightway_o with_o open_a mouth_n blaspheme_v the_o gospel_n which_o be_v most_o pure_a and_o unreprovable_a whereas_o if_o they_o have_v nothing_o whereof_o to_o accuse_v the_o minister_n neither_o can_v they_o blame_v the_o word_n which_o they_o only_o heave_v at_o to_o overthrow_v it_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a take_v occasion_n by_o the_o minister_n to_o blame_v the_o word_n for_o a_o other_o cause_n also_o must_v he_o live_v unreprovable_a and_o that_o be_v because_o he_o must_v watch_v over_o the_o soul_n of_o other_o which_o charge_v he_o can_v perform_v except_o he_o be_v able_a to_o watch_v over_o his_o own_o three_o in_o this_o respect_n that_o his_o election_n may_v be_v sure_o know_v unto_o himself_o least_o in_o preach_v of_o himself_o the_o election_n unto_o other_o he_o be_v a_o reprobate_n himself_o so_o that_o when_o he_o threaten_v the_o judgement_n of_o god_n against_o other_o he_o shall_v condemn_v himself_o and_o when_o he_o raise_v up_o the_o penitent_a with_o the_o promise_n he_o himself_o shall_v fall_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o good_a thing_n shall_v become_v evil_a and_o evil_a thing_n become_v good_a the_o good_a blessing_n of_o god_n when_o by_o our_o corruption_n they_o be_v abuse_v to_o wantonness_n be_v make_v hurtful_a unto_o we_o because_o they_o make_v our_o condemnation_n great_a but_o these_o cross_n when_o in_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n they_o be_v sanctify_v unto_o we_o then_o be_v they_o good_a for_o as_o much_o as_o they_o work_v a_o care_n in_o we_o to_o keep_v the_o commandment_n where_o he_o say_v it_o be_v good_a that_o he_o have_v be_v afflict_v and_o not_o that_o i_o be_o afflict_v it_o agree_v with_o that_o which_o be_v in_o the_o epist_n heb._n 12._o no_o affliction_n be_v joyous_a for_o the_o present_a time_n for_o in_o poverty_n there_o be_v no_o device_n into_o their_o head_n that_o otherwise_o be_v wonderful_a to_o come_v into_o a_o mortal_a man_n mind_n so_o then_o they_o that_o do_v not_o rest_v in_o hear_v and_o read_v but_o endeavour_n by_o meditation_n to_o find_v and_o draw_v out_o a_o use_n of_o it_o in_o themselves_o wonderful_o do_v profit_n and_o mighty_o excel_v other_o let_v we_o not_o rest_v in_o our_o oversight_n but_o stir_v up_o and_o provoke_v our_o affection_n to_o take_v a_o new_a view_n of_o those_o thing_n which_o we_o have_v hear_v whereby_o we_o may_v gather_v more_o unto_o ourselves_o than_o that_o which_o up_o affection_n as_o thus_o be_v this_o good_a i_o will_v do_v it_o be_v this_o the_o obedience_n reward_v i_o will_v obey_v it_o be_v this_o forbid_v i_o will_v avoid_v it_o be_v this_o threaten_a with_o so_o fearful_a judgement_n i_o quake_v and_o tremble_v to_o think_v of_o it_o by_o the_o help_n of_o this_o many_o will_v speak_v on_o a_o sudden_a because_o they_o speak_v out_o of_o the_o god_n that_o we_o be_v so_o unapt_a to_o practice_v want_v dexterity_n of_o wit_n bereave_v of_o sound_a judgement_n beside_o many_o other_o punishment_n due_a to_o the_o contempt_n of_o god_n word_n when_o our_o own_o conscience_n shall_v accuse_v we_o say_v this_o good_a thou_o may_v have_v have_v this_o comfort_n thou_o may_v have_v enjoy_v have_v thou_o meditate_a on_o the_o word_n there_o fail_v profaneness_n in_o many_o good_a thing_n or_o else_o the_o cause_n may_v be_v some_o secret_a sin_n not_o repent_v of_o why_o there_o be_v such_o store_n of_o ill_a and_o such_o barrenness_n worldliness_n what_o say_v we_o oh_o there_o be_v a_o jolly_a thrive_a fellow_n and_o thus_o for_o want_v of_o a_o sanctify_a wit_n and_o sight_n we_o remain_v fool_n and_o unthrift_n in_o spiritual_a thing_n but_o it_o stand_v with_o the_o righteous_a judgement_n of_o god_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v deprive_v of_o the_o understanding_n of_o heavenly_a thing_n which_o so_o greedy_o turn_v all_o
