sure_a and_o certain_a that_o nothing_o neither_o above_o nor_o beneath_o can_v annoy_v he_o and_o why_o because_o he_o believe_v in_o christ_n and_o be_v sure_a of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n toward_o he_o through_o faith_n and_o therefore_o be_v his_o conscience_n so_o quiet_a and_o triumphant_a and_o even_o so_o may_v every_o christian_a man_n likewise_o take_v the_o same_o courage_n &_o the_o same_o mind_n in_o himself_o learn_v howbeit_o no_o man_n can_v do_v this_o unless_o he_o put_v away_o all_o respect_n of_o his_o own_o merit_n and_o work_n and_o only_o trust_v unto_o the_o free_a mercy_n and_o grace_n of_o god_n 3._o which_o grace_n be_v give_v we_o only_o through_o christ_n and_o not_o through_o ourselves_o notwithstanding_o yet_o that_o good_a work_n of_o we_o consequent_o do_v follow_v and_o springe_n out_o of_o this_o faith_n and_o promise_v of_o god_n so_o that_o where_o as_o the_o same_o do_v not_o follow_v and_o may_v follow_v there_o be_v no_o true_a nor_o lively_a faith_n but_o a_o deed_n and_o barren_a opinion_n of_o faith_n but_o where_o this_o true_a and_o lively_a faith_n be_v there_o be_v work_n and_o miracle_n and_o thing_n far_o pass_v the_o possibility_n of_o natural_a work_n for_o as_o saint_n paul_n say_v we_o receive_v the_o holy_a ghost_n 3._o not_o by_o our_o work_n but_o by_o hear_v of_o the_o gospel_n this_o holy_a ghost_n will_v not_o suffer_v we_o to_o doubt_n after_o the_o papist_n fashion_n or_o as_o they_o will_v have_v we_o not_o to_o fear_v as_o their_o servile_a spirit_n do_v but_o with_o a_o bold_a trust_n cry_v in_o our_o heart_n to_o god_o abb_n a_o father_n and_o witness_v with_o our_o spirit_n that_o we_o be_v the_o child_n and_o the_o heir_n of_o god_o and_o fellow_n heir_n with_o c●riste_n that_o we_o may_v be_v glorify_v together_o with_o he_o and_o as_o paul_n to_o the_o ephesian_n say_v 1_n they_o that_o believe_v in_o christ_n be_v seal_v up_o with_o the_o holy_a spirit_n of_o promise_n the_o with_o spirit_n we_o have_v as_o a_o pledge_n pledge_n or_o a_o earnest_a penny_n of_o our_o inheritance_n and_o possession_n which_o we_o have_v get_v and_o be_v redeem_v unto_o therefore_o with_o all_o faith_n &_o trust_v we_o must_v ever_o look_v upon_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n and_o upon_o jesus_n christ_n only_o and_o so_o in_o this_o promise_n of_o god_n our_o conscience_n may_v find_v comfort_n and_o peace_n plenty_n but_o in_o our_o work_n we_o shall_v find_v none_o and_o therefore_o mark_v well_o this_o text_n of_o paul_n and_o keep_v it_o well_o in_o your_o remembrance_n 4._o where_o he_o say_v abraham_n have_v this_o promise_n give_v to_o he_o and_o to_o his_o seed_n that_o he_o shall_v be_v the_o heir_n of_o the_o world_n not_o for_o his_o work_n after_o the_o law_n but_o for_o his_o believe_v in_o faith_n for_o if_o they_o that_o belong_v to_o the_o law_n be_v the_o heir_n then_o be_v faith_n void_a and_o the_o promise_n of_o none_o effect_n for_o why_o the_o the_o promise_n must_v stand_v firm_a and_o stable_a to_o all_o y_fw-es seed_n of_o abraham_n daily_o experience_n experience_n and_o practice_v in_o trouble_n and_o distress_n declare_v that_o no_o man_n be_v he_o never_o so_o holy_a can_v quiet_v his_o conscience_n by_o his_o work_n our_o sin_n and_o death_n be_v more_o grievous_a enemy_n unto_o we_o then_o that_o we_o be_v able_a to_o over_o come_v by_o our_o own_o deed_n and_o deserve_n we_o must_v have_v a_o other_o manner_n of_o mean_n to_o that_o which_o be_v our_o faith_n receive_v and_o hol●eing_v the_o promise_n of_o god_o in_o christ_n and_o so_o that_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o conquer_v the_o mighty_a fierceness_n of_o sin_n &_o death_n this_o faith_n retain_v and_o apprehend_v those_o infallible_a and_o eternal_a thing_n that_o be_v to_o say_v it_o receive_v not_o the_o feeble_a work_n of_o we_o but_o the_o great_a grace_n of_o god_o christ_n himself_o his_o work_n and_o his_o deserve_n and_o the_o promise_n in_o christ_n which_o thing_n be_v much_o great_a high_a more_o stable_n and_o magnifical_a than_o our_o capacity_n be_v able_a to_o comprehend_v therefore_o when_o any_o tentation_n assault_v we_o must_v not_o look_v to_o the_o law_n and_o our_o work_n tentation_n but_o set_v all_o they_o aside_o we_o must_v run_v and_o creep_v to_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n we_o must_v seek_v for_o help_n and_o grace_n by_o christ_n and_o humble_o must_v knowledge_n our_o fault_n and_o though_o our_o sin_n be_v never_o so_o great_a or_o grievous_a though_o the_o fear_n and_o tentation_n of_o
