17._o i_o have_v appoint_v thou_o to_o be_v the_o father_n of_o many_o nation_n sure_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v true_a that_o god_n he_o self_n say_v but_o how_o i_o pray_v you_o shall_v he_o be_v itself_o this_o be_v then_o to_o be_v consider_v in_o asmuch_o as_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n be_v mortal_a as_o be_v the_o husband_n to_o the_o wife_n it_o can_v be_v no_o wonder_n to_o the_o true_a christian_n man_n to_o hear_v that_o it_o be_v dead_a which_o so_o long_o as_o it_o be_v alive_a have_v full_a strength_n and_o power_n over_o they_o that_o be_v in_o subjection_n to_o it_o how_o be_v it_o at_o this_o time_n you_o jew_n you_o have_v no_o matter_n to_o do_v with_o the_o law_n in_o as_o much_o as_o it_o be_v now_o dead_a to_o you_o effect_n or_o at_o the_o least_o wise_n you_o dead_a to_o it_o though_o it_o be_v still_o alive_a for_o after_o that_o chryst_n which_o be_v the_o only_a truth_n come_v amongst_o we_o all_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n be_v abrogate_v frustrate_v and_o of_o none_o effect_n as_o touch_v the_o letter_n and_o ceremony_n thereof_o consider_v therefore_o you_o be_v all_o now_o incorporate_a into_o the_o body_n of_o chryst_n and_o marry_v unto_o he_o as_o a_o wife_n unto_o her_o husband_n be_v set_v at_o liberty_n from_o her_o old_a husband_n by_o the_o death_n of_o the_o law_n and_o further_o christ_n see_v your_o husband_n now_o at_o these_o day_n be_v all_o we_o have_v the_o less_o regard_n to_o consider_v what_o be_v lust_n to_o sin_n in_o as_o much_o as_o all_o we_o by_o nature_n set_v small_a store_n by_o such_o thing_n as_o we_o think_v we_o may_v have_v at_o our_o will_n and_o commandment_n wherefore_o after_o the_o law_n have_v once_o set_v forth_o the_o multitude_n of_o sin_n to_o our_o face_n and_o do_v forbid_v they_o to_o we_o lust_n also_o take_v some_o occasion_n by_o the_o law_n itself_o because_o as_o i_o say_v before_o man_n do_v most_o common_o lust_n after_o that_o which_o be_v forbid_v they_o i_o be_v then_o even_o the_o jew_n have_v pre-eminence_n because_o the_o same_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o say_a instructor_n goodness_n may_v be_v the_o ready_a to_o the_o true_a faith_n in_o jesus_n christ_n for_o as_o he_o be_v more_o near_o
it_o be_v give_v of_o god_n who_o be_v always_o perfect_o good_a of_o himself_o so_o it_o propone_a and_o set_v forth_o unto_o all_o man_n good_a and_o wholesome_a ensignement_n 2._o for_o it_o can_v be_v choose_v but_o that_o the_o thing_n must_v needs_o be_v good_a and_o godly_a that_o hate_v and_o forbid_v sin_n and_o naughtiness_n and_o here_o another_o will_v say_v unto_o i_o then_o see_v the_o just_a judgement_n of_o god_n over_o i_o and_o perpetual_a condemnation_n to_o my_o soul_n the_o good_a nature_n of_o reason_n and_o honesty_n through_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o the_o inward_a man_n draw_v i_o to_o the_o estimation_n of_o love_n and_o virtue_n whereunto_o i_o be_o true_o teach_v by_o the_o law_n but_o i_o find_v also_o a_o other_o law_n in_o the_o member_n of_o my_o outward_a man_n which_o be_v clean_o contrary_a to_o the_o law_n of_o my_o inward_a man_n and_o violent_o stir_v i_o to_o the_o greedy_a embracement_n of_o evil_a therefore_o concupiscence_n you_o make_v neither_o challenge_n nor_o payment_n of_o any_o custom_n tribute_n or_o other_o earthy_a tax_n one_o of_o a_o other_o but_o only_o of_o mutual_a and_o brotherly_a charity_n &_o to_o lead_v your_o life_n in_o unity_n which_o also_o that_o of_o right_n &_o by_o order_n be_v to_o be_v do_v amongst_o you_o let_v it_o be_v of_o that_o perfection_n and_o christian_a vehemency_n that_o there_o be_v no_o delay_n towards_o any_o person_n which_o shall_v lawful_o require_v it_o and_o to_o avoid_v a_o extremity_n of_o his_o condition_n that_o after_o oft_o demand_n may_v chance_v to_o fall_v to_o the_o magistrate_n when_o you_o have_v pay_v that_o which_o they_o have_v tax_v upon_o you_o then_o be_v you_o free_a for_o the_o time_n and_o no_o long_a debtor_n in_o that_o behalf_n unto_o they_o but_o although_o through_o your_o godly_a charity_n you_o have_v thus_o full_o satisfy_v all_o man_n to_o their_o lawful_a request_n yet_o it_o do_v never_o satisfy_v itself_o but_o always_o labour_v &_o study_v to_o heap_v benefit_n upon_o benefit_n unto_o every_o man._n 1._o therefore_o before_o all_o other_o thing_n embrace_v and_o keep_v still_o amongst_o you_o that_o noble_a virtue_n charity_n which_o in_o itself_o fulfil_v most_o ample_o all_o the_o whole_a law_n for_o whatsoever_o he_o be_v that_o in_o pure_a &_o christian_a charity_n love_v his_o neighbour_n have_v in_o himself_o the_o very_a sum_n of_o moses_n law_n &_o please_v god_n most_o singular_o but_o if_o charity_n be_v away_o the_o observation_n of_o many_o law_n suffice_v not_o though_o the_o number_n of_o they_o be_v infinite_a again_o if_o it_o bear_v sway_n and_o reign_v amongst_o you_o there_o need_v none_o other_o law_n at_o all_o in_o as_o much_o as_o this_o only_a virtue_n of_o charity_n set_v forth_o unto_o our_o perfect_a knowledge_n 5._o the_o full_a effect_n that_o the_o whole_a commandment_n require_v of_o we_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n forbid_v adultery_n manslaughter_n theft_n false_a witness_n covet_v of_o another_o man_n good_n usury_n with_o many_o such_o like_a but_o the_o whole_a sum_n of_o all_o these_o be_v brief_o comprehend_v in_o this_o commandment_n of_o charity_n 22._o thou_o shall_v love_v thy_o neighbour_n as_o thyself_o charity_n to_o her_o power_n seek_v for_o the_o profit_n of_o all_o man_n whether_o they_o be_v good_a or_o evil_n and_o not_o to_o hurt_v any_o man_n therefore_o to_o what_o purpose_n do_v it_o serve_v to_o prohibit_v that_o you_o do_v no_o hurt_n 13._o this_o way_n or_o that_o way_n sith_o the_o nature_n of_o charity_n be_v to_o hurt_v no_o man_n whatsoever_o he_o be_v can_v he_o that_o love_v kill_v will_v he_o that_o love_v his_o neighbour_n as_o himself_o seek_v to_o defile_v his_o neighbour_n wife_n work_v will_v he_o rob_v and_o spoil_v his_o neighbour_n of_o his_o good_n that_o be_v ready_a to_o help_v and_o succour_v he_o with_o his_o own_o gâ—â—d_n â—â—e_z will_v he_o bear_v false_a witness_n to_o the_o hurt_n of_o his_o neighbour_n that_o upon_o his_o own_o peril_n will_v save_v and_o defend_v he_o will_v he_o set_v forth_o his_o riches_n unto_o usury_n which_o think_v the_o whole_a sum_n of_o his_o good_n to_o be_v common_a for_o other_o necessity_n will_v he_o covet_v another_o man_n loss_n or_o misfortune_n to_o who_o he_o wish_v as_o well_o as_o to_o himself_o or_o can_v he_o with_o will_v vex_v any_o man_n for_o who_o chryst_n die_v if_o he_o unfeigned_o love_v chryst_n and_o he_o it_o be_v very_o true_a therefore_o that_o charity_n itself_o be_v the_o sum_n of_o the_o whole_a law_n by_o charity_n we_o all_o learn_v what_o to_o follow_v and_o what_o to_o eschew_v and_o put_v away_o from_o we_o to_o the_o love_n of_o which_o we_o even_o the_o very_a nature_n and_o condition_n of_o the_o time_n enforce_v we_o that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o in_o take_v upon_o we_o true_a repentance_n and_o amendment_n of_o our_o life_n we_o awake_v even_o from_o the_o sleep_n of_o darkness_n and_o death_n the_o error_n of_o our_o old_a life_n the_o night_n season_n in_o the_o darkness_n thereof_o seem_v to_o give_v liberty_n of_o offence_n because_o of_o his_o own_o condition_n it_o be_v shameless_a and_o dark_a for_o in_o the_o darkness_n of_o the_o night_n all_o such_o as_o in_o the_o uncleanness_n of_o their_o heart_n be_v incline_v to_o whoredom_n and_o wantonness_n give_v themselves_o then_o to_o fulfil_v their_o filthy_a lust_n yet_o notwithstanding_o as_o soon_o as_o daylighte_n appear_v 3._o they_o leave_v off_o their_o sinful_a work_n of_o darkness_n and_o do_v deck_v or_o fashion_v themselves_o again_o to_o the_o open_a show_n and_o face_n of_o the_o world_n wherein_o be_v thus_o in_o the_o brightness_n of_o the_o day_n make_v again_o as_o new_a man_n they_o show_v themselves_o abroad_o and_o be_v become_v of_o filthy_a wanton_n chaste_a and_o clean_a person_n of_o drunkard_n sober_a man_n of_o seditious_a fellow_n quiet_a man_n and_o of_o slothful_a and_o lumpish_a lubbor_n lively_a quick_a and_o cheerful_a man_n for_o which_o cause_n according_a to_o the_o time_n we_o must_v holy_o apply_v and_o frame_v our_o life_n which_o if_o we_o in_o deed_n shall_v right_o use_v we_o shall_v then_o the_o more_o joyful_o account_v upon_o our_o salvation_n and_o to_o be_v now_o near_o at_o hand_n unto_o we_o than_o in_o the_o day_n of_o moses_n although_o we_o then_o believe_v it_o to_o be_v very_o nigh_o unto_o we_o the_o night_n of_o our_o old_a life_n be_v go_v &_o pass_v and_o the_o clear_a day_n be_v even_o at_o hand_n which_o shall_v make_v open_a and_o manifest_a all_o the_o most_o deep_a and_o dark_a secret_n that_o lie_v most_o covert_o hide_v let_v we_o now_o therefore_o in_o the_o bright_a day_n of_o god_n grace_n shine_v present_o upon_o we_o most_o happy_o embrace_v it_o and_o conform_v ourselves_o to_o the_o clearness_n of_o that_o heavenly_a light_n cast_v away_o from_o we_o all_o our_o deadly_a dark_a &_o nightly_a manner_n whereof_o in_o the_o fair_a light_n of_o the_o day_n we_o may_v be_v all_o ashamed_a and_o if_o it_o be_v a_o godly_a manner_n that_o as_o soon_o as_o the_o light_n of_o the_o day_n appear_v we_o glad_o yield_v to_o the_o time_n and_o every_o of_o we_o deck_v our_o body_n with_o more_o comely_a apparel_n that_o in_o the_o sight_n of_o man_n we_o may_v appear_v more_o decent_a &_o seemly_a then_o much_o rather_o at_o the_o come_n of_o the_o clear_a light_n of_o the_o gospel_n we_o shall_v adorn_v and_o garnish_v our_o soul_n with_o the_o most_o seemly_a &_o beautiful_a vesture_n of_o virtue_n and_o he_o that_o thus_o worthy_o walk_v in_o this_o true_a light_n of_o life_n let_v he_o not_o dread_n at_o any_o time_n the_o sight_n of_o god_n who_o ever_o and_o in_o all_o place_n behold_v our_o do_n and_o so_o let_v we_o altogether_o in_o this_o world_n dispose_v our_o life_n that_o it_o may_v evident_o appear_v before_o the_o face_n of_o god_n before_o all_o his_o holy_a angel_n and_o unto_o all_o other_o his_o creature_n that_o we_o have_v clear_o cast_v from_o we_o the_o obscurity_n and_o darkness_n of_o our_o life_n and_o to_o walk_v honest_o in_o the_o clear_a light_n itself_o not_o abuse_v the_o time_n in_o eat_v &_o drink_v 21._o in_o chamber_v &_o wantonness_n neither_o in_o strife_n &_o envy_v or_o unchristen_o contend_v among_o yourselves_o 3_o with_o all_o which_o vice_n &_o such_o like_a you_o have_v heretofore_o be_v most_o filthy_o spot_v and_o foil_v walk_v in_o the_o darkness_n of_o your_o old_a life_n but_o now_o at_o your_o holy_a conversation_n all_o your_o life_n long_o who_o name_n
which_o what_o so_o ever_o he_o promise_v unto_o abraham_n in_o his_o posterity_n he_o have_v perform_v it_o unto_o we_o moses_n in_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n who_o he_o restore_v again_o from_o death_n to_o life_n declare_v thereby_o that_o abraham_n do_v not_o believe_v amiss_o which_o trust_v that_o he_o can_v give_v life_n to_o the_o dead_a and_o to_o make_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o for_o to_o be_v we_o ought_v not_o therefore_o to_o give_v our_o thank_n unto_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n for_o our_o justification_n but_o whole_o &_o altogether_o to_o christ_n which_o â—â—â—ly_o yield_v himself_o to_o death_n to_o put_v away_o our_o sin_n without_o our_o desert_n and_o the_o same_o rose_n again_o from_o death_n to_o the_o end_n we_o shall_v abstain_v from_o deadly_a thing_n and_o never_o after_o commit_v such_o enormity_n and_o sin_n as_o christ_n die_v for_o i_o say_v therefore_o that_o christ_n die_v to_o kill_v our_o sin_n in_o we_o and_o the_o same_o rose_n again_o from_o death_n that_o we_o by_o mean_n of_o he_o be_v make_v dead_a to_o our_o sin_n shall_v also_o rise_v again_o with_o he_o unto_o newness_n of_o life_n and_o to_o live_v according_a to_o righteousness_n which_o by_o the_o benefit_n of_o his_o death_n we_o have_v most_o ample_o receive_v the_o five_o chapter_n the_o power_n of_o faith_n hope_n and_o love_n and_o how_o death_n reign_v from_o adam_n unto_o christ_n by_o who_o only_o we_o have_v forgeevenesse_n of_o our_o sin_n therefore_o 26._o we_o be_v make_v righteous_a from_o our_o sin_n not_o by_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n which_o augment_v rather_o our_o offence_n neither_o by_o the_o merit_n of_o our_o good_a work_v but_o even_o as_o abraham_n be_v so_o be_v we_o also_o reconcile_v unto_o god_n 6._o through_o sin_n open_v unto_o we_o the_o way_n whereby_o we_o through_o our_o faith_n without_o the_o help_n of_o our_o circumcision_n may_v be_v drought_n into_o the_o graâ—e_n of_o the_o gospel_n in_o which_o gospel_n 3_n all_o that_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n stand_v steadfast_o in_o faith_n neither_o stand_v they_o all_o only_a with_o light_n and_o mercy_n heart_n but_o also_o rejoice_v and_o glory_n as_o well_o for_o that_o they_o be_v atone_v with_o god_n as_o also_o to_o have_v sure_a hope_n show_v unto_o they_o that_o for_o the_o continuance_n of_o their_o faith_n they_o shall_v once_o come_v though_o it_o do_v not_o yet_o appear_v but_o most_o suffer_v many_o thing_n before_o we_o come_v unto_o it_o gospel_n yet_o we_o account_v our_o affliction_n and_o trouble_n of_o great_a glory_n and_o praise_n which_o we_o suffer_v in_o the_o mean_a time_n and_o shall_v open_v the_o way_n for_o we_o into_o immortality_n for_o we_o have_v receive_v this_o example_n and_o mighty_a doctrine_n of_o christ_n himself_o that_o in_o suffer_a affliction_n patient_a be_v make_v strong_a and_o by_o patience_n we_o be_v render_v unto_o god_n and_o prove_v daily_o amongst_o man_n again_o the_o more_o that_o we_o be_v prove_v by_o perplexity_n and_o trouble_n so_o much_o the_o more_o strong_a be_v our_o hope_n of_o reward_n neither_o shall_v we_o doubt_v or_o fear_n that_o our_o hope_n will_v deceive_v we_o and_o forsake_v we_o or_o be_v once_o ashamed_a that_o we_o have_v believe_v in_o as_o much_o as_o we_o have_v a_o sure_a earnest_n or_o gage_n that_o it_o be_v his_o wonderful_a god_n have_v not_o wonderful_o love_v we_o his_o only_a dear_a son_n shall_v not_o have_v be_v suffer_v to_o descend_v into_o this_o miserable_a world_n and_o to_o receive_v mortal_a flesh_n upon_o he_o and_o therein_o to_o suffer_v death_n yea_o the_o most_o cruel_a and_o shameful_a death_n for_o we_o which_o be_v abandon_v and_o give_v over_o to_o all_o filthy_a and_o dissolute_a live_n this_o his_o life_n shall_v maintain_v the_o lovely_a freedom_n of_o his_o father_n towards_o we_o these_o be_v such_o evident_a token_n of_o god_n almighty_a love_n towards_o we_o that_o we_o may_v not_o only_o we_o sure_o with_o firm_a hope_n and_o confidence_n that_o we_o be_v safe_a from_o his_o ire_n to_o come_v but_o also_o they_o lively_o encourage_v we_o to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o same_o not_o vaunt_v or_o extol_v our_o good_a work_v but_o whole_o give_v thanks_n to_o god_n to_o who_o only_a goodness_n we_o may_v ever_o refer_v all_o our_o perfect_v felicity_n which_o he_o have_v prepare_v for_o we_o not_o by_o the_o law_n nor_o by_o circumcision_n or_o other_o ceremony_n but_o only_o by_o his_o son_n jesus_n christ_n and_o it_o be_v most_o secret_o provide_v by_o the_o high_a council_n
