search_v after_o than_o the_o truth_n all_o the_o world_n invocate_v the_o truth_n as_o we_o read_v 1_o esdras_n 4._o yea_o wicked_a man_n themselves_o though_o they_o be_v liar_n and_o false_a yet_o will_v press_v other_o to_o speak_v the_o truth_n and_o will_v not_o be_v cheat_v and_o deceive_v much_o more_o beautiful_a be_v truth_n in_o spiritual_a thing_n but_o pilate_n do_v not_o ask_v this_o no_o more_o move_v than_o if_o he_o have_v offer_v gold_n or_o most_o orient_a pearl_n to_o a_o blind_a man_n he_o be_v as_o blind_a as_o a_o beetle_n the_o sun_n be_v darkness_n to_o he_o he_o who_o understanding_n be_v darken_v can_v discern_v the_o splendour_n of_o truth_n which_o dart_v the_o ray_n of_o its_o lustre_n into_o the_o mind_n of_o the_o godly_a pilate_n indeed_o be_v not_o worthy_a to_o hear_v a_o answer_n to_o his_o question_n he_o hear_v enough_o if_o he_o will_v have_v believe_v it_o 2._o but_o christ_n will_v no_o long_o linger_v out_o his_o passion_n and_o what_o need_n be_v there_o to_o inquire_v what_o be_v truth_n lo_o christ_n that_o stand_v there_o present_a be_v and_o be_v the_o truth_n whatever_o idolatrous_a priest_n trifle_v about_o virtue_n or_o the_o jewish_a high_a priest_n teach_v concern_v fleshly_a righteousness_n they_o be_v all_o but_o lie_v nothing_o but_o christ_n and_o the_o gospel_n only_o be_v truth_n and_o what_o follow_v and_o be_v draw_v by_o consequence_n from_o the_o gospel_n but_o pilate_n have_v not_o receive_v a_o answer_n to_o his_o mind_n go_v out_o to_o the_o jew_n again_o he_o suppose_v that_o the_o law_n of_o caesar_n will_v have_v serve_v his_o turn_n and_o that_o he_o need_v no_o other_o knowledge_n of_o the_o truth_n second_o he_o perceive_v that_o this_o do_v not_o much_o concern_v the_o case_n in_o hand_n three_o he_o see_v the_o jew_n be_v in_o haste_n and_o it_o be_v no_o time_n to_o talk_v any_o long_o with_o christ_n for_o the_o jew_n be_v afraid_a lest_o christ_n shall_v mollify_v the_o mind_n of_o the_o judge_n with_o his_o word_n which_o they_o know_v be_v very_o efficacious_a and_o penetrate_a last_o he_o have_v now_o learned_a by_o experience_n that_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o christ_n whereby_o he_o may_v defend_v himself_o if_o he_o be_v put_v to_o death_n and_o complaint_n thereof_o shall_v be_v make_v to_o caesar_n against_o he_o for_o his_o unjust_a punishment_n for_o against_o the_o jew_n which_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o a_o righteous_a judge_n though_o such_o be_v rare_a to_o be_v find_v whence_o it_o be_v that_o the_o prince_n of_o the_o jew_n be_v so_o often_o reprove_v for_o not_o judge_v the_o cause_n of_o the_o fatherless_a isa_n 1._o therefore_o moses_n will_v have_v such_o judge_n that_o hate_a covetousness_n exod._n 23._o for_o bribe_n will_v make_v
