of_o our_o dependence_n upon_o he_o and_o so_o in_o other_o his_o attribute_n 7_o not_o as_o if_o we_o be_v able_a to_o draw_v the_o full_a proportiof_n god_n attribute_n which_o we_o know_v be_v all_o infinite_a in_o the_o narrow_a compass_n of_o our_o heart_n or_o affection_n there_o be_v no_o room_n or_o space_n for_o any_o thing_n that_o be_v infinite_a to_o stand_v there_o in_o its_o peace_n and_o may_v endanger_v his_o life_n it_o self_n so_o that_o no_o man_n will_v willing_o be_v in_o the_o world_n without_o a_o house_n over_o his_o head_n and_o he_o think_v himself_o poor_a and_o miserable_a indeed_o that_o have_v none_o so_o do_v the_o hope_n of_o find_v favour_n with_o god_n and_o of_o obtain_v salvation_n by_o christ_n arm_n and_o fence_v the_o soul_n and_o conscience_n of_o man_n from_o the_o spiritual_a annoyance_n and_o inconvenience_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n due_a unto_o they_o they_o be_v not_o able_a with_o any_o tolerable_a peace_n or_o comfort_n of_o their_o life_n to_o bear_v the_o fiery_a and_o terrible_a assault_n and_o incursion_n of_o the_o fear_n of_o hell_n and_o damnation_n which_o will_v ever_o and_o anon_o be_v break_v in_o upon_o they_o have_v they_o not_o some_o hope_n of_o salvation_n to_o guard_v and_o fence_v their_o conscience_n withal_o therefore_o there_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o necessity_n lie_v upon_o all_o man_n to_o build_v themselves_o such_o spiritual_a house_n as_o these_o that_o be_v to_o raise_v some_o hope_n &_o dependence_n on_o god_n in_o themselves_o because_o otherwise_o their_o conscience_n will_v be_v too_o hot_a for_o they_o and_o their_o sin_n and_o hell_n and_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n together_o will_v torment_v they_o before_o their_o time_n and_o give_v they_o no_o rest_n neither_o night_n nor_o day_n but_o say_v our_o saviour_n in_o effect_n as_o he_o shall_v show_v himself_o a_o very_a weak_a and_o foolish_a man_n that_o can_v build_v himself_o a_o material_a house_n to_o dwell_v in_o upon_o the_o sand_n which_o be_v a_o loose_a matter_n and_o no_o way_n likely_a to_o bear_v the_o foundation_n of_o a_o building_n especial_o when_o stress_n of_o weather_n come_v when_o boisterous_a wind_n rage_a reins_n swell_a flood_n shall_v at_o once_o assault_v it_o so_o be_v that_o man_n very_o unwise_a in_o his_o generation_n that_o build_v any_o hope_n or_o dependence_n on_o god_n for_o protection_n or_o deliverance_n in_o any_o kind_n upon_o any_o such_o opinion_n and_o persuasion_n of_o he_o that_o he_o shall_v tolerate_v and_o connive_v at_o or_o any_o way_n approve_v or_o countenance_v such_o as_o shall_v despise_v the_o word_n of_o my_o mouth_n that_o shall_v only_o give_v i_o the_o hear_n of_o my_o righteous_a law_n and_o commandment_n in_o the_o gospel_n and_o cast_v they_o behind_o their_o back_n when_o they_o have_v do_v and_o walk_v on_o their_o own_o way_n notwithstanding_o and_o yet_o say_v he_o there_o be_v a_o generation_n of_o man_n that_o will_v do_v it_o that_o will_v build_v upon_o these_o spiritual_a sand_n these_o washie_a loose_a and_o ungrounded_a conceit_n and_o apprehension_n of_o god_n 28._o so_o again_o if_o the_o root_n of_o a_o man_n hope_n or_o dependence_n on_o god_n for_o life_n and_o salvation_n shall_v be_v any_o such_o opinion_n of_o he_o as_o this_o that_o he_o will_v set_v my_o good_a work_n against_o my_o evil_n my_o righteousness_n against_o my_o fin_n and_o for_o the_o merit_n of_o the_o one_o will_v pardon_v the_o demerit_n of_o the_o other_o or_o that_o he_o will_v justify_v i_o or_o accept_v of_o i_o in_o any_o other_o way_n or_o by_o any_o other_o mean_n then_o in_o and_o by_o and_o through_o jesus_n christ_n alone_o this_o root_n be_v this_o manner_n sir_n i_o know_v you_o be_v a_o friend_n of_o good_a fellow_n and_o wish_v well_o to_o those_o that_o will_v be_v free_a and_o merry_a among_o their_o cup_n i_o pray_v stand_v my_o friend_n in_o such_o a_o business_n i_o depend_v upon_o your_o help_n and_o countenance_n to_o be_v bring_v off_o from_o my_o trouble_n without_o much_o loss_n or_o shame_n etc._n etc._n will_v not_o such_o a_o motion_n and_o pretend_a trust_n and_o confidence_n be_v interpret_v rather_o as_o a_o abuse_n or_o a_o disparagement_n to_o such_o a_o man_n and_o consequent_o be_v utter_o reject_v by_o he_o so_o what_o conceit_n or_o apprehension_n soever_o it_o be_v that_o any_o man_n shall_v take_v unto_o himself_o concern_v god_n otherwise_o then_o according_a to_o truth_n and_o what_o god_n have_v reveal_v of_o himself_o in_o his_o word_n and_o work_n and_o shall_v strengthen_v and_o encourage_v his_o soul_n thereby_o to_o stay_v himself_o or_o to_o depend_v upon_o he_o shall_v rather_o profane_v that_o glorious_a and_o fearful_a name_n the_o lord_n his_o god_n than_o any_o way_n honour_n or_o sanctify_v it_o by_o such_o a_o dependence_n and_o consequent_o his_o dependence_n and_o he_o be_v like_a to_o perish_v together_o for_o there_o be_v no_o thought_n or_o apprehension_n that_o can_v be_v frame_v and_o fashion_v in_o the_o mind_n of_o a_o man_n concern_v god_n but_o will_v be_v a_o profanation_n of_o he_o except_v only_o those_o that_o answer_v the_o truth_n of_o his_o nature_n and_o be_v there_o be_v nothing_o want_v in_o he_o but_o that_o which_o be_v altogether_o example_n if_o a_o man_n have_v the_o testimony_n of_o his_o own_o conscience_n witness_v unto_o he_o in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n that_o he_o have_v for_o any_o space_n of_o time_n walk_v before_o god_n with_o all_o faithfulness_n and_o uprightness_n of_o heart_n without_o hypocrisy_n this_o doubtless_o be_v a_o sufficient_a and_o lawful_a foundation_n whereon_o to_o raise_v a_o hope_n and_o dependence_n upon_o god_n for_o salvation_n i_o mean_v for_o salvation_n by_o christ_n and_o for_o his_o sake_n not_o for_o the_o testimony_n sake_n nor_o faithfulness_n sake_n or_o the_o like_a be_v safe_o depend_v upon_o for_o whatsoever_o he_o promise_v according_a to_o the_o term_n and_o condition_n of_o his_o promise_n so_o for_o the_o same_o reason_n if_o a_o man_n true_o love_v god_n or_o the_o brethren_n as_o the_o scripture_n speak_v he_o may_v hereupon_o lawful_o and_o safe_o depend_v upon_o god_n for_o salvation_n because_o god_n have_v establish_v both_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o for_o sign_n thereof_o 31._o again_o if_o i_o depend_v upon_o god_n for_o salvation_n upon_o this_o ground_n because_o i_o be_o very_o persuade_v that_o god_n will_v save_v i_o in_o the_o main_a body_n itself_o as_o for_o example_n he_o can_v hardly_o believe_v that_o either_o the_o testimony_n of_o his_o conscience_n witness_v unto_o he_o his_o faithful_a and_o upright_o walk_v before_o god_n or_o that_o his_o love_n of_o god_n and_o of_o the_o brethrren_a or_o that_o a_o persuasion_n of_o his_o own_o salvation_n by_o christ_n in_o particular_a or_o the_o like_a can_v be_v any_o sufficient_a ground_n for_o he_o to_o depend_v upon_o god_n for_o salvation_n except_o he_o first_o believe_v &_o be_v establish_v in_o this_o main_a truth_n that_o god_n for_o his_o son_n quiet_a and_o compose_a hope_n of_o salvation_n and_o even_o of_o those_o that_o seem_v to_o build_v with_o most_o peace_n and_o confidence_n this_o way_n be_v there_o not_o some_o suspect_v and_o that_o happy_o not_o without_o just_a cause_n by_o other_o and_o the_o reason_n why_o these_o and_o such_o like_a ground_n of_o hope_n and_o depend_v upon_o god_n be_v so_o tickle_a &_o slippery_a so_o obnoxious_a to_o jealousy_n doubt_n and_o fear_n be_v because_o though_o the_o rule_n be_v as_o certain_o true_a here_o as_o in_o the_o other_o it_o be_v every_o whit_n as_o true_a that_o he_o
