which_o be_v fit_a for_o the_o dunghill_n be_v not_o seemly_a for_o a_o cabinet_n iii_o be_v youth_n full_a of_o lively_a and_o stir_a affection_n what_o be_v more_o seemly_a than_o for_o the_o quick_a affection_n and_o for_o the_o most_o lively_a motion_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o spirit_n to_o be_v exercise_v about_o heavenly_a and_o spiritual_a thing_n the_o world_n be_v say_v to_o be_v 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d because_o of_o its_o comeliness_n which_o god_n give_v it_o in_o the_o creation_n now_o god_n have_v thus_o order_v the_o world_n in_o its_o several_a part_n that_o the_o quick_a and_o nimble_a shall_v be_v high_a in_o their_o rank_n and_o the_o slow_a and_o dull_a shall_v be_v low_a so_o the_o heaven_n which_o be_v of_o a_o most_o strange_a and_o wonderful_a swiftness_n be_v high_a and_o of_o other_o thing_n the_o quick_a in_o motion_n be_v near_a heaven_n so_o the_o air_n and_o in_o the_o air_n the_o bird_n whereas_o the_o earth_n be_v slow_a and_o without_o motion_n lie_v below_o all_o the_o rest_n and_o be_v far_a from_o heaven_n so_o what_o be_v more_o seemly_a than_o for_o those_o wing_a affection_n of_o young_a man_n and_o woman_n to_o mount_v up_o to_o heaven_n and_o the_o quick_a and_o swift_a they_o be_v in_o their_o motion_n the_o high_a it_o become_v they_o to_o fly_v what_o shall_v they_o do_v creep_v on_o the_o earth_n like_o snail_n or_o earthing_n themselves_o in_o the_o earth_n like_o mole_n or_o mud_v these_o lively_a affection_n in_o sinful_a fleshly_a pleasure_n why_o rather_o shall_v they_o not_o in_o their_o day_n of_o youth_n cast_v their_o soul_n upon_o the_o wing_n earnest_o desire_v god_n to_o draw_v they_o that_o they_o may_v run_v after_o he_o be_v it_o a_o seemly_a thing_n to_o see_v a_o lark_n or_o a_o eagle_n to_o make_v herself_o a_o burrow_n or_o nest_n under_o ground_n or_o to_o plunge_v herself_o in_o the_o mud_n no_o it_o become_v she_o to_o be_v aloft_o so_o it_o become_v not_o the_o wing_a affection_n of_o the_o young_a sort_n to_o bemudd_n themselves_o with_o sinful_a pleasure_n but_o to_o be_v lift_v up_o in_o the_o power_n of_o god_n spirit_n and_o to_o converse_v with_o he_o who_o be_v invisible_a the_o dullness_n of_o age_n have_v more_o affinity_n with_o earth_n than_o the_o vigour_n of_o youth_n which_o yet_o must_v not_o persuade_v old_a man_n to_o follow_v the_o inclination_n of_o age_n and_o because_o their_o back_n be_v bow_v with_o year_n to_o think_v themselves_o warrant_v to_o debase_v their_o soul_n to_o earthly_a affection_n but_o rather_o to_o conceive_v themselves_o direct_v to_o look_v themselves_o out_o a_o bury_a place_n enter_v into_o a_o serious_a meditation_n of_o the_o grave_a while_o their_o body_n by_o the_o decay_v of_o age_n be_v daily_o prepare_v for_o their_o last_o dissolution_n into_o those_o first_o earthly_a principle_n of_o which_o they_o be_v compound_v iu._n and_o as_o the_o quickness_n of_o young_a man_n affection_n shall_v thus_o set_v they_o in_o a_o course_n of_o holiness_n so_o the_o quickness_n of_o their_o spirit_n which_o be_v one_o cause_n of_o the_o quickness_n of_o their_o affection_n do_v exceed_v well_o suit_n with_o true_a grace_n and_o holiness_n the_o activity_n and_o as_o the_o country-word_n be_v the_o mettle_n that_o be_v in_o the_o young_a sort_n be_v very_o suitable_a to_o a_o holy_a conversation_n this_o be_v one_o thing_n which_o make_v many_o man_n false_o to_o think_v that_o religion_n be_v not_o seemly_a for_o youth_n but_o these_o be_v such_o as_o know_v not_o the_o power_n of_o godliness_n and_o therefore_o think_v it_o to_o be_v a_o lumpish_a dull_v thing_n but_o what_o blindness_n be_v this_o to_o imagine_v that_o the_o bless_a spirit_n of_o god_n be_v a_o dull_a to_o the_o spirit_n of_o a_o man_n when_o he_o work_v upon_o it_o by_o his_o sanctify_a power_n and_o virtue_n no_o it_o be_v enough_o indeed_o to_o put_v life_n into_o a_o dead_a heart_n when_o the_o bless_a spirit_n afford_v his_o gracious_a influence_n unto_o it_o if_o the_o sun_n do_v dull_a and_o dead_a the_o earth_n the_o tree_n the_o herb_n in_o the_o springtime_n then_o may_v you_o imagine_v that_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n do_v dull_a the_o spirit_n of_o man_n by_o sanctify_v and_o quicken_a they_o it_o take_v away_o indeed_o their_o wildness_n and_o madness_n that_o be_v to_o say_v their_o untowardness_n unseemliness_n and_o uncomeliness_n but_o it_o rather_o increase_v and_o purify_v their_o kindly_a vigour_n and_o give_v they_o yet_o a_o great_a and_o a_o high_a life_n and_o make_v they_o more_o lively_a than_o before_o but_o with_o a_o sweet_a spiritual_a and_o heavenly_a kind_n of_o life_n it_o be_v true_a that_o in_o the_o beginning_n of_o grace_n there_o be_v some_o droop_a and_o dejectedness_n but_o that_o be_v but_o in_o the_o turn_n when_o they_o be_v come_v out_o of_o their_o natural_a estate_n from_o under_o the_o curse_n and_o wrath_n of_o god_n but_o if_o once_o they_o be_v indeed_o set_v in_o a_o course_n of_o holiness_n and_o find_v the_o comfort_n of_o god_n love_n in_o christ_n they_o shall_v find_v themselves_o more_o enliven_v and_o quicken_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n than_o they_o can_v be_v by_o nature_n only_o where_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v there_o be_v liberty_n say_v the_o apostle_n the_o spirit_n of_o and_o therefore_o desire_v to_o be_v more_o and_o more_o quicken_v by_o it_o and_o how_o can_v the_o vigour_n and_o quickness_n of_o youth_n be_v better_o employ_v than_o in_o the_o work_n and_o service_n of_o god_n be_v not_o the_o service_n of_o god_n a_o race_n and_o who_o be_v so_o fit_a to_o run_v as_o those_o who_o be_v young_a and_o of_o nimble_a spirit_n let_v we_o run_v with_o unseemly_a which_o will_v be_v his_o great_a ornament_n and_o go_v about_o to_o deck_v himself_o with_o such_o thing_n as_o do_v but_o lay_v open_a his_o nakedness_n and_o discover_v his_o shame_n the_o apostle_n say_v that_o long_a hair_n which_o be_v a_o woman_n ornament_n be_v a_o man_n shame_n if_o a_o man_n wear_v long_a hair_n it_o be_v folly_n and_o shame_n to_o he_o 1_o cor._n 11._o and_o yet_o many_o man_n account_v this_o a_o special_a ornament_n whereas_o indeed_o it_o do_v as_o ill_o become_v they_o as_o a_o distaff_n do_v almost_o as_o ill_o as_o a_o woman_n garment_n thus_o it_o be_v in_o many_o other_o thing_n disguise_a fashion_n etc._n etc._n but_o beside_o these_o there_o seem_v to_o be_v a_o conceit_n among_o man_n that_o a_o licentious_a liberty_n a_o unlimited_a looseness_n of_o conversation_n become_v the_o young_a sort_n in_o the_o day_n of_o their_o youth_n and_o that_o nothing_o be_v more_o unseemly_a for_o that_o age_n than_o a_o humble_a holy_a subjection_n and_o obedience_n to_o the_o gospel_n of_o jesus_n christ._n but_o here_o you_o see_v the_o wise_a man_n who_o be_v a_o man_n that_o do_v much_o affect_v decorum_n whilst_o he_o continue_v in_o his_o integrity_n as_o appear_v by_o that_o which_o the_o queen_n of_o sheba_n observe_v even_o to_o a_o ecstasy_n i_o king_n 10._o 4_o 5._o and_o when_o the_o queen_n of_o sheba_n have_v see_v all_o solomon_n be_v wisdom_n and_o the_o house_n that_o he_o have_v build_v and_o the_o meat_n of_o his_o table_n and_o the_o sit_v of_o his_o servant_n and_o the_o attendance_n of_o plain_a here_o by_o the_o opposition_n that_o be_v make_v between_o the_o day_n of_o youth_n and_o old_a age_n that_o he_o commend_v it_o to_o they_o in_o special_a as_o a_o thing_n exceed_v fit_a and_o seemly_a for_o the_o young_a sort_n remember_v thy_o creator_n in_o the_o day_n of_o thy_o youth_n whilst_o the_o evil_a day_n come_v not_o as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v it_o be_v a_o most_o absurd_a and_o unseemly_a thing_n not_o to_o be_v true_o mindful_a of_o he_o that_o make_v we_o in_o our_o best_a day_n but_o then_o to_o begin_v when_o the_o evil_a day_n come_v and_o if_o you_o mark_v it_o be_v plain_a by_o those_o passage_n that_o follow_v that_o he_o still_o fasten_v a_o notorious_a absurdity_n and_o unseemliness_n upon_o this_o carriage_n of_o man_n who_o defer_v till_o young_a man_n be_v the_o choice_a of_o man_n or_o shall_v be_v so_o and_o that_o youth_n be_v the_o principal_a and_o choice_a part_n of_o our_o life_n so_o some_o render_v these_o word_n in_o the_o day_n of_o thy_o youth_n in_o the_o day_n of_o thy_o choice_n the_o sense_n therefore_o you_o may_v take_v in_o these_o few_o word_n o_o you_o young_a man_n who_o be_v of_o all_o other_o exceed_v apt_a to_o forget_v he_o of_o who_o you_o ought_v to_o be_v most_o mindful_a let_v i_o persuade_v you_o to_o know_v to_o love_v to_o delight_v in_o to_o fear_v to_o remember_v to_o cleave_v unto_o all_o the_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o one_o single_a root_n of_o a_o spiritual_a and_o intellectual_a be_v do_v promiscuous_o translate_v the_o name_n of_o the_o one_o to_o the_o other_o and_o teach_v they_o that_o the_o word_n of_o heavenly_a wisdom_n the_o word_n of_o god_n lay_v up_o in_o the_o heart_n and_o show_v forth_o in_o the_o life_n will_v be_v their_o rich_a ornament_n let_v they_o know_v how_o well_o humility_n modesty_n temperance_n chastity_n sobriety_n holiness_n and_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n will_v become_v they_o let_v they_o not_o only_o be_v teach_v how_o good_a these_o thing_n be_v but_o how_o seasonable_a how_o fit_a they_o be_v how_o seemly_a for_o they_o at_o those_o year_n how_o necessary_a let_v they_o understand_v how_o ill_o it_o become_v they_o at_o this_o age_n to_o want_v these_o jewel_n and_o what_o deformity_n the_o contrary_a sin_n do_v put_v upon_o they_o as_o it_o become_v they_o of_o young_a year_n to_o be_v thus_o qualify_v so_o it_o become_v you_o that_o be_v elder_a by_o all_o mean_n both_o in_o word_n and_o conversation_n to_o show_v they_o what_o become_v they_o chap._n iu._n use_v 3_o if_o grace_n and_o holiness_n be_v comely_a ornament_n of_o youth_n then_o how_o unseemly_a be_v it_o for_o those_o that_o have_v pass_v the_o day_n of_o youth_n to_o continue_v yet_o without_o it_o have_v thou_o outlive_v thy_o
