general_a begin_v with_o the_o apostle_n saint_n paul_n in_o the_o three_o verse_n above_o who_o give_v this_o reason_n for_o this_o be_v good_a and_o acceptable_a in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n our_o saviour_n who_o will_v that_o all_o man_n shall_v be_v save_v and_o come_v to_o the_o acknowledge_v of_o the_o truth_n this_o reason_n contain_v two_o thing_n the_o one_o that_o this_o kind_n of_o prayer_n for_o mankind_n and_o for_o all_o man_n be_v please_v to_o god_n the_o other_o thing_n be_v a_o consequent_a thereof_o show_v that_o it_o be_v his_o will_n that_o all_o man_n shall_v be_v save_v and_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o therefore_o such_o a_o prayer_n be_v please_v unto_o god_n and_o agreeable_a unto_o his_o will_n the_o first_o part_n for_o this_o be_v good_a and_o acceptable_a in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n our_o saviour_n a_o good_a god_n be_v not_o please_v but_o with_o good_a thing_n he_o be_v please_v with_o this_o prayer_n this_o prayer_n sundry_a signification_n according_a as_o they_o may_v be_v take_v in_o divinity_n or_o according_a as_o in_o some_o sense_n and_o in_o some_o respect_n this_o way_n or_o that_o way_n they_o may_v be_v interpret_v but_o that_o be_v not_o much_o pertinent_a to_o this_o matter_n for_o the_o word_n be_v respective_a and_o be_v the_o chief_a clause_n and_o weight_n of_o the_o reason_n give_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n establish_v that_o prayer_n for_o the_o exhortation_n concern_v this_o rule_n of_o prayer_n consist_v of_o three_o part_n a_o proposition_n the_o end_n and_o effect_n and_o a_o reason_n the_o proposition_n let_v prayer_n be_v make_v for_o all_o man_n the_o end_n and_o effect_n that_o we_o may_v lead_v a_o quiet_a life_n in_o all_o godliness_n etc._n etc._n the_o reason_n thou_o will_v say_v why_o so_o and_o wherefore_o the_o holy_a ghost_n inform_v thou_o for_o that_o be_v good_a and_o acceptable_a in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n our_o saviour_n and_o he_o confirm_v that_o by_o his_o will_n who_o will_v have_v all_o man_n to_o be_v save_v and_o to_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o truth_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v therefore_o be_v it_o good_a and_o acceptable_a in_o his_o sight_n because_o he_o will_v have_v no_o man_n cast_v away_o but_o be_v save_v because_o he_o will_v have_v no_o man_n ignorant_a of_o he_o but_o all_o to_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o his_o truth_n he_o will_v not_o the_o death_n of_o a_o sinner_n but_o rather_o that_o he_o shall_v convert_v and_o live_v we_o need_v not_o be_v afraid_a to_o understand_v the_o apostle_n word_n i_o doubt_v not_o but_o the_o apostle_n know_v what_o he_o write_v for_o he_o have_v a_o good_a teacher_n let_v we_o therefore_o take_v they_o according_a to_o the_o mind_n of_o the_o teacher_n and_o since_o his_o mercy_n stretch_v unto_o all_o man_n let_v we_o hope_v and_o pray_v that_o we_o may_v be_v of_o that_o number_n that_o may_v receive_v and_o enjoy_v such_o his_o mercy_n lay_v up_o in_o store_n for_o they_o that_o love_v he_o but_o lest_o i_o may_v seem_v to_o speak_v some_o unnecessary_a thing_n let_v i_o show_v by_o other_o place_n of_o scripture_n my_o further_a meaning_n and_o whether_o the_o reason_n of_o any_o doctrine_n or_o scripture_n be_v so_o necessary_a or_o no_o or_o whether_o i_o have_v speak_v clean_o from_o the_o purpose_n first_o then_o we_o read_v in_o s._n matthew_n 1.21_o while_o thought_n do_v arise_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o joseph_n it_o be_v say_v unto_o he_o of_o the_o angel_n fear_v not_o to_o take_v to_o thou_o marry_o thy_o
