great_a a_o power_n unto_o we_o whereby_o all_o our_o sin_n be_v forgive_v we_o and_o abolish_v quite_o out_o of_o remembrance_n death_n satan_n and_o hell_n be_v utterlie_o vanquish_v and_o swallow_v up_o whereby_o we_o possess_v our_o conscience_n without_o fear_n and_o have_v our_o heart_n joyful_a merry_a and_o bold_a without_o be_v afraid_a of_o any_o thing_n all_o which_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n that_o call_v we_o do_v afford_v and_o bring_v unto_o us._n unto_o glory_n and_o virtue_n and_o after_o what_o sort_n be_v that_o call_v wherewith_o god_n call_v we_o forsooth_o this_o god_n send_v his_o holy_a gospel_n into_o the_o world_n and_o cause_v the_o same_o to_o be_v proclaim_v and_o preach_v abroad_o for_o the_o which_o no_o man_n ever_o make_v any_o labour_n no_o man_n ever_o pray_v or_o make_v any_o entreaty_n to_o he_o but_o before_o any_o one_o so_o much_o as_o once_o think_v of_o it_o he_o offer_v and_o give_v this_o grace_n unto_o we_o and_o pour_v the_o same_o most_o abundant_o upon_o we_o all_o that_o he_o alone_o may_v have_v all_o the_o glory_n and_o praise_n and_o we_o enjoy_v such_o a_o benefit_n shall_v ascribe_v this_o power_n and_o virtue_n all_o only_a to_o he_o for_o it_o be_v no_o work_n of_o our_o own_o but_o he_o and_o therefore_o see_v that_o this_o call_v be_v none_o of_o our_o own_o neither_o come_v of_o ourselves_o it_o be_v not_o against_o satan_n death_n hell_n and_o all_o mischief_n at_o once_o whatsoever_o whereby_o most_o great_a and_o precious_a promise_n be_v give_v unto_o we_o saint_n peter_n have_v add_v this_o to_o show_v forth_o and_o declare_v the_o nature_n and_o force_n of_o faith_n for_o when_o we_o know_v god_n to_o be_v we_o we_o have_v also_o with_o he_o by_o faith_n eternal_a life_n and_o the_o power_n of_o god_n whereby_o we_o overcome_v and_o get_v the_o victory_n both_o of_o death_n and_o devil_n and_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o we_o do_v not_o see_v these_o thing_n neither_o yet_o feel_v we_o they_o although_o all_o thing_n be_v promise_v unto_o us._n we_o have_v all_o thing_n but_o they_o yet_o appear_v not_o but_o in_o the_o last_o day_n we_o shall_v plain_o discover_v and_o see_v all_o thing_n present_a and_o apparent_o lay_v open_a unto_o our_o eye_n we_o begin_v here_o in_o this_o world_n but_o we_o come_v not_o to_o any_o full_a fruition_n or_o perfection_n thereof_o in_o this_o life_n but_o we_o have_v this_o promise_n that_o we_o live_v here_o by_o the_o mighty_a power_n of_o god_n and_o that_o after_o this_o life_n we_o be_v everlasting_o bless_v he_o that_o faithful_o believe_v these_o thing_n have_v the_o some_o as_o it_o be_v already_o in_o possession_n he_o that_o believe_v not_o have_v they_o not_o but_o be_v sure_a to_o perish_v eternal_o how_o great_a and_o how_o precious_a these_o promise_n be_v saint_n peter_n further_a yet_o declare_v say_v that_o by_o they_o you_o shall_v be_v partaker_n of_o the_o godly_a nature_n in_o that_o you_o flee_v the_o corruption_n which_o be_v in_o the_o world_n through_o lust_n this_o benefit_n we_o have_v by_o the_o power_n of_o faith_n that_o we_o thereby_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o god_n and_o come_v into_o a_o certain_a participation_n and_o communion_n of_o his_o divine_a nature_n this_o be_v such_o a_o sentence_n as_o the_o like_o you_o shall_v not_o read_v again_o neither_o in_o the_o old_a testament_n nor_o yet_o in_o the_o new_a howbeit_o among_o the_o painim_n and_o heathen_a writer_n it_o be_v often_o read_v that_o we_o partake_v with_o the_o very_a divine_a nature_n itself_o but_o what_o be_v this_o nature_n of_o god_n everlasting_a truth_n righteousness_n justice_n wisdom_n eternal_a life_n peace_n joy_n pleasure_n and_o all_o goodness_n that_o can_v be_v name_v he_o now_o that_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n be_v seize_v and_o privilege_v in_o all_o these_o to_o wit_n that_o he_o shall_v live_v for_o ever_o enjoy_v perpetual_a and_o endless_a peace_n pleasure_n joy_n and_o mirth_n be_v pure_a holy_a just_a and_o able_a to_o withstand_v and_o supplant_v satan_n sin_n &_o death_n peter_n word_n therefore_o sound_o as_o though_o he_o shall_v say_v thus_o look_v how_o unpossible_a it_o be_v to_o take_v from_o god_n everlasting_a life_n and_o eternal_a truth_n so_o impossible_a be_v it_o also_o that_o these_o thing_n shall_v be_v take_v from_o you_o if_o any_o man_n hurt_v you_o he_o must_v needs_o also_o hurt_v god_n for_o he_o must_v first_o oppress_v god_n that_o seek_v to_o oppress_v a_o right_a christian_n all_o these_o property_n be_v singular_a benefit_n if_o we_o faithful_o believe_v the_o verity_n of_o they_o but_o all_o that_o be_v here_o set_v down_o be_v as_o afore_o be_v declare_v doctrine_n whereupon_o the_o groundwork_n of_o our_o faith_n be_v lay_v for_o that_o which_o here_o be_v write_v be_v rather_o to_o declare_v and_o show_v what_o great_a and_o excellent_a benefit_n grow_v unto_o we_o through_o

wherein_o god_n himself_o will_v dwell_v for_o he_o not_o only_o dwell_v in_o the_o heaven_n but_o every_o where_o and_o therefore_o where_o he_o be_v there_o shall_v the_o elect_v also_o be_v wherefore_o belove_a see_v that_o you_o look_v for_o such_o thing_n be_v diligent_a that_o you_o may_v be_v find_v of_o he_o in_o peace_n without_o spot_n and_o blameless_a forsomuche_o say_v he_o doctrine_n contain_v in_o s._n paul_n epistle_n which_o proove_v that_o this_o epistle_n be_v write_v long_o after_o the_o epistle_n of_o paul_n and_o this_o be_v one_o of_o those_o place_n whereby_o a_o man_n may_v take_v occasion_n to_o think_v that_o this_o epistle_n be_v not_o write_v by_o s._n peter_n as_o also_o a_o other_o sentence_n a_o little_a afore_o in_o this_o present_a chapter_n express_v do_v insinuate_v and_o purporte_n where_o he_o say_v that_o god_n will_v have_v no_o man_n to_o perish_v but_o will_v all_o man_n to_o come_v to_o repentance_n for_o it_o seem_v to_o savour_n of_o a_o low_a spirit_n and_o to_o carry_v a_o mean_a grace_n then_o to_o one_o inspire_v with_o a_o apostolical_a spirit_n be_v usual_a yet_o be_v it_o not_o altogether_o incredible_a nor_o amiss_o to_o think_v this_o epistle_n to_o be_v write_v by_o peter_n for_o see_v that_o in_o this_o epistle_n his_o purpose_n and_o meaning_n be_v not_o to_o write_v of_o faith_n but_o of_o love_n and_o charity_n be_v purposely_o abaze_v himself_o in_o his_o style_n as_o the_o nature_n of_o charity_n always_o be_v to_o do_v to_o the_o intent_n thereby_o to_o humble_v himself_o to_o his_o neighbour_n as_o on_o the_o other_o part_n faith_n always_o mount_v and_o lift_v up_o itself_o to_o godward_o and_o this_o 〈◊〉_d he_o well_o see_v will_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o many_o light_n and_o unstable_a spirit_n will_v wrest_v and_o wring_v invert_v and_o pervert_v s._n paul_n word_n in_o sundry_a place_n for_o that_o in_o his_o epistle_n there_o be_v some_o text_n hard_a to_o be_v understand_v as_o where_o he_o say_v that_o no_o man_n be_v justify_v by_o work_n but_o by_o faith_n only_o rom._n iij._n again_o that_o the_o law_n be_v give_v to_o know_v sinne._n rom._n iiij_o &_o seven_o and_o moreover_o where_o sin_n abound_v there_o grace_v abound_v much_o more_o rom._n v._n and_o such_o like_a place_n for_o assoon_o as_o they_o hear_v this_o they_o straight_o way_n break_v out_o into_o these_o or_o y_z e_z like_o speech_n ●f_o it_o be_v thus_o we_o will_v live_v ydlie_a and_o merry_o we_o will_v do_v to_o good_a work_n at_o all_o and_o yet_o shall_v we_o nevertheless_o be_v save_v and_o justify_v and_o after_o this_o sort_n even_o nowadays_o do_v they_o ●aise_v on_o we_o and_o shameful_o help_v we_o fai_v that_o we_o in_o our_o sermon_n condemn_v and_o dispraise_v good_a work_n but_o we_o may_v not_o think_v it_o any_o marvel_n or_o strange_a thing_n see_v they_o have_v not_o spare_v to_o wrest_v and_o misconstrue_v s._n paul_n word_n you_o therefore_o belove_v sing_v you_o know_v these_o thing_n before_o beware_v lest_o you_o be_v also_o pluck_v away_o with_o the_o error_n of_o the_o wicked_a and_o fall_v from_o your_o own_o steadfastness_n but_o grow_v in_o grace_n and_o in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o our_o lord_n and_o saviour_n jesus_n christ_n to_o he_o be_v glory_n both_o now_o and_o for_o evermore_o amen_n sing_v therefore_o you_o perfect_o know_v all_o these_o thing_n afore_o declare_v and_o be_v certain_o give_v to_o understande_v that_o many_o false_a teacher_n be_v chap_v and_o foist_v in_o among_o you_o to_o seduce_v the_o world_n and_o many_o froward_a mocker_n shall_v wilful_o mistake_v and_o wrest_v the_o scripture_n not_o be_v willing_a to_o understande_v they_o aright_o it_o great_o stand_v you_o upon_o to_o take_v good_a heed_n rather_o that_o you_o daily_a increase_n in_o godliness_n and_o knowledge_n that_o from_o day_n to_o day_n through_o continual_a preach_n and_o exercise_n of_o the_o worde_n of_o god_n you_o may_v be_v more_o and_o more_o confirm_v and_o strengthenes_n and_o here_o we_o be_v to_o behold_v and_o note_v the_o great_a care_n that_o the_o apostle_n have_v over_o they_o which_o have_v now_o receive_v the_o faith_n which_o cause_v he_o to_o write_v unto_o they_o these_o two_o epistle_n wherein_o be_v large_o and_o plentiful_o lay_v down_o all_o and_o whatsoever_o be_v expedient_a and_o necessary_a for_o a_o christian_a man_n to_o know_v yea_o concern_v those_o thing_n also_o which_o be_v to_o come_v god_n grant_v unto_o we_o his_o grace_n that_o we_o may_v both_o right_o understand_v also_o effectual_o keep_v and_o observe_v the_o same_o to_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o holy_a and_o bless_a name_n and_o to_o the_o comfort_n and_o consolation_n of_o our_o own_o soul_n
