these_o law_n that_o command_v nothing_o but_o just_a thing_n so_o that_o he_o will_v have_v the_o nature_n of_o man_n to_o lead_v a_o joyful_a life_n and_o by_o this_o mean_n be_v preserve_v that_o he_o may_v solace_v himself_o in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n his_o creator_n and_o in_o obey_v he_o settle_v and_o rest_v himself_o in_o he_o as_o contrariwise_o it_o please_v he_o to_o place_n there_o a_o affection_n of_o sadness_n to_o take_v vengeance_n of_o rebellion_n against_o his_o law_n and_o of_o the_o transgression_n of_o they_o to_o the_o end_n there_o may_v be_v a_o flame_n of_o anger_n and_o grief_n to_o destroy_v that_o nature_n when_o it_o do_v not_o conform_v itself_o to_o the_o rule_n of_o his_o divine_a wisdom_n and_o will_n hereby_o we_o know_v by_o experience_n what_o difference_n there_o be_v between_o a_o joyful_a life_n and_o that_o which_o be_v sad_a &_o full_a of_o grief_n and_o how_o joy_n preserve_v and_o maintain_v the_o one_o and_o sorrow_n consume_v and_o extinguish_v the_o other_o but_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v full_o understand_v these_o thing_n and_o be_v able_a to_o judge_v aright_o of_o the_o diverse_a power_n virtue_n and_o office_n of_o the_o soul_n we_o must_v diligent_o consider_v that_o as_o god_n have_v distinguish_v the_o understanding_n from_o the_o will_n and_o affection_n and_o the_o animal_n virtue_n and_o life_n from_o the_o vital_a so_o also_o he_o have_v give_v they_o diverse_a seat_n and_o instrument_n in_o the_o body_n affection_n there_o be_v likewise_o great_a difference_n betwixt_o understanding_n and_o knowledge_n and_o the_o will_n and_o affection_n as_o we_o see_v it_o by_o experience_n in_o common_a life_n for_o it_o fall_v out_o often_o that_o after_o we_o know_v a_o man_n we_o either_o love_v he_o or_o hate_v he_o and_o if_o at_o the_o first_o we_o love_v he_o well_o yet_o after_o he_o be_v know_v unto_o we_o we_o may_v fall_v to_o hate_v he_o or_o if_o we_o first_o hate_v he_o afterward_o upon_o better_a knowledge_n we_o may_v receive_v he_o into_o our_o love_n now_o although_o these_o affection_n of_o love_n and_o of_o hatred_n be_v thus_o mutable_a in_o we_o yet_o the_o self_n same_o knowledge_n remain_v always_o with_o us._n for_o if_o we_o do_v not_o still_o know_v he_o we_o can_v neither_o love_v nor_o hate_v he_o because_o as_o a_o man_n can_v love_v without_o know_v the_o thing_n love_v so_o he_o can_v hate_v that_o which_o be_v unknowen_a therefore_o it_o be_v no_o difficult_a matter_n to_o judge_v that_o the_o understanding_n differ_v from_o the_o will_n and_o affection_n and_o that_o they_o be_v distinct_a office_n and_o several_a property_n and_o virtue_n of_o the_o soul_n which_o have_v also_o their_o diverse_a seat_n and_o instrument_n for_o the_o internal_a sense_n be_v join_v with_o that_o power_n which_o the_o soul_n have_v to_o know_v and_o the_o heart_n with_o the_o power_n of_o the_o will_n and_o affection_n hereof_o it_o be_v that_o we_o see_v many_o endue_v with_o great_a knowledge_n of_o honest_a and_o virtuous_a thing_n but_o they_o have_v no_o good_a affection_n to_o follow_v after_o they_o and_o to_o put_v they_o in_o practice_n brain_n so_o that_o their_o heart_n agree_v not_o with_o their_o brain_n nor_o their_o will_n and_o affection_n with_o their_o understanding_n &_o reason_n contrariwise_o there_o be_v other_o that_o have_v not_o so_o great_a knowledge_n of_o goodness_n and_o of_o their_o duty_n and_o yet_o they_o have_v a_o good_a affection_n and_o will_n to_o do_v well_o but_o for_o want_v of_o understanding_n what_o be_v right_a and_o just_a they_o observe_v and_o keep_v it_o not_o according_a to_o that_o measure_n of_o desire_n which_o be_v in_o they_o where_o we_o see_v again_o how_o and_o in_o what_o sort_n there_o be_v no_o good_a agreement_n between_o the_o brain_n and_o the_o heart_n and_o between_o those_o power_n and_o virtue_n of_o the_o soul_n which_o we_o have_v already_o name_v comparison_n so_o that_o we_o may_v compare_v the_o former_a sort_n of_o man_n to_o one_o that_o have_v eye_n to_o guide_v he_o but_o no_o leg_n or_o foot_n to_o go_v upon_o or_o if_o he_o have_v any_o yet_o he_o will_v not_o set_v they_o on_o work_n as_o for_o the_o other_o sort_n they_o be_v like_a to_o blind_a man_n that_o long_o to_o go_v and_o to_o walk_v and_o have_v leg_n to_o carry_v they_o but_o they_o can_v go_v whither_o they_o will_v because_o they_o have_v neither_o eye_n nor_o sight_n to_o direct_v they_o nor_o guide_v to_o lead_v they_o now_o by_o the_o consideration_n of_o these_o two_o sort_n of_o man_n we_o may_v well_o conclude_v and_o judge_v with_o ourselves_o what_o they_o be_v that_o want_v all_o these_o thing_n mention_v by_o we_o because_o they_o have_v neither_o sound_n knowledge_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o of_o that_o which_o be_v good_a nor_o will_v and_o desire_v to_o have_v any_o nor_o any_o affection_n to_o follow_v that_o which_o be_v good_a who_o i_o will_v compare_v to_o they_o that_o be_v blind_a and_o withal_o have_v both_o hand_n and_o foot_n lame_a at_o one_o time_n but_o this_o matter_n may_v yet_o be_v understand_v better_o if_o we_o make_v this_o our_o speech_n to_o agree_v with_o that_o which_o saint_n paul_n write_v to_o the_o roman_n 18._o where_o he_o say_v that_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v reveal_v from_o heaven_n against_o all_o ungodliness_n and_o unrighteousness_n of_o man_n which_o withhold_v the_o truth_n in_o unrighteousness_n for_o we_o may_v understande_v by_o truth_n those_o true_a and_o natural_a impression_n of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o of_o his_o law_n and_o of_o good_a and_o honest_a thing_n which_o be_v in_o man_n as_o beam_n of_o the_o divine_a wisdom_n shine_v in_o that_o part_n of_o the_o soul_n whereby_o he_o know_v but_o because_o the_o will_n and_o the_o affection_n of_o the_o heart_n agree_v not_o with_o this_o knowledge_n and_o there_o be_v no_o divine_a motion_n nor_o celestial_a flame_n to_o stir_v up_o and_o to_o kindle_v the_o heart_n with_o the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o to_o procure_v it_o to_o follow_v after_o that_o knowledge_n therefore_o man_n be_v detain_v in_o unrighteousness_n and_o yield_v not_o unto_o god_n that_o honour_n and_o obedience_n that_o they_o owe_v unto_o he_o wherein_o they_o show_v themselves_o unthankful_a and_o unrighteous_a attribute_v these_o sovereign_a power_n of_o the_o soul_n only_o to_o the_o brain_n which_o they_o make_v the_o seat_n of_o they_o as_o we_o have_v sufficient_o show_v heretofore_o and_o as_o for_o the_o affection_n of_o the_o soul_n they_o assign_v the_o seat_n of_o they_o to_o the_o heart_n now_o one_o body_n have_v not_o two_o but_o one_o soul_n therefore_o although_o it_o have_v many_o faculty_n power_n virtue_n and_o office_n yet_o they_o be_v all_o comprehend_v under_o those_o two_o and_o depend_v of_o they_o even_o as_o in_o one_o body_n there_o be_v many_o member_n appoint_v to_o diverse_a operation_n now_o because_o reason_n ought_v to_o be_v the_o governess_n and_o mistress_n
agreement_n may_v soon_o be_v make_v if_o the_o word_n of_o god_n only_o may_v be_v the_o judge_n of_o true_a &_o false_a religion_n for_o all_o that_o fear_n god_n and_o be_v careful_a to_o do_v nothing_o contrary_a to_o their_o duty_n that_o account_n the_o holy_a scripture_n to_o be_v the_o true_a doctrine_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o be_v assure_o persuade_v that_o there_o be_v another_o life_n after_o this_o and_o a_o judge_n before_o who_o they_o must_v appear_v they_o i_o say_v be_v not_o so_o hardly_o induce_v to_o peace_n and_o concord_n but_o that_o a_o man_n may_v hope_v well_o of_o they_o but_o they_o that_o fear_v nothing_o that_o call_v all_o thing_n into_o question_n that_o esteem_v all_o religion_n to_o be_v opinion_n only_o torment_v man_n brain_n they_o likewise_o that_o stiff_o resist_v even_o the_o truth_n itself_o whereof_o their_o own_o conscience_n convince_v they_o labour_v as_o much_o as_o lie_v in_o they_o to_o extinguish_v not_o only_o the_o they_o be_v call_v blind_a in_o holy_a scripture_n that_o have_v not_o the_o true_a knowledge_n of_o god_n by_o the_o light_n of_o his_o word_n for_o although_o they_o that_o be_v most_o ignorant_a have_v some_o little_a knowledge_n and_o sense_n of_o the_o divinity_n by_o that_o small_a remnant_n of_o natural_a light_n which_o man_n receive_v at_o his_o first_o creation_n nevertheless_o because_o this_o sparkle_n be_v so_o small_a in_o regard_n of_o that_o darkness_n which_o fill_v the_o mind_n of_o man_n it_o be_v not_o sufficient_a to_o lead_v they_o to_o god_n and_o to_o the_o right_a way_n of_o salvation_n therefore_o they_o soon_o go_v astray_o and_o wander_v hither_o and_o thither_o and_o for_o the_o most_o part_n follow_v superstition_n in_o place_n of_o religion_n small_a there_o need_v no_o great_a trouble_v of_o the_o spirit_n neither_o any_o great_a impediment_n to_o be_v cast_v in_o his_o way_n to_o confound_v and_o amaze_v he_o and_o to_o take_v away_o by_o prudence_n or_o by_o the_o folly_n of_o man_n according_a as_o matter_n fall_v out_o i_o quake_v to_o think_v that_o such_o monster_n be_v to_o be_v find_v among_o they_o that_o berare_fw-la the_o name_n of_o christian_n and_o have_v in_o former_a time_n receive_v the_o mark_n and_o seal_n of_o christianity_n in_o the_o church_n of_o jesus_n christ_n but_o my_o quake_a be_v double_v when_o i_o consider_v that_o many_o of_o they_o that_o profess_v learning_n and_o humane_a philosophy_n and_o that_o be_v think_v to_o have_v most_o skilful_a sharp_a and_o subtle_a wit_n be_v not_o only_o infect_v with_o this_o execrable_a atheism_n but_o profess_v it_o open_v a_o school_n thereof_o and_o know_v how_o to_o poison_v many_o with_o it_o for_o as_o there_o be_v never_o yet_o opinion_n error_n or_o heresy_n so_o strange_a or_o monstrous_a in_o the_o world_n that_o have_v not_o always_o find_v man_n enough_o to_o receive_v it_o so_o long_o as_o there_o be_v author_n and_o master_n to_o set_v it_o abroach_o so_o these_o professor_n of_o atheism_n be_v never_o without_o great_a store_n of_o disciple_n because_o after_o this_o manner_n god_n punish_v the_o curiosity_n ingratitude_n and_o perverseness_n of_o man_n the_o contempt_n of_o his_o word_n and_o hatred_n of_o the_o truth_n which_o be_v common_o in_o they_o as_o also_o the_o pleasure_n they_o take_v in_o vanity_n and_o lie_n therefore_o god_n by_o his_o just_a judgement_n give_v they_o over_o into_o a_o reprobate_a sense_n so_o that_o they_o can_v but_o always_o reject_v the_o truth_n and_o embrace_v error_n and_o lie_v as_o he_o often_o threaten_v they_o by_o the_o mouth_n of_o his_o prophet_n and_o apostle_n 12._o example_n hereof_o we_o see_v daily_o in_o such_o as_o think_v themselves_o the_o wise_a man_n who_o have_v this_o in_o their_o cogitation_n if_o they_o dare_v not_o speak_v it_o open_o that_o it_o belong_v not_o to_o man_n of_o wit_n to_o believe_v in_o god_n and_o his_o word_n but_o to_o such_o as_o be_v simple_a and_o foolish_a not_o to_o these_o great_a and_o noble_a spirit_n that_o fly_v above_o the_o cloud_n who_o in_o truth_n know_v more_o than_o they_o shall_v to_o bring_v they_o to_o that_o place_n of_o weep_v and_o gnash_n of_o tooth_n we_o be_v to_o live_v my_o companion_n among_o such_o kind_n of_o man_n and_o i_o suppose_v that_o you_o as_o well_o as_o speech_n require_v as_o i_o think_v that_o we_o shall_v entreat_v of_o understanding_n and_o will_n which_o be_v two_o faculty_n and_o virtue_n in_o the_o high_a and_o most_o principal_a part_n and_o power_n of_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n and_o in_o regard_n of_o which_o it_o be_v proper_o call_v by_o the_o name_n of_o a_o reasonable_a soul_n and_o life_n as_o we_o shall_v present_o learn_v of_o achitob._n of_o the_o reasonable_a soul_n and_o life_n and_o of_o virtue_n of_o the_o understanding_n and_o will_n that_o be_v in_o the_o soul_n and_o of_o their_o dignity_n and_o excellency_n chap._n 28._o achitob._n although_o beast_n without_o any_o judgement_n and_o reason_n follow_v after_o that_o which_o they_o conceive_v to_o be_v agreeable_a to_o their_o nature_n and_o eschew_v the_o which_o be_v right_a and_o good_a be_v great_o deprave_a and_o corrupt_a nevertheless_o there_o remain_v in_o we_o a_o small_a remnant_n of_o that_o great_a good_a which_o testify_v sufficient_o unto_o we_o what_o loss_n and_o damage_n we_o receive_v by_o our_o fall_n therefore_o both_o the_o internal_a and_o external_a sense_n serve_v we_o not_o only_o for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o body_n and_o for_o this_o life_n as_o they_o do_v to_o beast_n but_o also_o for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o soul_n and_o help_v we_o to_o lift_v up_o the_o mind_n high_o to_o seek_v for_o a_o better_a life_n so_o transitory_a as_o these_o be_v which_o we_o use_v and_o enjoy_v in_o this_o life_n and_o in_o which_o it_o be_v whole_o busy_v much_o less_o for_o those_o whereby_o the_o life_n of_o beast_n be_v preserve_v but_o in_o regard_n of_o these_o thing_n which_o i_o have_v now_o declare_v therefore_o as_o god_n have_v not_o give_v such_o a_o life_n to_o stone_n as_o he_o have_v give_v to_o tree_n and_o plant_n beast_n nor_o yet_o sense_n imagination_n and_o fantasy_n to_o tree_n and_o plant_n as_o he_o have_v do_v to_o beast_n so_o he_o have_v not_o grant_v reason_n to_o beast_n as_o he_o have_v to_o man_n and_o that_o not_o without_o just_a cause_n for_o as_o it_o be_v enough_o for_o stone_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o perfection_n of_o their_o nature_n to_o be_v heavy_a and_o such_o as_o they_o be_v and_o sufficient_a likewise_o for_o tree_n and_o plant_n to_o have_v a_o vegetative_a soul_n see_v they_o want_v not_o that_o which_o beast_n have_v more_o than_o they_o so_o beast_n stand_v not_o in_o need_n of_o that_o which_o man_n have_v above_o they_o for_o it_o suffice_v for_o the_o preservation_n and_o defence_n of_o their_o life_n and_o be_v that_o they_o have_v some_o kind_n of_o cogitation_n join_v with_o imagination_n and_o fantasy_n although_o they_o want_v reason_n which_o be_v not_o necessary_a for_o they_o as_o it_o be_v for_o man_n for_o the_o cause_n already_o specify_v and_o chief_o because_o they_o be_v not_o create_v by_o mean_n of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o of_o true_a religion_n to_o come_v to_o a_o better_a life_n than_o their_o brutish_a life_n be_v be_v therefore_o as_o man_n be_v create_v to_o the_o end_n that_o the_o light_n of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n may_v shine_v in_o he_o and_o that_o god_n may_v communicate_v with_o he_o his_o wisdom_n and_o goodness_n so_o he_o will_v that_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n shall_v be_v a_o evident_a testimony_n of_o himself_o for_o this_o cause_n it_o be_v say_v in_o his_o creation_n that_o god_n make_v man_n after_o his_o own_o image_n and_o likeness_n as_o we_o have_v already_o hear_v see_v then_o there_o be_v in_o the_o reasonable_a soul_n so_o clear_a and_o excellent_a testimony_n of_o god_n and_o that_o by_o it_o especial_o the_o difference_n appear_v between_o man_n &_o beast_n as_o also_o in_o the_o diverse_a government_n of_o their_o life_n it_o behove_v we_o to_o conâ—ider_v thereof_o very_o diligent_o and_o albeit_o this_o glass_n of_o god_n can_v be_v so_o evident_o see_v as_o those_o that_o be_v make_v of_o steel_n or_o of_o glass_n and_o lead_v by_o the_o hand_n of_o man_n to_o represent_v the_o image_n of_o our_o body_n nevertheless_o the_o action_n and_o work_n of_o the_o soul_n do_v plain_o show_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o power_n and_o virtue_n in_o we_o which_o god_n have_v give_v we_o more_o to_o use_v for_o our_o benefit_n then_o to_o know_v it_o and_o that_o for_o the_o cause_n already_o touch_v by_o us._n perfect_o for_o the_o true_a and_o perfect_a knowledge_n thereof_o belong_v to_o god_n only_o who_o be_v above_o it_o have_v create_v and_o give_v it_o and_o will_v cause_v we_o to_o know_v it_o better_o when_o we_o shall_v be_v in_o that_o eternal_a light_n in_o which_o we_o shall_v know_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v now_o hide_v from_o us._n in_o the_o mean_a time_n let_v we_o in_o this_o life_n consider_v of_o and_o distinguish_v the_o action_n and_o work_n of_o the_o soul_n whereby_o we_o be_v sever_v from_o beast_n and_o which_o be_v very_o evident_a testimony_n of_o god_n in_o we_o govern_v the_o life_n of_o man_n and_o bring_v forth_o all_o honest_a science_n and_o art_n we_o have_v speak_v already_o of_o the_o power_n and_o virtue_n of_o the_o soul_n which_o by_o the_o use_n of_o corporal_a instrument_n labour_n and_o manifest_v themselves_o but_o it_o appear_v evident_o that_o there_o be_v in_o man_n another_o high_a power_n because_o we_o have_v many_o action_n and_o do_v many_o work_v can_v which_o beast_n can_v perform_v nor_o imitate_v for_o man_n have_v the_o knowledge_n of_o number_n and_o can_v reckon_v he_o understand_v not_o only_o particular_a thing_n but_o also_o general_a and_o universal_a thing_n he_o discourse_v that_o be_v gather_v and_o conclude_v one_o thing_n of_o another_o and_o that_o very_o far_o he_o invent_v art_n and_o dispose_v they_o he_o judge_v of_o his_o own_o reason_n and_o discourse_n and_o mark_v his_o own_o fault_n he_o correct_v they_o he_o change_v his_o intent_n and_o purpose_n he_o discern_v virtue_n from_o vice_n &_o honest_a thing_n from_o those_o that_o be_v dishonest_a final_o he_o deliberate_v by_o a_o long_a discourse_n of_o reason_n as_o for_o beast_n they_o have_v not_o these_o thing_n common_a with_o we_o as_o they_o have_v the_o use_n of_o the_o sense_n as_o of_o see_v hear_v smell_a taste_v and_o other_o such_o like_a thing_n wherein_o they_o oftentimes_o excel_v we_o in_o many_o respect_n for_o many_o of_o they_o have_v these_o sense_n more_o sharp_a than_o we_o have_v and_o although_o they_o have_v some_o imagination_n fantasy_n and_o apprehension_n of_o thing_n offer_v to_o their_o bodily_a sense_n yet_o that_o hold_v but_o for_o the_o present_a and_o in_o the_o place_n or_o field_n where_o the_o thing_n be_v offer_v unto_o they_o discourse_n the_o like_a may_v be_v say_v of_o those_o discourse_n of_o reason_n which_o many_o think_v be_v in_o
his_o judgement_n of_o this_o we_o ourselves_o may_v judge_v in_o that_o we_o see_v that_o there_o be_v no_o nation_n or_o people_n that_o live_v with_o no_o religion_n at_o all_o but_o they_o have_v one_o either_o true_a or_o false_a whereby_o they_o labour_v to_o appease_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n and_o to_o be_v under_o his_o favour_n and_o protection_n according_a to_o that_o measure_n of_o whereas_o the_o path_n of_o pleasure_n will_v seem_v to_o be_v very_o delectable_a and_o easy_a because_o it_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n more_o natural_a to_o our_o corrupt_a nature_n but_o how_o hard_a so_o ever_o it_o be_v to_o our_o flesh_n to_o follow_v after_o a_o virtuous_a honest_a and_o sober_a life_n yet_o custom_n will_v make_v it_o easy_a to_o overpasse_v as_o likewise_o to_o forsake_v that_o which_o be_v contrary_a unto_o it_o therefore_o it_o have_v not_o without_o just_a cause_n be_v give_v out_o long_o since_o by_o wise_a and_o skilful_a man_n that_o it_o be_v very_o good_a and_o profitable_a to_o be_v accustom_v to_o good_a thing_n especial_o from_o one_o infancy_n that_o it_o skill_v much_o how_o euâ—rie_a one_o have_v be_v bring_v up_o from_o his_o youth_n that_o but_o to_o do_v it_o well_o and_o as_o it_o ought_v to_o be_v do_v that_o it_o be_v to_o get_v a_o facility_n therein_o through_o use_n and_o excercise_n to_o the_o end_n it_o may_v do_v the_o same_o suffer_v shall_v afford_v we_o no_o ease_n &_o refresh_v but_o let_v we_o come_v now_o to_o that_o which_o particular_o concern_v the_o affection_n of_o the_o soul_n that_o we_o may_v be_v full_o instruct_v in_o the_o nature_n &_o sundry_a kind_n of_o they_o first_o we_o will_v note_v that_o we_o understand_v by_o affection_n that_o natural_a power_n in_o the_o soul_n which_o open_v itself_o towards_o good_a and_o with_o draw_v itself_o from_o evil_a as_o we_o have_v already_o declare_v before_o now_o when_o the_o action_n of_o a_o affection_n be_v grow_v to_o be_v habit_n spring_n then_o be_v they_o call_v either_o virtue_n or_o vice_n according_a as_o they_o be_v either_o well_o or_o ill_o do_v and_o from_o hence_o proceed_v good_a or_o ill_a manner_n of_o which_o moral_a philosophy_n take_v that_o name_n because_o it_o inâ—reateth_v of_o they_o for_o that_o show_v what_o virtue_n and_o vice_n be_v how_o many_o kind_n there_o be_v of_o they_o and_o what_o difference_n knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o obedience_n to_o his_o will_n bring_v to_o our_o heart_n we_o may_v also_o judge_v whether_o there_o be_v a_o paradise_n and_o another_o life_n and_o other_o joy_n beside_o this_o which_o we_o receive_v by_o corporal_a pleasure_n as_o beast_n do_v for_o this_o joy_n that_o come_v to_o we_o from_o such_o pleasure_n be_v common_a to_o we_o with_o they_o &_o in_o we_o whereof_o we_o have_v here_o but_o a_o very_a small_a taste_n in_o respect_n of_o that_o we_o shall_v have_v when_o we_o shall_v be_v full_o reform_v according_a to_o god_n image_n so_o that_o both_o our_o understanding_n reason_n &_o will_n shall_v be_v make_v comformable_a unto_o he_o because_o we_o shall_v be_v whole_o swallow_v up_o in_o his_o love_n contrariwise_o life_n if_o so_o natural_a to_o man_n soul_n that_o they_o be_v within_o they_o albeit_o they_o have_v not_o receive_v they_o from_o without_o either_o by_o doctrine_n or_o instruction_n whereby_o a_o man_n may_v easy_o judge_v yea_o it_o follow_v necessary_o that_o they_o be_v create_v of_o a_o more_o excellent_a nature_n than_o be_v that_o of_o the_o element_n of_o a_o nature_n that_o be_v incorruptible_a and_o perpetual_a wherefore_o it_o be_v very_o evident_a that_o this_o knowledge_n thus_o natural_a to_o man_n soul_n be_v a_o certain_a testimony_n that_o they_o be_v not_o bear_v at_o all_o adventure_n but_o be_v create_v by_o great_a art_n and_o by_o a_o wonder_a providence_n of_o that_o divine_a and_o eternal_a nature_n by_o which_o they_o have_v their_o be_v namely_o god_n their_o creator_n for_o which_o cause_n also_o the_o knowledge_n of_o he_o shine_v in_o us._n so_o also_o we_o may_v well_o judge_v that_o god_n have_v not_o in_o vain_a place_v in_o our_o nature_n the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o difference_n that_o be_v between_o virtue_n and_o vice_n between_o thing_n honest_a and_o dishonest_a and_o that_o grief_n which_o be_v to_o take_v vengeance_n in_o we_o of_o those_o vice_n and_o crime_n of_o which_o we_o feel_v ourselves_o guilty_a and_o therefore_o the_o heathen_a themselves_n conclude_v that_o there_o be_v not_o only_o a_o divine_a justice_n and_o nature_n which_o discern_v good_a man_n from_o evil_a but_o also_o that_o there_o be_v another_o life_n after_o this_o in_o which_o this_o judgement_n shall_v be_v make_v for_o they_o consider_v what_o great_a torment_v the_o wicked_a feel_v in_o their_o heart_n and_o conscience_n after_o they_o have_v commit_v horrible_a crime_n and_o that_o there_o be_v none_o so_o audacious_a and_o obdurate_a not_o the_o great_a mocker_n and_o contemner_n of_o god_n and_o of_o his_o judgment_n that_o can_v be_v who_o can_v always_o exempt_v himself_o from_o this_o dolour_n and_o pain_n notwithstanding_o he_o labour_v with_o all_o his_o might_n to_o the_o contrary_n for_o there_o be_v always_o a_o certain_a secret_a virtue_n of_o god_n justice_n which_o go_v beyond_o they_o all_o be_v god_n but_o he_o must_v be_v all-good_a aliust_a and_o almighty_a if_o he_o be_v good_a he_o can_v hate_v the_o good_a or_o they_o that_o do_v it_o but_o love_v they_o so_o as_o that_o he_o can_v of_o he_o who_o it_o love_v as_o contrariwise_o hatred_n can_v but_o desire_v and_o procure_v the_o hurt_n and_o dishonour_n of_o he_o who_o it_o hate_v it_o follow_v then_o necessary_o that_o god_n be_v good_a and_o just_a love_v good_a and_o just_a man_n desire_v and_o procure_v their_o honour_n and_o their_o good_a and_o contrariwise_o that_o he_o hate_v unjust_a and_o wicked_a man_n desire_v and_o procure_v their_o confusion_n and_o ruin_n and_o if_o he_o have_v this_o desire_n and_o this_o will_n no_o doubt_n but_o he_o can_v easy_o and_o do_v also_o execute_v the_o same_o see_v he_o of_o god_n after_o which_o he_o be_v create_v but_o also_o from_o the_o very_a nature_n of_o god_n so_o that_o whosoever_o gainesay_v the_o same_o have_v no_o more_o reason_n than_o if_o he_o say_v that_o there_o be_v no_o god_n and_o that_o god_n be_v not_o god_n and_o that_o man_n be_v not_o man_n and_o that_o he_o differ_v in_o nothing_o from_o a_o beast_n neither_o god_n from_o the_o devil_n now_o who_o can_v so_o much_o as_o think_v there_o be_v none_o but_o he_o may_v also_o persuade_v
himself_o withal_o that_o there_o be_v no_o world_n nor_o any_o creature_n and_o that_o himself_o be_v not_o the_o same_o he_o be_v this_o it_o must_v i_o say_v of_o necessity_n follow_v that_o if_o one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n call_v this_o synteresis_n the_o very_a conscience_n itself_o whereas_o other_o say_v it_o be_v the_o natural_a judgement_n and_o some_o the_o light_n of_o our_o mind_n and_o spirit_n the_o philosopher_n who_o have_v some_o obscure_a knowledge_n say_v that_o there_o be_v certain_a anticipation_n in_o our_o nature_n by_o which_o they_o mean_v the_o selfsame_o thing_n in_o a_o manner_n for_o by_o these_o anticipation_n they_o understande_v those_o principle_n of_o knowledge_n and_o natural_a information_n which_o be_v as_o it_o be_v rule_n we_o have_v not_o
