first-fruit_n and_o beginning_n of_o they_o in_o your_o heart_n let_v these_o thought_n sweeten_v your_o suffering_n and_o consolate_v your_o loss_n it_o be_v in_o vain_a that_o you_o threaten_v i_o you_o people_n of_o the_o world_n you_o can_v deprive_v i_o of_o what_o i_o possess_v nor_o hinder_v i_o from_o find_v what_o i_o seek_v since_o upon_o the_o thing_n of_o heaven_n you_o have_v no_o power_n whatever_o you_o bereave_v i_o of_o the_o best_a part_n of_o my_o treasure_n and_o the_o only_a part_n that_o deserve_v that_o appellation_n will_v still_o remain_v entire_a to_o i_o let_v the_o same_o thought_n arm_v we_o against_o all_o tentation_n thou_o tempter_n promise_v i_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o earth_n but_o i_o seek_v those_o of_o heaven_n which_o thou_o can_v not_o dispose_v of_o though_o i_o shall_v lose_v all_o i_o have_v here_o below_o even_o to_o this_o flesh_n its_o self_n yet_o shall_v i_o find_v it_o again_o with_o a_o thousand-fold_n increase_v in_o heaven_n let_v this_o thought_n again_o keep_v we_o continual_o busy_v in_o the_o good_a and_o worthy_a action_n of_o piety_n charity_n and_o honesty_n let_v our_o manner_n resemble_v those_o of_o the_o inhabitant_n of_o that_o divine_a city_n which_o we_o seek_v let_v the_o light_n of_o their_o knowledge_n the_o ardency_n of_o their_o love_n the_o purity_n of_o their_o affection_n shine_v forth_o now_o betimes_o in_o our_o life_n it_o be_v that_o to_o which_o that_o new_a nature_n jesus_n
for_o see_v themselves_o still_o put_v back_o by_o their_o own_o father_n what_o can_v they_o hope_v for_o from_o other_o hand_n some_o which_o be_v yet_o worse_o be_v by_o this_o mean_v harden_v and_o together_o with_o sensibility_n and_o nature_n do_v lose_v all_o shame_n and_o modesty_n and_o fall_v at_o last_o by_o little_a and_o little_a into_o desperate_a impiety_n no_o long_o make_v any_o account_n of_o god_n or_o man_n which_o be_v the_o utmost_a and_o horrid_a degree_n of_o viciousness_n consider_v if_o the_o fear_n of_o so_o great_a a_o mischief_n do_v not_o oblige_v all_o father_n who_o have_v any_o remainder_n i_o will_v not_o say_v of_o piety_n but_o even_o of_o judgement_n and_o good_a sense_n to_o take_v heed_n that_o they_o provoke_v not_o their_o child_n brethren_n i_o beseech_v you_o improve_v now_o this_o instruction_n of_o the_o apostle_n child_n to_o who_o first_o he_o address_v his_o discourse_n render_v you_o to_o your_o father_n and_o mother_n contentment_n before_o their_o own_o and_o toil_v not_o but_o for_o you_o and_o have_v you_o night_n and_o day_n in_o their_o heart_n the_o vow_n wherewith_o they_o follow_v you_o every_o where_o crave_v nothing_o of_o god_n more_o instant_o than_o your_o advancement_n and_o happiness_n and_o look_v on_o you_o as_o the_o principal_a subject_n of_o their_o hope_n and_o of_o their_o joy_n have_v not_o so_o unnatural_a a_o soul_n as_o not_o to_o resent_v all_o these_o strict_a obobligation_n which_o you_o have_v to_o love_v and_o serve_v and_o honour_v they_o pay_v their_o love_n with_o your_o respect_n and_o their_o pain_n with_o your_o obedience_n and_o be_v not_o so_o wretched_a as_o to_o render_v they_o trouble_v and_o affliction_n for_o so_o many_o benefit_n as_o you_o have_v receive_v of_o they_o nor_o so_o ingrateful_a as_o to_o frustrate_v the_o just_a hope_n they_o have_v conceive_v of_o you_o certain_o you_o will_v owe_v they_o this_o obedience_n though_o no_o other_o consideration_n do_v oblige_v you_o than_o what_o be_v found_v in_o themselves_o but_o there_o be_v more_o than_o so_o the_o apostle_n assure_v you_o that_o in_o perform_v your_o duty_n unto_o man_n go_v out_o of_o the_o father_n house_n for_o this_o thou_o have_v enough_o at_o home_n wherewith_o to_o please_v the_o lord_n as_o for_o the_o particular_a exercise_n about_o which_o monk_n be_v busy_v in_o their_o cloister_n we_o know_v not_o whether_o they_o please_v god_n who_o never_o command_v they_o but_o for_o the_o service_n which_o our_o parent_n demand_v of_o we_o for_o their_o consolation_n and_o the_o ease_n of_o their_o life_n we_o can_v doubt_v but_o that_o they_o be_v most_o please_v to_o he_o since_o he_o command_v they_o and_o his_o apostle_n assure_v we_o here_o express_o of_o it_o consider_v i_o pray_v the_o imprudence_n of_o these_o people_n they_o say_v they_o will_v please_v god_n and_o that_o it_o be_v their_o whole_a aim_n to_o content_v he_o mean_a instruct_v by_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n seek_v to_o please_v he_o in_o do_v what_o he_o order_v you_o and_o in_o employ_v that_o time_n and_o labour_n to_o the_o serve_v of_o and_o obey_v your_o parent_n which_o superstition_n lose_v in_o its_o painful_a but_o vain_a and_o fruitless_a exercise_n this_o be_v the_o way_n to_o be_v please_v unto_o god_n and_o to_o assure_v unto_o yourselves_o that_o crown_n of_o blessedness_n which_o he_o have_v promise_v to_o such_o child_n as_o faithful_o discharge_v this_o duty_n as_o for_o you_o believe_v parent_n nature_n itself_o and_o the_o interest_n of_o your_o own_o happiness_n so_o forcible_o impell_v you_o to_o love_v your_o child_n and_o to_o treat_v they_o well_o that_o if_o the_o apostle_n have_v forbear_v to_o give_v such_o a_o express_a advertisement_n against_o provoke_v they_o i_o think_v there_o will_v not_o have_v be_v much_o need_n to_o say_v any_o thing_n of_o it_o we_o offend_v much_o more_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n i_o mean_v in_o excess_n of_o affection_n and_o in_o the_o softness_n of_o indulgence_n not_o hee_v that_o to_o treat_v they_o so_o laxe_o be_v in_o truth_n to_o hate_v and_o not_o to_o love_v they_o to_o destroy_v and_o not_o to_o breed_v they_o up_o the_o apostle_n forbid_v you_o to_o provoke_v they_o but_o hinder_v not_o your_o correct_v your_o reprove_v your_o chasten_v they_o if_o they_o deserve_v it_o he_o will_v only_o that_o your_o conduct_n be_v just_a and_o temperate_a that_o it_o keep_v a_o mean_a between_o the_o two_o extreme_n the_o roughness_n of_o severity_n and_o the_o remissness_n of_o indulgence_n the_o care_n you_o owe_v they_o be_v to_o form_v they_o unto_o true_a virtue_n unto_o the_o knowledge_n and_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n unto_o charity_n and_o justice_n and_o honesty_n towards_o man_n to_o give_v they_o example_n hereof_o in_o your_o life_n and_o inculcate_v the_o lesson_n of_o they_o with_o your_o lip_n whereas_o we_o ourselves_o ruin_v their_o manner_n and_o form_v they_o early_o to_o our_o vice_n almost_o before_o they_o know_v they_o our_o great_a care_n be_v to_o keep_v their_o courage_n high_a and_o instruct_v they_o unto_o pride_n and_o inure_v they_o unto_o vanity_n as_o if_o nature_n have_v not_o give_v they_o enough_o of_o it_o and_o hereto_o they_o that_o have_v the_o mean_n fail_v not_o to_o add_v ball_n and_o dance_n and_o comedy_n and_o that_o they_o may_v the_o better_o learn_v these_o brave_a lesson_n father_n and_o mother_n give_v they_o example_n of_o '_o they_o we_o need_v not_o wonder_n if_o under_o such_o education_n we_o see_v our_o youth_n to_o speed_v so_o ill_o if_o it_o become_v insolent_a if_o it_o have_v little_a sentiment_n of_o true_a piety_n if_o it_o treat_v those_o so_o much_o amiss_o to_o who_o it_o owe_v most_o respect_n brethren_n if_o you_o have_v child_n remember_v that_o beside_o the_o interest_n you_o have_v in_o their_o virtue_n and_o their_o vice_n you_o shall_v render_v a_o account_n for_o they_o unto_o god_n who_o have_v give_v they_o to_o you_o to_o breed_v they_o for_o his_o glory_n and_o for_o the_o edification_n of_o his_o church_n and_o not_o to_o content_v the_o world_n or_o to_o serve_v vanity_n but_o dear_a brethren_n of_o whatever_o state_n or_o condition_n we_o be_v let_v we_o further_o take_v out_o two_o lesson_n here_o which_o the_o apostle_n give_v we_o the_o one_o be_v to_o render_v all_o of_o we_o unto_o god_n a_o exact_a and_o humble_a obedience_n in_o all_o thing_n since_o we_o have_v the_o honour_n to_o be_v his_o child_n it_o be_v this_o that_o the_o child_n owe_v his_o father_n we_o be_v not_o he_o if_o we_o obey_v he_o not_o we_o false_o vaunt_v ourselves_o in_o that_o glorious_a title_n if_o we_o neglect_v the_o
