fall_v from_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o religion_n of_o christ_n and_o from_o be_v so_o profane_a as_o to_o be_v more_o indulgent_a to_o fornication_n uncleanness_n and_o other_o sin_n then_o publish_n of_o the_o law_n at_o mount_n sinai_n and_o withal_o he_o do_v tacit_o disparage_v that_o glorious_a and_o terrible_a manner_n wherein_o the_o law_n be_v proclaim_v which_o happy_o be_v no_o small_a motive_n to_o the_o hebrew_n to_o think_v that_o they_o be_v not_o to_o forsake_v the_o law_n who_o proclamation_n be_v perform_v with_o such_o majesty_n have_v show_v the_o great_a benefit_n accrue_v by_o the_o gospel_n he_o thence_o infer_v that_o they_o ought_v with_o all_o their_o endeavour_n to_o obey_v the_o voice_n of_o the_o gospel_n otherwise_o they_o shall_v fall_v upon_o terrible_a and_o infallible_a judgement_n not_o amoveable_a by_o any_o tear_n and_o cry_n first_o therefore_o he_o mention_n the_o thing_n that_o of_o old_a happen_v to_o the_o israelite_n at_o the_o publication_n of_o the_o law_n and_o afterward_o to_o they_o he_o oppose_v the_o thing_n happen_v to_o christian_n at_o the_o publication_n of_o the_o gospel_n for_o say_v he_o you_o be_v not_o come_v and_o tempest_n by_o blackness_n we_o may_v understand_v that_o thick_a cloud_n wherein_o god_n be_v say_v to_o have_v descend_v and_o the_o darkness_n be_v the_o great_a shadow_n which_o be_v cause_v by_o the_o overspread_a of_o that_o cloud_n which_o be_v extreme_o thick_a must_v needs_o induce_v a_o extraordinary_a darkness_n and_o the_o tempest_n be_v not_o by_o any_o violence_n of_o wind_n and_o rain_n as_o by_o lightning_n and_o thunder_n which_o rush_n with_o as_o much_o violence_n as_o wind_n in_o a_o tempest_n and_o many_o time_n be_v accompany_v with_o a_o tempest_n all_o thing_n be_v compose_v and_o suit_v to_o inject_v fear_n and_o terror_n for_o from_o the_o thick_a cloud_n and_o the_o darkness_n that_o it_o cause_v there_o issue_v forth_o a_o horrible_a burn_a of_o fire_n the_o lightning_n shine_v out_o and_o the_o thunder_v clap_v and_o beside_o the_o thunder_n be_v a_o noise_n more_o fearful_a for_o the_o noise_n of_o a_o trumpet_n that_o sound_v long_o and_o loud_o and_o by_o degree_n rise_v loud_o and_o loud_o fill_v the_o whole_a air_n and_o that_o nothing_o may_v want_v for_o rerrour_n the_o whole_a mount_n from_o the_o top_n to_o the_o bottom_n tremble_v and_o quake_v to_o the_o extreme_a amazement_n of_o the_o people_n 19_o and_o the_o sound_n of_o a_o trumpet_n and_o the_o voice_n of_o word_n the_o word_n be_v the_o commandment_n of_o the_o law_n and_o the_o voice_n be_v the_o voice_n of_o god_n wherewith_o the_o word_n of_o the_o law_n be_v utter_v from_o the_o top_n of_o the_o mount_n out_o of_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o fire_n for_o after_o that_o the_o whole_a multitude_n summon_v by_o the_o sound_n of_o the_o trumpet_n stand_v at_o the_o foot_n of_o the_o mount_n ready_a to_o hear_v the_o law_n than_o god_n with_o a_o voice_n undoubted_o no_o less_o terrible_a than_o the_o sound_n of_o the_o trumpet_n publish_v his_o will_n in_o the_o law_n for_o how_o terrible_a god_n voice_n be_v hereby_o it_o appear_v in_o that_o the_o israclite_n supplicate_v that_o god_n will_v speak_v no_o more_o unto_o they_o for_o so_o it_o follow_v in_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o verse_n which_o voice_n they_o that_o hear_v entreat_v that_o the_o word_n shall_v not_o be_v speak_v to_o they_o any_o more_o the_o voice_n of_o god_n be_v so_o terrible_a to_o the_o people_n that_o thereby_o they_o be_v afraid_a of_o their_o life_n and_o therefore_o entreat_v moses_n that_o if_o there_o be_v any_o more_o to_o be_v speak_v he_o will_v speak_v it_o and_o not_o god_n lest_o say_v they_o we_o die_v see_v exod._n 20.18,19_o and_o deut._n 5.25,26_o 20._o for_o they_o can_v not_o endure_v that_o which_o be_v command_v if_o these_o word_n cohere_v with_o the_o word_n immediate_o follow_v in_o the_o verse_n and_o if_o so_o much_o as_o a_o beast_n well_o doubt_v how_o this_o agree_v with_o the_o sacred_a history_n from_o whence_o no_o such_o thing_n seem_v to_o appear_v that_o the_o people_n therefore_o deprecate_v god_n further_a speech_n unto_o they_o because_o they_o fear_v that_o command_n of_o not_o touch_v the_o mount_n and_o can_v not_o endure_v it_o as_o a_o thing_n too_o grievous_a and_o dangerous_a to_o they_o but_o rather_o therefore_o because_o they_o be_v terrible_o afraid_a of_o that_o fire_n out_o of_o which_o god_n speak_v and_o because_o they_o imagine_v that_o god_n can_v not_o long_o speak_v with_o man_n but_o that_o man_n unable_a to_o bear_v the_o voice_n and_o majesty_n of_o god_n must_v needs_o die_v as_o appear_v by_o their_o word_n to_o moses_n see_v deut._n 5.24,25,26_o yet_o because_o by_o their_o word_n there_o it_o be_v manifest_a that_o they_o fear_v to_o be_v consume_v by_o the_o fire_n out_o of_o which_o god_n speak_v it_o seem_v that_o it_o can_v proceed_v from_o no_o other_o reason_n but_o because_o they_o be_v afraid_a they_o may_v easy_o offend_v god_n and_o provoke_v he_o whereupon_o that_o fire_n will_v take_v hold_n of_o they_o for_o why_o otherwise_o shall_v they_o be_v so_o afraid_a of_o that_o fearful_a but_o harmless_a fire_n which_o hurt_n moses_n nothing_o at_o all_o and_o wherein_o can_v they_o soon_o and_o more_o easy_o offend_v god_n then_o if_o any_o of_o they_o
