sort_n of_o people_n lightness_n reign_v much_o of_o the_o pharisee_n m._n there_o be_v no_o sect_n that_o more_o envy_v christ_n than_o the_o sect_n of_o the_o pharisées_fw-fr for_o they_o be_v puff_v up_o with_o a_o opinion_n of_o holiness_n and_o with_o their_o authority_n by_o which_o they_o excel_v other_o of_o the_o jew_n but_o christ_n uncover_v the_o hypocrisy_n of_o these_o man_n and_o therefore_o they_o do_v hate_v he_o to_o the_o death_n a._n but_o touch_v that_o which_o partayn_v to_o their_o sect_n and_o original_n read_v our_o exposition_n upon_o the_o three_o chapter_n of_o matthew_n c._n this_o be_v great_a honour_n to_o nicodemus_n that_o he_o be_v a_o pharisée_fw-fr and_o a_o ruler_n of_o the_o jew_n but_o the_o evangelist_n do_v not_o give_v he_o this_o title_n for_o honour_n sake_n but_o rather_o note_v that_o the_o same_o be_v a_o obstacle_n and_o let_v unto_o he_o from_o come_v with_o a_o free_a and_o quiet_a mind_n unto_o christ_n whereby_o we_o be_v admonish_v that_o they_o which_o excel_v in_o the_o world_n be_v very_o much_o wrap_v with_o troublesome_a snare_n that_o they_o can_v not_o aspire_v unto_o heaven_n but_o the_o evangelist_n do_v unto_o the_o lord_n according_a to_o the_o say_n of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n 6_o john_n 6_o all_o that_o my_o father_n geve_v i_o shall_v come_v unto_o i_o c._n notwithstanding_o in_o that_o he_o come_v in_o the_o night_n we_o may_v gather_v that_o he_o be_v too_o to_o fearful_a for_o he_o be_v blind_v in_o his_o own_o conceit_n it_o may_v be_v also_o that_o shame_n do_v stay_v he_o because_o such_o man_n as_o be_v ambitious_a think_v that_o they_o have_v for_o ever_o lose_v their_o fame_n if_o they_o descend_v from_o the_o stately_a degree_n of_o a_o master_n to_o the_o order_n of_o a_o scholar_n and_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o that_o this_o man_n be_v puff_v uppe_o with_o a_o foolish_a opinion_n of_o his_o own_o knowledge_n to_o be_v short_a see_v he_o do_v make_v great_a account_n of_o himself_o he_o will_v not_o willing_o lease_v any_o part_n of_o his_o estimation_n and_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o he_o seem_v to_o show_v some_o spark_n of_o godliness_n to_o be_v in_o he_o in_o that_o he_o hear_v a_o prophet_n of_o god_n to_o be_v come_v do_v not_o contemn_v or_o neglect_v the_o

do_v not_o instruct_v man_n in_o godliness_n and_o in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n but_o of_o that_o knowledge_n by_o which_o they_o only_o be_v count_v meet_a interpreter_n of_o the_o law_n us._n often_o time_n admonish_v his_o disciple_n lest_o they_o shall_v swerve_v from_o the_o same_o because_o we_o be_v more_o prone_a to_o nothing_o than_o to_o carnal_a affection_n insomuch_o that_o under_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n we_o love_v somewhat_o beside_o christ_n to_o the_o which_o effect_n pertain_v this_o say_n of_o saint_n paul_n although_o we_o have_v know_v christ_n after_o the_o flesh_n 16_o 2_z cor._n 5_o 16_o now_o yet_o henceforth_o know_v we_o he_o so_o no_o more_o therefore_o if_o any_o man_n be_v in_o christ_n he_o be_v a_o new_a creature_n m._n he_o say_v not_o of_o god_n by_o which_o he_o encourage_v those_o that_o run_v well_o to_o go_v forward_o and_o he_o that_o love_v i_o shall_v be_v love_v bu_n to_o belove_a of_o the_o father_n be_v to_o be_v receive_v into_o the_o friendship_n of_o the_o most_o high_a god_n and_o to_o be_v preserve_v and_o defend_v by_o god_n m._n but_o hear_v it_o may_v be_v demand_v how_o christ_n say_v that_o he_o be_v love_v of_o the_o father_n which_o love_v he_o as_o though_o we_o must_v first_o love_v he_o before_o we_o can_v be_v love_v of_o the_o father_n c._n objection_n for_o christ_n speak_v as_o though_o man_n may_v prevent_v he_o with_o their_o love_n the_o which_o notwithstanding_o be_v very_o absurd_a i0_n rom_n 5_o i0_n for_o at_o such_o time_n as_o we_o be_v his_o enemy_n he_o reconcile_v we_o to_o himself_o also_o s._n john_n say_v in_o this_o be_v love_n not_o that_o we_o love_v god_n but_o in_o that_o he_o love_v us._n i0_n i_o joh_n 4_o i0_n but_o here_o be_v no_o controversy_n concern_v the_o cause_n or_o the_o effect_n terefore_o it_o be_v gather_v amiss_o that_o the_o love_n wherewith_o we_o love_v christ_n must_v needs_o go_v before_o that_o love_n which_o god_n bear_v unto_o us._n for_o this_o only_o be_v the_o purpose_n of_o christ_n to_o show_v that_o all_o they_o shall_v be_v bless_v which_o love_v he_o because_o they_o shall_v be_v love_v of_o the_o father_n in_o like_a manner_n again_o not_o that_o god_n begin_v then_o to_o love_v they_o but_o because_o they_o have_v the_o testimony_n of_o his_o fatherly_a love_n write_v in_o their_o heart_n to_o the_o same_o effect_n pertain_v also_o that_o which_o follow_v in_o the_o next_o member_n where_o he_o say_v and_o will_v show_v my_o own_o self_n unto_o he_o c._n knowledge_n very_o go_v before_o love_n but_o this_o be_v the_o purpose_n of_o christ_n that_o he_o will_v geve_v unto_o the_o true_a imbracer_n of_o his_o doctrine_n strength_n to_o profit_n daily_o in_o the_o faith_n that_o be_v to_o say_v i_o will_v bring_v to_o pass_v that_o they_o shall_v come_v near_o and_o more_o familliarlye_o unto_o i_o bv_o i_o will_v increase_v in_o they_o my_o gift_n that_o from_o thence_o forth_o they_o know_v more_o right_o and_o ful_o the_o misterye_n of_o god_n kingdom_n may_v be_v join_v at_o the_o last_o by_o the_o same_o perfect_a faith_n unto_o i_o and_o may_v also_o enjoy_v i_o to_o their_o soul_n health_n for_o faith_n and_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n have_v their_o degree_n which_o increase_v more_o and_o more_o till_o they_o grow_v unto_o the_o full_a measure_n c._n hereby_o we_o may_v perceyve_v that_o the_o fruit_n of_o godliness_n be_v the_o go_v forward_o in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n for_o he_o which_o promise_v to_o geve_v unto_o he_o that_o have_v reject_v hypocrite_n make_v all_o to_o profit_v in_o the_o faith_n who_o unfainedlye_o embrace_v the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n frame_v themselves_o whole_o unto_o the_o obedience_n thereof_o and_o hereupon_o it_o come_v that_o many_o go_v backward_o we_o do_v see_v scarce_o the_o ten_o man_n to_o go_v forewarde_n in_o his_o right_a course_n because_o the_o great_a part_n be_v unworthy_a to_o behold_v christ_n also_o we_o must_v note_n that_o more_o ample_a knowledge_n of_o christ_n be_v here_o set_v forth_o as_o a_o singular_a reward_n of_o our_o love_n to_o christ_n whereupon_o it_o follow_v that_o it_o be_v a_o unspeakable_a treasure_n 22._o judas_n say_v unto_o he_o not_o judas_n iscariot_n lord_n what_o be_v do_v that_o thou_o will_v show_v thyself_o unto_o we_o and_o not_o choose_v none_o which_o love_v he_o but_o the_o choose_v some_o out_o from_o among_o his_o enemy_n who_o heart_n he_o may_v bend_v to_o love_v he_o but_o he_o think_v it_o not_o good_a at_o this_o time_n to_o touch_v that_o difference_n which_o be_v far_o from_o the_o purpose_n his_o purpose_n be_v to_o exhort_v his_o disciple_n to_o the_o earnest_a desire_n of_o godliness_n that_o they_o may_v profit_v more_o and_o more_o in_o the_o faith_n therefore_o he_o think_v it_o sufficient_a to_o put_v a_o difference_n between_o his_o disciple_n and_o the_o
