by_o the_o minister_n and_o pride_n be_v threaten_v with_o everlasting_a wrath_n and_o describe_v as_o the_o devil_n image_n so_o that_o holiness_n have_v all_o the_o advantage_n against_o pride_n that_o can_v be_v here_o expect_v 12._o to_o conclude_v the_o godly_a know_v that_o as_o they_o have_v nothing_o but_o from_o god_n so_o they_o have_v nothing_o but_o for_o god_n so_o that_o their_o own_o honour_n be_v for_o he_o more_o than_o for_o themselves_o and_o it_o be_v essential_a to_o their_o holiness_n to_o make_v god_n their_o end_n and_o set_v he_o high_a and_o refer_v all_o to_o his_o pleasure_n and_o glory_n so_o that_o you_o see_v now_o that_o we_o may_v honour_v they_o that_o fear_v the_o lord_n psalm_n 15._o 4._o without_o be_v guilty_a of_o make_v they_o proud_a and_o that_o we_o must_v not_o deny_v they_o the_o honour_n that_o god_n have_v give_v they_o as_o their_o due_n for_o fear_v of_o their_o be_v proud_a of_o it_o though_o this_o as_o all_o thing_n else_o be_v not_o because_o you_o be_v so_o religious_a but_o because_o you_o be_v no_o more_o religious_a and_o if_o pride_n of_o knowledge_n gift_n or_o whatsoever_o be_v unmortified_a in_o you_o it_o that_o be_v but_o honest-hearted_a may_v certain_o understand_v they_o which_o quiet_v and_o please_v and_o satisfy_v the_o mind_n 3._o and_o yet_o there_o be_v a_o exciting_a difficulty_n in_o many_o thing_n that_o be_v offer_v to_o our_o knowledge_n which_o do_v but_o make_v our_o holy_a study_n the_o more_o delightful_a if_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v so_o plain_a and_o obvious_a to_o all_o that_o it_o may_v be_v all_o understand_v at_o the_o first_o read_v the_o plainness_n will_v bring_v our_o sacred_a knowledge_n into_o contempt_n as_o be_v a_o easy_a common_a thing_n thing_n common_a and_o easy_o get_v be_v little_o set_v by_o but_o when_o the_o plainness_n be_v such_o as_o may_v prevent_v our_o despair_n and_o dissatisfaction_n and_o yet_o the_o difficulty_n such_o that_o it_o may_v hold_v we_o in_o study_n and_o prevent_v our_o contempt_n it_o make_v the_o most_o delightful_a knowledge_n it_o be_v pleasant_a to_o find_v some_o daily_a addition_n to_o our_o light_n and_o to_o be_v on_o the_o gain_n and_o thrive_a hand_n and_o this_o upon_o our_o diligent_a search_n success_n be_v as_o pleasant_a as_o a_o present_a fullness_n of_o supply_n the_o daily_a blessing_n of_o god_n upon_o our_o study_n and_o humble_a learning_n add_v to_o our_o delight_n so_o that_o all_o this_o set_v together_o may_v show_v you_o how_o pleasant_a a_o thing_n it_o be_v to_o have_v the_o knowledge_n of_o a_o saint_n especial_o if_o you_o add_v that_o he_o have_v a_o exporimental_a and_o so_o a_o sweet_a knowledge_n than_o the_o most_o learned_a man_n have_v that_o be_v ungodly_a he_o have_v taste_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v gracious_a and_o he_o have_v taste_v the_o sweetness_n of_o his_o love_n and_o of_o all_o the_o riches_n of_o his_o grace_n in_o christ_n and_o of_o his_o full_a and_o precious_a promise_n and_o of_o the_o inward_a powerful_a work_n of_o his_o spirit_n his_o experimental_a knowledge_n be_v the_o most_o delightful_a knowledge_n the_o pleasure_n of_o natural_a knowledge_n be_v great_a but_o the_o pleasure_n of_o save_a knowledge_n be_v much_o great_a i_o do_v not_o believe_v that_o ever_o any_o of_o the_o ambitious_a troubler_n of_o the_o world_n that_o let_v go_v heaven_n that_o they_o may_v rule_v on_o earth_n have_v half_o the_o pleasure_n in_o their_o greatness_n and_o usurp_a dignity_n as_o a_o honest_a student_n have_v in_o his_o book_n and_o studious_a exercise_n and_o success_n but_o if_o you_o compare_v the_o pleasure_n of_o their_o greatness_n and_o command_n with_o the_o pleasure_n of_o a_o true_a believe_a soul_n in_o his_o life_n of_o faith_n and_o sweet_a fore-thought_n of_o his_o heavenly_a inheritance_n i_o must_v plain_o tell_v you_o that_o we_o disdain_v the_o comparison_n again_o i_o say_v that_o if_o you_o will_v compare_v the_o drunkard_n the_o fornicator_n or_o the_o ambitious_a or_o covetous_a man_n delight_n with_o the_o solace_n that_o i_o find_v in_o my_o retire_a study_n even_o about_o natural_a literal_a and_o spiritual_a sense_n to_o see_v there_o the_o mind_n and_o will_n of_o god_n and_o to_o see_v our_o charter_n for_o the_o heavenly_a inheritance_n and_o read_v the_o precept_n and_o the_o promise_n and_o the_o example_n of_o the_o faith_n and_o patience_n of_o the_o saint_n 5._o how_o pleasant_a be_v it_o to_o know_v the_o heavenly_a operation_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o the_o nature_n and_o action_n of_o his_o several_a grace_n and_o the_o use_n of_o every_o one_o of_o they_o to_o our_o soul_n and_o especial_o to_o find_v they_o in_o ourselves_o and_o to_o be_v
