spirit_n than_o all_o be_v safe_a then_o what_o work_n so_o ever_o it_o be_v though_o in_o outward_a appearance_n it_o seem_v never_o so_o small_a it_o be_v better_a than_o all_o the_o treasure_n of_o the_o world_n then_o the_o cut_v away_o of_o the_o foreskin_n of_o the_o privy_a member_n be_v a_o acceptable_a worship_n unto_o god_n to_o take_v up_o a_o straw_n from_o the_o earth_n if_o god_n so_o command_v be_v a_o great_a &_o a_o more_o excellent_a work_n and_o also_o a_o worship_n more_o please_a god_n than_o all_o the_o glitter_a work_n of_o the_o whole_a papacy_n which_o have_v no_o ground_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n this_o the_o heathen_a understand_v not_o and_o therefore_o they_o contemn_v jerusalem_n and_o marvel_v why_o the_o people_n shall_v resort_v thither_o certain_a time_n of_o the_o year_n rather_o than_o to_o other_o city_n like_a as_o naaman_n cirus_n think_v at_o the_o beginning_n that_o the_o water_n of_o damascus_n be_v no_o worse_o than_o the_o water_n of_o jordane_n 5._o but_o he_o have_v no_o commandment_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o he_o shall_v wash_v himself_o in_o those_o water_n for_o the_o cleanse_n of_o his_o leprosy_n it_o be_v the_o word_n come_v together_o to_o worship_v the_o lord_n for_o there_o be_v no_o other_o place_n in_o all_o the_o world_n where_o the_o people_n may_v come_v together_o to_o celebrate_v the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n but_o jerusalem_n alone_o so_o that_o this_o verse_n be_v as_o a_o exposition_n of_o that_o place_n in_o exod._n where_o i_o shall_v leave_v a_o memorial_n of_o my_o name_n there_o will_v i_o priest_n not_o â—â—â—ly_o in_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o the_o law_n but_o special_o in_o the_o chief_a sacrifice_n of_o all_o that_o be_v of_o the_o celebrate_n &_o praise_v the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o the_o which_o be_v set_v forth_o spiritual_a consolation_n of_o victory_n against_o sin_n and_o death_n and_o also_o temporal_a concern_v the_o kingdom_n and_o political_a order_n these_o benefit_n he_o set_v forth_o when_o he_o speak_v of_o ascend_v up_o and_o make_v a_o comparison_n between_o jerusalem_n and_o other_o city_n as_o if_o he_o say_v other_o city_n may_v flourish_v with_o riches_n and_o power_n more_o than_o this_o city_n but_o this_o be_v it_o to_o the_o which_o the_o tribe_n do_v ascend_v not_o as_o they_o do_v in_o other_o nation_n but_o the_o tribe_n of_o the_o devil_n the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o world_n sin_n and_o death_n also_o against_o adulterer_n murderer_n thief_n false_a brethren_n etc_o etc_o for_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n the_o advance_v of_o his_o kingdom_n chastity_n innocence_n charity_n etc_n etc_n for_o god_n be_v invisible_a and_o therefore_o when_o they_o be_v hear_v which_o teach_v and_o preach_v unto_o we_o the_o word_n of_o god_n than_o god_n himself_o be_v hear_v for_o he_o can_v not_o be_v hear_v but_o by_o witness_n and_o as_o s._n paul_n call_v they_o by_o his_o messenger_n that_o which_o be_v teach_v they_o in_o the_o church_n be_v invisible_a and_o absent_a and_o therefore_o can_v be_v apprehend_v by_o no_o other_o mean_n but_o by_o the_o testimony_n of_o the_o word_n so_o the_o whole_a gospel_n be_v a_o wherefore_o we_o also_o have_v great_a cause_n to_o acknowledge_v the_o rich_a blessing_n of_o god_n that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v now_o pure_o &_o sincere_o preach_v amongst_o we_o as_o it_o be_v then_o in_o jerusalem_n and_o the_o sweet_a promise_n of_o the_o gospel_n sound_v in_o the_o ear_n &_o conscience_n of_o the_o godly_a to_o their_o singular_a comfort_n and_o consolation_n also_o the_o threaten_n of_o god_n publish_v whereby_o the_o wicked_a be_v call_v to_o repentance_n and_o the_o godly_a keep_v in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o mortification_n of_o the_o old_a man_n through_o the_o assistance_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n who_o the_o father_n through_o christ_n and_o for_o christ_n sake_n pour_v upon_o they_o abundant_o which_o willing_o and_o glad_o receive_v this_o testimony_n this_o be_v one_o part_n then_o of_o the_o true_a worship_n of_o god_n to_o learn_v the_o way_n how_o to_o worship_v god_n in_o such_o sort_n as_o best_o please_v he_o which_o consist_v in_o teach_v of_o the_o word_n &_o hear_n of_o god_n when_o he_o speak_v unto_o we_o by_o his_o witness_n and_o therefore_o the_o devil_n desire_v nothing_o so_o much_o as_o to_o hinder_v the_o preach_v &_o hear_v of_o the_o word_n for_o this_o cause_n he_o raise_v up_o as_o you_o hear_v in_o the_o first_o psalm_n lie_v lip_n and_o deceitful_a tongue_n he_o stir_v up_o the_o world_n with_o sword_n and_o power_n to_o oppress_v the_o godly_a and_o even_o in_o ourselves_o he_o go_v about_o to_o deface_v this_o kind_n of_o service_n and_o worship_n of_o god_n by_o our_o devilish_a contempt_n and_o loathe_n of_o the_o same_o but_o contrariwise_o to_o build_v church_n and_o gorgeous_o to_o deck_v they_o for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o mass_n oblation_n false_a worship_n and_o idolatry_n all_o this_o he_o can_v abide_v well_o enough_o for_o by_o these_o thing_n he_o know_v that_o his_o strength_n be_v not_o diminish_v nor_o his_o power_n weaken_v but_o when_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v preach_v concern_v remission_n of_o sin_n the_o righteousness_n that_o come_v by_o christ_n and_o life_n everlasting_a this_o doctrine_n destroy_v his_o kingdom_n this_o cause_v he_o to_o rage_n and_o to_o seek_v by_o all_o mean_v possible_a how_o he_o may_v hinder_v the_o course_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o other_o part_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n be_v to_o praise_v the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n word_n this_o david_n make_v the_o second_o kind_n of_o worship_n when_o he_o commend_v his_o jerusalem_n and_o here_o again_o note_v that_o he_o speak_v nothing_o of_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o the_o law_n for_o albeit_o he_o do_v not_o discommend_v they_o as_o i_o say_v before_o yet_o he_o reckon_v they_o but_o as_o chaff_n in_o comparison_n of_o the_o word_n and_o the_o fruit_n which_o follow_v thereof_o which_o be_v thank_n give_v and_o if_o he_o have_v name_v the_o sley_a of_o sacrifice_n every_o man_n have_v not_o be_v able_a to_o serve_v god_n with_o that_o kind_n of_o worship_n therefore_o he_o require_v nothing_o else_o but_o that_o which_o they_o be_v able_a to_o do_v without_o great_a charge_n which_o yet_o notwithstanding_o very_o few_o do_v he_o do_v not_o condemn_v the_o build_n of_o the_o temple_n which_o afterward_o shall_v be_v do_v by_o his_o son_n solomon_n but_o do_v earnest_o desire_v the_o same_o and_o the_o cause_n why_o he_o do_v desire_v it_o here_o you_o see_v namely_o that_o first_o the_o name_n of_o god_n may_v there_o be_v preach_v and_o then_o that_o god_n may_v there_o accept_v the_o prayer_n of_o his_o people_n with_o praise_n and_o thank_n give_v for_o his_o benefit_n receive_v hitherto_o we_o have_v hear_v how_o the_o prophet_n extol_v and_o magnify_v the_o incomparable_a gift_n &_o benefit_n of_o god_n the_o word_n i_o mean_v with_o thank_n and_o praise_n unto_o god_n for_o the_o same_o for_o that_o be_v a_o benefit_n and_o blessing_n in_o deed_n which_o be_v know_v and_o acknowledge_v so_o to_o be_v all_o the_o world_n as_o we_o see_v be_v full_a &_o even_o glut_v with_o the_o benefit_n of_o god_n notwithstanding_o it_o remain_v still_o in_o such_o blindness_n that_o it_o know_v they_o not_o to_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o it_o take_v and_o use_v they_o not_o otherwise_o then_o hog_n do_v their_o draff_n &_o swill_n but_o david_n see_v that_o god_n have_v give_v he_o a_o kingdom_n wherein_o the_o pure_a word_n of_o god_n and_o true_a religion_n flourish_v this_o great_a benefit_n he_o acknowledge_v and_o therefore_o he_o so_o rejoice_v and_o magnify_v his_o jerusalem_n as_o a_o place_n appoint_v by_o the_o lords_z own_o mouth_n where_o the_o people_n may_v come_v together_o to_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o to_o give_v thanks_n unto_o god_n for_o that_o man_n a_o weak_a creature_n nothing_o but_o earth_n &_o dust_n shall_v so_o lift_v up_o himself_o in_o pride_n that_o when_o the_o majesty_n of_o god_n speak_v &_o most_o love_o invite_v he_o to_o hear_v he_o will_v not_o hear_v and_o yet_o we_o see_v that_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o common_a than_o this_o impiety_n this_o horrible_a contempt_n this_o devilish_a loathe_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n amongst_o all_o sort_n of_o man_n the_o cause_n be_v for_o that_o we_o hear_v not_o the_o lord_n speak_v now_o unto_o we_o in_o his_o majesty_n as_o he_o speak_v in_o the_o mount_v sinai_n at_o what_o time_n the_o people_n be_v astonish_v &_o tremble_v at_o the_o terrible_a voice_n of_o the_o lord_n &_o yet_o how_o soon_o have_v they_o forget_v the_o lord_n and_o murmur_v both_o against_o the_o lord_n and_o against_o moses_n thus_o in_o his_o majesty_n he_o speak_v no_o more_o but_o he_o speak_v now_o unto_o we_o by_o man_n and_o therefore_o he_o be_v contemn_v horrible_a it_o be_v that_o sodom_n be_v burn_v up_o with_o fire_n from_o heaven_n horrible_a it_o be_v also_o that_o the_o whole_a world_n be_v destroy_v with_o water_n moreover_o the_o daily_a example_n of_o which_o persecute_v the_o word_n with_o open_a tyranny_n but_o such_o also_o as_o be_v even_o amongst_o we_o &_o at_o the_o beginning_n seem_v to_o receive_v this_o doctrine_n with_o great_a rejoice_v wherefore_o david_n exhort_v
it_o be_v which_o here_o he_o behold_v signify_v that_o the_o temple_n be_v give_v for_o the_o promise_n sake_n and_o not_o in_o respect_n of_o merit_n or_o desert_n where_o he_o add_v forest_n in_o worship_n of_o god_n here_o the_o devil_n with_o all_o his_o assault_n his_o subtlety_n his_o fury_n and_o his_o lie_n wherewith_o he_o go_v about_o to_o trouble_v and_o vex_v the_o church_n and_o to_o hinder_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n be_v overcome_v verse_n 7._o we_o will_v enter_v into_o his_o tabernacle_n and_o worship_n before_o his_o footstool_n these_o word_n do_v plain_o show_v that_o day_n in_o the_o papacy_n so_o the_o true_a church_n be_v oppress_v of_o tyrant_n oppugn_v of_o false_a brethren_n suffer_v the_o contempt_n and_o hatred_n of_o the_o world_n and_o in_o outward_a appearance_n be_v every_o hour_n ready_a to_o perish_v here_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o the_o godly_a shall_v raise_v up_o themselves_o with_o a_o trust_n in_o the_o mercy_n and_o promise_n of_o god_n for_o to_o this_o end_n the_o promise_n be_v set_v forth_o but_o they_o which_o shall_v believe_v and_o comfort_v themselves_o with_o these_o promise_n do_v it_o not_o for_o the_o infirmity_n they_o be_v touch_v with_o adversity_n they_o most_o miserable_o despair_v but_o the_o godly_a continue_v and_o constant_o endure_v in_o hope_n and_o comfort_n in_o all_o trouble_n and_o calamity_n so_o this_o promise_n as_o touch_v the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n be_v hinder_v many_o and_o sundry_a way_n by_o rebellious_a people_n by_o enemy_n and_o wicked_a king_n until_o at_o the_o last_o the_o city_n and_o the_o temple_n be_v destroy_v the_o people_n carry_v away_o captive_a and_o none_o leave_v but_o plowman_n and_o such_o as_o be_v of_o the_o base_a sort_n now_o the_o word_n the_o worship_n and_o service_n of_o god_n the_o accustom_a judgement_n and_o brief_o the_o church_n the_o policy_n and_o the_o kingdom_n be_v go_v here_o what_o hope_n be_v leave_v that_o there_o shall_v remain_v any_o posterity_n unto_o david_n as_o this_o psalm_n here_o promise_v this_o promise_n therefore_o be_v necessary_a that_o thereby_o the_o godly_a may_v be_v able_a to_o comfort_v of_o god_n and_o exercise_v his_o tyranny_n as_o though_o he_o will_v utter_o oppress_v the_o church_n for_o these_o promise_v god_n leave_v with_o his_o church_n that_o in_o such_o necessity_n and_o danger_n it_o shall_v not_o be_v without_o comfort_n which_o promise_v albeit_o the_o church_n can_v not_o full_o and_o perfect_o believe_v yet_o do_v it_o not_o deny_v or_o reject_v the_o same_o and_o christ_n accept_v and_o commend_v our_o faith_n although_o it_o be_v no_o more_o than_o a_o grain_n of_o mustard_n feed_v this_o to_o know_v &_o this_o to_o teach_v it_o be_v necessary_a for_o the_o time_n will_v come_v if_o we_o be_v not_o prevent_v by_o the_o late_a day_n when_o satan_n by_o his_o minister_n with_o might_n and_o main_a will_v attempt_v all_o the_o mean_v he_o can_v to_o yet_o must_v we_o trust_v that_o god_n will_v give_v we_o prophet_n and_o that_o his_o church_n although_o it_o seem_v to_o be_v utter_o forsake_v he_o will_v never_o for_o forsake_v for_o the_o word_n of_o god_n who_o promise_n we_o have_v aught_o to_o move_v we_o more_o than_o the_o present_a danger_n seem_v it_o never_o so_o terrible_a for_o if_o god_n through_o much_o patience_n do_v preserve_v his_o church_n under_o the_o papacy_n if_o he_o suffer_v many_o abuse_n which_o blind_a guide_n and_o wicked_a teacher_n bring_v into_o the_o church_n if_o at_o the_o length_n when_o all_o thing_n be_v desperate_a and_o past_a all_o hope_n he_o cause_v the_o light_n of_o his_o word_n to_o shine_v in_o the_o mid_n of_o most_o horrible_a darkness_n why_o shall_v we_o despair_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n be_v great_a than_o heaven_n and_o earth_n &_o be_v able_a to_o swallow_v up_o all_o error_n into_o the_o which_o the_o very_a elect_a by_o false_a prophet_n blind_a teacher_n and_o the_o iniquity_n of_o time_n be_v often_o time_n lead_v there_o be_v no_o man_n which_o will_v not_o wish_v for_o peace_n and_o quietness_n in_o the_o common_a wealth_n and_o in_o the_o people_n obedience_n and_o godliness_n so_o be_v it_o to_o be_v wish_v that_o in_o the_o church_n there_o may_v be_v unity_n and_o concord_n promise_n and_o that_o there_o may_v be_v no_o offence_n either_o in_o doctrine_n or_o life_n that_o prince_n and_o magistrate_n will_v not_o hate_v or_o persecute_v but_o like_v love_n &_o embrace_v the_o word_n notwithstanding_o such_o a_o common_a wealth_n and_o such_o a_o church_n may_v well_o be_v paint_v out_o of_o a_o cunning_a artificer_n but_o in_o this_o world_n they_o can_v never_o yet_o be_v find_v wherefore_o let_v we_o not_o look_v to_o see_v the_o enter_v into_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n trust_v upon_o his_o own_o righteousness_n and_o yet_o they_o teach_v not_o command_v and_o exhort_v other_o so_o to_o do_v but_o we_o teach_v a_o contrary_a doctrine_n lead_v the_o church_n from_o this_o false_a trust_n to_o a_o trust_n and_o confidence_n in_o the_o merit_n and_o death_n of_o christ_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n they_o condemn_v we_o as_o heretic_n be_v not_o this_o extreme_a malice_n they_o will_v not_o do_v themselves_o that_o they_o teach_v other_o to_o do_v for_o when_o death_n come_v they_o dare_v not_o trust_v to_o their_o own_o merit_n and_o yet_o will_v they_o force_v other_o so_o to_o do_v or_o most_o cruel_o condemn_v they_o for_o heretic_n thus_o we_o be_v teach_v by_o the_o experience_n of_o all_o such_o as_o be_v not_o utter_o void_a of_o understanding_n that_o no_o man_n live_v overcome_v by_o his_o own_o work_n or_o righteousness_n in_o god_n sight_n and_o yet_o the_o whole_a nature_n of_o man_n when_o it_o be_v not_o under_o tentation_n still_o look_v unto_o work_n and_o seek_v mean_n how_o it_o may_v by_o they_o please_v god_n but_o here_o be_v set_v forth_o unto_o we_o a_o simple_a and_o a_o plain_a doctrine_n if_o thou_o lord_n will_v mark_v what_o be_v do_v amiss_o none_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o abide_v it_o who_o will_v then_o desire_v to_o enter_v into_o judgement_n that_o he_o may_v be_v overcome_v condemn_v &_o cast_v away_o for_o ever_o this_o be_v therefore_o the_o sum_n and_o effect_n of_o all_o together_o god._n that_o we_o all_o david_n peter_n paul_n etc_n etc_n be_v bear_v that_o we_o be_v that_o we_o live_v and_o we_o die_v sinner_n but_o this_o be_v our_o glory_n our_o health_n and_o safety_n that_o when_o by_o the_o gospel_n we_o be_v instruct_v of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o merit_n of_o christ_n we_o leap_v over_o the_o bound_n of_o the_o law_n and_o out_o of_o our_o own_o work_n as_o it_o be_v into_o a_o other_o world_n and_o into_o a_o new_a light_n and_o come_v unto_o god_n with_o boldness_n we_o say_v oh_o lord_n we_o can_v not_o contend_v with_o thou_o in_o judgement_n we_o can_v not_o dispute_v with_o thou_o as_o touch_v our_o
