V. 28 And when he was come to the other side into the countrey of the Gergesenes Mr. Mark V. 2 And when he was come out of the ship L Luke Ch. 8 V. 26 to land M Matth. V. 28 there met him two possessed with devils coming out of the tombes exceeding fierce so that no man might passe by that way Matth. V. 29 And behold they cried out saying What have we to do with thee Jesus thou Sonne of God art thou come hither to torment us before the time Mr. Mark V. 2 Immediately I say there met him out of the tombes a man with an unclean spirit L Luke V. 27 a certain man out of the citie which had devils long time and ware no clothes neither abode in any house but Mr. Mark V. 3 had his dwelling among the tombes and no man could binde him no not with chains Mark V. 4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains and the chains had been plucked asunder by him and the fetters broken in pieces neither could any man tame him

V. 9 and cast it from thee Mr. Mark V. 47 it is better for thee to enter into the kingdome of God with one eye then having two eyes to be cast into hell fire Mark V. 48 Where their worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched Mark V. 49 For every one shall be salted with fire and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt Mark V. 50 Salt is good but if the salt have lost his saltnesse wherewith will you season it Have salt in your selves and have peace one with another M Matth. Christ is entertained by Martha L Luke V. 38 NOw it came to passe as they went that he entred into a certain village and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house And she had a sister called Mary Luke Ch. 10 V. 39 which also sat at Jesus feet and heard his word Luke V. 40 But Martha was cumbred about much serving and came to him and said Lord dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone bid her therefore that she help me Luke V. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her Martha Martha thou art carefull and troubled about many things Luke V. 42 But one thing is needfull and Mary hath chosen that good part which shall not be taken away from her CHAP. CVII Christ teacheth his disciples a form of prayer The efficacie of prayer L Luke Ch. 11 V. 1 ANd it came to passe that as he was praying in a certain place when he ceased one of his disciples said unto him Lord teach us to pray as John also taught his disciples Luke V. 2 And he said unto them When ye pray say * Matth. Ch. 6 V. 9 Our Father which art in heaven Hallowed be thy name Thy kingdome come Thy will be done as in heaven so in earth Give us day by day our daily bread Luke V. 3 And forgive us our sinnes Luke V. 4 for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us And leade us not into temptation but deliver us from evil Luke V. 5 And he said unto them Which of you shall have a friend and shall go unto him at midnight and say unto him Friend lend me three loaves Luke V. 6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me and I have nothing to set before him Luke V. 7 And he from within shall answer and say Trouble me not the doore is now shut and my children are with me in bed I cannot rise and give thee I say unto you Luke V. 8 Though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend yet because of his importunitie he will rise and give him as many as be needeth * Matth. Ch. 7 V. 7 Luke Ch. 11 V. 9 And I say unto you Ask and it shall be given you seek and ye shall finde knock and it shall be opened unto you For every one that asketh receiveth Luke V. 10 and he that seeketh findeth and to him that knocketh it shall be opened Luke V. 11 If a sonne shall ask bread of any of you that is a father will he give him a stone or if he ask a fish will he for a fish give him a ferpent Or if he shall ask an egge Luke V. 12 will he offer him a scorpion If ye then Luke V. 13 being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children how much more shall your heavenly Father give the holy Spirit to them that ask him CHAP. CVIII Christ casts out a devil and confirms it to be done by divine power L Luke V. 14 * Matth. Ch. 12 V. 22 ANd he was casting out a devil and it was dumbe And it came to passe when the devil was gone out the dumbe spake and the people wondred But some of them said * Matth. Ch. 9 V. 34 Ch. 12 V. 24 Luke V. 15 He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils And other tempting him Luke V. 16 sought of him a signe from heaven Luke V. 17 But he knowing their thoughts said unto them Every kingdome divided against it self is brought to desolation and a house divided against a house falleth Luke V. 18 If Satan also be divided against himself how shall his kingdome stand because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub Luke V. 19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils by whom do your sonnes cast them out therefore shall they be your judges Luke V. 20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils no doubt the kingdome of God is come upon you Luke V. 21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace his goods are in peace Luke Ch. 11 V. 22 But when a stronger then he shall come upon him and overcome him he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted and divideth his spoils He that is not with me Luke V. 23 is against me and he that gathereth not with me scattereth * Matth. Ch. 12 V. 43 Luke V. 24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man he walketh through drie places seeking rest and finding none he suith I will return unto my house whence I came out Luke V. 25 And when he cometh he findeth it swept and garnished Luke V. 26 Then goeth he and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked then himself and they enter in and dwell there and the last state of that man is worse then the first Luke V. 27 And it came to passe as he spake these things a certain woman of the companie lift up her voice and said unto him Blessed is the wombe that bare thee and the paps which thou hast sucked But he said Yea Luke V. 28 rather blessed are they that heare the word of God and keep it * Matth. Ch. 12 V. 38 And when the people were gathered thick together Luke V. 29 he began to say This is an evil generation they seek a signe and there shall no signe be given it but the signe of Jonas the prophet Luke V. 30 For as Jonas was a signe unto the Ninevites so shall also the Sonne of man be to this generation Luke V. 31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgement with the men of this generation condemne them for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to heare the wisdome of Solomon and behold a greater then Solomon is here Luke V. 32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgement with this generation and shall condemne it for they repented at the preaching of Jonas and behold a greater then Jonas is here * Matth. An exhortation to a vigilant expectation of the kingdome of heaven Let your loyns be girded about Luke V. 35 and your lights burning Luke V. 36 And ye your selves like unto men that wait for their Lord when he will return from the wedding that when he cometh and knocketh they may open unto him immediately Luke V. 37 Blessed are those servants whom the Lord when he cometh shall finde watching verily I say unto you that he shall gird himself and make them to sit down to meat and will come forth and serve them And if he shall come in the second watch Luke V. 38 or come in the third watch and finde them so blessed are those servants * Matth. CXI An exhortation to repentance because of Gods patience The parable of the barren fig-tree L Luke Ch. 13 V. 1 THere were present at that season some that told him of the Galileans whose bloud Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices Luke V. 2 And Jesus answering said unto them Suppose ye that these Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans because they suffered such things I tell you Nay Luke V. 3 but except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and slew them Luke V. 4 think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem I tell you Nay but except ye repent Luke V. 5 ye shall all likewise perish He spake also this parable Luke V. 6 A certain man had a fig-tree planted in his vineyard and he came and sought fruit thereon and found none Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard Luke Ch. 13 V. 7 Behold these three yeares I

V. 23 Verily I say unto you that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdome of heaven Mr. Mark V. 24 And the disciples were astonished at his words But Jesus answereth again and saith unto them Children how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdome of God! M Matth. V. 24 And again I say unto you It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then for a rich man to enter into the kingdome of God Matth. V. 28 unto them Verily I say unto you that ye which have followed me in the regeneration when the Sonne of man shall sit in the throne of his glorie ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones Matth. V. 25 Wo unto you Scribes and Pharisees hypocrites for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter but within they are full of extortion and excesse Matth. V. 29 Wo unto you Scribes and Pharisees hypocrites because ye build the tombes of the prophets and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous Matth. V. 30 And say If we had been in the dayes of our fathers we would not have been partakers with them in the bloud of the prophets Matth. V. 31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto your selves that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers Matth. V. 34 I send unto you prophets and wise men and Scribes and some of them ye shall kill and crucifie and some of them shall ye scourge in your Synagogues and persecute them from citie to citie Matth. V. 35 That upon you may come all the righteous bloud shed upon the earth from the bloud of righteous Abel unto the bloud of Zacharias sonne of Barachias whom ye slew between the temple and the altar Matth.
