be_v pretend_v that_o infant_n be_v to_o be_v exclude_v form_n this_o sacrament_n ad_fw-la 14._o now_o as_o for_o the_o little_a thing_n which_o the_o anab._n murmur_n against_o the_o first_o essay_n of_o this_o argument_n they_o will_v quick_o disappear_v for_o whereas_o he_o say_v it_o be_v a_o better_a argument_n to_o say_v that_o christ_n bless_a child_n and_o so_o dismiss_v they_o but_o to_o which_o the_o sacrament_n be_v appoint_v without_o the_o act_n of_o believe_v than_o so_o also_o they_o may_v the_o mean_n but_o for_o what_o end_n to_o what_o purpose_n do_v they_o detain_v the_o water_n when_o they_o can_v keep_v back_o the_o spirit_n and_o why_o will_v they_o keep_v they_o from_o the_o church_n when_o they_o can_v keep_v they_o from_o god_n and_o why_o do_v man_n require_v hard_a condition_n of_o be_v baptize_v then_o of_o be_v save_v and_o then_o that_o god_n will_v by_o other_o mean_n bring_v they_o to_o heaven_n if_o they_o have_v not_o baptism_n be_v difference_v by_o age_n they_o be_v also_o difference_v by_o correspondent_a accidental_a and_o proportionable_a duty_n but_o all_o must_v be_v bear_v again_o this_o birth_n be_v express_v here_o by_o water_n and_o the_o spirit_n that_o be_v by_o the_o spirit_n in_o baptismal_a water_n for_o that_o be_v in_o scripture_n call_v the_o laver_n of_o a_o new_a birth_n or_o regeneration_n ad_fw-la 18._o if_o they_o signify_v two_o thing_n as_o certain_o they_o do_v than_o they_o may_v as_o well_o signify_v the_o sign_n and_o the_o thing_n signify_v as_o the_o cause_n and_o the_o effect_n or_o they_o may_v mean_v the_o sacrament_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o sacrament_n as_o it_o be_v most_o agreeable_a to_o the_o whole_a analogy_n of_o the_o gospel_n for_o we_o be_v sure_a that_o christ_n ordain_v baptism_n and_o it_o be_v also_o certain_a that_o in_o baptism_n he_o do_v give_v the_o spirit_n and_o therefore_o to_o confound_v these_o two_o be_v to_o no_o purpose_n when_o several_o they_o have_v their_o certain_a meaning_n and_o the_o law_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o whole_a church_n the_o institution_n and_o the_o practice_n of_o baptism_n make_v they_o two_o term_n of_o a_o relation_n a_o sign_n and_o a_o thing_n signify_v the_o sacrament_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o sacrament_n for_o i_o offer_v it_o to_o the_o consideration_n of_o any_o man_n that_o believe_v christ_n to_o have_v ordain_v the_o sacrament_n of_o baptism_n which_o be_v most_o agreeable_a to_o the_o institution_n of_o christ_n that_o by_o water_n and_o the_o spirit_n shall_v be_v mean_v the_o outward_a element_n and_o inward_a grace_n or_o that_o by_o water_n and_o spirit_n shall_v be_v mean_v only_o the_o spirit_n cleanse_v we_o like_o water_n but_o suppose_v it_o do_v mean_a so_o what_o will_v be_v effect_v or_o persuade_v by_o it_o more_o than_o by_o the_o other_o if_o it_o be_v say_v that_o then_o infant_n by_o this_o place_n be_v not_o oblige_v to_o baptism_n i_o reply_v that_o yet_o they_o be_v oblige_v to_o new_a birth_n nevertheless_o they_o must_v be_v bear_v again_o of_o the_o spirit_n if_o not_o of_o water_n and_o the_o spirit_n and_o if_o they_o be_v bind_v to_o be_v regenerate_v by_o the_o spirit_n why_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v baptize_v with_o water_n which_o be_v the_o symbol_n and_o sacrament_n the_o vehiculum_fw-la and_o channel_n of_o its_o ordinary_a conveyance_n i_o profess_v i_o can_v understand_v how_o to_o make_v a_o reasonable_a conjecture_n but_o it_o may_v be_v they_o mean_v that_o if_o by_o water_n and_o the_o spirit_n indispensable_a necessity_n and_o if_o infant_n be_v not_o oblige_v to_o it_o then_o by_o their_o natural_a birth_n they_o go_v to_o heaven_n or_o not_o at_o all_o but_o if_o infant_n must_v be_v bear_v again_o then_o either_o let_v these_o adversary_n show_v any_o other_o way_n of_o new_a birth_n but_o this_o of_o water_n and_o the_o spirit_n or_o let_v they_o acknowledge_v this_o to_o to_o the_o miraculous_a descent_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o the_o likeness_n of_o tongue_n of_o fire_n but_o this_o concern_v not_o all_o for_o all_o be_v not_o so_o baptize_v and_o whereas_o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o objection_n that_o the_o baptist_n tell_v not_o christ_n disciple_n but_o the_o jew_n and_o that_o therefore_o it_o be_v intend_v to_o relate_v to_o all_o it_o be_v well_o observe_v but_o to_o no_o purpose_n for_o christ_n at_o that_o time_n have_v no_o

because_o the_o baptist_n offer_v it_o as_o a_o sign_n and_o testimony_n of_o the_o prelation_n and_o greatness_n of_o christ_n above_o he_o which_o can_v not_o be_v prove_v to_o they_o by_o any_o
