they_o understand_v the_o last_o word_n of_o the_o forego_n verse_n and_o elijah_n depart_v that_o be_v he_o immediate_o vanish_v away_o and_o that_o this_o it_o be_v that_o so_o affright_a the_o messenger_n that_o they_o dare_v not_o go_v on_o in_o their_o journey_n but_o i_o rather_o think_v with_o other_o that_o elijah_n tell_v they_o the_o secret_a message_n which_o they_o be_v send_v about_o and_o his_o foretell_v the_o king_n death_n make_v they_o incline_v to_o think_v he_o be_v a_o prophet_n and_o thereupon_o to_o return_v present_o to_o the_o king_n that_o send_v they_o verse_n 8._o and_o they_o answer_v he_o he_o be_v a_o hairy_a man_n etc._n etc._n this_o may_v be_v mean_v either_o that_o elijah_n have_v much_o hair_n on_o his_o head_n or_o face_n or_o else_o what_o bold_a message_n you_o please_v to_o your_o king_n know_v that_o the_o king_n by_o i_o command_v you_o to_o come_v down_o and_o if_o you_o obey_v not_o his_o command_n here_o i_o have_v those_o that_o will_v fetch_v you_o down_o verse_n 10._o if_o i_o be_v a_o man_n of_o god_n then_o let_v fire_n come_v down_o from_o heaven_n etc._n etc._n if_o i_o be_v indeed_o a_o man_n of_o god_n as_o you_o only_o term_v i_o in_o scorn_n and_o derision_n let_v it_o be_v manifest_a in_o the_o come_n of_o that_o to_o pass_v which_o i_o now_o foretell_v even_o that_o fire_n may_v come_v down_o from_o heaven_n and_o consume_v thou_o and_o thy_o fifty_o this_o he_o denounce_v against_o they_o out_o of_o a_o singular_a zeal_n for_o god_n glory_n and_o by_o a_o special_a instinct_n of_o god_n spirit_n and_o therefore_o when_o the_o disciple_n of_o christ_n out_o of_o a_o carnal_a desire_n of_o revenge_n will_v have_v imitate_v this_o act_n of_o elijah_n they_o be_v reprove_v by_o our_o saviour_n the_o rather_o because_o they_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o be_v call_v to_o preach_v be_v more_o especial_o to_o show_v all_o meekness_n and_o gentleness_n to_o man_n and_o to_o desire_v rather_o to_o save_v then_o to_o destroy_v luke_n 9.54_o 55._o and_o when_o his_o disciple_n james_n and_o john_n see_v this_o they_o say_v lord_z will_v thou_o that_o we_o command_v fire_n to_o come_v down_o from_o heaven_n and_o consume_v they_o even_o as_o elias_n do_v but_o he_o turn_v and_o rebuke_v they_o and_o say_v you_o know_v not_o what_o manner_n of_o spirit_n you_o be_v of_o etc._n etc._n verse_n 11._o o_o man_n of_o god_n thus_o have_v the_o king_n say_v come_v down_o quick_o to_o express_v his_o bold_a resolution_n and_o that_o he_o fear_v not_o to_o execute_v the_o king_n command_n because_o of_o that_o terrible_a end_n which_o befall_v the_o former_a captain_n and_o his_o fifty_o he_o not_o only_o enjoin_v the_o prophet_n to_o come_v down_o but_o press_v he_o also_o to_o do_v it_o speedy_o as_o imply_v that_o he_o will_v not_o be_v delay_v but_o will_v drag_v he_o down_o by_o force_n if_o he_o will_v not_o yield_v instant_o verse_n 13._o and_o the_o three_o captain_n of_o fifty_o go_v up_o and_o come_v and_o fall_v on_o his_o knee_n before_o elijah_n etc._n etc._n though_o he_o have_v not_o so_o much_o faith_n and_o courage_n and_o goodness_n in_o he_o as_o to_o dissuade_v the_o king_n from_o send_v again_o or_o to_o refuse_v to_o obey_v his_o command_n yet_o out_o of_o the_o fear_n of_o that_o vengeance_n that_o fall_v upon_o those_o that_o be_v send_v before_o he_o humble_v himself_o before_o the_o prophet_n and_o sue_v to_o he_o to_o spare_v their_o life_n verse_n 16._o thou_o shall_v not_o come_v down_o off_o that_o bed_n on_o which_o thou_o be_v go_v up_o etc._n etc._n we_o read_v not_o of_o any_o violence_n that_o the_o king_n offer_v to_o the_o prophet_n when_o he_o be_v come_v to_o he_o though_o thus_o bold_o he_o
