as_o for_o the_o gain_v of_o a_o world_n no_o one_o be_v witting_o and_o willing_o to_o be_v commit_v which_o account_n i_o doubt_v whether_o man_n of_o other_o sect_n and_o religion_n do_v make_v or_o no_o so_o as_o though_o already_o i_o persuade_v myself_o that_o
lie_v 26._o another_o example_n most_o manifest_a be_v in_o the_o four_o 6._o book_n of_o the_o king_n where_o the_o king_n of_o syria_n send_v certain_a captain_n with_o force_n to_o apprehend_v the_o prophet_n elizeus_fw-la elizeus_fw-la in_o the_o city_n of_o dothaim_n he_o go_v forth_o of_o the_o city_n and_o meet_v with_o the_o say_a captain_n they_o not_o know_v he_o say_v unto_o they_o non_fw-la est_fw-la haec_fw-la via_fw-la neque_fw-la ista_fw-la est_fw-la civitas_fw-la sequimini_fw-la i_o &_o ostendam_fw-la virum_fw-la quem_fw-la quaeritis_fw-la this_o be_v not_o the_o way_n to_o dothaim_n nor_o be_v this_o that_o city_n but_o do_v you_o follow_v i_o and_o i_o will_v show_v unto_o you_o the_o man_n who_o you_o seek_v for_o and_o so_o they_o do_v and_o he_o lead_v they_o into_o the_o midst_n of_o samaria_n where_o the_o king_n of_o israel_n his_o army_n might_n and_o will_v have_v destroy_v they_o if_o the_o say_a prophet_n have_v permit_v so_o as_o this_o stratagem_n also_o contain_v the_o exterior_a show_n of_o a_o great_a untruth_n and_o falsehood_n can_v be_v dein_v to_o have_v be_v lawful_a in_o this_o prophet_n as_o appear_v by_o the_o concurrence_n of_o god_n with_o diverse_a miracle_n in_o the_o same_o 27._o the_o like_a may_v be_v show_v out_o of_o the_o example_n of_o 11._o judith_n who_o by_o the_o instinct_n of_o almighty_a god_n and_o his_o plain_a ordinance_n as_o the_o scripture_n say_v be_v send_v to_o holoforne_n who_o tell_v he_o a_o long_a narration_n of_o many_o judith_n thing_n that_o in_o event_n and_o outward_a show_n be_v not_o true_a as_o that_o he_o shall_v get_v not_o only_a 〈◊〉_d but_o jerusalem_n also_o and_o conquer_v the_o whole_a nation_n of_o the_o jew_n add_v thereunto_o this_o asseveration_n et_fw-la misit_fw-la i_o dominus_fw-la haec_fw-la nunciare_fw-la tibi_fw-la and_o our_o lord_n have_v send_v i_o to_o tell_v you_o these_o thing_n by_o which_o stratagem_n as_o you_o know_v she_o deliver_v her_o whole_a country_n from_o the_o force_n of_o the_o say_v holofernes_n which_o otherwise_o have_v be_v like_o to_o have_v destroy_v they_o 28._o and_o thus_o much_o in_o this_o place_n for_o stratagem_n in_o war_n but_o for_o other_o example_n great_a number_n may_v be_v allege_v wherein_o some_o equivocation_n must_v needs_o be_v admit_v though_o no_o lie_n as_o that_o of_o the_o angel_n appear_v 〈◊〉_d to_o toby_n the_o elder_a who_o be_v take_v by_o he_o to_o be_v a_o man_n and_o demand_v of_o what_o family_n or_o tribe_n he_o equivocation_n be_v he_o say_v ego_fw-la sum_fw-la azarias_n ananiae_fw-la magni_fw-la silius_fw-la i_o be_o azarias_n the_o son_n of_o the_o great_a ananias_n whereunto_o toby_n answer_v ex_fw-la magno_fw-la genere_fw-la tu_fw-la es_fw-la you_o be_v of_o a_o great_a stock_n indeed_o which_o yet_o be_v not_o so_o in_o the_o understanding_n of_o the_o speaker_n and_o consequent_o here_o must_v be_v confess_v a_o evident_a equivocation_n or_o amphibology_n of_o speech_n whereby_o the_o hearer_n be_v deceive_v and_o not_o unlike_a to_o this_o be_v that_o speech_n of_o our_o saviour_n when_o stand_v in_o the_o temple_n he_o use_v to_o the_o jew_n demand_v of_o the_o material_a temple_n of_o jerusalem_n and_o so_o to_o their_o sense_n it_o seem_v 27._o that_o he_o speak_v for_o 〈◊〉_d cause_n they_o accuse_v he_o afterward_o very_o solemn_o thereof_o at_o this_o passion_n and_o insult_v against_o he_o for_o the_o same_o upon_o the_o cross_n ergo_fw-la equivocation_n may_v not_o always_o be_v condemn_v for_o lie_v as_o our_o minister_n avouch_v 29._o i_o pretermit_v diverse_a other_o speech_n of_o our_o saviour_n of_o like_a quality_n as_o that_o when_o he_o say_v to_o his_o brethren_n 7._o ego_fw-la non_fw-la ascendam_fw-la ad_fw-la stand_v the_o equivocation_n of_o his_o 〈◊〉_d but_o his_o brethren_n understand_v not_o his_o meaning_n for_o if_o they_o have_v no_o doubt_n they_o will_v not_o have_v go_v up_o without_o he_o ergo_fw-la one_o sense_n be_v understand_v by_o the_o speaker_n and_o another_o by_o the_o hearer_n which_o we_o shall_v afterward_o show_v to_o be_v proper_o equivocation_n and_o yet_o no_o lie_n trouble_n be_v for_o defend_v the_o resurrection_n of_o christ_n and_o our_o hope_n of_o resurrection_n by_o he_o yet_o be_v it_o not_o so_o then_o in_o the_o understanding_n of_o the_o hearer_n who_o
