the_o second_o inward_a virtue_n be_v the_o hope_n that_o by_o faith_n we_o shall_v have_v of_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n upon_o our_o true_a humility_n but_o labour_v to_o be_v further_v in_o by_o this_o outward_a exercise_n of_o fast_v and_o to_o which_o end_n we_o do_v undertake_v it_o and_o which_o also_o we_o must_v open_o profess_v be_v a_o assurance_n &_o full_a hope_n that_o god_n for_o christ_n his_o sake_n upon_o our_o true_a repentance_n for_o our_o sin_n and_o unfeigned_a humiliation_n for_o they_o and_o forsake_v of_o they_o will_v pardon_v they_o all_o and_o will_v give_v we_o all_o those_o thing_n that_o we_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o and_o we_o then_o make_v humble_a suit_n unto_o he_o for_o so_o then_o this_o be_v also_o another_o thing_n that_o as_o at_o all_o other_o time_n so_o most_o of_o all_o in_o the_o day_n of_o fast_o we_o must_v labour_v after_o even_o a_o increase_n of_o faith_n whereby_o we_o may_v be_v raise_v up_o in_o our_o soul_n through_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n as_o high_a as_o the_o conscience_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o the_o deserve_a punishment_n of_o they_o do_v cast_v we_o down_o and_o a_o full_a persuasion_n that_o we_o shall_v obtain_v the_o remove_n of_o those_o evil_n through_o the_o death_n &_o merit_n of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n which_o either_o present_o press_v we_o or_o just_o hang_v over_o our_o head_n for_o as_o true_a repentance_n humble_v we_o and_o as_o it_o be_v cast_v we_o down_o with_o one_o hand_n both_o in_o sorrow_n for_o our_o sin_n and_o confession_n of_o the_o same_o leave_v we_o not_o in_o that_o downfall_n lest_o we_o shall_v despair_v but_o gracious_o reach_v the_o other_o hand_n to_o lift_v we_o up_o again_o and_o this_o be_v the_o right_a end_n of_o all_o true_a humility_n not_o to_o dismay_v we_o but_o to_o comfort_v we_o with_o the_o hope_n of_o god_n favour_n even_o from_o thence_o as_o it_o be_v say_v humble_a yourselves_o under_o the_o mighty_a hand_n of_o god_n â—5_n 1._o pet._n 5._o â—5_n that_o he_o may_v exalt_v you_o in_o due_a time_n and_o again_o he_o resist_v the_o proud_a but_o give_v grace_n to_o the_o humble_a so_o this_o solemn_a profession_n of_o humility_n in_o fast_v and_o prayer_n much_o more_o do_v and_o must_v so_o cast_v we_o down_o and_o abase_v we_o in_o the_o conscience_n of_o our_o unwoorthinesse_n even_o of_o the_o least_o of_o god_n benefit_n open_o in_o our_o practice_n by_o bereave_v ourselves_o of_o they_o for_o a_o time_n profess_v so_o much_o as_o that_o it_o do_v give_v we_o so_o much_o the_o more_o hope_n of_o favour_n from_o god_n by_o how_o much_o we_o do_v then_o more_o than_o ordinary_o judge_v ourselves_o so_o that_o here_o be_v another_o thing_n to_o be_v further_v in_o by_o this_o outward_a abstinence_n namely_o mind_n in_o which_o wâ—_n must_v be_v further_v by_o the_o inward_a and_o outward_a affliction_n of_o the_o body_n and_o the_o mind_n that_o we_o may_v have_v a_o great_a hope_n and_o assurance_n then_o before_o that_o god_n for_o christ_n sake_n will_v be_v merciful_a unto_o we_o because_o we_o do_v according_a to_o his_o commandment_n more_o humble_a ourselves_o then_o before_o not_o for_o the_o merit_n or_o worthiness_n of_o that_o but_o because_o of_o the_o gracious_a promise_n which_o of_o his_o free_a mercy_n he_o have_v make_v to_o all_o those_o that_o thus_o turn_v unto_o he_o and_o unfeigned_o seek_v he_o for_o as_o the_o abstinence_n without_o this_o humiliation_n be_v nothing_o worth_a so_o be_v the_o cast_v down_o of_o ourselves_o in_o the_o sight_n and_o feel_n of_o our_o sin_n &_o our_o unworthiness_n for_o the_o same_o of_o no_o value_n or_o profit_n without_o this_o hope_n in_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o as_o this_o abstinence_n must_v bring_v we_o to_o this_o contrition_n of_o heart_n so_o that_o must_v further_o we_o in_o our_o hope_n and_o therefore_o unto_o this_o abstinence_n there_o have_v be_v always_o adjoin_v as_o a_o thing_n inseparable_a supplication_n &_o prayer_n which_o can_v be_v at_o all_o in_o any_o acceptable_a manner_n without_o some_o hope_n and_o assurance_n from_o god_n that_o we_o shall_v be_v hear_v prayer_n and_o therefore_o fast_v be_v never_o without_o prayer_n as_o then_o in_o all_o manner_n of_o fast_n we_o must_v first_o clear_o see_v our_o sin_n confess_v they_o unfeigned_o and_o thorough_o judge_v ourselves_o for_o they_o so_o must_v we_o then_o also_o with_o good_a hope_n in_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n for_o christ_n sake_n pray_v earnest_o for_o the_o full_a pardon_n and_o forgiveness_n of_o they_o and_o for_o the_o turn_n away_o or_o remove_v from_o we_o all_o heavy_a judgement_n which_o be_v due_a to_o we_o or_o upon_o we_o for_o the_o same_o so_o that_o this_o be_v a_o other_o thing_n require_v of_o we_o in_o the_o day_n of_o fast_v which_o we_o now_o keep_v and_o to_o which_o end_n we_o do_v abstain_v as_o we_o do_v even_o that_o with_o great_a hope_n upon_o our_o great_a humiliation_n we_o may_v pray_v to_o god_n to_o remove_v from_o our_o brethren_n this_o heavy_a hand_n of_o he_o that_o have_v a_o long_a time_n lie_v sore_o upon_o god_n warn_v we_o of_o his_o judgement_n by_o they_o and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v have_v believe_v they_o and_o so_o have_v seek_v heretofore_o by_o fast_v and_o prayer_n to_o have_v these_o
