law_n nor_o do_v the_o deed_n and_o work_n of_o the_o same_o in_o the_o pure_a and_o clean_a estate_n as_o the_o law_n require_v they_o to_o be_v do_v according_a to_o the_o purity_n of_o the_o same_o therefore_o the_o law_n can_v pronunce_v none_o just_a before_o god_n general_n this_o word_n justice_n or_o rightuousnesse_n general_o by_o the_o philosopher_n be_v take_v common_o for_o the_o obedience_n and_o outward_a honesty_n according_a to_o all_o virtue_n of_o moral_a manner_n the_o which_o a_o man_n may_v do_v and_o perform_v of_o his_o own_o power_n and_o strength_n this_o be_v call_v a_o universal_a or_o general_a justice_n after_o the_o philosophical_a definition_n the_o same_o s._n pau._n call_v the_o righttuousnesse_n of_o the_o law_n or_o work_n because_o the_o transgressor_n of_o this_o justice_n be_v punish_v as_o wicked_a and_o unrighteous_a for_o who_o the_o law_n be_v make_v and_o ordinate_a as_o saint_n paul_n say_v 1._o timoth._n the_o first_o chap._n for_o the_o just_a need_v no_o law_n these_o moral_a manner_n and_o discipline_n be_v the_o most_o excellent_a raiment_n or_o habit_n wherewith_o man_n may_v be_v clad_v nevertheless_o they_o can_v not_o make_v a_o man_n just_a before_o god_n nor_o be_v not_o the_o justice_n which_o we_o speak_v of_o here_o in_o this_o treatise_n the_o politic_a or_o civil_a justice_n be_v the_o obedience_n which_o every_o subject_n and_o inferior_a estate_n of_o man_n give_v to_o their_o prince_n and_o superior_a in_o all_o the_o world_n the_o which_o proceed_v of_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o be_v this_o corrupt_a nature_n &_o so_o can_v not_o be_v pronounce_v just_a by_o the_o law_n because_o of_o the_o deed_n of_o the_o law_n no_o flesh_n be_v make_v just_a before_o god_n from_o adam_n to_o noah_n from_o noah_n to_o abraham_n and_o from_o abraham_n to_o moses_n endure_v the_o which_o space_n and_o time_n we_o can_v find_v none_o of_o the_o holy_a father_n which_o live_v under_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n pronounce_v just_a by_o the_o deed_n of_o the_o law_n but_o all_o be_v sinner_n and_o transgressor_n of_o the_o law_n as_o adam_n be_v as_o testify_v the_o whole_a history_n of_o gen._n therefore_o the_o justice_n of_o a_o christian_n man_n shall_v we_o not_o find_v in_o the_o law_n because_o of_o the_o deed_n of_o the_o law_n no_o flesh_n be_v find_v just_a before_o god_n moses_n who_o be_v mediator_n between_o god_n and_o his_o people_n of_o israel_n in_o give_v of_o the_o law_n of_o the_o two_o table_n which_o be_v but_o a_o declaration_n of_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n right_o understand_v fulfil_v not_o the_o law_n as_o you_o may_v read_v in_o the_o book_n of_o num._n the_o 20._o chap._n commandment_n where_o moys_fw-fr and_o aaron_n be_v both_o reprehend_v of_o god_n for_o their_o diffidence_n and_o incredulity_n the_o which_o be_v the_o break_n of_o the_o first_o commandment_n of_o god_n and_o a_o great_a and_o weighty_a sin_n howbeit_o our_o life_n and_o manner_n according_a to_o the_o rigour_n of_o thy_o law_n there_o be_v to_o we_o no_o hope_n of_o salvation_n s._n august_n expound_v the_o say_a verse_n say_v there_o be_v no_o man_n live_v upon_o earth_n sin_v except_v in_o this_o cause_n no_o not_o the_o apost_n and_o conclude_v with_o these_o word_n let_v the_o apostle_n say_v and_o pray_v o_o father_n of_o heaven_n may_v abide_v it_o where_o then_o be_v the_o hope_n of_o our_o salvation_n with_o thou_o o_o lord_n for_o the_o help_n and_o satisfaction_n or_o sacrifice_n for_o our_o sin_n be_v with_o thou_o as_o those_o be_v to_o exclude_v work_n forth_o of_o this_o article_n christ._n now_o since_o the_o scripture_n teach_v we_o so_o plain_o that_o christ_n be_v our_o justice_n our_o saviour_n and_o redeamer_n satisfaction_n for_o our_o sin_n the_o end_n and_o consommation_n of_o the_o law_n and_o have_v free_v we_o from_o the_o law_n sin_n and_o death_n and_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o satan_n our_o adversary_n and_o buy_v we_o to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o righteousness_n without_o our_o merit_n or_o deserving_n why_o will_v we_o usurp_v his_o office_n to_o ourselves_o and_o spoil_n christ_n of_o his_o glory_n or_o be_v come_v thrall_n again_o to_o that_o thing_n from_o the_o which_o christ_n have_v free_v us._n glory_n the_o which_o we_o do_v if_o we_o be_v participant_a with_o christ_n in_o the_o make_n of_o ourselves_o just_a or_o mix_v any_o work_n with_o the_o article_n of_o iustication_n the_o xix_o chap._n 1_o as_o the_o good_a tree_n bear_v good_a fruit_n so_o the_o good_a man_n work_v good_a work_n 2_o but_o as_o the_o fruit_n make_v not_o the_o tree_n good_a so_o work_n make_v not_o the_o man_n just_a 3_o for_o as_o the_o tree_n be_v before_o the_o fruit_n so_o the_o man_n be_v just_a before_o the_o work_n be_v good_a 4_o the_o cause_n why_o we_o shall_v work_v good_a work_n 5_o the_o captain_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n his_o subject_n and_o reward_n and_o of_o his_o adversary_n satan_n this_o faith_n which_o only_o justifi_v and_o give_v life_n be_v not_o idle_a nor_o remain_v alone_o nevertheless_o it_o alone_o justifi_v and_o then_o it_o work_v through_o faith_n in_o christ_n 12._o without_o all_o our_o deserve_n then_o shall_v we_o work_v all_o good_a work_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n as_o his_o faithful_a subject_n there_o be_v two_o kingdom_n &_o two_o kind_a of_o subject_n kingdom_n which_o be_v direct_v contrary_a to_o other_o because_o there_o prince_n be_v as_o contrary_a as_o be_v light_a &_o darkness_n nature_n that_o be_v to_o say_v the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o devil_n to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o devil_n man_n be_v of_o his_o own_o nature_n a_o perfect_a subject_n &_o the_o son_n of_o ire_n &_o wrath_n 1._o to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n man_n be_v make_v subject_n through_o his_o second_o birth_n or_o regeneration_n which_o be_v by_o baptism_n in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ._n to_o this_o kingdom_n man_n be_v buy_v neither_o with_o gold_n nor_o silver_n but_o with_o the_o precious_a blood_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n christ_n jesus_n and_o so_o be_v make_v servant_n to_o righteousness_n to_o serve_v unto_o life_n therefore_o who_o be_v make_v just_a by_o faith_n through_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o merit_v of_o christ_n jesus_n mun_o in_o faith_n which_o be_v not_o idle_a but_o ever_o work_v in_o love_n serve_v christ_n and_o embrace_v he_o in_o his_o hart_n then_o shall_v he_o remain_v in_o christ_n &_o christ_n in_o he_o by_o the_o which_o join_v through_o faith_n sin_n shall_v have_v no_o dominion_n nor_o shall_v not_o rule_v as_o a_o prince_n howbeit_o the_o dregs_n remain_v in_o us._n they_o shall_v not_o be_v impute_v to_o we_o if_o the_o devil_n have_v three_o valiant_a captain_n which_o govern_v the_o same_o that_o be_v incredulity_n despair_n and_o envy_n ever_o work_v sin_n and_o unrighteousness_n unto_o death_n satan_n because_o the_o reward_n of_o sin_n be_v death_n in_o this_o kingdom_n sin_n rule_v as_o a_o prince_n have_v dominion_n therefore_o if_o you_o will_v serve_v sin_n and_o obey_v the_o same_o 6._o you_o be_v servant_n to_o that_o thing_n which_o you_o obey_v whither_o it_o be_v of_o sin_n unto_o death_n or_o righteousness_n unto_o life_n but_o christ_n have_v redeam_v we_o and_o buy_v we_o from_o this_o realm_n that_o even_o as_o christ_n have_v rise_v from_o death_n to_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o father_n right_o so_o we_o shall_v live_v in_o a_o new_a life_n and_o let_v not_o sin_n have_v more_o dominion_n over_o us._n there_o be_v no_o man_n so_o foolish_a who_o will_v think_v he_o be_v deliver_v of_o a_o vile_a prison_n by_o the_o grace_n and_o mercy_n of_o a_o great_a prince_n and_o bring_v to_o serve_v in_o his_o hall_n &_o so_o make_v tender_a to_o the_o prince_n that_o he_o be_v make_v participant_a of_o his_o son_n heritage_n will_v say_v i_o will_v pass_v again_o to_o prison_n because_o he_o be_v not_o a_o part_n of_o his_o own_o deliverance_n very_o it_o be_v even_o so_o of_o their_o say_n which_o say_v i_o will_v do_v no_o good_a because_o christ_n have_v deliver_v i_o and_o be_v deliver_v i_o will_v sin_v and_o follow_v all_o liberty_n of_o flesh_n wherefore_o shall_v i_o do_v any_o good_a work_n since_o christ_n have_v redeam_v i_o without_o my_o deserve_n my_o heart_n you_o which_o object_n these_o say_n read_v the_o scripture_n and_o you_o shall_v find_v another_o lesson_n teach_v you_o and_o attend_v upon_o your_o schoolmaster_n which_o be_v the_o holy_a spirit_n who_o shall_v teach_v you_o the_o right_a way_n that_o you_o pass_v neither_o to_o the_o right_a hand_n nor_o to_o the_o wrong_n but_o the_o right_n kingly_a way_n that_o be_v way_n to_o confess_v and_o ever_o have_v prent_v in_o your_o heart_n that_o by_o faith_n only_o of_o the_o mercy_n and_o grace_n of_o god_n you_o be_v make_v safe_a and_o then_o follow_v the_o example_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n give_v your_o whole_a study_n and_o cure_v to_o love_n charity_n and_o all_o manner_n of_o righteous_a live_n to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n &_o profit_n of_o your_o neighbour_n not_o that_o there_o through_o you_o be_v make_v safe_a but_o that_o you_o may_v be_v find_v
thereby_o the_o strentgh_a of_o the_o flesh_n somewhat_o be_v danton_v and_o cease_v to_o rebel_v against_o the_o spirit_n and_o begin_v to_o seek_v god_n who_o be_v a_o peculiar_a father_n to_o the_o faithful_a deliver_v they_o from_o all_o tribulation_n not_o for_o their_o worthiness_n but_o for_o his_o own_o mercy_n worldly_n tribulation_n be_v the_o sign_n and_o token_n of_o god_n love_v albeit_o the_o wicked_a and_o unfaithful_a judge_n otherwise_o which_o in_o time_n of_o tribulation_n run_v from_o god_n seek_v help_n at_o man_n which_o be_v but_o vain_a whereof_o they_o be_v frustrate_a and_o deceive_v fall_v in_o desperation_n the_o sommary_n of_o the_o four_o chapter_n the_o faithful_a thank_v god_n in_o tribulation_n and_o albeit_o our_o wicked_a nature_n teach_v we_o
