honourable_a house_n that_o the_o charge_n of_o those_o crime_n and_o offence_n so_o impose_v on_o he_o by_o the_o say_a impeachment_n be_v so_o general_a and_o uncertain_a that_o he_o can_v possible_o give_v any_o direct_a answer_n thereto_o or_o make_v any_o just_a or_o lawful_a defence_n upon_o his_o trial_n for_o that_o the_o say_a charge_n have_v no_o manner_n of_o certainty_n in_o point_n of_o time_n it_o be_v lay_v only_o for_o many_o year_n now_o last_v pass_v which_o may_v be_v for_o 5_o 10_o 20_o 30_o or_o more_o year_n whereby_o though_o the_o say_a lord_n know_v himself_o to_o be_v altogether_o innocent_a of_o any_o such_o horrid_a and_o detestable_a crime_n as_o by_o the_o say_a impeachment_n be_v object_v against_o he_o yet_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o he_o on_o any_o trial_n thereof_o to_o be_v prepare_v with_o his_o just_a and_o lawful_a defence_n by_o witness_n to_o prove_v himself_o absent_a or_o in_o any_o other_o place_n at_o the_o time_n of_o such_o meeting_n or_o consultation_n to_o or_o for_o any_o of_o the_o wicked_a design_n and_o purpose_n in_o the_o say_a impeachment_n mention_v as_o on_o his_o trial_n may_v be_v sudden_o object_v against_o he_o when_o he_o can_v by_o any_o care_n or_o foresight_n whatever_o have_v such_o witness_n ready_a as_o will_v speak_v thereunto_o if_o they_o be_v certain_o charge_v for_o any_o traitorous_a design_n act_n or_o crime_n at_o any_o time_n certain_o allege_v in_o the_o say_a impeachment_n nor_o be_v the_o say_a charge_n in_o the_o say_a impeachment_n more_o certain_a as_o to_o the_o place_n of_o any_o such_o traitorous_a meeting_n or_o consultation_n lay_v down_o in_o the_o say_a impeachment_n it_o be_v only_o allege_v to_o be_v at_o divers_a place_n in_o this_o realm_n of_o england_n and_o elsewhere_o which_o for_o the_o cause_n aforesaid_a be_v so_o utter_o uncertain_a that_o it_o deprive_v the_o say_a lord_n of_o his_o defence_n on_o his_o trial_n likewise_o the_o uncertainty_n of_o the_o number_n of_o meeting_n or_o consultation_n to_o the_o wicked_a purpose_n in_o the_o impeachment_n and_o the_o not_o show_v how_o many_o time_n the_o lord_n meet_v and_o consult_v and_o with_o who_o in_o particular_a do_v likewise_o deprive_v he_o of_o all_o possibility_n of_o make_v his_o defence_n in_o produce_v witness_n for_o the_o say_a lord_n be_v whole_o innocent_a can_v suppose_v or_o imagine_v what_o meeting_n or_o consultation_n either_o to_o raise_v money_n or_o man_n for_o carry_v on_o of_o a_o traitorous_a design_n or_o to_o any_o other_o wicked_a intent_n or_o purpose_n in_o the_o say_a impeachment_n mention_v shall_v or_o may_v be_v object_v against_o he_o on_o his_o trial_n and_o it_o be_v as_o impossible_a for_o he_o to_o bring_v witness_n to_o prove_v all_o the_o meeting_n he_o have_v have_v with_o other_o in_o his_o life_n time_n as_o it_o be_v for_o he_o to_o foresee_v on_o this_o general_a charge_n what_o meeting_n or_o consultation_n may_v on_o his_o trial_n be_v object_v against_o he_o as_o traitorous_a consultation_n and_o whereas_o it_o be_v in_o the_o say_a impeachment_n charge_v on_o the_o say_a lord_n that_o he_o have_v utter_v treason_n by_o malicious_a and_o advise_v speak_v and_o otherwise_o declare_v the_o same_o the_o say_a lord_n say_v that_o never_o any_o traitorous_a thought_n enter_v into_o his_o heart_n and_o therefore_o can_v possible_o know_v what_o word_n or_o writing_n he_o ever_o speak_v utter_v reveal_v or_o declare_v which_o be_v now_o charge_v on_o he_o as_o treason_n their_o being_n no_o word_n or_o writing_n at_o all_o specify_v in_o the_o impeachment_n whereby_o the_o say_a lord_n may_v know_v how_o to_o prepare_v his_o defence_n against_o they_o so_o as_o this_o honourable_a court_n may_v or_o might_n judge_n whether_o the_o same_o word_n or_o writing_n be_v in_o truth_n treasonable_a or_o not_o all_o which_o incertainty_n and_o eminent_a and_o apparent_a danger_n of_o the_o say_a lord_n be_v there-upon_a surprise_v in_o a_o cause_n of_o this_o consequence_n wherein_o his_o life_n and_o honour_n more_o dear_a to_o he_o than_o his_o life_n and_o all_o else_o that_o be_v dear_a to_o he_o in_o this_o world_n be_v immediate_o concern_v be_v serious_o weigh_v and_o consider_v by_o your_o lordship_n he_o humble_o pray_v as_o by_o his_o council_n he_o be_v advise_v that_o your_o lordship_n will_v not_o put_v he_o to_o answer_v the_o say_a impeachment_n herein_o above_o recite_v till_o the_o same_o be_v reduce_v to_o such_o complete_a certainty_n that_o the_o say_a lord_n
