thing_n but_o purposely_o set_v yourselves_o to_o think_v of_o it_o that_o it_o may_v rouse_v you_o up_o to_o such_o affection_n and_o endeavour_n as_o in_o some_o measure_n be_v answerable_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o thing_n the_o five_o direction_n labour_n to_o have_v a_o lively_a feeling_n on_o thy_o heart_n of_o the_o evil_a and_o weight_n of_o that_o sin_n which_o thou_o be_v guilty_a of_o and_o of_o the_o misery_n into_o which_o it_o have_v bring_v thou_o and_o will_v further_o bring_v thou_o if_o thou_o be_v not_o deliver_v and_o so_o to_o feel_v the_o need_n of_o a_o deliverer_n this_o must_v prepare_v thou_o to_o partake_v of_o christ_n now_o and_o if_o thou_o partake_v not_o of_o he_o now_o thou_o can_v not_o be_v save_v by_o he_o then_o it_o be_v these_o soul_n that_o now_o make_v light_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o misery_n that_o must_v then_o feel_v they_o so_o heavy_a as_o to_o be_v press_v by_o they_o into_o the_o infernal_a flame_n and_o those_o that_o satan_n which_o will_v not_o be_v end_v till_o thy_o life_n do_v end_n if_o any_o thing_n destroy_v thou_o by_o draw_v away_o thy_o heart_n from_o god_n it_o will_v be_v thy_o carnal_a self_n thy_o fleshly_a desire_n and_o the_o allurement_n of_o this_o world_n which_o be_v the_o matter_n that_o they_o feed_v upon_o this_o therefore_o must_v be_v the_o earnest_a work_n of_o thy_o life_n to_o subdue_v this_o flesh_n and_o set_a light_n by_o this_o world_n and_o resist_v the_o devil_n that_o by_o these_o will_v destroy_v thou_o it_o be_v the_o common_a case_n of_o miserable_a hypocrite_n that_o at_o first_o they_o list_v themselves_o under_o christ_n as_o for_o a_o fight_n but_o they_o present_o forget_v their_o state_n and_o work_n and_o when_o they_o be_v once_o in_o their_o own_o conceit_n regenerate_v they_o think_v themselves_o so_o safe_a that_o there_o be_v no_o further_a danger_n and_o thereupon_o do_v lay_v down_o their_o arm_n and_o take_v that_o which_o they_o all_o shall_v go_v well_o with_o you_o and_o that_o the_o bitterness_n of_o death_n be_v past_a and_o in_o a_o forbearance_n of_o some_o disgraceful_a sin_n and_o be_v much_o in_o the_o exercise_n then_o fall_v into_o that_o deceitful_a hypocrisy_n which_o will_v as_o sure_o condemn_v you_o as_o open_a profaneness_n if_o you_o get_v not_o out_o of_o it_o you_o must_v live_v as_o in_o a_o fight_n or_o you_o can_v overcome_v you_o must_v live_v loose_a from_o all_o thing_n in_o this_o world_n if_o you_o will_v be_v ready_a for_o another_o you_o must_v not_o live_v after_o the_o flesh_n but_o mortify_v it_o by_o the_o spirit_n if_o you_o will_v not_o die_v but_o live_v for_o ever_o rom._n 8.13_o

sober_o whether_o you_o will_v hear_v of_o this_o at_o judgement_n and_o whether_o the_o world_n will_v be_v then_o as_o sweet_a as_o now_o and_o whether_o this_o be_v the_o best_a preparation_n for_o your_o trial_n when_o you_o be_v tempt_v to_o be_v drink_v or_o to_o spend_v your_o precious_a time_n in_o alehouse_n or_o vain_a unprofitable_a company_n or_o at_o card_n or_o die_n or_o any_o sinful_a or_o needless_a sport_n bethink_v you_o then_o whether_o this_o will_v be_v comfortable_a at_o the_o reckon_n and_o whether_o time_n be_v no_o more_o worth_a to_o one_o that_o be_v so_o near_o eternity_n and_o must_v make_v so_o strict_a a_o account_n of_o his_o hour_n and_o whether_o there_o be_v not_o many_o better_a work_n before_o you_o in_o which_o you_o may_v spend_v your_o time_n to_o your_o great_a advantage_n and_o to_o your_o great_a comfort_n when_o it_o come_v to_o a_o review_n when_o you_o be_v tempt_v to_o wantonness_n fornication_n or_o any_o other_o fleshly_a intemperance_n bethink_v you_o sober_o with_o what_o face_n these_o action_n will_v appear_v at_o judgement_n and_o whether_o they_o will_v be_v then_o pleasant_a or_o displeasant_a to_o youâ—_z so_o when_o you_o be_v tempt_v to_o neglect_v the_o daily_a worship_n of_o god_n in_o your_o family_n and_o the_o catechise_v and_o teach_v of_o your_o child_n or_o servant_n especial_o on_o the_o lord_n day_n bethink_v yourselves_o then_o what_o account_v you_o will_v give_v of_o this_o to_o christ_n when_o he_o that_o entrust_v you_o with_o the_o care_n of_o your_o child_n and_o servant_n shall_v call_v you_o to_o a_o reckon_n for_o the_o performance_n of_o that_o trust_n the_o like_a must_v be_v remember_v in_o the_o very_a manner_n of_o our_o duty_n how_o diligent_o shall_v a_o minister_n study_n how_o earnest_o shall_v he_o persuade_v how_o unwearyed_o shall_v he_o bear_v all_o opposition_n and_o ungrateful_a return_n and_o how_o careful_o shall_v he_o watch_v over_o each_o shall_v we_o all_o be_v with_o sinner_n for_o their_o conversion_n when_o we_o consider_v that_o themselves_o also_o must_v short_o be_v judge_v can_v a_o man_n be_v cold_a and_o dead_a in_o prayer_n that_o have_v any_o true_a apprehension_n of_o that_o judgement_n upon_o his_o mind_n where_o he_o must_v be_v accountable_a for_o all_o his_o prayer_n and_o performance_n o_o remember_v and_o serious_o remember_v when_o you_o stand_v before_o the_o minister_n to_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o when_o you_o be_v on_o your_o knee_n to_o god_n in_o prayer_n in_o what_o a_o manner_n that_o same_o person_n even_o yourselves_o must_v short_o stand_v at_o the_o bar_n of_o the_o dreadful_a god_n do_v these_o thought_n get_v thorough_o to_o man_n heart_n they_o will_v waken_v they_o out_o of_o their_o sleepy_a devotion_n and_o acquaint_v they_o that_o it_o be_v a_o serious_a business_n to_o be_v a_o christian_a how_o careful_a shall_v we_o be_v of_o our_o thought_n and_o word_n if_o we_o believe_o remember_v that_o we_o must_v be_v accountable_a for_o they_o all_o how_o careful_o shall_v we_o consider_v what_o we_o do_v with_o our_o riches_n and_o with_o all_o that_o god_n give_v we_o and_o how_o much_o more_o large_o shall_v we_o expend_v it_o for_o his_o service_n in_o work_n of_o piety_n and_o charity_n if_o we_o believe_o remember_v that_o we_o must_v be_v judge_v according_a to_o what_o we_o have_v do_v and_o give_v account_n of_o every_o talon_n that_o we_o receive_v certain_o the_o believe_a consideration_n of_o judgement_n may_v make_v we_o all_o better_a christian_n than_o we_o be_v and_o keep_v our_o life_n in_o a_o more_o innocent_a and_o profitable_a frame_n the_o eleven_o direction_n as_o you_o will_v certain_o renew_v your_o fail_n in_o this_o life_n so_o be_v sure_a that_o you_o daily_o renew_v your_o repentance_n and_o fly_v daily_o to_o christ_n for_o a_o renew_a pardon_n that_o no_o sin_n may_v leave_v its_o sting_n in_o your_o soul_n it_o be_v not_o your_o first_o pardon_n that_o will_v serve_v the_o turn_n for_o your_o latter_a sin_n not_o that_o you_o must_v purpose_v to_o sin_n and_o purpose_n to_o repent_v when_o you_o have_v do_v as_o then_o can_v a_o little_a misery_n on_o earth_n prevent_v it_o alas_o poor_a soul_n these_o be_v but_o the_o foreta_v and_o beginning_n of_o thy_o sorrow_n nothing_o but_o pardon_n through_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n can_v have_v prevent_v thy_o condemnation_n and_o that_o thou_o reject_v by_o infidelity_n and_o impenitency_n his_o suffering_n will_v have_v save_v thou_o if_o thou_o have_v not_o refuse_v he_o but_o all_o thy_o own_o suffering_n will_v yield_v thou_o no_o relief_n so_o much_o for_o the_o answer_n of_o the_o vain_a excuse_n which_o poor_a sinner_n be_v ready_a to_o make_v for_o themselves_o wherein_o i_o have_v be_v so_o large_a as_o that_o this_o part_n i_o confess_v be_v disproportionable_a to_o the_o rest_n but_o it_o be_v for_o these_o two_o reason_n 1._o that_o poor_a careless_a soul_n may_v see_v the_o vanity_n of_o such_o defence_n and_o consider_v if_o such_o a_o worm_n as_o i_o can_v easy_o confute_v they_o how_o easy_o and_o how_o terrible_o will_v they_o be_v all_o answer_v by_o their_o judge_n 2._o i_o do_v it_o the_o rather_o that_o godly_a christian_n may_v the_o better_o understand_v how_o to_o deal_v with_o these_o vain_a excuse_n when_o they_o meet_v with_o they_o which_o will_v be_v daily_o if_o they_o deal_v with_o man_n in_o this_o sad_a condition_n x._o we_o have_v do_v with_o that_o part_n of_o the_o judgement_n which_o consist_v in_o the_o exploration_n or_o trial_n of_o the_o cause_n we_o now_o come_v to_o that_o which_o be_v the_o conclusion_n and_o consummation_n of_o all_o and_o that_o be_v to_o show_v you_o what_o the_o sentence_n will_v be_v and_o on_o who_o and_o for_o this_o we_o must_v go_v straight_o to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o our_o light_n it_o be_v impossible_a for_o any_o man_n to_o have_v any_o particular_a knowledge_n of_o it_o if_o christ_n have_v not_o there_o reveal_v it_o unto_o we_o indeed_o almost_o all_o the_o world_n do_v acknowledge_v a_o life_n after_o this_o where_o it_o shall_v go_v well_o with_o the_o good_a and_o ill_a with_o the_o bad_a but_o who_o shall_v be_v then_o account_v righteous_a and_o who_o unrighteous_a and_o on_o what_o term_n and_o ground_n by_o who_o they_o shall_v be_v judge_v and_o to_o what_o condition_n they_o know_v not_o the_o sentence_n in_o judgement_n will_v be_v 1._o either_o on_o those_o that_o never_o have_v mean_n to_o know_v christ_n 2._o or_o on_o those_o that_o have_v 1._o for_o the_o former_a as_o it_o less_o concern_v we_o to_o inquire_v of_o their_o case_n so_o be_v it_o more_o obscure_o reveal_v to_o we_o in_o the_o scripture_n â—t_fw-la be_v certain_a that_o they_o shall_v be_v judge_v according_a to_o their_o use_n of_o the_o mean_n which_o they_o have_v rom._n 2.11_o 12_o 13_o 14_o 15_o 16._o and_o the_o talent_n which_o they_o receive_v mat._n 25._o but_o that_o it_o ever_o fall_v out_o that_o he_o that_o have_v but_o the_o one_o talon_n of_o natural_a help_n do_v improve_v it_o to_o salvation_n or_o that_o ever_o they_o who_o know_v not_o christ_n be_v justify_v and_o save_v without_o that_o knowledge_n be_v at_o age_n and_o use_v of_o reason_n i_o find_v not_o in_o the_o scripture_n i_o find_v law_n write_v in_o their_o heart_n their_o conscience_n also_o bear_v witness_n and_o their_o thought_n the_o mean_a while_n accuse_v or_o else_o excuse_v one_o another_o in_o the_o day_n when_o god_n shall_v judge_v the_o secret_n of_o man_n by_o jesus_n christ_n according_a to_o the_o gospel_n rom._n 2.15_o 16._o and_o i_o believe_v it_o be_v a_o just_a excuse_n and_o not_o a_o unjust_a which_o be_v here_o mean_v but_o it_o will_v be_v but_o a_o excuse_v so_o far_o as_o they_o be_v guiltless_a and_o that_o will_v be_v but_o in_fw-la tanto_fw-la and_o not_o in_fw-la toto_fw-la in_o part_n
