of_o our_o account_n we_o be_v ready_a to_o sit_v down_o discourage_v despair_v of_o come_v to_o any_o perfection_n see_v we_o have_v scarce_o attain_v to_o the_o first_o degree_n of_o it_o §._o than_o the_o which_o as_o no_o other_o be_v more_o excellent_a prayer_n and_o contemplation_n except_v which_o exceed_v in_o some_o degree_n in_o the_o same_o kind_n so_o there_o be_v none_o beside_o they_o of_o great_a difficulty_n first_o in_o that_o our_o corrupt_a nature_n be_v not_o more_o averse_a unto_o any_o other_o duty_n both_o because_o we_o take_v our_o whole_a delight_n in_o thing_n that_o be_v connaturall_a and_o subject_a to_o the_o sense_n and_o our_o mind_n be_v soon_o tire_v with_o meditate_v serious_o upon_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v mere_o intellectual_a and_o abstract_a from_o the_o sense_n and_o also_o because_o our_o carnal_a heart_n which_o take_v their_o chief_a pleasure_n and_o contentment_n in_o think_v upon_o and_o affect_v worldly_a thing_n be_v ready_a to_o murmur_v and_o repine_v when_o they_o be_v restrain_v of_o their_o liberty_n and_o keep_v hard_o to_o this_o spiritual_a task_n and_o to_o break_v loose_a and_o fly_v out_o every_o hand-while_n that_o they_o may_v rove_v and_o wander_v after_o their_o wont_a delight_n second_o because_o in_o other_o spiritual_a exercise_n as_o hear_v the_o word_n read_v and_o confer_v with_o other_o we_o have_v but_o to_o deal_v with_o man_n as_o we_o conceive_v it_o at_o least_o in_o respect_n of_o immediate_a action_n object_n and_o intercourse_n which_o we_o perform_v with_o great_a alacrity_n because_o the_o sense_n be_v exercise_v in_o they_o about_o outward_a thing_n but_o in_o this_o exercise_n of_o meditation_n we_o be_v soon_o weary_v as_o the_o sense_n exercise_v about_o excel_a object_n both_o because_o the_o subject_a matter_n about_o which_o we_o discourse_v in_o our_o mind_n be_v spiritual_a and_o heavenly_a and_o also_o because_o we_o cast_v up_o our_o account_n lay_v open_a our_o sin_n search_v out_o our_o want_v and_o weakness_n serious_o examine_v our_o heart_n how_o we_o have_v behave_v ourselves_o in_o the_o do_n or_o neglect_v of_o our_o duty_n and_o lay_v they_o naked_a before_o god_n without_o all_o hypocrisy_n confess_v our_o sin_n of_o which_o we_o find_v ourselves_o guilty_a accuse_v ourselves_o where_o we_o be_v faulty_a discover_v our_o want_n and_o weakness_n wherein_o we_o be_v defective_a all_o which_o be_v not_o do_v before_o our_o equal_n but_o before_o the_o glorious_a king_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n as_o malefactor_n and_o innumerable_a other_o vice_n and_o corruption_n which_o otherwise_o will_v be_v unknown_a unto_o ourselves_o even_o as_o they_o be_v now_o unknown_a to_o other_o yea_o by_o this_o disquisition_n we_o do_v not_o only_o find_v out_o this_o noisome_a filth_n and_o heap_n of_o uncleanness_n as_o it_o be_v in_o secret_a corner_n but_o also_o be_v set_v a-work_o to_o urge_v out_o of_o our_o heart_n and_o mind_n these_o wicked_a thought_n and_o filthy_a lust_n which_o will_v otherwise_o like_o pernicious_a humour_n in_o the_o body_n lie_v lurk_v in_o they_o and_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o our_o heart_n with_o heavenly_a cogitation_n and_o holy_a desire_n and_o when_o we_o have_v admit_v they_o to_o hold_v they_o fast_o that_o the_o other_o may_v not_o return_v and_o recover_v their_o and_o so_o much_o concern_v the_o privative_a benefit_n which_o accompany_v a_o godly_a life_n the_o positive_a benefit_n which_o we_o receive_v by_o it_o be_v manifold_a for_o first_o hereby_o the_o image_n of_o god_n be_v repair_v in_o we_o and_o we_o be_v make_v like_o unto_o he_o see_v this_o image_n chief_o consist_v in_o wisdom_n holiness_n and_o righteousness_n whereby_o know_a god_n and_o his_o will_n we_o be_v transform_v in_o all_o holy_a obedience_n unto_o it_o so_o the_o apostle_n say_v that_o we_o have_v put_v on_o the_o new_a man_n which_o be_v renew_a in_o knowledge_n after_o more_o like_a we_o be_v unto_o god_n the_o more_o communion_n we_o shall_v have_v with_o he_o the_o more_o he_o will_v love_v we_o and_o delight_v in_o we_o as_o a_o father_n ordinary_o best_o love_v that_o child_n that_o most_o resemble_v he_o in_o favour_n and_o nature_n though_o oftentimes_o out_o of_o mere_a self-love_n because_o he_o seem_v to_o live_v in_o he_o and_o not_o for_o any_o
