world_n those_o of_o the_o roman_a religion_n make_v their_o greatness_n wealth_n and_o honour_n to_o be_v the_o very_a rule_n by_o which_o to_o square_v out_o the_o canon_n of_o their_o faith_n and_o then_o do_v set_v clerk_n on_o work_n to_o devise_v argument_n to_o maintain_v they_o sir_n edward_n coke_n seem_v to_o justify_v that_o resolution_n concern_v sheriff_n from_o this_o ground_n viz._n that_o the_o king_n have_v a_o sovereign_a power_n to_o command_v any_o of_o his_o subject_n to_o serve_v he_o for_o the_o public_a weal_n and_o this_o be_v say_v he_o sole_o and_o inseparable_o annex_v to_o his_o person_n and_o that_o this_o royal_a power_n can_v be_v restrain_v by_o any_o act_n of_o parliament_n 12_o rep._n fol._n 18._o that_o it_o be_v not_o sole_o annex_v to_o the_o king_n person_n appear_v by_o the_o several_a act_n of_o parliament_n which_o i_o have_v cite_v to_o this_o purpose_n in_o my_o large_a argument_n fol._n 34._o where_o the_o power_n of_o dispense_v with_o some_o particular_a act_n be_v give_v to_o the_o king_n by_o the_o parliament_n and_o by_o he_o accept_v for_o some_o short_a time_n and_o the_o whole_a parliament_n have_v in_o divers_a case_n themselves_o exercise_v this_o very_a power_n judge_n of_o the_o weight_n of_o the_o reason_n say_v to_o be_v give_v there_o by_o sir_n edward_n coke_n by_o that_o one_o instance_n of_o he_o in_o the_o case_n he_o put_v of_o purveyance_n 12_o rep._n fol._n 19_o which_o he_o say_v can_v be_v take_v from_o the_o king_n no_o not_o by_o act_n of_o parliament_n yet_o we_o have_v live_v to_o see_v it_o late_o take_v away_o by_o act_n of_o parliament_n which_o in_o the_o judgement_n of_o a_o parliament_n which_o be_v of_o the_o high_a authority_n in_o law_n may_v therefore_o be_v take_v from_o the_o king._n and_o be_v the_o king_n in_o truth_n restrain_v from_o command_v his_o subject_n to_o serve_v he_o for_o the_o public_a weal_n either_o by_o those_o statute_n that_o disable_v sheriff_n to_o continue_v in_o their_o office_n long_o than_o one_o year_n or_o by_o our_o statute_n of_o 25_o car._n 2._o that_o disable_v popish_a recusant_n to_o bear_v public_a office_n because_o some_o very_a unfit_a uncapable_a and_o dangerous_a person_n be_v disable_v to_o bear_v office_n of_o trust_n and_o power_n and_o this_o by_o the_o king_n be_v own_o consent_n to_o the_o act_n and_o by_o the_o advice_n of_o the_o great_a council_n the_o parliament_n and_o indeed_o of_o the_o whole_a realm_n do_v the_o king_n by_o this_o which_o the_o judge_n miscall_a a_o restraint_n want_v for_o choice_n of_o fit_a person_n to_o serve_v in_o office_n do_v the_o public_a weal_n suffer_v by_o this_o restraint_n be_v it_o not_o rather_o preserve_v by_o it_o have_v not_o the_o king_n protestant_n subject_n enough_o to_o bear_v office_n and_o be_v popish_a recusant_n who_o account_v protestant_n heretic_n and_o to_o be_v root_v out_o and_o destroy_v and_o with_o who_o they_o hold_v no_o faith_n be_v to_o be_v keep_v and_o against_o who_o they_o have_v be_v continual_o plot_v mischief_n be_v these_o the_o fit_a to_o be_v entrust_v with_o the_o defence_n of_o the_o protestant_a religion_n and_o with_o our_o life_n and_o estate_n which_o be_v all_o concern_v more_o or_o less_o in_o every_o public_a office_n and_o trust_v and_o be_v those_o person_n the_o papist_n that_o have_v a_o dependence_n upon_o the_o see_v of_o rome_n and_o a_o foreign_a power_n fit_a to_o be_v entrust_v with_o the_o power_n of_o the_o nation_n with_o the_o militia_n and_o the_o seaport_n be_v not_o this_o to_o commit_v the_o lamb_n to_o the_o custody_n of_o the_o wolf_n this_o act_n that_o disable_v papist_n to_o bear_v office_n can_v be_v just_o say_v to_o be_v a_o restraint_n upon_o the_o king_n that_o expression_n sound_v ill_a and_o take_v the_o matter_n by_o the_o wrong_n handle_v it_o rather_o
