he_o be_v trouble_v for_o what_o he_o have_v do_v so_o in_o jonah_n 9_o the_o people_n repent_v and_o the_o lord_n repent_v of_o the_o evil_a and_o be_v please_v to_o revoke_v the_o sentence_n he_o have_v pass_v upon_o that_o city_n of_o niniveh_n so_o in_o amos_n 4._o you_o have_v mention_v make_v of_o the_o lord_n repent_v that_o be_v some_o judgement_n or_o other_o he_o be_v think_v to_o send_v upon_o a_o people_n and_o yet_o he_o revoke_v the_o sentence_n and_o resolve_v it_o shall_v not_o come_v upon_o they_o but_o when_o you_o come_v to_o stand_v before_o the_o judgement-seat_n of_o christ_n you_o shall_v receive_v a_o sentence_n there_o that_o shall_v stand_v for_o ever_o it_o shall_v stand_v without_o any_o recall_v and_o thus_o i_o have_v brief_o dispatch_v the_o first_o thing_n propound_v to_o show_v you_o that_o to_o stand_v before_o the_o son_n of_o man_n be_v a_o much_o more_o weighty_a and_o serious_a thing_n then_o stand_v under_o any_o temporal_a calamity_n i_o do_v not_o speak_v thus_o to_o make_v you_o slight_v any_o temporal_a or_o common_a stroke_n but_o only_o to_o raise_v up_o your_o heart_n to_o a_o much_o more_o serious_a thoughtfulness_n about_o the_o stand_n before_o the_o son_n of_o man_n and_o to_o show_v you_o that_o that_o be_v a_o thing_n much_o more_o weighty_a which_o lead_v i_o to_o the_o second_o thing_n propound_v for_o the_o prosecution_n of_o this_o point_n namely_o that_o secure_a sinner_n that_o be_v so_o confident_a that_o they_o can_v laugh_v the_o most_o dreadful_a calamity_n in_o the_o face_n they_o shall_v be_v make_v serious_a and_o bring_v to_o tremble_v in_o the_o day_n of_o christ_n they_o shall_v find_v it_o to_o be_v no_o laugh_a matter_n indeed_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n sometime_o be_v say_v to_o laugh_v at_o calamity_n but_o it_o be_v in_o a_o good_a sense_n job_n 5.20_o 21_o 22._o in_o famine_n he_o shall_v redeem_v thou_o etc._n etc._n at_o destruction_n and_o famine_n thou_o shall_v laugh_v but_o you_o must_v know_v the_o sense_n of_o that_o expression_n here_o be_v this_o they_o shall_v not_o make_v light_n of_o a_o calamity_n they_o shall_v consider_v the_o dread_n and_o majesty_n of_o god_n that_o shine_v forth_o in_o it_o but_o when_o they_o consider_v their_o security_n through_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n they_o shall_v look_v upon_o calamity_n as_o that_o that_o be_v not_o able_a to_o touch_v they_o such_o may_v be_v the_o safety_n and_o security_n of_o the_o saint_n and_o servant_n of_o god_n through_o his_o kindness_n that_o they_o may_v laugh_v at_o a_o calamity_n as_o a_o thing_n that_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o come_v nigh_o they_o such_o be_v the_o wretchedness_n and_o the_o hardness_n of_o the_o heart_n of_o sinner_n that_o the_o most_o startle_a judgement_n do_v not_o awaken_v they_o let_v god_n threaten_v they_o be_v not_o move_v and_o therefore_o you_o shall_v find_v what_o the_o lord_n by_o the_o prophet_n complain_v of_o as_o a_o great_a evil_n woe_n unto_o they_o that_o draw_v iniquity_n with_o the_o cord_n of_o vanity_n and_o sin_n as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o cart-rope_n isaiah_n 5.19_o 20._o mark_v what_o it_o be_v they_o say_v let_v he_o make_v speed_n and_o hasten_v his_o work_n that_o we_o may_v see_v it_o it_o be_v a_o taunt_a and_o deride_v speech_n wherewith_o this_o people_n mock_v the_o prophet_n he_o tell_v the_o reason_n be_v of_o the_o desperate_a sinfulness_n of_o sinner_n in_o time_n of_o god_n judgement_n they_o draw_v say_v he_o iniquity_n with_o the_o cord_n of_o vanity_n and_o sin_n as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o cart-rope_n that_o be_v they_o sin_v as_o fast_o as_o they_o can_v they_o do_v not_o mind_v the_o judgement_n of_o god_n if_o they_o do_v they_o will_v put_v a_o check_n upon_o they_o they_o fear_v not_o come_v what_o will_v they_o think_v it_o will_v be_v well_o enough_o with_o they_o that_o this_o be_v the_o guise_n of_o sinner_n you_o shall_v see_v 2_o chron._n 36.16_o but_o they_o mock_v the_o messenger_n of_o god_n etc._n etc._n let_v the_o lord_n threaten_v what_o he_o will_v they_o for_o their_o part_n be_v not_o concern_v with_o it_o they_o mock_v the_o messenger_n despise_v the_o prophet_n and_o all_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n be_v light_a in_o their_o account_n and_o it_o be_v no_o wonder_n that_o sinner_n fear_v not_o judgement_n for_o they_o fear_v not_o sin_n which_o be_v a_o thing_n that_o be_v much_o more_o dreadful_a than_o judgement_n if_o right_o consider_v prov._n 14.9_o fool_n make_v a_o mock_n at_o sin_n and_o the_o very_a appearance_n of_o christ_n himself_o the_o most_o dreadful_a of_o all_o dispensation_n before_o it_o come_v sinner_n will_v but_o mock_v and_o scoff_n at_o it_o as_o you_o have_v it_o 2_o pet._n 3._o say_v he_o they_o will_v scoff_n at_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n at_o the_o great_a day_n of_o the_o lord_n they_o will_v but_o make_v a_o mock_n of_o it_o and_o say_v where_o be_v the_o christ_n you_o talk_v of_o we_o see_v no_o preparation_n
