quest_n happy_o some_o will_v say_v this_o seem_v to_o he_o injustice_n that_o god_n shall_v punish_v his_o wicked_a servant_n and_o also_o punish_v they_o upon_o the_o back_n of_o his_o dutiful_a son_n answ_n to_o this_o i_o answer_v with_o saint_z chrysostome_n true_a it_o be_v that_o to_o the_o righteousness_n of_o man_n justice_n it_o seem_v he_o do_v injustice_n that_o for_o wicked_a servant_n do_v give_v to_o death_n a_o good_a son_n but_o say_v the_o father_n this_o be_v the_o admirable_a piety_n that_o the_o greatness_n of_o his_o justice_n exceed_v man_n reason_n though_o this_o justice_n have_v a_o show_n of_o injustice_n to_o man_n that_o god_n shall_v lay_v the_o sin_n of_o other_o upon_o he_o yet_o be_v it_o just_a because_o their_o sin_n be_v account_v he_o he_o be_v the_o mediator_n the_o head_n and_o husband_n of_o his_o church_n and_o therefore_o for_o god_n to_o require_v their_o sin_n of_o he_o be_v no_o injustice_n their_o sin_n be_v make_v he_o 1_o cor._n 5.21_o he_o that_o know_v no_o sin_n be_v make_v sin_n for_o we_o a_o sacrifice_n for_o sin_n not_o to_o stand_v upon_o this_o our_o sin_n be_v all_o lay_v upon_o his_o score_n here_o mercy_n and_o justice_n kiss_v each_o other_o mercy_n in_o this_o that_o he_o find_v out_o a_o mean_n to_o satisfy_v justice_n in_o this_o that_o he_o will_v have_v satisfaction_n and_o this_o he_o lay_v upon_o christ_n because_o he_o willing_o and_o free_o take_v our_o sin_n upon_o he_o use_v 2._o this_o do_v manifest_a that_o there_o be_v a_o judgement_n of_o the_o last_o day_n wherein_o god_n will_v judge_v the_o world_n and_o so_o answer_v that_o objection_n against_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n which_o sometime_o stumble_v david_n psa_n 73._o jerem_n 12.2_o 3._o that_o the_o godly_a have_v their_o way_n hedge_v with_o thorn_n and_o be_v in_o much_o affliction_n but_o what_o be_v the_o estate_n of_o the_o wicked_a now_o they_o have_v the_o pipe_n and_o the_o harp_n and_o be_v in_o a_o prosperous_a and_o flourish_a estate_n etc._n etc._n well_o among_o many_o other_o thing_n that_o may_v be_v answer_v there_o be_v a_o day_n wherein_o he_o will_v judge_v they_o though_o now_o sometime_o the_o lord_n defer_v their_o punishment_n yet_o he_o be_v not_o unjust_a as_o one_o say_v well_o that_o that_o be_v defer_v be_v not_o take_v away_o forbearance_n be_v no_o quittance_n god_n will_v just_o reward_v both_o the_o good_a and_o wicked_a in_o a_o fit_a opportunity_n quest_n why_o do_v he_o defer_v the_o punishment_n of_o the_o wicked_a answ_n because_o by_o this_o mean_v he_o will_v draw_v they_o to_o goodness_n or_o make_v his_o forbearance_n a_o great_a mean_n of_o their_o condemnation_n and_o so_o he_o defer_v to_o recompense_v his_o own_o because_o he_o will_v try_v their_o faith_n and_o constancy_n and_o goodness_n so_o that_o by_o this_o mean_v they_o be_v more_o establish_v in_o goodness_n whereas_o other_o man_n perish_v ease_n slay_v the_o foolish_a there_o be_v many_o secret_a sin_n that_o lie_v in_o good_a man_n that_o god_n oftentimes_o by_o these_o mean_n make_v they_o to_o find_v out_o of_o the_o wicked_a say_v saint_n austin_n some_o be_v punish_v in_o this_o life_n and_o that_o but_o a_o few_o because_o he_o reserve_v they_o for_o a_o eternal_a punishment_n so_o than_o it_o be_v manifest_a there_o must_v be_v a_o day_n wherein_o god_n will_v judge_v the_o world_n and_o though_o the_o lord_n spare_v the_o wicked_a it_o be_v no_o good_a to_o they_o nor_o mercy_n and_o it_o be_v not_o against_o justice_n to_o spare_v they_o that_o he_o may_v when_o he_o come_v make_v his_o justice_n more_o apparent_a afterward_o so_o that_o there_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o judgement_n to_o come_v use_v 3_o be_v god_n just_a this_o be_v to_o awaken_v the_o secure_a and_o drowsy_a professor_n and_o also_o the_o careful_a christian_a though_o he_o must_v go_v through_o evil_a reproof_n and_o slander_n yet_o god_n be_v just_a howsoever_o he_o can_v call_v for_o nothing_o at_o his_o justice_n by_o merit_n &_o desert_n yet_o by_o promise_n he_o may_v let_v he_o lay_v hold_n upon_o the_o promise_n and_o they_o shall_v stay_v and_o strengthen_v his_o heart_n on_o the_o other_o side_n justice_n shall_v make_v all_o carnal_a man_n to_o remember_v that_o they_o must_v come_v to_o give_v a_o account_n god_n shall_v be_v unjust_a if_o he_o shall_v not_o recompense_v the_o way_n and_o work_n of_o every_o man_n therefore_o these_o man_n shall_v be_v awaken_v out_o of_o that_o security_n wherein_o they_o be_v do_v not_o thou_o think_v that_o thou_o have_v lose_v thy_o good_a work_n and_o thy_o practice_n of_o godliness_n shall_v go_v unrewarded_a god_n be_v just_a in_o his_o promise_n on_o the_o other_o side_n if_o thou_o have_v do_v wicked_a work_n though_o god_n do_v not_o come_v present_o to_o punish_v they_o presume_v not_o of_o impunity_n if_o god_n be_v god_n certain_o those_o sin_n which_o thou_o have_v commit_v when_o thou_o be_v a_o youth_n when_o thou_o be_v a_o servant_n when_o thou_o be_v a_o master_n shall_v not_o go_v unpunished_a for_o god_n be_v just_a when_o the_o act_n be_v cease_v and_o go_v it_o may_v be_v thou_o think_v thy_o sin_n be_v go_v it_o be_v not_o so_o the_o act_n be_v cease_v the_o guilt_n remain_v still_o and_o god_n will_v call_v every_o work_n to_o judgement_n every_o work_n good_a and_o bad_a therefore_o labour_n that_o thou_o never_o forget_v it_o unless_o thou_o do_v undo_v it_o by_o repentance_n this_o shall_v make_v every_o man_n careful_a and_o watchful_a over_o his_o way_n as_o saint_n bernard_n say_v god_n have_v two_o foot_n mercy_n and_o justice_n there_o be_v two_o sign_n of_o these_o foot_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n fear_n
