good_a neither_o think_v of_o judgement_n nor_o what_o shall_v befall_v we_o be_v great_o dote_v upon_o the_o pleasure_n of_o sin_n which_o at_o the_o last_o shall_v vanish_v and_o in_o time_n to_o come_v shall_v have_v a_o bitter_a reward_n whereas_o if_o we_o forethink_v with_o ourselves_o of_o these_o heavy_a matter_n &_o of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n which_o shall_v be_v perceive_v by_o his_o judgement_n which_o we_o must_v of_o force_n endure_v if_o we_o repent_v not_o i_o say_v if_o we_o shall_v forethink_v these_o matter_n we_o shall_v learn_v true_o to_o fear_n god_n &_o to_o forgo_v ourselves_o that_o be_v deny_v our_o naughty_a desire_n &_o sin_n and_o pleasure_n that_o so_o god_n wrath_n may_v be_v diminish_v towards_o we_o and_o that_o he_o may_v not_o enter_v into_o judgement_n with_o us._n as_o say_v the_o prophet_n ps_n 90.11_o who_o regard_v the_o power_n of_o thy_o wrath_n for_o even_o as_o a_o man_n fear_v so_o be_v thy_o displeasure_n wicked_a how_o the_o godly_a aught_o to_o be_v affect_v see_v the_o sin_n and_o the_o flourish_a estate_n of_o the_o wicked_a here_o also_o the_o mind_n of_o the_o faithful_a and_o godly_a be_v to_o be_v prepare_v to_o patience_n that_o although_o they_o see_v many_o ungodly_a mind_a man_n to_o make_v a_o mock_n of_o the_o judgement_n to_o come_v and_o so_o to_o continue_v in_o their_o sinful_a life_n and_o do_v what_o they_o listen_v &_o that_o they_o be_v not_o punish_v in_o this_o world_n by_o god_n judgement_n plague_n and_o punishment_n yet_o let_v we_o persuade_v ourselves_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o escape_v though_o god_n suffer_v long_o and_o though_o we_o in_o our_o weak_a mind_n think_v it_o too_o long_o for_o although_o the_o wicked_a may_v say_v within_o themselves_o vaunt_o and_o yet_o full_a vain_o as_o the_o prophet_n esay_n chap._n 28.15_o recite_v their_o speech_n we_o have_v make_v a_o covenant_n say_v they_o with_o death_n and_o with_o hell_n be_v we_o at_o agreement_n though_o a_o scourge_n run_v over_o and_o pass_v through_o it_o shall_v not_o come_v at_o us._n yet_o their_o covenant_n with_o death_n shall_v be_v disannul_v and_o their_o agreement_n with_o hell_n shall_v not_o stand_v and_o when_o a_o scourge_n run_v over_o and_o pass_v through_o be_v they_o not_o sometime_o tread_v down_o by_o it_o and_o take_v away_o when_o they_o make_v little_a or_o no_o and_o let_v they_o be_v filthy_a still_o he_o that_o be_v unjust_a let_v he_o be_v unjust_a still_o so_o also_o it_o be_v say_v on_o the_o contrary_a part_n they_o that_o be_v just_a and_o righteous_a let_v they_o be_v righteous_a still_o and_o they_o that_o be_v holy_a let_v they_o be_v holy_a still_o let_v they_o not_o faint_v in_o the_o course_n that_o they_o have_v take_v in_o hand_n but_o remember_v what_o be_v write_v in_o the_o selfsame_o chapter_n the_o come_n of_o the_o lord_n to_o judgement_n be_v at_o hand_n sure_o say_v he_o i_o come_v quick_o and_o let_v we_o wish_v even_o so_o come_v lord_n jesus_n and_o as_o for_o the_o rest_n let_v we_o persuade_v ourselves_o thus_o as_o we_o read_v 2._o pet._n 2.9_o the_o lord_n know_v how_o to_o deliver_v the_o godly_a out_o of_o temptation_n and_o to_o reserve_v the_o unjust_a unto_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n to_o be_v punish_v the_o lord_n know_v his_o best_a time_n and_o when_o it_o be_v most_o expedient_a that_o we_o day_n of_o judgement_n they_o shall_v not_o escape_v though_o his_o judgement_n do_v not_o present_o take_v hold_v on_o they_o they_o can_v slip_v from_o god_n or_o avoid_v he_o but_o be_v bind_v as_o it_o be_v with_o secret_a chain_n so_o that_o in_o time_n to_o come_v they_o shall_v be_v draw_v do_v judgement_n who_o be_v keep_v until_o that_o time_n to_o be_v punish_v even_o as_o the_o ox_n continue_v in_o hope_n and_o patience_n unto_o the_o end_n of_o our_o life_n and_o not_o to_o be_v offend_v though_o the_o wicked_a be_v not_o punish_v but_o every_o one_o of_o we_o aught_o to_o have_v respect_n to_o our_o own_o way_n to_o keep_v ourselves_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o god_n fear_n lest_o that_o fall_v upon_o we_o which_o we_o think_v and_o look_v shall_v fall_v upon_o other_o and_o wonder_v with_o ourselves_o why_o it_o be_v not_o so_o again_o as_o the_o word_n of_o god_n do_v instruct_v we_o let_v we_o consider_v these_o two_o principal_a cause_n why_o god_n delay_v this_o day_n of_o judgement_n one_o be_v that_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n shall_v not_o come_v until_o the_o number_n of_o the_o elect_v be_v fulfil_v as_o we_o may_v read_v reu._n 7.2_o and_o i_o see_v another_o angel_n come_v up_o from_o the_o east_n which_o have_v the_o seal_n of_o the_o live_a god_n and_o he_o cry_v with_o a_o loud_a voice_n to_o the_o four_o angel_n to_o who_o power_n be_v give_v to_o hurt_v the_o earth_n and_o the_o sea_n say_v hurt_v you_o not_o the_o earth_n neither_o the_o sea_n neither_o the_o tree_n till_o we_o have_v seal_v the_o servant_n of_o our_o for_o the_o elect_v sake_n those_o day_n shall_v be_v shorten_v second_o this_o judgement_n be_v delay_v that_o the_o stubborn_a and_o ungodly_a may_v be_v thereby_o without_o excuse_n for_o they_o have_v warning_n enough_o exhortation_n &_o threaten_n at_o all_o time_n what_o their_o sin_n deserve_v and_o what_o they_o be_v to_o look_v for_o so_o that_o they_o can_v be_v ignorant_a of_o the_o judgement_n day_n neither_o can_v they_o say_v that_o they_o be_v oppress_v at_o unaware_o and_o this_o may_v suffice_v to_o prove_v not_o only_o that_o sin_n and_o our_o offence_n be_v and_o shall_v be_v the_o cause_n of_o judgement_n but_o also_o they_o that_o sin_n of_o set_a purpose_n &_o in_o scoff_v and_o mock_v sort_n think_v that_o there_o shall_v be_v no_o judgement_n or_o rather_o do_v suppress_v and_o bury_v within_o themselves_o if_o it_o may_v be_v the_o inward_a feel_n &_o knowledge_n of_o the_o same_o &_o that_o to_o their_o great_a hurt_n shall_v not_o escape_v that_o heavy_a vengeance_n of_o god_n though_o yet_o they_o be_v forbear_v also_o that_o the_o mind_n of_o the_o godly_a be_v not_o trouble_v although_o they_o do_v not_o present_o see_v that_o god_n do_v exercise_v his_o judgment_n &_o punishment_n upon_o they_o and_o that_o they_o faint_v not_o in_o well_o do_v but_o still_o hold_v on_o their_o course_n remember_v that_o god_n have_v appoint_v a_o day_n of_o judgement_n upon_o the_o which_o they_o must_v stay_v and_o depend_v and_o unto_o the_o which_o they_o must_v refer_v all_o matter_n and_o then_o shall_v all_o their_o cause_n be_v hear_v and_o all_o their_o grief_n ease_v notorious_a sin_n procure_v notorious_a punishment_n in_o this_o world_n but_o especial_o at_o the_o judgement_n day_n shall_v the_o full_a measure_n of_o all_o plague_n and_o punishment_n be_v fulfil_v and_o so_o much_o the_o more_o because_o that_o in_o this_o world_n many_o rule_n and_o reign_v in_o their_o wickedness_n and_o be_v as_o it_o be_v scotfree_a and_o as_o the_o prophet_n say_v they_o come_v in_o no_o misfortune_n like_o other_o man_n neither_o be_v they_o plague_v according_a to_o their_o desert_n but_o the_o latter_a day_n the_o day_n of_o doom_n and_o judgement_n be_v and_o shall_v be_v their_o day_n of_o assize_n and_o of_o their_o perpetual_a execution_n wherefore_o let_v none_o of_o we_o all_o suppress_v and_o banish_v the_o inward_a feel_n and_o knowledge_n of_o this_o judgement_n day_n see_v that_o by_o nature_n it_o be_v engraft_v into_o our_o heart_n and_o secret_a knowledge_n but_o rather_o let_v in_o have_v that_o effect_n in_o we_o that_o of_o right_n it_o ought_v to_o have_v we_o see_v it_o true_a in_o worldly_a matter_n and_o i_o will_v to_o god_n it_o be_v as_o true_a in_o heavenly_a matter_n for_o questionless_a the_o forethought_a of_o the_o assize_n and_o of_o the_o execution_n do_v fear_n many_o from_o their_o wicked_a purpose_n and_o make_v they_o take_v a_o other_o course_n and_o so_o no_o doubt_n will_v the_o remembrance_n of_o the_o judgement_n day_n prevail_v with_o we_o but_o that_o we_o be_v careless_o persuade_v that_o it_o be_v far_o hence_o and_o that_o we_o shall_v never_o see_v it_o nay_o more_o than_o that_o many_o think_v it_o shall_v never_o be_v well_o how_o far_o off_o the_o judgement_n day_n be_v god_n know_v and_o we_o may_v every_o day_n look_v for_o but_o by_o the_o way_n take_v this_o for_o thy_o learning_n that_o thy_o die_a day_n be_v and_o shall_v be_v thy_o judgement_n day_n and_o assure_v thyself_o that_o thou_o shall_v so_o find_v it_o for_o when_o thy_o soul_n not_o to_o thy_o destruction_n heb._n 9.27_o 2_o now_o for_o the_o description_n and_o declaration_n of_o this_o general_a judgement_n which_o be_v the_o second_o principal_a matter_n in_o this_o text_n that_o both_o they_o which_o either_o mock_n or_o doubt_v of_o the_o judgement_n to_o come_v and_o they_o also_o which_o be_v well_o near_o persuade_v thereof_o may_v be_v thorough_o perfect_o and_o certain_o inform_v therefore_o the_o order_n and_o manner_n of_o this_o judgement_n be_v set_v down_o in_o the_o scripture_n and_o word_n of_o god_n principal_o and_o especial_o in_o the_o 25._o chap._n of_o mat._n vers_fw-la 31._o and_o so_o forth_o in_o these_o word_n and_o when_o the_o son_n of_o man_n come_v in_o his_o glory_n and_o all_o the_o holy_a angel_n with_o he_o then_o shall_v he_o sit_v upon_o the_o throne_n of_o his_o glory_n and_o before_o he_o shall_v be_v gather_v all_o nation_n and_o he_o shall_v separate_v they_o one_o from_o a_o other_o as_o a_o shepherd_n separate_v the_o sheep_n from_o the_o goat_n and_o he_o shall_v set_v the_o sheep_n on_o his_o right_a hand_n and_o the_o goat_n on_o the_o left_a then_o shall_v the_o king_n say_v to_o they_o on_o necessary_a to_o give_v we_o further_o understanding_n herein_o as_o first_o concern_v the_o day_n when_o this_o judgement_n shall_v be_v the_o sign_n that_o shall_v go_v before_o this_o day_n as_o also_o how_o sudden_o it_o shall_v come_v upon_o the_o world_n concern_v the_o day_n the_o prophet_n do_v foretell_v how_o terrible_a it_o be_v likely_a to_o be_v day_n the_o day_n the_o day_n of_o the_o lord_n
say_v they_o be_v a_o day_n of_o blackness_n &_o darkness_n the_o earth_n shall_v tremble_v before_o he_o the_o heaven_n shall_v shake_v the_o sun_n &_o the_o moon_n shall_v be_v dark_a and_o the_o star_n shall_v withdraw_v their_o shine_a this_o day_n be_v great_a and_o very_o terrible_a and_o who_o can_v abide_v it_o it_o come_v cruel_o with_o wrath_n as_o fierce_a anger_n and_o he_o shall_v matter_n of_o religion_n shall_v be_v against_o the_o son_n and_o the_o son_n against_o the_o father_n the_o mother_n against_o the_o daughter_n one_o friend_n against_o a_o other_o great_a earthquake_n in_o diverse_a place_n hunger_n pestilence_n bitter_a persecution_n of_o they_o that_o shall_v profess_v christ_n and_o his_o gospel_n charity_n shall_v wax_v cold_a among_o man_n man_n shall_v lead_v a_o lewd_a and_o sinful_a life_n altogether_o careless_a of_o the_o judgement_n to_o come_v the_o gospel_n shall_v be_v publish_v and_o few_o shall_v regard_v it_o it_o shall_v be_v preach_v through_o the_o whole_a world_n for_o a_o witness_n unto_o all_o nation_n to_o make_v they_o without_o all_o excuse_n and_o then_o shall_v the_o end_n come_v fearful_a thing_n shall_v be_v see_v the_o sea_n and_o the_o water_n shall_v roar_v and_o man_n heart_n shall_v fail_v they_o for_o fear_n and_o for_o look_v after_o those_o thing_n which_o shall_v come_v on_o the_o world_n the_o sun_n shall_v be_v darken_v and_o the_o moon_n shall_v not_o give_v her_o light_n the_o star_n shall_v fall_v from_o heaven_n and_o the_o power_n of_o heaven_n shall_v be_v shake_v whereby_o the_o horrible_a tremble_a of_o the_o world_n be_v mean_v together_o with_o the_o alteration_n and_o overturning_a of_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o nature_n and_o after_o all_o these_o thing_n then_o shall_v appear_v the_o sign_n of_o the_o sun_n of_o man_n in_o heaven_n man_n what_o effect_n the_o sign_n of_o the_o latter_a day_n shall_v work_v in_o the_o mind_n of_o man_n the_o consideration_n of_o which_o sign_n shall_v work_v diverse_o both_o in_o the_o godly_a and_o in_o the_o wicked_a for_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o wicked_a shall_v be_v harden_v &_o make_v worse_o by_o these_o sign_n as_o king_n pharaoh_n hart_n by_o god_n strange_a punishment_n be_v more_o and_o more_o harden_a until_o the_o time_n of_o his_o destruction_n and_o that_o he_o be_v utter_o overthrow_v in_o the_o red_a sea_n these_o sign_n as_o they_o shall_v move_v the_o godly_a mind_v partly_o to_o repentance_n in_o consideration_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o partly_o to_o comfort_v in_o respect_n of_o joy_n to_o come_v so_o the_o wicked_a contrariwise_o shall_v be_v give_v to_o despair_v and_o to_o curse_v the_o hour_n that_o ever_o they_o be_v bear_v and_o this_o be_v a_o secret_a judgement_n upon_o many_o misdeed_n which_o man_n law_n shall_v have_v correct_v and_o yet_o let_v pass_v although_o they_o have_v escape_v the_o judgement_n of_o man_n yet_o then_o shall_v they_o receive_v according_a of_o a_o more_o upright_o judge_n then_o be_v no_o earth_n to_o be_v see_v and_o of_o a_o more_o righteous_a judgement_n by_o the_o virtue_n and_o force_n whereof_o they_o shall_v be_v both_o right_v and_o relieve_v concern_v which_o matter_n esdras_n have_v speak_v very_o well_o 2._o esd_v 7.32_o the_o earth_n shall_v restore_v those_o that_o have_v sleep_v in_o she_o and_o the_o most_o high_a shall_v appear_v upon_o the_o seat_n of_o judgement_n and_o misery_n shall_v vanish_v away_o and_o long_o suffer_v shall_v have_v a_o end_n justice_n only_o shall_v continue_v the_o truth_n shall_v remain_v and_o unrighteousness_n shall_v bear_v no_o more_o rule_n for_o the_o wicked_a think_v not_o on_o the_o judgement_n to_o come_v nay_o the_o be_v inward_o blind_v and_o that_o by_o god_n secret_a appointment_n be_v so_o far_o give_v up_o to_o their_o own_o lust_n that_o they_o care_v not_o what_o villainy_n or_o violence_n they_o put_v in_o practice_n but_o the_o godly_a be_v will_v to_o have_v regard_n to_o this_o rightful_a day_n when_o true_a judgement_n shall_v only_o have_v the_o upper_a hand_n again_o they_o must_v take_v heed_n that_o when_o they_o suffer_v they_o suffer_v not_o as_o evil_a doer_n and_o malefactor_n for_o than_o they_o can_v look_v for_o redress_v a_o other_o day_n and_o then_o this_o earthly_a judgement_n do_v lawful_o take_v place_n against_o they_o but_o in_o all_o well_o do_v let_v every_o one_o commend_v this_o soul_n to_o god_n and_o commit_v his_o cause_n to_o that_o righteous_a judge_n this_o last_o judgement_n therefore_o be_v for_o the_o benefit_n of_o the_o godly_a that_o it_o may_v go_v well_o with_o they_o who_o cause_n in_o this_o life_n can_v not_o be_v hear_v nor_o any_o justice_n do_v they_o again_o that_o not_o only_o they_o may_v be_v right_v in_o their_o cause_n but_o also_o that_o they_o may_v be_v deliver_v from_o that_o infamy_n and_o from_o those_o spiteful_a and_o approbrious_a speech_n which_o the_o world_n have_v give_v out_o against_o they_o do_v they_o more_o hurt_n and_o wrong_v and_o inward_a grief_n thereby_o then_o by_o false_a judgement_n which_o have_v pass_v against_o they_o and_o whereby_o they_o have_v have_v their_o will_n of_o they_o and_o have_v prevail_v and_o as_o the_o restore_n of_o their_o righteous_a cause_n and_o of_o their_o credit_n and_o good_a name_n which_o the_o world_n have_v labour_v to_o deprive_v they_o of_o shall_v be_v a_o occasion_n of_o christ_n his_o come_n to_o judgement_n so_o also_o be_v the_o condemnation_n of_o the_o wicked_a for_o in_o this_o life_n their_o condemnation_n be_v begin_v their_o conscience_n witness_v against_o they_o which_o then_o and_o at_o the_o judgement_n day_n shall_v full_o and_o perfect_o be_v declare_v which_o be_v not_o speak_v that_o the_o godly_a be_v clear_a from_o judgement_n by_o their_o desert_n for_o they_o be_v sinner_n and_o offender_n as_o other_o though_o not_o perhaps_o in_o the_o same_o degree_n who_o through_o repentance_n and_o a_o lively_a faith_n take_v hold_n of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n have_v no_o need_n to_o fear_v this_o judgement_n because_o god_n do_v not_o impute_v their_o sin_n unto_o they_o and_o also_o their_o conscience_n do_v in_o this_o sort_n declare_v they_o free_a although_o in_o respect_n of_o themselves_o they_o be_v great_o guilty_a so_o that_o christ_n shall_v stand_v on_o their_o side_n and_o their_o conscience_n shall_v witness_v unto_o they_o the_o exceed_a love_n of_o god_n and_o his_o gracious_a meercy_n which_o shall_v be_v the_o breath_n of_o life_n unto_o they_o &_o a_o assurance_n of_o heavenly_a joy_n but_o the_o wicked_a because_o they_o have_v their_o conscience_n accuse_v and_o condemn_v they_o the_o fierce_a countenance_n of_o the_o judge_n to_o daunt_v they_o and_o fearful_o to_o dismay_v they_o the_o devil_n plead_v against_o they_o and_o call_v for_o judgement_n to_o be_v do_v upon_o they_o therefore_o be_v they_o to_o look_v for_o nothing_o else_o but_o even_o the_o severity_n of_o judgement_n &_o the_o fearful_a sentence_n of_o condemnation_n which_o shall_v make_v they_o as_o it_o be_v to_o fall_v in_o piece_n through_o quake_v &_o tremble_v and_o to_o be_v resolve_v to_o nothing_o but_o that_o by_o god_n appointment_n they_o be_v reserve_v to_o everlasting_a punishment_n together_o with_o the_o devil_n &_o his_o angel_n who_o also_o i_o mean_v the_o devil_n and_o his_o angel_n shall_v be_v condemn_v by_o the_o sentence_n of_o god_n severe_a judgement_n not_o only_o because_o they_o have_v high_o offend_v god_n but_o also_o because_o they_o have_v be_v the_o author_n of_o the_o ruin_n &_o downfall_n of_o all_o mankind_n in_o provoke_v and_o tempt_v they_o to_o all_o disobedience_n sin_n &_o mischief_n when_o as_o the_o righteous_a shall_v live_v for_o ever_o &_o shall_v receive_v a_o glorious_a kingdom_n &_o a_o beautiful_a crown_n at_o the_o lord_n hand_n christ_n shall_v come_v again_o the_o second_o time_n as_o it_o be_v john_n 14.3_o and_o shall_v receive_v we_o unto_o himself_o that_o where_o he_o be_v there_o may_v we_o be_v also_o and_o as_o it_o be_v say_v of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n to_o the_o manifestation_n of_o his_o great_a glory_n that_o they_o shall_v then_o see_v he_o who_o they_o have_v pierce_v through_o who_o presence_n shall_v be_v to_o the_o great_a confusion_n of_o the_o despise_v &_o so_o cruel_o handle_v so_o also_o shall_v christ_n make_v his_o member_n the_o godly_a repentant_a &_o faithful_a partaker_n of_o this_o his_o glory_n as_o he_o himself_o have_v
