and_o for_o the_o second_o thing_n that_o the_o same_o calamity_n come_v upon_o we_o for_o our_o sin_n be_v a_o stroke_n of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n that_o be_v of_o his_o holiness_n abhor_v sin_n &_o of_o his_o justice_n correct_v for_o sin_n appear_v by_o the_o word_n of_o the_o prophet_n micha_n speak_v thus_o of_o god_n he_o 1â—…_n retain_v not_o his_o wrath_n for_o ever_o because_o mercy_n please_v he_o he_o will_v turn_v again_o and_o have_v compassion_n upon_o we_o he_o will_v subdue_v our_o iniquity_n and_o cast_v all_o their_o sin_n into_o the_o bottom_n of_o the_o sea_n that_o be_v for_o a_o while_o he_o punish_v in_o wrath_n the_o sin_n of_o his_o people_n and_o after_o some_o short_a affliction_n endure_v he_o forgive_v their_o sin_n and_o receive_v they_o again_o into_o favour_n in_o that_o say_n of_o the_o prophet_n the_o work_n of_o god_n in_o lay_v calamity_n upon_o his_o servant_n for_o their_o sin_n be_v call_v his_o wrath_n so_o that_o all_o the_o evil_n that_o fall_v upon_o man_n which_o suffer_v with_o christ_n in_o this_o world_n come_v upon_o they_o for_o their_o sin_n and_o be_v the_o stroke_n of_o god_n wrath_n against_o sin_n not_o to_o destroy_v but_o to_o correct_v therefore_o if_o it_o be_v a_o true_a rule_n which_o our_o afflict_a sinner_n speak_v that_o where_o god_n wrath_n fall_v upon_o man_n for_o their_o sin_n that_o wrath_n shall_v be_v a_o evidence_n of_o the_o reprobation_n of_o the_o person_n upon_o which_o it_o be_v fall_v than_o those_o man_n which_o suffer_v with_o christ_n in_o this_o world_n shall_v be_v reprobate_n which_o be_v most_o absurd_a and_o untrue_a for_o that_o suffering_n be_v rather_o a_o evidence_n of_o their_o election_n unto_o salvation_n because_o it_o be_v write_v it_o be_v a_o true_a say_n 11_o for_o if_o we_o be_v dead_a with_o christ_n we_o shall_v live_v with_o he_o if_o we_o suffer_v we_o shall_v also_o reign_v with_o he_o but_o no_o reprobate_n shall_v reign_v with_o christ_n that_o be_v the_o bless_a preferment_n of_o they_o only_o that_o be_v the_o elect_a of_o god_n second_o if_o all_o that_o bear_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n for_o sin_n be_v reprobate_n and_o that_o wrath_n a_o evidence_n of_o their_o reprobation_n than_o this_o absurdity_n will_v follow_v that_o god_n shall_v never_o be_v displease_v with_o his_o elect_a whatsoever_o they_o do_v &_o shall_v never_o lay_v any_o judgement_n upon_o they_o that_o may_v be_v interpret_v to_o be_v a_o evidence_n of_o his_o wrath_n and_o just_a displeasure_n against_o their_o sin_n whereas_o the_o contrary_a be_v most_o
true_a and_o god_n often_o let_v his_o wrath_n fall_v heavy_o upon_o his_o elect_a for_o their_o sin_n to_o that_o end_n hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n church_n speak_v to_o the_o malignant_a company_n of_o her_o enemy_n that_o 7._o rejoice_n at_o her_o trouble_n i_o will_v look_v unto_o the_o lord_n i_o will_v wait_v for_o god_n my_o saviour_n my_o god_n will_v hear_v i_o rejoice_v not_o against_o i_o o_o my_o enemy_n though_o i_o fall_v i_o shall_v arise_v when_o i_o shall_v sit_v in_o darkness_n the_o lord_n shall_v be_v alight_v unto_o i_o i_o will_v bear_v the_o wrath_n of_o the_o lord_n because_o i_o have_v sin_v against_o he_o until_o he_o plead_v my_o cause_n and_o execute_v judgement_n for_o i_o then_o will_v he_o bring_v i_o forth_o unto_o the_o light_n &_o i_o shall_v see_v his_o righteousness_n the_o church_n confess_v that_o she_o bear_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n she_o confess_v that_o that_o wrath_n fall_v upon_o she_o for_o her_o sin_n and_o therefore_o promise_v to_o bear_v it_o patient_o because_o she_o bear_v it_o just_o and_o she_o take_v not_o that_o wrath_n of_o god_n for_o any_o evidence_n of_o reprobation_n neither_o cease_v to_o esteem_v herself_o the_o choose_v of_o the_o lord_n that_o shall_v inherit_v his_o favour_n and_o therefore_o she_o exercise_v her_o faith_n in_o look_v up_o unto_o the_o lord_n and_o out_o of_o faith_n promise_v herself_o all_o gracious_a respect_n with_o god_n in_o her_o prayer_n &_o show_v herself_o rich_a in_o hope_n that_o god_n himself_o will_v in_o due_a time_n plead_v her_o cause_n and_o bring_v she_o out_o of_o the_o darkness_n of_o her_o trouble_n into_o the_o light_n of_o joy_n and_o so_o magnify_v his_o love_n and_o favour_n to_o she_o that_o her_o adversary_n the_o malignant_a congregation_n shall_v be_v ashamed_a therefore_o certain_o god_n do_v often_o let_v his_o wrath_n fall_v upon_o the_o elect_a for_o their_o sin_n and_o the_o manifest_a stroke_n of_o god_n wrath_n can_v be_v say_v to_o be_v infallible_a evidence_n and_o sign_n of_o reprobation_n as_o our_o afflict_a sinner_n affirm_v to_o his_o own_o great_a hurt_n and_o if_o happy_o upon_o hear_v of_o these_o thing_n thus_o speak_v his_o disease_a mind_n shall_v begin_v to_o cavil_n and_o to_o say_v that_o if_o other_o judgement_n and_o stroke_n of_o god_n wrath_n be_v not_o evidence_n of_o reprobation_n yet_o that_o judgement_n and_o stroke_n of_o wrath_n that_o be_v fall_v upon_o he_o be_v a_o plain_a evidence_n of_o reprobation_n his_o judgement_n be_v accuse_v thought_n &_o a_o wound_a conscience_n the_o most_o heavy_a of_o all_o god_n judgement_n whereof_o solomon_n say_v a_o 14._o wound_a spirit_n who_o can_v bear_v it_o for_o that_o stroke_n be_v the_o begin_n of_o intolerable_a reprobation_n the_o remove_n of_o this_o offence_n from_o his_o heart_n i_o will_v add_v this_o unto_o that_o that_o have_v be_v already_o speak_v that_o god_n do_v lay_v even_o this_o particular_a stroke_n of_o his_o wrath_n namely_o a_o wound_a conscience_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o sin_n upon_o his_o elect_a and_o therefore_o that_o wrath_n be_v no_o evidence_n of_o reprobation_n the_o prophet_n david_n bear_v this_o stroke_n of_o god_n wrath_n whereof_o he_o speak_v thus_o thy_o arrow_n have_v light_a upon_o 2._o 〈◊〉_d and_o thou_o handly_v upon_o i_o there_o be_v nothing_o sound_a in_o my_o flesh_n because_o of_o thy_o anger_n neither_o be_v there_o rest_n in_o my_o bone_n by_o reason_n of_o my_o sin_n for_o my_o iniquity_n be_v go_v over_o my_o head_n and_o as_o a_o weighty_a pierce_v he_o and_o it_o be_v not_o a_o weak_a stroke_n or_o slight_a touch_n but_o forcible_a and_o fearful_a so_o that_o it_o make_v the_o whole_a man_n languish_v and_o for_o the_o anguish_n of_o his_o soul_n his_o body_n also_o be_v consume_v and_o oppress_v with_o pain_n and_o feebleness_n so_o that_o neither_o in_o his_o flesh_n nor_o in_o his_o bone_n remain_v any_o soundness_n and_o what_o stroke_n of_o god_n wrath_n be_v it_o but_o even_o this_o particular_a stroke_n of_o accuse_v thought_n and_o of_o a_o wound_a conscience_n by_o reason_n of_o sin_n that_o be_v so_o heavy_a a_o burdthen_n that_o the_o vexation_n of_o they_o be_v his_o consumption_n and_o be_v david_n upon_o who_o this_o stroke_n of_o wrath_n fall_v be_v he_o a_o reprobate_a if_o he_o be_v he_o be_v such_o a_o reprobate_a as_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n be_v and_o no_o other_o nor_o otherwise_o who_o the_o builder_n refuse_v &_o cast_v aside_o as_o unfit_a for_o the_o build_n but_o god_n make_v he_o the_o chief_a corner_n stone_n as_o peter_n say_v this_o be_v the_o stone_n 11._o cast_v aside_o of_o you_o builder_n which_o be_v become_v the_o head_n of_o the_o corner_n so_o in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o israel_n saul_n doeg_n and_o other_o busy_a doer_n despise_v and_o cast_v aside_o the_o son_n os_fw-la ishai_n but_o god_n do_v choose_v he_o to_o build_v the_o kingdom_n of_o israel_n this_o therefore_o be_v most_o certain_a that_o even_o this_o stroke_n of_o god_n wrath_n when_o he_o set_v our_o sin_n in_o order_n against_o we_o be_v no_o more_o a_o sign_n of_o reprobation_n than_o any_o other_o stroke_n of_o god_n wrath_n whatsoever_o this_o part_n therefore_o of_o his_o objection_n when_o he_o call_v himself_o a_o reprobate_n be_v a_o bold_a and_o desperate_a speech_n wherein_o he_o show_v himself_o presumptuous_a against_o god_n and_o uncharitable_a against_o himself_o and_o whether_o he_o be_v a_o reprobate_n or_o not_o he_o ought_v not_o to_o pronounce_v himself_o to_o be_v one_o the_o name_n of_o reprobation_n have_v reference_n unto_o the_o unknown_a and_o secret_a counsel_n of_o god_n not_o unto_o the_o know_a and_o manifest_a sin_n of_o man_n and_o though_o our_o sin_n deserve_v reprobation_n &_o god_n wrath_n fall_v upon_o they_o that_o be_v reprobate_a yet_o neither_o the_o sin_n that_o we_o be_v guilty_a of_o nor_o the_o wrath_n that_o be_v fall_v upon_o we_o for_o that_o sin_n though_o it_o be_v this_o particular_a stroke_n of_o a_o wound_a conscience_n can_v be_v say_v to_o be_v argument_n of_o reprobation_n seat_n and_o whereas_o he_o say_v that_o we_o devise_v answer_n to_o his_o objection_n that_o carry_v show_v of_o strength_n among_o man_n but_o those_o his_o obiction_n be_v unanswerable_a before_o god_n and_o our_o devise_a answer_n before_o he_o will_v be_v of_o no_o virtue_n let_v he_o know_v that_o the_o answer_n which_o we_o have_v make_v to_o his_o objection_n be_v all_o ground_a upon_o the_o word_n of_o god_n by_o which_o word_n he_o shall_v judge_v all_o man_n and_o all_o the_o cause_n of_o all_o man_n as_o the_o lord_n jesus_n say_v the_o 48_o word_n that_o i_o have_v speak_v it_o shall_v judge_v in_o the_o last_o day_n and_o therefore_o our_o answer_n be_v ground_v upon_o that_o word_n shall_v stand_v as_o rule_v of_o truth_n before_o the_o judgement_n seat_n of_o god_n when_o all_o the_o objection_n that_o he_o have_v make_v grow_v only_o from_o fear_n and_o from_o a_o weak_a heart_n distemper_v with_o a_o temptation_n of_o unbelief_n shall_v be_v find_v to_o be_v of_o no_o force_n and_o with_o this_o assurance_n of_o the_o sufficiency_n of_o our_o answer_n we_o wait_v to_o hear_v what_o he_o can_v further_o object_v why_o he_o may_v not_o hope_v for_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o pardonable_a sin_n
