follow_a consideration_n 1._o because_o i_o well_o know_v that_o it_o be_v these_o common_a truth_n that_o be_v the_o great_a and_o necessary_a thing_n which_o man_n everlasting_a happiness_n or_o misery_n do_v most_o depend_v upon_o you_o may_v be_v ignorant_a of_o many_o controversy_n and_o inferior_a point_n without_o the_o danger_n of_o your_o soul_n but_o so_o you_o can_v of_o these_o fundamental_o 2._o because_o its_o apparent_a by_o the_o life_n of_o man_n that_o few_o know_v these_o common_a truth_n save_o thou_o think_v they_o know_v they_o 3._o because_o there_o be_v several_a degree_n of_o know_v the_o same_o truth_n and_o the_o best_a be_v imperfect_a in_o degree_n the_o principal_a growth_n in_o knowledge_n that_o we_o shall_v look_v after_o be_v not_o to_o know_v more_o matter_n than_o we_o know_v before_o but_o to_o know_v that_o better_a and_o with_o a_o clear_a light_n and_o firm_a apprehension_n which_o we_o dark_o and_o slight_o know_v before_o you_o may_v more_o safe_o be_v without_o any_o knowledge_n at_o all_o of_o many_o low_a truth_n then_o without_o some_o further_a degree_n of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o those_o which_o you_o already_o know_v 4._o beside_o it_o be_v know_v by_o sad_a experience_n that_o many_o perish_v who_o know_v the_o truth_n for_o want_v of_o the_o consideration_n ofâ—_n and_o make_v use_n of_o what_o they_o know_v and_o so_o their_o knowledge_n do_v but_o condemn_v they_o we_o have_v as_o much_o need_n therefore_o to_o teach_v and_o help_v you_o to_o get_v these_o truth_n which_o you_o know_v into_o your_o heart_n and_o life_n as_o to_o tell_v you_o more_o 5._o and_o indeed_o it_o be_v the_o impression_n of_o these_o great_a and_o master-truths_n wherein_o the_o vital_n and_o essential_o of_o god_n image_n upon_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n do_v consist_v and_o it_o be_v these_o truth_n that_o be_v the_o very_a instrument_n of_o the_o great_a work_n that_o be_v to_o be_v do_v upon_o the_o heart_n by_o the_o spirit_n and_o ourselves_o in_o the_o right_a use_n of_o these_o it_o be_v that_o the_o principal_a part_n of_o the_o skill_n and_o holy_a wisdom_n of_o a_o christian_a do_v consist_v and_o in_o the_o diligent_a and_o constant_a use_n of_o these_o lie_v the_o life_n and_o trade_n of_o christianity_n there_o be_v nothing_o amiss_o in_o man_n heart_n or_o life_n but_o it_o be_v for_o want_v of_o scripture_n they_o stand_v or_o fall_v with_o their_o parent_n and_o on_o the_o same_o term_n but_o i_o leave_v each_o to_o their_o own_o thought_n vii_o for_o the_o seven_o head_n what_o will_v be_v the_o cause_n of_o the_o day_n to_o be_v inquire_v after_o what_o the_o accusation_n and_o what_o the_o defence_n answ_n this_o may_v be_v gather_v from_o what_o be_v last_o say_v the_o great_a cause_n of_o the_o day_n will_v be_v to_o inquire_v and_o determine_v who_o shall_v die_v and_o who_o shall_v live_v who_o ought_v to_o go_v to_o heaven_n and_o who_o to_o hell_n for_o ever_o according_a to_o the_o law_n by_o which_o they_o must_v then_o be_v judge_v 1._o as_o there_o be_v a_o twofold_a law_n by_o which_o they_o must_v be_v judge_v so_o will_v there_o then_o be_v a_o able_a to_o acquaint_v they_o with_o the_o impenitency_n and_o unholiness_n of_o their_o own_o heart_n and_o the_o necessity_n of_o a_o new_a heart_n and_o life_n yet_o we_o can_v do_v it_o but_o they_o will_v believe_v whether_o we_o will_v or_o not_o that_o the_o old_a heart_n will_v serve_v the_o turn_n but_o how_o easy_o will_v god_n make_v they_o know_v the_o contrary_a we_o plead_v plead_v with_o they_o as_o in_o the_o open_a light_n see_v here_o thy_o own_o unholy_a soul_n can_v thou_o now_o say_v thou_o do_v love_v i_o above_o all_o can_v thou_o deny_v but_o thou_o do_v love_v this_o world_n before_o i_o and_o serve_v thy_o flesh_n and_o lust_n though_o i_o tell_v thou_o if_o thou_o do_v so_o thou_o shall_v die_v look_v upon_o thy_o own_o heart_n now_o and_o see_v whether_o it_o be_v a_o holy_a or_o a_o unholy_a heart_n a_o spiritual_a or_o

will_v appear_v at_o judgement_n and_o whether_o they_o will_v be_v then_o pleasant_a or_o displeasant_a to_o you_o so_o when_o you_o be_v tempt_v to_o neglect_v the_o daily_o worship_v of_o god_n in_o your_o family_n and_o the_o catechise_v and_o teach_v of_o your_o child_n or_o servant_n especial_o on_o the_o lord_n day_n bethink_v yourselves_o then_o what_o account_v you_o will_v give_v of_o this_o to_o christ_n when_o he_o that_o entrust_v you_o with_o the_o care_n of_o your_o child_n and_o servant_n shall_v call_v you_o to_o a_o reckon_n for_o the_o performance_n of_o that_o trust_n word_n and_o when_o you_o be_v on_o your_o knee_n to_o god_n in_o prayer_n in_o what_o a_o manner_n that_o same_o person_n even_o yourselves_o must_v short_o stand_v at_o the_o bar_n of_o the_o dreadful_a god_n do_v these_o thought_n get_v thorough_o to_o man_n heart_n they_o will_v waken_v they_o out_o of_o their_o sleepy_a devotion_n and_o acquaint_v they_o that_o it_o be_v a_o serious_a business_n to_o be_v a_o christian_n how_o careful_a shall_v we_o be_v of_o our_o thought_n and_o word_n if_o we_o believe_o remember_v that_o we_o must_v be_v accountable_a for_o they_o all_o how_o careful_o shall_v we_o consider_v what_o we_o do_v with_o our_o riches_n and_o with_o all_o that_o god_n give_v we_o and_o how_o much_o more_o large_o shall_v we_o expend_v it_o for_o his_o service_n in_o work_n of_o piety_n and_o charity_n if_o we_o believe_o remember_v that_o we_o must_v be_v judge_v according_a to_o what_o we_o have_v do_v and_o give_v account_n of_o every_o talon_n that_o we_o receive_v certain_o the_o believe_a consideration_n of_o judgement_n may_v make_v we_o all_o better_a christian_n than_o we_o be_v and_o keep_v our_o life_n in_o a_o more_o innocent_a and_o profitable_a frame_n the_o eleven_o direction_n as_o you_o will_v certain_o renew_v your_o fail_n in_o this_o life_n so_o be_v sure_a that_o you_o daily_o renew_v your_o repentance_n and_o fly_v daily_a to_o christ_n for_o a_o renew_a pardon_n that_o no_o sin_n may_v leave_v its_o sting_n in_o your_o soul_n it_o be_v not_o your_o first_o pardon_n that_o will_v serve_v the_o turn_n for_o your_o latter_a sin_n not_o that_o you_o must_v purpose_v to_o sin_n and_o purpose_v to_o repent_v when_o you_o have_v do_v as_o a_o remedy_n for_o that_o be_v a_o hypocritical_a and_o wicked_a purpose_n of_o repent_v which_o be_v make_v a_o mean_n to_o maintain_v we_o in_o our_o sin_n but_o sin_n must_v be_v avoid_v as_o far_o as_o we_o can_v and_o repentance_n and_o faith_n in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n must_v remedy_v that_o which_o we_o can_v not_o avoid_v the_o righteousness_n of_o pardon_n in_o christ_n blood_n be_v useful_a to_o we_o only_o so_o far_o as_o we_o be_v public_a assemble_v steal_v the_o word_n out_o of_o their_o heart_n fill_v they_o with_o vain_a and_o wander_a thought_n blind_a their_o mind_n that_o they_o can_v understand_v the_o plain_a word_n that_o we_o be_v able_a to_o speak_v to_o they_o and_o fill_v they_o with_o a_o proud_a rebellion_n against_o the_o direction_n of_o their_o teacher_n and_o a_o obstinate_a refusal_n to_o be_v rule_v worldliness_n and_o ungodliness_n and_o turn_v out_o god_n service_n so_o that_o they_o do_v not_o pray_v together_o once_o in_o a_o day_n or_o perhaps_o at_o all_o how_o familiar_o do_v satan_n use_v their_o tongue_n in_o curse_v swear_v lie_a ribaldry_n backbiting_a or_o slander_v and_o be_v it_o not_o just_a with_o god_n to_o make_v these_o fiend_n their_o familiar_n in_o torment_n with_o who_o they_o entertain_v such_o familiarity_n in_o sin_n as_o christ_n with_o all_o the_o bless_a angel_n and_o saint_n will_v make_v but_o one_o kingdom_n or_o family_n and_o shall_v live_v altogether_o god_n do_v give_v it_o you_o for_o that_o end_n when_o you_o go_v to_o bed_n examine_v your_o heart_n what_o you_o have_v do_v that_o day_n in_o preparation_n for_o your_o last_o day_n and_o take_v that_o time_n as_o lose_v which_o do_v nothing_o to_o this_o end_n the_o four_o direction_n use_v frequent_o to_o think_v of_o the_o certainty_n nearness_n and_o dreadfulness_n of_o that_o day_n to_o keep_v life_n in_o your_o affection_n and_o endeavour_n lest_o by_o inconsiderateness_n your_o soul_n grow_v stupid_a and_o negligent_a otherwise_o because_o it_o be_v out_o of_o sight_n the_o heart_n will_v be_v apt_a to_o grow_v harden_v and_o secure_a and_o do_v not_o think_v of_o it_o slight_o as_o a_o common_a thing_n but_o purposely_o set_v yourselves_o to_o think_v of_o it_o that_o it_o may_v rouse_v you_o up_o to_o such_o affection_n and_o endeavour_n as_o in_o some_o measure_n be_v answerable_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o thing_n the_o five_o direction_n labour_v to_o have_v a_o lively_a feel_n on_o thy_o heart_n of_o the_o evil_a and_o weight_n of_o that_o sin_n which_o thou_o be_v guilty_a of_o and_o of_o the_o misery_n into_o which_o it_o have_v bring_v thou_o and_o will_v further_o bring_v thou_o if_o thou_o be_v not_o deliver_v and_o so_o to_o feel_v the_o need_n of_o a_o deliverer_n this_o must_v prepare_v thou_o to_o partake_v of_o christ_n now_o and_o if_o thou_o partake_v not_o of_o he_o now_o thou_o can_v not_o be_v save_v by_o he_o then._n it_o be_v these_o soul_n that_o now_o make_v light_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o misery_n that_o must_v then_o feel_v they_o so_o heavy_a as_o to_o be_v press_v by_o they_o into_o the_o infernal_a flame_n and_o those_o that_o now_o feel_v little_a need_n of_o a_o saviour_n they_o shall_v then_o have_v none_o to_o save_v they_o when_o they_o feel_v their_o need_n the_o six_o direction_n understand_v and_o believe_v the_o sufficiency_n of_o that_o ransom_n and_o satisfaction_n to_o justice_n which_o christ_n have_v make_v for_o thy_o sin_n and_o for_o the_o world_n and_o how_o free_o and_o universal_o it_o be_v offer_v in_o the_o gospel_n thy_o sin_n be_v not_o uncurable_a or_o unpardonable_a nor_o thy_o misery_n remediless_a god_n have_v provide_v a_o remedy_n in_o his_o son_n christ_n and_o bring_v it_o so_o near_o thy_o hand_n that_o nothing_o but_o thy_o neglect_v or_o wilful_a refuse_v it_o can_v deprive_v thou_o of_o the_o benefit_n settle_v thy_o soul_n in_o this_o belief_n the_o seven_o direction_n understand_v and_o believe_v that_o for_o all_o christ_n satisfaction_n there_o be_v a_o absolute_a necessity_n of_o sound_a faith_n and_o repentancte_fw-la to_o be_v in_o thy_o own_o self_n before_o thou_o can_v be_v a_o member_n of_o he_o or_o be_v pardon_v adopt_a or_o justify_v by_o his_o blood_n he_o die_v not_o for_o final_a infidelity_n and_o impenitency_n as_o predominant_a in_o any_o soul_n as_o the_o law_n of_o his_o father_n which_o occasion_v his_o suffering_n require_v perfect_a obedience_n or_o suffer_v so_o his_o own_o law_n which_o he_o have_v make_v for_o the_o conveyance_n of_o his_o benefit_n do_v require_v yet_o true_a faith_n and_o repentance_n of_o man_n themselves_o before_o they_o shall_v be_v pardon_v by_o he_o and_o sincere_a obedience_n and_o perseverance_n before_o they_o shall_v be_v glorify_v the_o eight_o direction_n rest_v not_o therefore_o in_o a_o unrenewed_a unsanctified_a state_n that_o be_v till_o this_o faith_n and_o repentance_n be_v wrought_v on_o thy_o own_o soul_n and_o thou_o be_v true_o break_v of_o from_o thy_o former_a sinful_a course_n and_o from_o all_o thing_n in_o this_o world_n and_o be_v dedicate_v devote_v and_o resign_v unto_o god_n see_v this_o change_n must_v be_v make_v and_o these_o grace_n must_v be_v while_o thou_o be_v in_o so_o sad_a a_o case_n which_o way_n ever_o thou_o be_v go_v or_o what_o ever_o thou_o be_v do_v it_o shall_v still_o come_v into_o thy_o thought_n oh_o what_o if_o i_o shall_v die_v before_o i_o be_v regenerate_v and_o have_v part_n in_o christ_n the_o nine_o direction_n let_v it_o be_v the_o daily_a care_n of_o thy_o soul_n to_o mortify_v thy_o fleshly_a desire_n and_o overcome_v this_o world_n and_o live_v as_o in_o a_o continual_a conflict_n with_o satan_n which_o will_v not_o be_v end_v till_o thy_o life_n do_v end_n if_o any_o thing_n destroy_v thou_o by_o
