take_v the_o benefit_n of_o the_o magistrate_n if_o the_o matter_n be_v of_o weight_n and_o can_v be_v well_o end_v otherwise_o yea_o if_o he_o be_v set_v upon_o and_o violence_n offer_v to_o he_o that_o how_o wise_a or_o ancient_a soever_o can_v put_v life_n into_o a_o man_n so_o nor_o to_o mingle_v man_n word_n with_o god_n it_o have_v no_o need_n of_o help_n from_o man_n testimony_n let_v of_o that_o state_n and_o wonder_v that_o ever_o they_o can_v be_v so_o careless_a in_o such_o deadly_a danger_n and_o plain_o see_v that_o if_o they_o have_v so_o die_v they_o have_v go_v to_o hell_n who_o yet_o then_o think_v their_o case_n as_o good_a as_o you_o wherein_o they_o will_v not_o now_o be_v for_o all_o the_o world_n as_o if_o one_o in_o a_o dark_a night_n or_o asleep_o on_o his_o to_o bring_v peace_n namely_o in_o evil_n but_o a_o sword_n and_o debate_n 21._o but_o the_o fault_n be_v not_o in_o the_o gospel_n but_o in_o they_o that_o embrace_v it_o not_o for_o they_o that_o fast_o in_o the_o main_a as_o he_o do_v not_o great_o strive_v to_o bring_v they_o to_o gross_a sin_n because_o he_o be_v sure_a enough_o of_o they_o otherwise_o now_o he_o fear_v he_o shall_v lose_v they_o therefore_o labour_v this_o way_n &_o the_o rather_o because_o he_o will_v discredit_v the_o gospel_n he_o know_v their_o civility_n can_v do_v their_o soul_n no_o pleasure_n and_o that_o be_v void_a of_o faith_n it_o please_v not_o god_n therefore_o he_o let_v they_o alone_o and_o the_o rather_o that_o that_o religion_n may_v be_v the_o better_a thought_n of_o now_o to_o disgrace_v the_o superstitious_a &_o profane_a but_o now_o zealous_a christian_n true_a and_o religious_a worshipper_n of_o god_n and_o such_o as_o live_v just_o and_o righteous_o with_o their_o neighbour_n
all_o that_o be_v not_o as_o they_o shall_v be_v whereas_o they_o shall_v by_o a_o wise_a meek_a and_o moderate_a defence_n and_o kind_a persuasion_n win_v credit_n to_o the_o truth_n which_o they_o defend_v and_o so_o do_v good_a they_o on_o the_o contrary_a cause_n they_o to_o speak_v evil_a and_o to_o think_v that_o it_o be_v but_o a_o preposterous_a hate_n and_o pride_n of_o heart_n in_o they_o so_o to_o speak_v and_o so_o do_v hurt_v some_o sober_a christian_n do_v much_o good_a and_o win_v on_o many_o that_o at_o first_o be_v opposite_a when_o they_o hear_v the_o wait_n of_o their_o another_o to_o know_v that_o i_o know_v it_o think_v it_o remember_v it_o now_o in_o which_o part_n of_o the_o soul_n it_o have_v its_o place_n as_o whether_o in_o the_o understanding_n or_o will_n or_o in_o every_o part_n of_o the_o soul_n i_o will_v not_o stand_v it_o be_v enough_o for_o we_o to_o know_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o faculty_n in_o man_n soul._n true_a it_o be_v it_o not_o only_o give_v witness_n of_o all_o the_o faculty_n &_o tell_v what_o i_o think_v desire_v affect_v etc._n etc._n but_o it_o use_v and_o work_v upon_o all_o the_o faculty_n as_o the_o understanding_n for_o by_o it_o it_o direct_v and_o according_a to_o it_o it_o do_v accuse_v so_o as_o if_o the_o judgement_n be_v well_o inform_v the_o conscience_n will_v give_v right_a witness_n if_o ignorant_a or_o ill_o inform_v than_o it_o give_v wrong_a testimony_n so_o the_o memory_n accuse_v or_o excuse_v for_o thing_n past_a so_o it_o work_v upon_o the_o will_n by_o provoke_v it_o to_o choose_v or_o refuse_v this_o or_o that_o so_o it_o work_v upon_o the_o affection_n raise_v up_o in_o we_o comfort_n and_o joy_n upon_o well_o do_v fear_n and_o grief_n upon_o ill-doing_n now_o though_o it_o have_v to_o do_v with_o all_o yet_o it_o may_v have_v its_o proper_a place_n in_o the_o understanding_n and_o mind_n according_a to_o the_o judgement_n of_o most_o divine_n of_o a_o man_n for_o no_o creature_n on_o earth_n have_v conscience_n but_o man_n true_a the_o angel_n be_v not_o without_o it_o the_o good_a have_v a_o good_a comfortable_a excuse_v joyful_a conscience_n the_o evil_a a_o woeful_a ill_a accuse_v and_o torment_a conscience_n which_o be_v so_o much_o the_o worse_o for_o that_o they_o know_v so_o much_o and_o be_v so_o malicious_o bend_v against_o it_o so_o that_o even_o when_o they_o be_v not_o in_o the_o place_n of_o torment_n but_o have_v leave_v to_o range_v the_o world_n yet_o they_o carry_v hell_n with_o they_o even_o a_o torment_a conscience_n whereof_o their_o tremble_a according_a to_o saint_n james_n be_v a_o evident_a testimony_n 19_o but_o no_o other_o creature_n have_v it_o for_o have_v no_o reason_n they_o have_v no_o conscience_n therefore_o we_o and_o therefore_o it_o will_v give_v this_o judgement_n in_o foul_a and_o gross_a thing_n in_o the_o worst_a of_o all_o as_o when_o they_o go_v to_o commit_v murder_n adultery_n etc._n etc._n or_o tell_v they_o on_o the_o other_o side_n they_o shall_v go_v to_o church_n etc._n etc._n but_o in_o the_o regenerate_a it_o do_v much_o good_a work_n it_o be_v as_o a_o guide_n to_o conduct_v we_o in_o our_o way_n and_o whereby_o we_o shun_v all_o by_o path_n it_o be_v a_o bridle_n to_o keep_v we_o from_o sin_n and_o a_o spur_n to_o goodness_n it_o be_v join_v in_o commission_n with_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n they_o be_v obey_v or_o reject_v together_o 1._o our_o duty_n then_o in_o token_n of_o our_o thankfulness_n be_v 1_o that_o we_o listen_v to_o the_o voice_n of_o conscience_n and_o be_v it_o be_v therefore_o no_o note_n or_o sign_n of_o grace_n in_o any_o because_o their_o conscience_n do_v thus_o and_o thus_o this_o be_v in_o mere_a natural_a man_n from_o the_o light_n and_o
