be_v rise_v in_o cheshire_n and_o be_v so_o near_o the_o time_n that_o i_o expect_v and_o foreshow_v his_o majesty_n restauration_n i_o take_v a_o young_a philly_n that_o i_o have_v of_o three_o year_n old_a and_o in_o a_o very_a cold_a snow_n and_o frost_n in_o january_n i_o go_v soft_a and_o fair_a towards_o london_n hope_v that_o now_o so_o many_o man_n look_v after_o the_o come_n in_o of_o our_o king_n and_o colonel_n monk_n expect_v to_o assist_v he_o i_o shall_v have_v my_o great_a antichrist_n publish_v yet_o still_o the_o rump_n be_v so_o strong_a that_o it_o can_v not_o be_v therefore_o i_o be_v fain_o to_o retire_v towards_o wales_n again_o and_o go_v from_o my_o house_n by_o tocester_n where_o i_o have_v leave_v my_o mare_n some_o ten_o mile_n in_o a_o frosty_a morning_n a_o foot_n i_o afterward_o go_v a_o horseback_n but_o have_v not_o rid_v one_o quarter_n of_o a_o mile_n but_o my_o mare_n who_o all_o my_o neighbour_n there_o say_v she_o be_v great_a with_o foal_n lay_v down_o under_o i_o and_o i_o fear_v she_o will_v cast_v her_o foal_n and_o so_o perhaps_o lose_v my_o mare_n or_o force_v to_o leave_v she_o behind_o i_o be_v resolve_v to_o lead_v she_o in_o my_o hand_n and_o so_o i_o do_v from_o that_o place_n which_o be_v daintry_n to_o my_o house_n in_o wales_n about_o seven_o score_n mile_n the_o way_n be_v somewhat_o fair_a in_o the_o latter_a end_n of_o march._n then_o have_v some_o occasion_n to_o go_v to_o ireland_n be_v at_o holy_a head_n i_o have_v notice_n with_o the_o post_n from_o london_n that_o the_o parliament_n according_a as_o i_o find_v in_o scripture_n have_v vote_v the_o come_n in_o of_o the_o king_n and_o i_o land_v in_o dublin_n about_o seven_o of_o the_o clock_n the_o next_o morning_n be_v sunday_n preach_v at_o st._n bride_n and_o public_o pray_v for_o the_o king_n i_o be_o sure_a the_o first_o man_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o ireland_n and_o the_o next_o morning_n go_v towards_o kilkenny_n and_o go_v to_o donmore_n to_o present_v my_o service_n to_o my_o lady_n of_o ormond_n i_o find_v she_o as_o she_o be_v ever_o the_o most_o honourable_a of_o all_o the_o lady_n that_o ever_o i_o know_v and_o take_v i_o aside_o inform_v i_o of_o the_o state_n of_o kilkenny_n and_o of_o all_o thing_n thereabouts_o so_o i_o go_v to_o kilkenny_n and_o preach_v there_o and_o public_o pray_v for_o his_o majesty_n the_o next_o sunday_n after_o i_o have_v do_v the_o like_a at_o dublin_n and_o then_o haste_v back_o to_o dublin_n and_o from_o thence_o without_o stay_n to_o holy_a head_n and_o rest_v but_o one_o night_n in_o my_o own_o house_n i_o ride_v as_o fast_o as_o i_o can_v to_o london_n and_o have_v leave_v all_o the_o land_n that_o i_o have_v in_o ireland_n in_o pawn_n for_o 100_o li._n which_o my_o own_o self_n carry_v to_o london_n i_o agree_v for_o the_o print_n of_o my_o great_a antichrist_n and_o immediate_o after_o his_o majesty_n happy_a arrival_n in_o london_n have_v the_o same_o print_v in_o three_o printing-house_n and_o myself_o pay_v for_o the_o print_n of_o it_o with_o ready_a money_n i_o get_v it_o present_o do_v and_o present_v it_o to_o his_o majesty_n who_o very_o gracious_o accept_v thereof_o but_o one_o of_o my_o countryman_n have_v beg_v of_o his_o majesty_n the_o deanery_n of_o bangor_n yet_o when_o i_o inform_v his_o majesty_n that_o my_o good_a king_n and_o gracious_a master_n his_o father_n have_v confer_v it_o upon_o i_o to_o hold_v it_o in_o commendum_fw-la so_o firm_a as_o law_n can_v make_v it_o his_o majesty_n be_v most_o gracious_o please_v present_o to_o send_v to_o sir_n edward_n nicholas_n to_o recall_v the_o grant_n that_o he_o have_v make_v to_o mr._n lloyd_n but_o the_o same_o be_v pass_v to_o the_o great_a seal_n my_o lord_n chancellor_n to_o who_o i_o ever_o be_v very_o much_o oblige_v know_v my_o faithfulness_n to_o my_o late_a king_n and_o best_a master_n and_o my_o suffering_n for_o he_o do_v most_o honourable_o stop_v it_o before_o i_o can_v come_v unto_o his_o lordship_n and_o so_o by_o his_o majesty_n and_o my_o lord_n chancellor_n goodness_n i_o still_o enjoy_v my_o master_n favour_n then_o thing_n be_v somewhat_o settle_v i_o go_v to_o live_v upon_o my_o bishopric_n in_o kilkenny_n where_o i_o find_v the_o cathedral_n church_n and_o the_o bishop_n house_n all_o ruin_v and_o nothing_o stand_v but_o the_o bare_a wall_n without_o roof_n without_o window_n but_o the_o hole_n and_o without_o door_n yet_o i_o resolve_v present_o to_o mend_v and_o repair_v one_o room_n and_o to_o live_v in_o the_o bishop_n house_n and_o as_o i_o have_v vow_v that_o if_o i_o shall_v ever_o come_v to_o my_o bishopric_n i_o shall_v whole_o and_o full_o bestow_v the_o first_o year_n profit_v for_o the_o reparation_n of_o the_o church_n so_o my_o witness_n be_v in_o heaven_n that_o i_o have_v do_v it_o and_o have_v since_o bestow_v more_o as_o forty_o pound_n the_o last_o summer_n for_o repair_v the_o steeple_n of_o the_o cathedral_n l._n cathedral_n and_o this_o summer_n six_o score_n pound_n for_o to_o make_v a_o bell_n worth_n they_o say_v 200_o l._n and_o yet_o a_o thousand_o pound_n more_o will_v not_o sufficient_o repair_v that_o church_n which_o i_o vow_v to_o bestow_v if_o i_o recover_v the_o bishop_n house_n and_o live_v to_o it_o and_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o cost_n more_o i_o lay_v out_o upon_o the_o bishop_n house_n yet_o now_o begin_v my_o oppression_n which_o grieve_v i_o much_o more_o than_o my_o persecution_n because_o my_o persecution_n be_v personal_a and_o concern_v myself_o alone_o but_o my_o oppression_n do_v now_o reach_v to_o the_o dishonour_n of_o god_n and_o the_o rob_n of_o jesus_n christ_n of_o his_o service_n and_o the_o destruction_n of_o his_o servant_n when_o as_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n can_v be_v rule_v without_o governor_n nor_o instruct_v without_o teacher_n and_o neither_o of_o they_o can_v subsist_v without_o maintenance_n and_o yet_o now_o nobleman_n and_o gentleman_n soldier_n and_o citizen_n and_o all_o think_v no_o bread_n so_o sweet_a no_o wine_n so_o pleasant_a as_o that_o which_o they_o snatch_v from_o the_o altar_n and_o no_o land_n so_o fertile_a as_o that_o which_o they_o hold_v from_o the_o church_n and_o keep_v it_o by_o force_n from_o the_o churchman_n and_o to_o give_v you_o a_o taste_n of_o this_o truth_n i_o have_v print_v a_o narrative_a and_o a_o true_a relation_n of_o a_o law_n proceed_v betwixt_o myself_o and_o sir_n george_n ayskue_n a_o civil_a gentleman_n i_o confess_v and_o one_o that_o have_v be_v vice-admiral_n to_o the_o long_a parliament_n but_o now_o be_v very_o faithful_a to_o our_o present_a king_n and_o sorry_a for_o what_o he_o have_v be_v as_o i_o very_o believe_v and_o be_v a_o man_n of_o a_o very_a fair_a carriage_n and_o of_o very_o good_a part_n yet_o bewitch_v with_o the_o disguise_a spirit_n of_o sacrilege_n to_o hold_v fast_o in_o his_o hand_n the_o land_n of_o the_o church_n and_o not_o only_o he_o but_o many_o other_o be_v sick_a of_o the_o same_o disease_n as_o appear_v by_o the_o subsequent_a of_o this_o relation_n a_o true_a relation_n of_o a_o law-proceeding_a betwixt_o the_o right_n reverend_a father_n in_o god_n griffith_n l._n bishop_n of_o ossory_n and_o sir_n george_n ayskue_n knight_n etc._n etc._n show_n that_o the_o lordship_n of_o bishop_n court_n alias_z upper_z court_n belong_v to_o the_o bishop_n of_o ossory_n and_o as_o i_o be_o inform_v jo._n bale_n bishop_n of_o ossory_n dwell_v in_o the_o manor_n house_n thereof_o and_o be_v from_o thence_o drive_v by_o the_o tory_n in_o queen_n mary_n day_n to_o flee_v to_o geneva_n to_o save_v his_o life_n when_o he_o look_v out_o at_o his_o window_n see_v his_o steward_n speak_v and_o follow_v my_o business_n to_o the_o uttermost_a and_o i_o thank_v god_n have_v ability_n to_o go_v through_o with_o it_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o thou_o and_o thy_o cause_n that_o be_v a_o poor_a man_n when_o thou_o swim_a against_o the_o stream_n and_o kick_v against_o the_o prick_n therefore_o i_o advise_v thou_o rather_o in_o such_o a_o case_n to_o cry_v to_o god_n than_o complain_v to_o any_o judge_n lest_o that_o as_o the_o poet_n say_v excessit_fw-la medicina_fw-la modum_fw-la thy_o remedy_n will_v prove_v worse_o than_o thy_o disease_n for_o thou_o see_v how_o i_o be_o serve_v put_v our_o of_o my_o house_n and_o spend_v above_o 60_o li._n and_o have_v no_o redress_n 2._o if_o this_o proceed_n and_o deal_n with_o i_o be_v as_o i_o conceive_v it_o not_o so_o fair_a and_o so_o just_a as_o it_o shall_v be_v both_o for_o the_o king_n and_o myself_o that_o be_o eject_v out_o of_o my_o house_n and_o land_n then_o i_o conceive_v his_o majesty_n and_o the_o parliament_n shall_v to_o prevent_v the_o like_a oppression_n and_o wrong_n to_o poor_a man_n provide_v a_o easy_a and_o plain_a way_n to_o relieve_v the_o oppress_a and_o to_o set_v down_o a_o usual_a form_n of_o indictment_n or_o to_o cause_n that_o the_o indictment_n shall_v not_o be_v so_o easy_o and_o so_o frequent_o upon_o every_o lawyer_n motion_n quash_v as_o they_o be_v report_v to_o be_v especial_o when_o the_o matter_n of_o force_n be_v plain_a and_o evident_o prove_v and_o this_o redress_n of_o injury_n i_o petition_v and_o move_v for_o for_o these_o four_o special_a reason_n 1._o because_o the_o difficulty_n of_o frame_v the_o indictment_n so_o that_o a_o cunning_a lawyer_n can_v easy_o find_v a_o fault_n and_o a_o flaw_n in_o it_o and_o then_o the_o frequent_a quash_a of_o such_o indictment_n as_o be_v find_v faulty_a be_v a_o great_a wrong_n to_o his_o majesty_n in_o deprive_v he_o of_o those_o fine_n that_o otherwise_o be_v due_a and_o shall_v be_v render_v unto_o he_o 2._o it_o be_v a_o great_a abuse_n and_o injury_n unto_o the_o poor_a subject_n that_o shall_v be_v drive_v out_o of_o his_o possession_n and_o for_o want_v of_o a_o sufficient_a clerk_n or_o counsellor_n to_o draw_v the_o right_a form_n of_o his_o indictment_n which_o as_o i_o see_v few_o can_v do_v he_o shall_v both_o spend_v his_o money_n and_o lose_v his_o labour_n and_o perhaps_o he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o do_v as_o i_o do_v three_o or_o four_o time_n to_o draw_v indictment_n till_o he_o find_v one_o that_o may_v stand_v good_a 3._o this_o frequent_a quash_a of_o indictment_n be_v a_o great_a encouragement_n for_o oppressor_n and_o wicked_a man_n to_o wrong_v their_o neighbour_n more_o and_o more_o for_o say_v they_o i_o will_v enter_v upon_o he_o and_o thrust_v he_o out_o and_o if_o he_o do_v indite_v i_o i_o will_v remove_v it_o to_o the_o king_n bench_n and_o i_o shall_v find_v a_o lawyer_n that_o will_v quash_n his_o indictment_n by_o and_o by_o 4._o this_o very_a practice_n and_o proceed_n may_v be_v fear_v to_o prove_v the_o very_a bane_n and_o destruction_n of_o whole_a nation_n and_o kingdom_n for_o if_o righteousness_n exalt_v a_o nation_n and_o a_o kingdom_n be_v translate_v from_o one_o nation_n to_o another_o people_n because_o of_o unrighteousness_n as_o solomon_n say_v and_o as_o we_o may_v read_v it_o in_o all_o history_n then_o you_o may_v see_v how_o requisite_a it_o be_v for_o king_n and_o prince_n to_o look_v to_o those_o thing_n and_o not_o to_o suffer_v unrighteous_a judge_n either_o for_o favour_n to_o one_o or_o hatred_n to_o another_o to_o do_v what_o they_o listen_v and_o to_o make_v their_o law_n like_o a_o nose_n of_o wax_n to_o bend_v which_o way_n they_o please_v or_o like_o a_o spider_n web_n that_o catch_v the_o small_a fly_n but_o be_v break_v by_o the_o great_a humble_a bee_n all_o to_o piece_n but_o to_o be_v like_o the_o chancellor_n steel_n that_o although_o he_o hate_v my_o person_n yet_o he_o say_v though_o i_o deserve_v it_o not_o i_o shall_v have_v justice_n and_o so_o he_o do_v i_o justice_n present_o and_o i_o love_v to_o do_v right_a to_o my_o adversary_n and_o to_o say_v the_o truth_n of_o my_o enemy_n but_o for_o myself_o i_o thank_v god_n for_o it_o as_o i_o live_v many_o year_n very_o quiet_o and_o content_o with_o far_o less_o mean_n than_o 20_o li._n a_o year_n and_o with_o far_o less_o pain_n and_o trouble_n than_o i_o have_v now_o so_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o i_o can_v live_v so_o still_o and_o i_o resolve_v and_o vow_v as_o i_o have_v attest_v in_o my_o epistle_n to_o his_o majesty_n that_o if_o i_o shall_v recover_v this_o bishop_n court_n unto_o the_o church_n i_o will_v whole_o and_o full_o bestow_v the_o same_o for_o the_o repair_n of_o the_o cathedral_n church_n of_o kilkenny_n so_o that_o recover_v it_o i_o shall_v not_o be_v one_o penny_n the_o rich_a or_o not_o recover_v it_o not_o a_o penny_n the_o poor_a and_o so_o the_o wrong_n do_v by_o this_o proceed_v whosoever_o do_v it_o be_v as_o i_o conceive_v more_o against_o the_o king_n and_o the_o church_n than_o against_o myself_o and_o if_o the_o proviso_n for_o sir_n george_n ayskue_o carry_v this_o bishop_n court_n to_o he_o from_o the_o church_n which_o in_o my_o understanding_n be_v clean_a contrary_n to_o the_o very_a word_n of_o the_o act_n pag._n 72._o let_v he_o pray_v that_o he_o have_v it_o not_o with_o that_o sauce_n which_o god_n prescribe_v in_o psal_n 83._o and_o so_o i_o end_v and_o so_o be_v it_o as_o god_n please_v amen_n and_o after_o i_o have_v deliver_v this_o same_o relation_n unto_o his_o majesty_n and_o show_v the_o effect_n and_o sum_n thereof_o by_o the_o next_o day_n i_o give_v he_o this_o petition_n to_o the_o king_n most_o
